Porsche should build a street legal version of the 911 RSR. At least something that looks the same. They could build it on the GT2 RS platform just like the new 935. I’m sure they’d sell every copy just like they do with all their special edition cars.
I’ve been lucky enough to attend the Porsche Experience in Atlanta a couple of times, it is great fun! Will you be taking it up a gear and driving at Barber Motorsport Park in Birmingham?
It's funny how they speak about Taycan like they invented all of that but they just bought licence from "Rimac automobili" . Google Rimac Concept One and Concept Two. :)
I can’t understand why anybody would buy this instead of the new Tesla Roadster which will do 60 in 1.9 seconds and does over 250 mph and is cheaper and looks nicer than the Porsche

It literally follows naming scheme which came into fruition since the first 911’s. Turbo does not automatically apply that it needs a turbocharger. You can say the same thing about the new gen 911’s which all except the GT3 has turbos ?
@@tobiasliebstvonobelitz6554 I see your point but its the first iteration of Taycans and to follow the naming scheme it would be more appropriate to follow the naming scheme of the Panamera, Macan and Cayenne. What will come next in the Taycan-range? The Taycan GT3? Doesn't make sense.
@@tobiasliebstvonobelitz6554 How does if follow Porsche's naming scheme from the outset? No non-turbo Porsche EVER got a turbo badge and I'm pretty sure no other auto manufacturers have done it either. Leave that hokey shit to vacuum cleaner, hairdryer, and razor companies - Oh, and ricers! It's fine to omit the badging on the lastest 911s because how else would you differentiate the flagship "911 Turbo" from it's lesser brethren. My guess is, somewhere down the line Porsche will drop "turbo" from the EV line consequently making the first-gen model's collector cars.
Taycan: Too ugly, Too limited range, too heavy, sounds awful, too impracticle, way too expensive, and called 'Turbo S' ? Have Porsche lost the plot? Absolutely absurd concept car, hate it!
I see you visited my old stomping grounds Sam. I used to live about 20 miles south of there. Had I known about the Porsche experience center when I lived there I might have gone :)
As the car industry goes electric, I think the "supercar" is going to die out. When any average sedan can go 0-60 in 3-5 secs (various Model 3 levels) and snap your neck back, who really cares about going any faster? Is 2.5 secs more fun? Styling and features may dominate, but I'll be very surprised if performance continues to matter. Moreover, if autopilot matures and ride-sharing becomes as popular as one might expect, even the "pride" of car ownership may decline. Big changes are coming, and IMO Porsche is way off the mark with the Taycan (unless they are simply burnishing their brand in the short term, trying to hang on as long as possible as we transition from ICE to EV).
Watched for 13mins for the "secret", gave up. I hoped it would be the fact that it's obscenely heavy at 2.4 tonnes (well over 5000lb), with bad electric efficiency. I love Porsche but why on earth would they make a 2.4t car when the world needs sub 1t fast, efficient mobility.
About accelerating extremely fast to the speed limit, is breaking the law. They will call it aggressive driving/acceleration on your violation. Been there done that 🤦♂️🥶
Axel Official which is complete bullshit and so subjective. In California and some other states they’ll cite you with exhibitionist driving too if your tires squeal. Did this @ ATL October 2015, almost precisely 4 years ago, it was amazing. We had a 991 GT3, Turbo, GTS, 4S, and a Panamera Turbo, Cayman GTS, Boxster GTS, and others at our disposal for half a day, culminating with an even more awesome treat at the end: Pro Driver laps in a brand new GT4 then GT3 RS (and yes they did donuts around those dry circles too after the 2 laps per person riding shotgun). We got very lucky because both those cars had just had their break-in periods completed the day prior, so they were able to do this with them for us. Oh, I've since sold my 997 and now I daily a Model 3 Performance.
So what is with the vt title!!! What secret???? The 2 gears.. or the in line front motor to drive shaft... I love Porsche.. but once again, an over complex car to make it have some different tech, that is almost needless. But again.. what secret?? Arrrghhh.. another clickbait title. But.. having said that! yes, I enjoyed the vt, but I would not have watched it otherwise..and disapointed the secret was not a secret at all. Just becasue Calvin suggested it was So!! Does not mean you can state it a secret, as all true Porsche fans knew of this week's ago, just not you. So a thumbs down for me..
gosh, just amazing that Porsche has discovered that electric cars are better than gas cars! Got that dynamic performance thing going strong. Simply amazing. The best part is that they can sell it for only $200k! Now that's dynamic!
My big concern about the regenerative braking in ev's is I, not infrequently, like to move or reposition my foot on the pedal which typically involves a momentary lift... Am I at risk of jerking my passengers all over the place? Probably only if regen was turned up high.
Not entirely unrelated to Taycan but... Few weeks ago I read an article about this old lady who deliberately pinstriping a Tesla Model 3 and it was caught on the TM3's Sentry Mode surveillance cam. Makes me wonder sleeplessly, does this Taycan have it's own Sentry Mode? 😅
Idk what it is guys but since I've learned about the insane power of EV's and especially the Taycan and how effortless they seem to bring it down on the road, it's hard for me to get excited about cars like the GT3. that GT3 is just screaming and shaking and doing everything it can.... but in the end it is not even as quick as the Taycan. Does anybody feel the same?
Climate change is the #1 threat for most people in the world (for the British it's the #2 threat. The Brexit is on #1). Therefore I do quite like the Taycan. It's bringing the amazing aspects of electric cars to the car community, and I believe that that can change a lot in the world.
While not impressed by the current infrastructure for EVs, i do like the idea of them, and would gladly have one for dialy driving. I think the Taycan is fantastic to look at, and i like the idea of the two gears. On the other hand i loathe that they call an EV "Turbo" and "Turbo S", because that is pathetic. ..and i loathe the interior sound even more.
Was a good video until he began talking about battery and battery power. Most boring conversation ever. I’ll stick to a Carrera and enjoy the sound instead of wanting to slash my throat open. Saw the Taycan in testing 3 months ago here in San Diego. Sounded pathetic. Stupid car
It is not the secret no one is talking about. You say yourself "obviously it's now officially been launched and there are a number of videos about it already but I haven't had the chance to get up close and learn about the thing" Click bait, hardly about the Taycan. Not a fan of EV at all. I'm just waiting out the hype and hoping manufacturers get back to building real driver cars again and maybe build some bio fuel or high octane motor .....
Regen is software adjustable on Teslas and Paddle Shift adjustable on the fly on the Mercedes.. You get 4 settings: no regen, slow regain, hard regen and radar/autopilot controlled based on traffic
Personally for the price and market segment, it should have more interior room. The rear seats are cramped and the boot is smaller than expected. I was expecting something more akin to the Panamera, which raises my final gripe... lack of a hatch.
Cant say I like the Tayan. Porsche are coming away from the natural look of the Porsche with them silly lights at front why change something good looking to that?..Unrecognisable as a Porsche at front?
