That is a great idea, to make it a school on rehabilitation, restoration and preservation. Plus, a culinary school that brews and sells the Krueger beer!
The attention to detail this mansion has both inside and out are just stunning! It certainly spoke to the wealth of the family. I am happy to see that it has a new life.
Magnificent. I hope when the refurbishments are complete, that they keep the property faithful to it's historical interior as much as is possible given the future plans for the old girl. What a stunning beauty.
It is a great example of Victorian era architecture . Houses that old are difficult to maintain for a variety of reasons. Great architectural features made with the best materials and workmanship are almost impossible to recreate today. The high cost maintenance on items like the roof the plumbing and electrical as well the keeping the paint updated are the main reasons these old houses are sometimes torn down. Another reason as a single family dwelling it cannot be run without an army of domestic servants that are very hard find these days.
Stunningly gorgeous then, even among the decay of age, and just as stunning 😍 ✨️ now!! The entrance into the grand hall took my breath away and the floors were magnificent. The architecture is spectacular. Iam so glad that this house was one of the few lucky ladies to see restoration. Bringing such beauty back to life. Thanks for the peek then and now and always your photography really capture ageless beauty of these ladies❤❤❤
Thank you UrbanEye, Excellent job on getting the black/white before pictures, then vacant then now. Yeah proud to see mansion is on Register & even better in use. Love, the figures on the porch, even better the beauty of the mansion. Just do not understand wonder why they built so massive. The upkeep, wow....
From the main floor to the top of the house is an open circular balcony on each floor with a stain glass skylight at the top. The cage part is the ornate frame that holds the stain glass over the top of the opening so that light can shine down on it, the design can seen all the way to down to the bottom floor. Thank you for your question and for watching.
Before y’all feel too sorry for this house, just remember that Krueger’s employees likely worked long, hard hours for meager pay and lived in barely habitable conditions.
It. shouldn't have been let to Decay The State of NJ. should have stepped in ... Decades ago and restored the House 🏠..& rented it out for Special Events & sight seeing tours ... That would have paid for the cost of repairs ..eventually... and then make a profit for the State ...😮. Just my opinion
@@maxlinder5262 hey buddy, what does maintaining beautiful works of art from the apex of Western Christian Civilization got to do with the current American pastime of focusing on ne-groes 24/7?
increased construction costs associated with the labor-intensive nature of such intricate detailing, a shift towards modern architectural aesthetics that prioritize functionality over ornamentation, and the readily available building materials that are more efficient and cost-effective for contemporary construction methods. Thank you for your question and for watching.
.you did not present the years or cause of decay. It appears that incriminate electrical lines were added along walls (not restoration) w/the peeling paint from not being heated (for a length of time). Also, floor surfaces are uneven at the plank edges indicating a moisture problem. The world was moving so quickly from the late 1800's its understandable how these enormous mansions became obsolete for the next generation as interpreting and building a home is of that moment/era of time. By 1940, 84 years ago, these homes were totally out of demand/favor for most home buyers.... except "us" here today.

My heart sank at first, but then was happy to see the mansion will survive.

Looks to be a Free Energy house. Note the fireplaces are so clean, why? Oh, and he was a Freemason too.

It's amazing how builders get by with building such flimsy houses these days, many will not last 30 years before they start to fall apart.

How is it that after FIFTY+ years on the National Register of Historic Places, this building continues to decay?
As of 2023, it has been completely restored and elaborately landscaped as part of an artisanal workspace project. Thank you for watching.

You’d have to sell a lot of beer to build a home like that but even more to afford restoring it. It’s a shame it was allowed to decline.
