  • Get ready to witness a head-to-head comparison of three top-rated water-based paints specifically designed for uPVC. In this video, I will be conducting a comprehensive paint review of Frenchic Al Fresco, Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin, and Bedec MSP.
    You'll witness me apply three coats of each product on a uPVC door panel while sharing the necessary prep work and brush application process for each paint. My aim is to provide you with an unbiased and honest evaluation of the performance of these products, as well as closely monitoring their durability over the next few months.
    This review wouldn't have been possible without the support of MDT Windows Ltd (Nottingham, UK), who generously provided the old panel free of charge. Instead of ending up in the landfill, we are repurposing it in this video. If you're looking for top-quality windows and doors, make sure to check out their website at www.mdtwindows.co.uk.
    Get ready to make an informed decision about the best water-based paint for uPVC. Stay tuned!

    I painted my back door using Frenchic Al Fresco wise old sage on the outside and Dazzle me, which is a bright white on the inside as the panels had become very discoloured. Prepped as Frenchic advise, washed down with sugar soap and lightly sanded to key the surface. I was so impressed with how the paint went on, it really is lovely to use. Bit scary after the first coat as I'd used it quite thinly. Second coat after 2 hours looked great. I did a third coat, but it didn't really need it and I was amazed at how little paint had gone out of that little pot! 18 months later the door looks as good as the day I painted it. Withstood the winter so well. I live high up in a very exposed area and the back of the house always takes the brunt of the bad weather, so I have been well impressed. That was my first Frenchic project and I have gone on to do many more since!

    Apologiese as I've had to watch this on mute with subbies, so may have missed a few important bits!
    My husband painted the inside of our composite front door today. Frenchic Dazzle Me White over our (came wirh the house!) Burgandy.
    Kicked ourselves cos we had a tin of Zinsser Primer handy. But followed instructions, cleaned and lightly sanded it, but didnt prime it. Sorry to say he wasn't impressed and I was gutted as I'd pushed him to paint it for me! Very watery, dries very quickly and streaky. Expected first, even second coat to look a bit scary....but just looks passable after 5 coats!
    He's old-school: prefers oil-based Gloss etc. Been Googling best paints for upvc/composite doors and they all seem to recommend water-based products.
    Still got to convince him to paint the front of the door. That'll be black so may be much easier to cover the burgundy??Hope he'll get on-board but truth is I can't see him using Frenchic again. Shame....because I've already bought the bleddin' stuff!!

    Painting uPVC is not the problem, it is very simple to do. The reality sadly is the paint faced very quickly and where you once had a window or door you washed each year, you now have to paint it every year. The ultimate reason for plastic window frames was the low maintenance aspect of it.

    • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator
      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  2 роки тому

      very true, back in the early 90s Dulux brought out a paint for plastic windows.. mainly for councils to re paint uPVC on council houses to make them look good again it never took off.

      It's not a video on coverage, obviously a colour will cover better. It's how it feels to apply and how it looks when dry... When brushed.. Then the follow up video shows what stands up best ... Which doesn't matter about colour.

      If so... Clean it down well, sand it, Tru get the varnish all off, dust off. Then you need a coat of aluminum leafing Primer as the first coat. It's the best thing for oak or resinous wood.
      Allow that to dry, then to can paint it as normal.

    • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator
      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  Рік тому

      No, I wouldn't use cellulose, that's a specialist paint, like what they use to spray cars with.
      It's not really a paint a Painter and Decorator would use.... unless you do spray painting and have proper air extraction facilities in a spray shop, with the fumes being taken away with proper extraction.
      Water based paints now days have come on so much these last few years.
      Proper prep, with the correct process of using the right Undercoat with the top finish and you'll be fine.
