Old Houses Holding On To Their Features

Why do old houses last longer? There are several factors that have allowed these old homes to last for centuries; superior raw materials unimpeded energy flow, and air flow. The materials these homes were built with had a higher potential to store water without failing, and could dry out easily due to the lack of insulation and air flow. Why abandoned houses are called haunted. Historically, since most people died in their homes and the funerals were held there it became the place for ghosts to haunt, with bedrooms being the most common rooms to be haunted. Decaying1903 Victorian With Stunning Features
I hate when these houses sit empty and get rundown. They don’t make homes like this anymore. People there should restore it and make it livable again.

Make something a landmark and watch how fast the state takes it an goes to shit
@@lightclawshadowmarsch8167 thank you for watching.
What a gem! I hope someone with an appreciation for the workmanship and the style of the house gets to bring this lovely home back to its original glory.

Are you able to show any homes built before 1850? Thanks for showing this one.
I have videos on here as far back as 1700s, it really depends on what I find when researching. Thank you for watching and for your question.
What a amazing house.
Glad you liked it and thank you for watching.
Thank you for another tour of a beautiful old home. She certainly deserves another chance at life again, all of the woodwork is just stunning especially the built in cabinets. I really liked the melancholic music you added to the video!
@@Sandjan90 glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching.
As a cleaning professional I say it’s too much house for anyone unless they have 20 children .

Painful to see a beautiful home like that rotting away, but it takes a bundle to restore them.
Thank you for watching and for your comments.
This house has all the bells and whistles of a grand Queen Anne. Though age, decay, and rot, has crept in the original details are beautiful and the floors each one different are amazing. No craftsmen today who could do that work. I really hope this house finds restoration so it's dream can be fulfilled for people who would love and care for it. As always thank you for the peek inside this beauty. Have a prosperous healthy happy new year. 😊😊

Thank you once again for taking us back in time! God bless those that tried to restore her! We had a 1929 home that we tried to bring back to splendor and it is a big job. I hope that you find many more to share with us!!!

I know this block of houses well there are several areas in Baltimore that the houses have that round front window
I love the architecture! Thank you for watching and commenting.
WATER will always be the g biggest enemy of historic buildings. It doesn’t matter what needs doing - if the roof is leaking FIX THAT FIRST because once the roof is allowed to leak every time it rains then the building is as good as gone already. I’m AMAZED the USA has not yet relished that SO MANY of its citizens FLOOD the uk paying their hard earned dollars to spend time in properties JUST LIKE THIS ONE (!) it’s madness verging on the moronic
Thank you for watching and for commenting.
Amazing craftsmanship especially compared to what’s built today. Absolutely gorgeous and all those furnishings, baskets and trunks. It will be a labor of love for sure.
It is my favorite this year! Thank you for watching and for your comments.
How very depressing.
Thank you for watching.
She's going to need a HECK of a lot of work. The floors not too bad, sand back and re-seal. But some of those ceilings, big job, around the fire places worrying, wood work in places significant replacement. Basically a lot of structural work before even thinking about prettying the old girl up again.

So much life in this house. It has stories to tell, and I'm listening. It seems to not have much intervention by human hands. Adds greatly to the charm. Since Im on the early end of boomers, I can relate to so much of this. Thanks for a beautiful video.
@@angelbulldog4934 glad you liked it and thank you for watching.
Repairs and cleaning need to happen, no doubt, but this one needs little in the way of cosmetics. Sand the floors, fresh paint, maybe a couple of things in the kitchen (that fireplace!)...I wouldn't change, just improve. Everything now is modern, black/grey/white, stainless, granite. It's all so mind-numbingly boring. Thank you for a few moments of peace.
@@angelbulldog4934 thank you for watching and for your comments.
Like a post-civilization ruin, and with so little beauty remaining. Hard to see such former potential abandoned. Feels too much like the United States feels these days.

@@UrbanEyeAbandoned You're welcome. I enjoy the videos.
I have seen many of these homes in Chicago, mostly in Bronzesville. They are BEAUTIFUL inside and out but sometimes have a musty smell, especially if it hasn't been taking care of. It takes TONS of money to restore them. Some investors have turned them into condos and sold individual units.
Thank you for watching and for your comments.
Ain’t nothing that The blood of Jesus can’t cleanse. I just don’t have six grand at the moment.
It seems like it all started with the idiot grandson (oh yeah he or 'it' was grand all right) and then everyone else in that 'city' didn't care at all about it...sad and sorry 'people' in that 'city'.
Thank you for watching and for your comments.
Glad to know this house is being preserved for tours. Makes no sense to tear such houses down & replace them with ugly modern buildings. Loved the music, and without narration: the photographs speak for themselves. Merry Xmas from California! 😄🧑🎄🎄👍

What a stunning building, inside and out. Of course it was destroyed for gambling. Money and greed is killing this country.

I had to mute the music. It's a bit overwrought for the subject. This isn't about a military campaign.

@@UrbanEyeAbandoned You're very welcome--the visuals are great. But I suggest a more restrained music track.
A developer should have purchased it and then renovated it to 1978 standards! That is what has been done with the Breakers Hotel in Long Beach, California. You should do a video on the historic Breakers!
@@edwardniessen thank you for watching and for your comments.
I wonder if Bessiewallis Warfield ever visited that house before King Edward VIII abdicated for her and the two of them became the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
