i disagree l think the story and ideas were the engaging factor of this film and the colour grading let it down... ln Hindsight it does look visually distinct from the other films in the franchise and the monochromatic colour scheme fits this sequence well, but The washed out tones of the rest of the films make the it look too similar from scene to scene. Nor provide anything too engaging to look at.
Salvation is a sequel which actually stand apart from the whole Terminator series. Just like Tokyo Drift from Fast and Furious series. I believe these movies were meant to be stand alone rather than part of series.
Salvation is actually a sequel to Rise of the Machines. If you read the book version of RotM, it describes the nuclear war shown at the end of the movie as limited, so limited US armed forces still exist after the nuclear exchange. This is how the resistance is flying A-10s around, and how they still have so much equipment. The many universe theory of time invalidates the entire premise of the Terminator franchise, any Terminator sent back in time will just fork off yet another time line branch, and affect nothing in the history of the time line the terminator leaves from.
@@muskaos Actually time travel in the terminator series gets even more complex if you think about it. They would end up falling into time paradoxes all the time. Skynet was created using the technology it sent to the past, to kill John Connor. The moment the terminator succeeds, the history that skynet lived since it was activated no longer exists. Which means future skynet will not need to send a terminator to kill John Connor and by doing so, skynet is not created.

I saw this in theaters and I can not believe all the comments saying, "I didn't like it then, oh no, but now..." come on people! Where was your eyeballs?? Still an incredible movie. In just this scene, you can feel how cold and tense the air is from these two super powers meeting for the first time as they are, man and machine. Both have their dilemmas, one is a man, who can't figure out he is a machine, the other Conner, thinks he knows the enemy, and realizes he has no clue. The face off they have here is just phenomenal.
I didn't like it then and still don't now. It wasn't the kind of movie I like, and was too different in the series. Plus the terminator fight at the end was fucking dumb, "oh I'm going to walk slowly and menacingly towards John Conner and throw him down a little bit.... No, I will not just punch him through his face really quick." Fucking stupid. Especially compared to the one crawling towards him WAY faster earlier in the movie that ACTUALLY tried to kill him.
Actually, if you look at it properly you can see a part of the floor sticking out enough. He's obviously standing on that, plus Marcus's angle while hanging l, so it makes sense : /
Dark Fate was literally a poor remake of T2 only replacing John with that girl and even the "new thing" was already used in Salvation(human/machine hybrid). This movie is the TRUE sequel to the original 2 movies. And should have been the ground for the rest of the franchise.
They showed us a what if john connor was succesfully killed scenario, which was good imo. But the crap that came after it ruined it. Felt like a forced down our throats feministic agenda tbh, which is a common trend to do in movies lately. Kill the old story start a new one with a female lead character. I have nothing against a woman as a lead character, but the way they just ruin the story because of it is not the right way of doing it. And there are several other movies which went on the same path. (Star wars for example)
It blows my mind that from the filming all the way through the entire ADR and postproduction process, somehow no one noticed Sam Worthington slipping deep into his Aussie brogue from 3:24 on in this scene.
@x12 417 I like the way they went, it was what I've been wanting to see, adapted civillians just trying to survive, that's what I got, the terminator war was a bonus, I rlly got the off put psychological tone from Christian bale and i thought he did nicely.
I think it had a great premise and I wanted to see the gritty war years but the plot made no real sense by the end. The time travel at the end should have looped back into the plot of the earlier films.
Never understood all the hate this movie got, I thought it was great!! And when they brought it all full circle with the Arnold terminator at the end was wonderful

