It does not take much. She has ruined more than a few of my favorite franchises. Even so, my point remains valid. All she needed to do was put a bullet in the back of his head.
Would be even greater if you could make it say something to. Imagine a giant monster doing the default dance destroying multiple buildings along the way whilst singing hit or miss at a deafening volume, shattering ear drums in the entire city.
Two things. One: I only watched this movie because I saw it advertised on this channel. Good job. Two: your explanation of her drinking at the end is incorrect, in my opinion. She is an alcoholic. After the crazy events that just occurred, she mindlessly walks directly into a bar. Not a restaurant or a bookstore, but a bar. She only realizes this stupid habit when the bartender asks her if she would like a drink. Her face at the end, to me, said that even though she had beaten this horrible bully and solved this terrible puzzle, she still had to deal with her alcoholism. She still isn't perfect, but she is getting better.
Same but I think it can go two ways but I think your right because her expression in the end when the lady ask her if she wants a drink meaning she has to deal with her drinking

SPOILERS ALERT! Seriously, near the third part of the movie really caught me off guard, i thought this would be a "fun-comedy-kaiju" thingy all the way until the end (seeing the film trailer, it looked fun), but suddenly then the "Oscar" character became really really creepy, abusive and hostile towards the end of the movie, there's even a beating scene against Gloria (Anne Hathaway) at the park, i was super depressed when the movie took that sharp turn into nearing a "thriller" movie (Gloria and Oscar's fight at the house). The Oscar character guy is the kind of a person you don't want to meet in real life situation, seriously, that character was so horrifying and fucked up, kudos to Jason Kudeikis (the actor who played as Oscar), his portrayal of the dick-head Oscar was brilliant!

Such a good movie. I love how they set it up as Jason Sudeikis being the love interest, only to completely turn it on its head and he becomes the villain. I love those kind of surprises.

I loved this film. It went in a different direction with the characters than i thought it would. I was a little confused over the coke head just disappearing from the movie but whatever.
It's a shit movie, it's NOT romantic and it's NOT a comedy! It's a movie about two damaged people with mental health issues, Anne's character is a total bitch. She's an selfish alcoholic party girl and her hometown friend is a control freak.
Folker46 ! No one said it was a romantic comedy, it deals with some real issues in a fun way... I think that makes it a good movie. Go watch the avengers or something.
Thank you, I don't know how so many reviewers completely didn't get the meaning of this story. It was a wonderful movie about substance abuse and emotional abuse, its mind boggling how daft other reviewers are not seeing that she was in an abusive relationship with the men in her life, it can't be undermined how the "friend" was a jealous abuser trying to have control over her by using the robot to keep her where he wants her and then trying to placate her by giving her house gifts, the ex boyfriend was emotionally abusive and belittled her when she said she got a job as a waitress and laughed at her progress. Even the guy she slept with left her to fight alone. Thank you for this review.
That's what I saw but also an even bigger theme of what people do when they are given a way out or a gift. Do you take advantage of it or let it sink you more?
Just watched this movie a few minutes ago and went to sites where reviewers were giving explanations, and I also was surprised to see that alcoholism was always mentioned but not the emotional abusive dynamic in Hathaway's character's relationships with the men in her life. It seems also the "cute guy" Sudeikis' character purposely didn't introduce Hathaway's character to is also bullied/emotionally abused by Sudeikis and it has something to do with his physical attractiveness being perceived by Sudeikis' character as being generically superior...and other reasons ofcourse
I liked the premise of Colossal. It had a Twilight Zone feel to it. But I felt it really got bogged down [too much] in the drama of Gloria's and Oscar's life. The Screenplay could have been tighter, and pacing could have been quicker lending more excitement, and less hair-of-the dog droning on, and on in smallville hell.
No, the movie was bogged down for trying to use Godzilla in the marketing, without TOHO's consent and then all Monster movie fans abandoned it, and that's where much of the movies recognition would have come from.
So 90% of your videos i've watched i haven't seen the corresponding movie. This being no exception, BUT this movie looks fucking awesome so now i'ma watch it lol.
Diego Alaniz the book was amazing in my opinion, so well written and the plot was incredible. I did actually enjoy the movie too, I found it funny, sad, and creepy. I will admit though that the book is far more intricate. But I love horns and Daniel Radcliffe’s performance was really good.
The flashback scene when they are kids provides an origin to their powers in a very disturbing way. The two areas are connected, that is why it works. I really liked it, it was something different.
Shelby Yarchin What was the message? Maybe I missed it. All I got was ... Life getting you down? Just lie to and stand up your boyfriend, kill your childhood bully, and have a drink in a foreign country. Like, huh? I don't even know what I was supposed to get from that.
Shelby Yarchin I loved it and it was entertaining the whole way through but I agree some scenes did feel forced. The performances were amazing and I loved the originality though.

