This is extremely impressive, I thought you had the speed turned up 😂. Obviously not! How did you go at your best? I’m in 30s been doing it nearly 4 years and I’ve finally nearly clawed my way into the top 10 of my country. It’s a great sport, I wish I didn’t have such bad injuries from other sports.
@@EastbourneEscrime wow that’s incredible! Both are equally impressive, representing England? They’ve really been stepping up their game in the last few years, it’s exciting to see. Any memorable bouts you are in that are floating around on UA-cam??
I Like it, how did you connect the epee to the arm, is there a tight spring or something behind the guard in there for some give. I've always wanted to make a training device like the one in 'By the Sword' but yours's looks more do able. Look forward to reply.
Hi John. It's an oak branch with a hole drilled into one end. The epee guard is screwed into place with small screws. then - you'll love this - I put a foil blade in in the end. When it breaks just slip another in. Because there's no spring on the arm, the foil blade has pretty much the perfect amount of give. Also, it's just an old set blade I shove in, and I can twist it around to emulate a different blade presentation. Good luck!
If I understand correctly the foil blade rests inside the Epee guard, and sits nicely in the drilled hole. Imagine there is some wiggle room but the foil being a lighter blade acts as a spring.

Hi. Top 50 only in the open. Top three in the vets. I was training for a vets world Championships where I bombed 😂

@@samthestoryman3757 No, I’m an awkward leftie so no screen presence. 😂
@@EastbourneEscrime haha we are our own hardest critic. Did you ever do any of the commonwealth tournaments?
Very nice and very helpful!

Thanks for the info Jon
EastbourneEscrime s I don't really get it, would it be possible if u make a video or step by step instructions?
EastbourneEscrime so is it just stick the epee in the oak wood, how does the using of a foil blade replaces the spring?