@George Thomas I guess I wouldn’t draw the conclusion that I had been turned into a cyborg, but I definitely would be questioning some things. He had taken some bumps to that point, but you aren’t walking away from that fall with some scratches.
@@Сайтамен Well, biologically Marcus is still human, Skynet just swapped out his bone system for a terminator one, he’s still got a heart, stomach, brain, nerves, lungs, and bloodstream. Skynet added armour plating, placed cameras behind his eyes, and chipped him to the central network. So yeah, he would still get hungry. He even says he’s hungry before he steps on the landmine. And no, he wouldn’t be able to sense his body is metal. If you ask someone whose had a hip replacement if they can sense it’s metal, they wouldn’t be able to sell based on senses, only the knowledge they know they had a replacement.
The combat scene at the start of the movie around the satellite dishes was absolutely dope. It's basically the Terminator movie I've been waiting for, and still haven't gotten.
The one issue I have with this scene is the fact that Marcus has a brain and they still don't trust him. Yes, I get that he was built by Skynet, and I understand the logistics of him being a serious threat. But John was protected by a reprogrammed Terminator. Seriously, just take the opportunity to at least try and get Marcus on your side. He has a human brain, I'm sure he isn't going to hesitate helping you.
Yeah I know, it's like when he said "of course you know me you were sent here to kill me" pfff yeah b*tch like everything in the entire world it's because of you
I always felt like he was just a walking GPS into their base. Unfortunately he's a victim and a pawn for Skynet. No matter how much they could've wanted to trust him they could not given his human intelligence still present.
@@Ben942K I always presumed, with the mention of him having a chip in that still-human brain, that they figured he might have some kind of sleeper programming, that was just waiting for the opportune moment to snap him into full-blown Terminator mode.
@@Ben942K That would have been an infinitely better plotline to setup the next action sequence. Instead, it was such a stupid one where Connor is chasing Marcus aimlessly, blowing up the entire base and making themselves be known to Skynet. Instead if it had just been Skynet infiltrating immediately upon Connor figuring it out, it could have led to the even the show-down towards the end of that action sequence where by the pond Connor and Marcus come to a truce.
@@Mokiefraggle Wasn't that technically the plot of the movie? But would probably be better without the Sam worthington character now that I watch it as an adult.
I personally did enjoy Salvation, the only one where the film took place during the war and Christian Bale did a good job as John Connor. I think the biggest issue most poeple had with it was that there was too much focus on Marcus compared to John. Granted it was still an amazing film.
You know I was expecting this movie in 2009 and liked it a lot. I think it was the first movie were I saw Christian Bale... I still love Salvation. My Terminator timeline is T1, T2, T3 and TS.
I think the Terminator franchise would be in good shape now if they'd kept along with this story. It felt fresh and original but also like it cared about the source material. Every movie since has felt like a mad-dash scrambled "hit the reset button, maybe it'll work this time!"
They're in the cemetery from the previous film. They are a family, father, mother, and son that in the next film would be sent into the past, generating the revolt of the wife with Connor. She waits for him in her belly. The son saves the father, in the end, with the heart transplant. A perfect film for a perfect continuation that never came.
LegionDaGhost I think that the chip in his brain controls him to certain degree, including his behavior/thoughts. Marcus was an infiltration unite, and at that point Skynet figured that the best odds of getting close to John would be by letting Marcus get captured (in believable way, hence artificially induced sleep right after the hit).

I was always sad they couldn't put John's damaged heart in him due to his healing capability, instead of him just dying for one last sacrifice to keep his humanity and save humanity.
In the comics Marcus just grows a new heart and is revived after months in his grave, so he does get to play a part again there at least.
Say what you want about plot, but Terminator Salvation had the best visual style of the series. This movie just looks gorgeous.
i disagree l think the story and ideas were the engaging factor of this film and the colour grading let it down... ln Hindsight it does look visually distinct from the other films in the franchise and the monochromatic colour scheme fits this sequence well, but The washed out tones of the rest of the films make the it look too similar from scene to scene. Nor provide anything too engaging to look at.
@@joenathan8594 dunno what you on about i for one loved the color grading
Nah man, T1 had the best visual style. TECHNOIR
Salvation is a sequel which actually stand apart from the whole Terminator series. Just like Tokyo Drift from Fast and Furious series. I believe these movies were meant to be stand alone rather than part of series.
Totally Makes sense, explains time travel, you would have alternate existences.
@@muskaos The franchise dont use the mutiverse theory, in canon there is just one timeline that gets altered because they are changing the past.
Actually it was the beginning of a planned sequal trilogy. However the company that released Salvation went bankrupt

I loved this movie
I didn't like it then and still don't now. It wasn't the kind of movie I like, and was too different in the series. Plus the terminator fight at the end was fucking dumb, "oh I'm going to walk slowly and menacingly towards John Conner and throw him down a little bit.... No, I will not just punch him through his face really quick." Fucking stupid. Especially compared to the one crawling towards him WAY faster earlier in the movie that ACTUALLY tried to kill him.

Actually, if you look at it properly you can see a part of the floor sticking out enough. He's obviously standing on that, plus Marcus's angle while hanging l, so it makes sense

Yes, John Connor learned to fly as the leader of the Resistance.
Dark Fate was literally a poor remake of T2 only replacing John with that girl and even the "new thing" was already used in Salvation(human/machine hybrid). This movie is the TRUE sequel to the original 2 movies. And should have been the ground for the rest of the franchise.
I agree dark fate was a money grab. Like we wouldn't notice it was a rehash.
the true sequel is TSCC
They showed us a what if john connor was succesfully killed scenario, which was good imo. But the crap that came after it ruined it. Felt like a forced down our throats feministic agenda tbh, which is a common trend to do in movies lately. Kill the old story start a new one with a female lead character. I have nothing against a woman as a lead character, but the way they just ruin the story because of it is not the right way of doing it. And there are several other movies which went on the same path. (Star wars for example)
I do think that it was a nice nod to T3 to have Kate Connor be a redhead still
CaptainRogers welcome to the future of Marvel.

Despite it being somewhat terribly done, Skynet straight up tells Marcus that they've been subtly pushing in this certain direction to try and trap John and Kyle.
