I absolutely love how everyone at the baseball game just slowly leave the game. No screaming, no panic but everyone is frightened and don't know what to do.

Sounds realistic enough for a gamer like me, once you got too panic you are just too stunned to speak
People would start recording actually lol
@@JustGre3dwith any luck those skells are the first to get got..
It's the "Ima just head out" reaction, lol
But yeah, I would do the same thing. By that point, you just don't feel safe in that area, so it's better to leave quickly and quietly. Kind of wished this scene was in the first movie, it would have given a good and entertaining impression of what our main cast is up against and how they ended up where they were in the beginning of the first movie.
I like the way these things only just crashed on Earth and immediately started ripping everyone to shreds. We all knew they where aggressive but they literally have zero chill
I like how ridiculous and absolutly 0 sense this all shennannigan makes. Nobody knew something was entering the earth's atmosphere? YEAH RIGHT! There was no impact whatsoever? YEAH RIGHT! And I seriously doubt there wouldn't be a huge HUGE shake if something of that size just crashed near your city...

@@my_dear_friend_ yeah I know but it's one of those details that wouldn't be hard at all
We are food, they were waiting for us to accumulate just like a heard of cows.
@@smallmight8522 - Not sure if anyone in my little, rural town would know or be told that something had entered our atmosphere. We don't pay attention to that really.
What I love about John’s character is his constant awareness. While everyone were still staring at the meteorite - he took his family away first. As soon as he had a glance on the monster - he rushed to his car where his deaf daughter was waiting for him to return. While they were hiding in the bar with others, as soon as the phone rang, he realized they're screwed and he ran towards the exit with his daughter; I'm pretty much sure everyone else were already dead by the time they escaped. And even in the shop, he takes a while to ask what happened.
i'm confused as to why these creatures are not simply shot.
@@MrChickennugget360 as far as I remember, their skin is somewhat indestructible by any convenient weapons and forms complete protection around their body - so even heavy shelling isn't really effective. I mean, they travelled through space on a piece of rock and survived absolute zero, entering the atmosphere, and the crash itself. I am not sure if chemical or other weapons were tested versus them. Many people complain that if a small girl realised you can use sound against them, the military should've too.
But we know from scattered clues (like newspaper headlines) that these creatures arrived all around the world and created complete chaos within a few days. So I'm ready to forgive the lack of such details. People think all governments and armies in the world are sitting 24/7 ready for an alien invasion - but they are not. In the situation when the White House and Pentagon are on fire, I can easily believe there was a lack of strategy in the army's actions.
@@Ross_Shevchenko on top of that too, the monsters are literally otherworldly
our governments are COMPLETELY able to anticipate anything remotely in a realistic or unrealistic environment, whether that's an EMP strike, a nuclear bomb, robots and AI, whatnot
sure, they won't be able to necessarily handle it very effectively, but bare minimum anticipate
how on earth could you anticipate creatures with little to no information of anything about them, besides the fact that they kill humans?
@@Ross_ShevchenkoAs I recall, they were beyond useless on 9/11 for the general pop.
Fake reaction. In less than 1 second he knew to run and in one minute he figured out it's attracted to sound. Dumb as hell.
Love how the father hid and kept others quiet, not because he knew that was the way to survive these blind monsters, but just because it was his instinct to try and be quiet as possible while hiding so as not to attract their attention.
Yep, I think that's just an older-than-mankind instinct: if something huge and terrifying is on the hunt, you just crouch down, don't move and don't make a sound.

@@TheGuitarnob it does actually feel realistic. To stay in-doors. And you can see the curiosity of people, as soon as they saw it. Okay I’ve never seen this movie but as someone who has learned ASL and a lot about Deaf culture not only is this quick snippet amazing but I absolutely LOVE that the daughter didn’t react to the rumbling sound of the meteor because she didn’t hear it. Attention to detail and knowing your characters like this is always amazing, and I also appreciate the accurate sign language!!