You can explain an ending while quoting parts of the film. People that seek an "ending explained" type of video will generally have seen the film. Why on earth would you search for an ending explained video if you haven't seen the film? Even if an overview is included, the analysis of the ending should be the far longer than the summary.
I just watched this movie and this is the first time I quarrel at a screen. At Oscar off course. Loved how he was handled in the end. Its worth the watch
I watched the movie and found it quirky. I was expecting a comedy and it did have some comedic moments but the ending got dark and I was not expecting that. I also thought originally that Oscar was going to be a good guy and not the jerk that he turned out at the end. Was an enjoyable movie with twists that I was not expecting.

Came across this explanation by accident. Watched because I thought I missed have actually missed something as the movie's ending really needs no explanation. This was a good movie. A big surprise as the plot seemed so odd. Also, thought it was going to be a comedy but it was not. The monster aspect was really interesting way of metaphorically speaking to the heart of drinking and the damage it does. Writer was very creative and somehow managed to take what would be thought of as a really corny story line into an interesting drama. Really enjoyed it. PS. I really don't believe the ending was intimating that the antagonist in the story was killed. Take a chance on it.
+Mary Ann Chaves Yea I saw this movie as a metaphor for not only alcoholism but also kind of abusive relationships and her "killing" oscar was just symbolic of her conquering her demons and moving forward in life.
I downvoted because he called the movie a romantic comedy in the intro. Its not a rom-com and I don't understand how it could be mistaken for one if you've actually watched the movie.
Had never heard of this movie until I was on UA-cam this morning searching for the song Colossal by Wolfmother, and found the trailer for this movie, so I had to rent it, and it was definitely odd, but I liked this movie quite a bit.

To clarify did Oscar kill anyone in this movie because if not wouldn't he be more innocent out of the two main characters. considering she accidentally slaughtered at least a couple hundred people in Korea.
What i hated about this movie is that Gloria has no accountability, She killed hundreds of people, wrote that that "she was sorry and it was a mistake" and somehow the people end up forgiving the monster instantly, after she killed so many people and caused so much damage, hell Oscar has not killed a single person in the movie, taunted them but never killed anyone, yet somehow he became the villain, he is an asshole sure, but a villain no
Yep the movie makes all the main male characters out to be evil, Tim is a controlling asshole who wants his girlfriend to stop being an alcoholic, Nelson is a junkie, Joel is an enabling pussy and Oscar is an asshole just because of is psychological issues that could have been resolved by getting him some help, not slapping him when he was drunk, and i felt really bad for all does Koreans they didn't deserve that.
TheCakeisAlie 1 agreed even if she didn't mean it Gloria was the biggest pice of shit in the entire film and if Oscar wanted to accomplish something in his life so badly why not take advantage of the situation and cross the Korean border and proceed to terrorize the shit out of the north Korean military.
Hell yeah but kim-jong-un would throw so many nukes at his ass it wouldn't even be funny, besides he is there to make her look better, so no way the writers would make him look good
I don't know if you'll ever read this, but there's even more. It's not a coincidence, Gloria's work is a writer specially for internet (it's hinted), as she's unaware of the direct consequences of her actions. Oscar's character plays out as an internet troll also, giving the whole film another meaning about the effects or internet avatars that make anonymous, any kind of bullying and the destructive effects of that behaviour.

It does not take much. She has ruined more than a few of my favorite franchises. Even so, my point remains valid. All she needed to do was put a bullet in the back of his head.

AsciiKing Exactly what I loved. Our hero finally wasn't a goody two shoes.
Same but I think it can go two ways but I think your right because her expression in the end when the lady ask her if she wants a drink meaning she has to deal with her drinking
I think you nailed it on the head.
I wonder if her inflatable mattress was somehow damaged by Oscar. Later in the movie, it was revealed that he's always had a key to Gloria's house.

Are you just saying that because all you know about SCPs is "a game about scawy monsters is called SCP", and you think the kaiju was...a scary monster?

So it's ok that she killed people, because she found herself? lmao...
As long as we have a moral of the story
You get a free pass from mass murder as long as you find yourself
No one ever said it was okay that she killed people.
FriskyCandy Dog no but they just let it go as if it’s not important that she’s a murderer.
Well she kind of did murder Ben I mean she did fling him into the horizon so he would die on impact with whatever he hits if the force of the throw itself didn't kill him by snapping his neck
Yeah, but... She was stopping him from murdering people.
I personally love this movie it's so original and has its own story to tell 10/10.
It may be "original", or whatever, but it does not give a good Explanation to any of the Events Happening, in any way or form
That's just it, You are supposed to use clues to understand what is truly going on.
Not 100 percent original the connection stuff is original but the giant monsters fighting is not. Ever seen Godzilla?

