Jay, To preface my comments I think your take on the social media car review world is spot on and I recommend the channel to all of my friends/colleagues that are interested in cars. However I want to take issue with your opinion and the way it is expressed of the 992. Mainly because you were a big fan of the 991.2 GTS. I owned a 991.2 GTS for 18 months and now a 992 Carrera S for the past 7 months.
I would like to point out the following which i think should be mentioned when you discuss the 992. It is massively spec dependant.
Essentially when you drive the manual 991.2 GTS you really enjoyed it. Well the Carrera 2s can be specced to be incredibly similar to that car. Rear wheel steer, lowered suspension, sports exhaust, manual gearbox, alcantara parts in the cabin, black accents in all the right places.
I don't profess to know more about 911's than you or to try and tell somebody their opinion is wrong. However I must say that driving a cabriolet(higher suspension), no sport design kit, hump at the back looks bigger as its cabriolet, 911 font badge on rear can be deleted, PDK instead of manual and then the opinion of the entire Carrera range choices being made from that felt a little harsh.
Problems such as piano black accents, 5 dials behind the wheel, cheap feeling switches mixed with expensive feeling switches were all problems that existed with the 991.2 but are not mentioned as people are used to that now and don't see it any longer.
I see the fact the 992 can feel like a GT car on the motorway yet just as sporty as the GTS on a B road as an advantage. The difference between normal and sport plus driving modes are vast in the 992 where as in the 991.2 GTS it was smaller. This mixed with the fact the 992 Carrera S can match most lap times of the 991.2 GTS shows that Porsche have broadened its abilities and lost none of it appeal. Except the exhaust note, PPF are the weak point of any Porsche sold from 2020 onwards.
Lastly, keep up all the excellent content and good luck with all your work in 2021.

Quite enlightening? Thought you were about to say quite electrifying or shocking. ;-D
Here's a potential solution to your major issue (with which I agree) with the Taycan: when you give it back to Porsche, tell them to pop around to Bentley for a lesson in how to do an interior. To put it another way, imagine the Taycan with the QUALITY of the interior from the Conti GT. Not having driven either, I will say I think the Conti GT's interior is probably the most impressive I've seen in the last few years; from all the reviews, it appears to be truly gorgeous.
Would that make it the best possible version of whatever this car is for you?

I do agree with you about Porsche options. That’s the one thing that gets me with Porsche weather it’s the taycan or any other Porsche. My brother has the macan and has about £15000 worth of options and when we go though what they are I would say that’s standard on my Kia e Niro and that’s standard and so on. Like adaptive cruise control £1200 on the Porsche as you say folding mirrors should be standard especially with a car that wide. And having to pay extra for a type 2 cable is a joke. The point I’m making is don’t get me wrong the Porsche range is brilliant and well built and the Taycan I love but I do think they should be a more generous with the standard equipment.

Because, it’s hard to make a use case to buy it, that’s why. A Model 3 Performance is a better EV at half the price. With more range and similar performance. The Taycan is a better car, and a proper Porsche. But for everyday, the Taycan lacks the interior room or stowage space of a Panamera. So it’s compromised for longer trips, or longer commutes. It’s not an emotional sports car you would buy for weekend fun. And again, it’s hideously expensive.
It’s basically the car you commute in when you have a boat load of money to spend and already have 3 or more cars. For that, it’s unparalleled. I am a Porsche owner and my daily driver is a Model 3 Performance. I drove a Taycan Turbo expecting to leave the dealership figuring out how to trade in the Tesla for one. I didn’t feel compelled to. It’s a fantastic car, but it’s not so easily defined....

@@BlueAxeRacer Is it? A torque converter/planetary gear automatic is fundamentally different from a dual clutch which is fundamentally different from a manual. A diesel is fundamentally different from a petrol engine. A turbo is fundamentally different from a natural. FWD, RWD and AWD are all fundamentally different. This is just another type of engine and from a driving enthusiast's point of view I'd say it has lots going for it. Ridiculous power. Instant torque throughout the entire range. No maintenance requirements to speak of. The only thing some may miss is the noise but after all, having this type of performance in total silence is quite an experience in its own right.

Just a quick EV version of a sporty four door "coupe/sedan" (I mean a saloon with the sloping roof, like the CLS or BMW 4/6 series or Audi (R)S5 or 7). Who is it for? Well, maybe it's just difficult to tell at this moment because the market for these cars is still developing?

Had one as a loan car for three days. Agree interior quality is not what it should be which is what I thought when I drove the 992. Biggest issue the Taycan has is the charging network which i got to fully experience as no home charging so totally reliant on it. In short the network of fast chargers isn’t anywhere near comprehensive enough and charging at an Ionity is very expensive...from memory £35 for 140 Miles’s of range. Amazing motorway car and totally agree about the ride.

@JayEmm on Cars - such a cool video. I'm totally with you on this; when I first sat on it and just had the looks plus interior (standard) I was basically "why is this so expensive..."
    Then I drove it.
Oh. My. Goodness. What a tremendous car. I run a 981 GTS right now and going back to it the handling, acceleration, ride, and even FUN FACTOR feels just...standing still lol.
As much as I'm a petrolhead...if this is the electric future I can't wait for the electric Cayman, electric Pana etc. Well done Porsche. Well done.
PS: I know Harris dinks the car on the practicality but I disagree. With the panorama sunroof the back is plenty roomy (I am a short 5'9" though) and it even has the bench for five people. The seats fold down entirely to shove in plenty of stuff...4WD for skiing and you still get that super useful little boot in the front for groceries and takeout.