@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823Actually, probably not. Something that high up doesn't shake the ground much unless it gets closer. It's why I can hear the life flight helicopter going to the hospital I live near before I feel it.
A lot of people are confused as to why Lee (the dad) “knew” to stay quiet or realized the key to survival was sound. I don’t think he knew. He just figured that when hiding, you probably shouldn’t make unnecessary noise that could attract a creature. Just as you shouldn’t stand in the middle of the street and jump around waving. He didn’t know that the monsters were blind and only relied on sound. He just knew that they should do as much as possible to stay hidden, just as you would if you were hiding from a murderer or playing hide and go seek. Once it all died down, they probably just continued to be quiet and hide because they didn’t know if one was still around and they should communicate through ASL anyways. It was just logical thinking on Lee’s part.
I can’t believe this isn’t common sense for some people. If a guy broke into my house, and I was silent and hiding it’s not because I’m assuming they’re blind and can only hear, it’s just a normal thing to do
Its common sense to keep quiet when you have no damn idea what you are dealing with.
Tbh there are people who can't help themselves by sobbing, whimpering, or even like the old guy who prays under his breath thinking it isn't loud enough to be heard
He figured out the trick before people can even realize, he was smart af.
Like seriously don't these guys ever played hide and seek?
I love how after watching the first movie, when we see “normal” life before the creatures come, everything seems so loud, like the bag of produce, literally just walking, keys jangling, and it works so well, that I was almost more tense when life was normal.
Right? I remember watching this late at night for the first time, totally ready to get back into the swing of the aftermath of the first movie. The sound of the truck at the beginning shook me to the core more than most horror movies.

this is genuinely such an amazing scene. For people who have seen the first movie, the movie immediately introduces all the sounds of the world. It emphasises every single one. The grocery bag rustling, the aggressive and quick grabbing of food items and water from the shelves, the heavy and loud foot steps and the camera focusing just a second longer on that dreaded space ship toy, both an emphasis to the death of their son and to the aliens that are fast approaching- then it moves on to the crowds cheering in the baseball game, and then silence when the meteor enters the atmosphere. Everyone is dead quiet. Symbolic of the creatures presence, before people begin to panic, and leave quickly. The dog barking, the sound of the car's horn going off behind Lee being loud enough to shake the ground in the theater- it's amazing. i thought maybe they were encased in some sort of spores in the rock, like bacteria in dirt
The jumping back and forth from the perspective of the hearing to the deaf perspective was a unique touch.
Kind of reminds you of the LOTRs of how things sounded when wearing the ring vs not.
Nice nod to the movie's title, too: Being deaf means you're always living in that quiet place, and what's an audible & visual chaos to others is a visual chaos to her.
8:06 the way the alien killed that woman for some reason had me laughing 😂 that thing said “SIT DOWN!”
Masterfully Directed by John Krasinski one of Best opening sequence ever.
I love how they stay consistent with the monsters messing with electricity. The radio messes up, the car won't start, calls drop. But also remaining consistent since (I believe) a running cat, especially an older one, wouldn't rely on that many electronics while starting one would require more electronics which explains why running cars are ok but starting one is difficult.
A running cat? Just assuming you meant car tho a running would have a good head start
Damn didn't know cat have electronics
You know the best way to take things like these monsters out?
No drones, no auto-piloted planes, no cars with chips.
The planes from WW2 and other tech from that Era.
Heres why:
They had to be flown manually with human power.

