It’ll prolly get torn down unless someone has some mega deep pockets to re build the entire house, foundation is bad mega water damage all of that could have been prevented with proper maintenance throughout the years
So many old homes that would be lovely to restore. I wish some of the millionaires and billionaires would invest in these instead of some of the trash things they support now days. I truly would if I could. Thank you for the tour. It is indeed a lovely spot for a big old house. I wish more of the gardens had been left. Sorry she got emotion at the end. Best wishes to them.
What a magnificent home. My brother-in-law (a builder) and sister restored a similar 7000 SF ante-bellum mansion in downtown Norfolk (VA) back in 1990. It was owned by Old Dominion University and had also been condemned and slated for demolition. They bought it from ODU for $100,000 and restored it to pristine condition over a year+. Turned it into a successful B&B and sold it after about 10 years.
I hope the owners work with you so this house can be saved. This is a gem. To step in the front door is a walk into history. These houses ARE American history. We don't have castles, we have mansions like this from eras that are long gone, never to return. I'd think people of Virginia would want to save this. It would make a great historic museum. Wow, I hope you save this!
Can you imagine each area restored to how it was dressed back in those days. Close your eyes and go back in time. I can imagine the dinning areas and Sitting rooms, the busy kitchens, ladies and gentlemen of all ages sitting down drinking tea in China Cups and saucers, chatting away, the children singing and laughing as they play and skip around. I would so love to go back in time and knock on the door. Oh! What a dream❤. I hope this beautiful mansion gets fully restored to as it was. She is holding back tears as she spoke at the end. Cheryl from the UK x❤❤
Poplar Forest was in my back yard as a kid. Thomas Jefferson owned the property and spent a fair amount of time there. It was amazing living so close to that type of history. Hopefully the surrounding homes owners realize what a treasure this could be for their community after a restoration.
Heather is a delight. Her passion and dedication to this beautiful home are infectious. I hope she can make her dream project happen. Keep believing, Heather! Dreams can come true.

Should not be legal to sell properties like this to "foreign investors". Plus, this should be made a historic landmark and made illegal to tear it down
38:45 Heather is an excellent presenter! This house is spectacular. I am going to their website to see the old photos. Thank you for all the excellent work that went into this video.
Been a follower of the Dunnington Manson for long time. Just looks strange to see front porch gone, but yeah saw where being saved.. Wish I was rich to contribute, for this is Very Worth while investment....
Wonderful old building. Such place needs to be restored to its former glory. It needs to become a national monument because if it's gone, it's gone and the children of tomorrow wil never see how America's mansions were once look like. Now there is still a chance.
Wow what an absolutely gorgeous house! This house absolutely deserves to be completely restored and brought back to its former glory! Thank you so much for taking the time to give this house the attention it absolutely needs right now.
Wow. What a beautiful, regal mansion. Such a terrible shame it's in the condition it is. Very interesting architectural features; like everyone, I loved the tower rooms, the pocket doors, the conservatory, the attic. When touring places such as these, I always feel a kinship with the people who lived in them during the height of the glory of the structures, and can *so* imagine being there in those sacred, hallowed places. I was born far too late! Thank you very much for the tour; I plan to visit the website for the mansion to see some of the photographs from its heyday, and I'll pass along info to try to help raise awareness and funding for this lovely mansion. Always look forward to your videos 😊
There was a house here for sale i looked at. Sterling, il. The most unique house ive ever seen in my life. Way too much to say here. It was for sale for 23,000 ten yrs ago. I was not able to purchase in time. That attic was much like this homes. Huge. Told my sis the babies could skate up here. Still kick myself in rear.....
I live in Michigan and stumbled upon this video when UA-cam suggested it next after I watched a different video from 3yrs ago, exploring this home before the restoration efforts began. I plan to contribute and would love to see this project succeed and visit in person one day!
This video was very well done! From the videography to the editing and to the very knowledgeable tour guide. I absolutely loved how she continued to talk about which time period you were in with each room. It really brought the exterior and interior footage together. I really hope she is successful in purchasing and restoring this building! Her passion for this place was written all over her face and also expressed through your questions and comments. It is a beautiful place. My breath caught when you walked into the entryway! Stunning!
Another beautiful piece of history that I am afraid will no longer be around for future people to see and understand our past because the people today only value the present.
I’ve seen one in Billings Montana… These homes are so full of History and some are beautifully preserved protected and usually a Society of some nature would be in conservation care. Also many towns have their areas of “Historical” homes.
Beautiful home and fascinating history. I hope things work out for it's continued preservation. Miss Heather you are a charming and pretty young lady, and just as interesting as the property you love so much.

Wow you can tell this means a lot to Heather the emotion and passion for a beautiful piece of history. The Dunnington Mansion has made it this far it deserves to be preserved. One wonders if the golf course would’ve had the money how clean it would still be I hope we can see day were it returns to its glory
Fantastic video! I'm so glad there's now a foundation dedicated to the restoration of this beautiful home. We visited the property about 5-6 years ago, while it was still supposed to be a "golf resort community", and poked around the house. It was so sad to see the "demolition by neglect" happening before our eyes. I will say they are fortunate the mansion has a slate roof, as that has certainly saved a lot of the structure, despite the ingress of water in other areas. It's not only beautiful, but practically permanent.
the rose looks like what my mom called a seven sisters climber, appears to look prosperous and the 7 sisters bush used to be highly prolific would ALWAYS come back with a vengeance but to me they were delightful and i wish i could find one these days !!! this house is a gem i often say that i was born in the wrong era time and place.❤❤❤
You should go to Seven Mile Ford in Marion, VA. There’s a home similar in size to this right off the side of I-81. Tons of history on it, & has Civil War stories. It’s very old. Then if you go to Adwolfe, Va (just right up the road) there’s a very old Octagon shaped house. There are so many old houses like this in these areas.

Beautiful Home! Wonderful Video! Hats off to people who put their efforts into saving our historic homes. Question: Why hasn't anyone tried to "dry" in the windows/roof with something affordable to at least keep the elements out somewhat? All the mouldings, built-in's, etc.... in the home are deteriorating more, and cost a fortune to replicate ...just a thought.
It would be lovely if it could be a home again, I guess not many people can afford or live that way any more, but my Dream it could make a wonderful home with the sound of Children playing in the yard! Good luck in saving this Mansion
This is a an amazing home that should be saved. I wish you could of showed the original pictures along with this video as she's explaining each part of the history ❤that way we would of been able to see how it would of looked originally. Thank you so much
I remember seeing this property a couple of years ago on abandon explores or something like that; before the roof was fixed and when the front porch was still on the house.