This explanation is actually too simplistic. The movie is about co-dependence and abusive relationships (the two are often related). As a child, she was very creative and talented, as shown by her stories, and the fact that her diorama is much better than his. He knows, even then, that she will have a successful life, and he wont. When hers blows away, he destroys it out of a desire to keep her in his life, to control her. When she sees this, the betrayal, by someone she obviously felt very close to, shattered her confidence and made her withdraw into herself, and creating the codependent relationship between them, the insecure abused man, and the shattered, desperate for approval woman. The lightning literally linking them is a metaphor for this. The monsters are also just a metaphor, and dont mean much to the story, ultimately. I would guess that was the last time she ever wrote a story that was inspired. She never did grow up to meet her potential, being held down by her codependent relationship, fueled by alcohol to help her cope. Her alcoholism is an extension of her shattered sense of self from childhood, or a way of coping with it. When she goes back, he had been watching her all of these years, probably pleased at her ultimate lack of success, seeking to control her more and more, furnishing her house, getting her to work with him, etc. the co-dependent relationship is fully re-established at this point, and everything gets worse, including the metaphorical destruction of Seoul. It should be noted that she is not totally innocent in this. she emotionally abuses him, as well, sleeping with his friend, causes him to experience the jealousy and betrayal he had felt for her his entire life, making him drink even more. the entire situation comes to a head when she decides that she wants to break free of this cycle and leave this in her past and go back to NY with Tim. Of course, he uses emotional manipulation, in the form of threats to destroy Seoul to keep her from doing so. Ultimately, she escapes the cycle, gains control of their relationship, breaks his control over her, and literally throws him away. One thing you got 100% wrong was when you said she scoffed when offered a drink at the bar at the end. Watch it again. She sighed, resigned to the fact that at the end of the day, after dealing with a problem that has been holding her back her entire life, after regaining her self confidence and gaining the courage to tell stories and do what she loves again (this is why she asks to tell the bartender a story), she still has her demons, she is still the person she became. In spite of herself, she wanted that drink. Her alcoholism is still a battle she has to continue to fight. which is real. we never defeat our demons. not completely.

Yea that was weird. Not to mention that she sleeps with that young dude who like doesn't do anything, and like knows the other dudes a douche.
The fuckboi character really, really bothered me. He was absolutely worthless and had no spine.
It's a shit movie, it's NOT romantic and it's NOT a comedy! It's a movie about two damaged people with mental health issues, Anne's character is a total bitch. She's an selfish alcoholic party girl and her hometown friend is a control freak.
+Phaexos I think that was the point. It showed that Oscar hung around with weak willed people that he could control and bully.
While you're absolutely right that these were the topics that were being discussed in the film, it wasn't really executed well in my opinion
That's what I saw but also an even bigger theme of what people do when they are given a way out or a gift. Do you take advantage of it or let it sink you more?
how could anyone miss the themes of emotional and substance abuse. it's not subtle in the least about it
Just watched this movie a few minutes ago and went to sites where reviewers were giving explanations, and I also was surprised to see that alcoholism was always mentioned but not the emotional abusive dynamic in Hathaway's character's relationships with the men in her life.
It’s kinda awesome to have a kaiju or giant robot avatar
I liked the premise of Colossal. It had a Twilight Zone feel to it. But I felt it really got bogged down [too much] in the drama of Gloria's and Oscar's life. The Screenplay could have been tighter, and pacing could have been quicker lending more excitement, and less hair-of-the dog droning on, and on in smallville hell.
metaz69u The drama was the point of the movie. It's about abusive and controlling relationships
No, the movie was bogged down for trying to use Godzilla in the marketing, without TOHO's consent and then all Monster movie fans abandoned it, and that's where much of the movies recognition would have come from.
metaz69u I actually liked that. It added more character development and chemistry.

You can explain an ending while quoting parts of the film. People that seek an "ending explained" type of video will generally have seen the film. Why on earth would you search for an ending explained video if you haven't seen the film? Even if an overview is included, the analysis of the ending should be the far longer than the summary.
exactly my thoughts! wtf?!

To clarify did Oscar kill anyone in this movie because if not wouldn't he be more innocent out of the two main characters. considering she accidentally slaughtered at least a couple hundred people in Korea.
What i hated about this movie is that Gloria has no accountability, She killed hundreds of people, wrote that that "she was sorry and it was a mistake" and somehow the people end up forgiving the monster instantly, after she killed so many people and caused so much damage, hell Oscar has not killed a single person in the movie, taunted them but never killed anyone, yet somehow he became the villain, he is an asshole sure, but a villain no
TheCakeisAlie 1 thank you some one else gets it.