It has NOTHING to do with any of that. It is more about the meteor falling and creating a disruption in the magnetic field. You know, "science".
Also, his wife had no problem starting their sedan. His truck didnt start because its an older model truck and older model trucks can be hard to start. It also adds drama as they cant flee, they have to hide out and we get the end to the scence we just saw. BTW, he does eventually get it started.
I like how the dad doesn't try to go save the rest of his family after they crashed, that's some intense survival instinct to overcome his fear for them.
Maybe he didn't realize it was them. He was just running after his daugher.
@@HeartMemory93 same here, i think the girl can't hear and thus she sees her mother's car, while her dad hears too many sound and did not realize
Cool, I never noticed that before
he was with his daughter
@@easonzhang1326 Good point, and I love how the movie loses sound when the focus is on the daughter; it gives the audience a feeling of how different her experience is.
And I agree, the father probably was way too focused to watch out for his daughter to pay attention to yet another car crash.
The town seemed so calm and like a small community of people that are like one big family. Everyone was at the game and just having a good time. I con’t why but it just seems so perfect to me. Maybe because nobody was on a cellphone.
Absolutely phenomenal directing!!
I absolutley love the way they made it so that the sound cuts out whenever the deaf girl isn't in contact with anybody. Its very creative
Aliens: biting everybody's heads off.
Mom: It's okay, honey. It's okay.
Kids: Are you in on this mom!?
Lol
Also the child: just sitting there MENICINGLY
"Uhm....Mom are you in on this Or something??...
Older son: “mOm MoM mOm MoM mOm MoM mOm MoM”
It's only smells!
Almost all the shots in the scene are so deliberate. I don't watch these movies often but they're both proof that John Krasinski is a good director.
8:05 the way she got slapped I CANT 😭😭😭
I love the fact that the dad ran with no hesitation when the first monster hit. Like he didn't go investigate or make sure anyone was hurt, just get away.
My man ain't even look back.. Hauled ass lol
He broke the rule book
That would be me, 100%. Can't save everyone and they don't listen, anyway.
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 Nah, you're just a coward.
realistically, most official emergency responders to disastrous events encourage peoples to act like this
maximize their survival chance while also clear out of potential obstruction! No one need to play unnecessary hero
Monster ominously prowling outside of window while everything is dead silent.
Me: “I’m sorry, did everyone inside and outside just stop panicking at the same time? Did the world freeze?”
Monsters killed those noisy bitches
@@ProfessorWeird makes sense.
The aliens killed everyone outside then heard people inside
Technically they did stop panicking because they died
They actually killed everyone that fast? Im sorry but I find that really hard to believe.
I live where the main street scene was originated. I didn’t get a photo with the directors and casts or anything but it was cool seeing them act in front of my eyes.
I have yet to see this. But the fact is I jump scared simply by Krazinski getting HONKED AT 😂 definitely need to watch this.
Imagine living a good life in a town where you know who’s everyone, with your family, all so quiet and having a good day until you see a meteor and you think: “I’m sure that won’t be very bad for us, but we should go home”. And you see some weird ass creatures running through the streets and smacking all things that make noises.
guess ill die

I love the atmosphere that's created you can feel the tension, confusion and anxiety in one hit
Love how they randomly threw in Cillian Murphy for like 4 seconds lol
6:59 his reaction is crazy, I would have been in shock and not been able to move for a few seconds but my man just straight up dipped lmao
Hes jack Ryan lol
He pulled out the black card.
I always get chills sending through my body when I see this scene, it’s just so horrifying seeing the monster tearing everyone to shreds.
That was terrifying...so well done.
I love these types of scenes in monster movies
My anxiety level while watching this movie was out of this world
You're mistaking anxiety with fighting sleep .
7:50 look at the hole in the bus' window
Mines was on 100 🤣
@@rachellepierre1109 Where does paint drying rank on your anxiety meter ?
Literally same tho
This scene gives me absolute chills, it reminds me of the Philedelphia scene in World War Z, Everyone chilling like sitting in traffic (WWZ) or playing baseball (this movie) and there's an explosion, everyone anxious not knowing whats going on then boom everything goes to shit and the world ends.
Or 28 Days later. You're not sure what's happening after Jim wakes up and is wandering around confused. Then it all goes to hell in a handbasket once the infected show up.
Terminator 2 (?) Nuclear war as she's screaming at them and then burns up?
I have a lot like this from the old Twilight Zone. (Not the new pos)
That's a much different scenario. There's a difference between a small town vs hundreds of thousands of people making desperate escapes and having big explosions
What makes those scenesso effective is how we all know on some level that when shit goes sideways, that's exactly how it will happen to us. We'll all just be living life, worrying about mundane things like bills, work/school, friend and family drama, then the aliens, zombies, terrorists, or whatever will just bulldoze everything.
They're effectively terrifying because they're so relateable to our normal lives.
@@mish375but that doesn’t rlly feel the same
