- A quick walkaround and a bit of driving in the mountains with my Alfetta. Fact: you´ll hear me crunch the gears only ONCE, which is quite an achievement with this transaxle car ;-)
Here is a little background on this particular version. The car is from 1977, the year that the two-litre version of the "bialbero" engine first came to the Alfetta Berlina. At this occasion the car was also restyled, with pretty drastic stuff like a longer front end, rectangular headlights, bigger tail lights and a new dashboard, although the Alfetta 1.6 and 1.8 kept the beautiful original styling for a few more years. 1977 was also the only model year in which the Alfetta 2000 had the aluminium "2000" strip across the dashboard; the following year it was replaced by imitation wood with the introduction of the more powerful 2000 L. - Авто та транспорт
I had a 1979 Alfetta sedan bought when I was 23 and owned from '85 to '88 in Australia. Wonderful car to drive in the country with friends to the sound of that joyous engine. Driving it was such a sensuous experience.
@russelldines5887 same here, 79 same ivory color, my was 2.0 version with thin rubber line in lower door part, i miss it a very much.
That car is in lovely condition. 1977 is the year I graduated...how time flies. In 1989 I got a new 75 Twin Spark with essentially the same chassis!
Oh wow, what brilliant memories. I owned one in 1986 in the UK. Fabulous engine and great fun to drive. It didn’t like our weather and suffered from bad corrosion so I sold it and bought a Mk1 Golf GTi. How I wish I still owned them both…. Thank you for posting the video.
Thats´s incredible, a couple of years ago my two cars were this Alfetta, which I already owned, and... a red Mk1 Golf GTI. Looks like we have a similar taste in cars :-)

Hola Jesús, qué guay que hayas reconocido la ruta. Cuando pueda siempre voy a la concentración de clásicos en Navacerrada (aunque de momento no la hay por la pandemia, claro). A lo mejor nos vemos allí algún día!

@@JesusRodriguez-tm8go Creo que fui con el Alfetta sólo una o dos veces, es que soy un guiri pijo, tengo varios coches ;-) Pero tampoco me acuerdo tu Dodge, a lo mejor nunca hemos coincidido. Seguro que nos veremos algún día, cuando las cosas mejoren.
I had a 77 quite a few minor changes were made for the 1978 models but i love the 77s interior its so 70s haha.

@@ericcrama2221 Bueno, sobre todo saber que tal van de fiabilidad, si les suele salir muchas cosas. Y luego a la hora de ir a comprarlo, que mirar principalmente, y si hay alguna cosa que si está mal sea mejor no comprarlo.

@@JesusRodriguez-tm8go Pues no soy experto en absoluto, pero por supuesto hay unas cosas que te puedo decir (y por cierto, perdóname si mi Castellano tiene errores...). He tenido y tengo varios coches clásicos, y hasta ahora el Alfetta no ha sido de los más fiables. Es un coche típicamente Italiano: tiene muchísimo carácter, casi parece "vivo", pero su calidad y nivel de acabado son un poco regular en algunos sentidos. Yo por ejemplo he tenido varios problemas con el sistema eléctrico. Si vas a mirar uno, te aconsejaría que pruebes todas las cosas eléctricas: luces, limpiaparabrisas, ventilador de la calefacción, etc. Y otros elementos que tienen que ver con la calidad de construcción también me han dado problemas (o problemitas): puertas que no cierran bien, cerraduras que dejan de funcionar, ese tipo de cosas. En cuanto al motor (que es una joya!) y a la transmisión, creo que son bastante fiables (pero repito, no soy experto). Algo que miraría absolutamente es si las guías de las válvulas no están desgastadas. Para ver eso: 1. Acelera tranquilamente hasta altas revoluciones (5000 por ejemplo). 2. Suelta el acelerador. 3. Una vez que las revoluciones hayan bajado mucho (hasta 2000 por ejemplo), dale al acelerador otra vez. Si justo en este momento ves una nube de humo azul en el espejo, la culata necesita una revisión. Sobre la caja de cambios: que yo sepa, es totalmente normal si cruje cuando cambias de marcha demasiado rápido, lo hicieron desde nuevo (el transaxle es tanto el elemento más interesante como el talón de Aquiles del Alfetta). No obstante, si cambias de marcha con un poco de cuidado y la caja de cambios sigue protestando, algo está mal. Y por último, y lógicamente, hay que mirar muy bien si el coche tiene óxido. Es el enemigo principal, como es el caso con casi todos los coches de esta época. Si alguien quiere añadir cosas o corregirme, hazlo porfa!

Is this the car own by this Calabrian Mobster?
I can assure you that I´m not a Calabrian mobster. But yeah, I also heard that the Alfetta was popular among mobsters, maybe someone can confirm if this is true? One thing I am sure of is that this specific car wasn´t owned by one; its history shows that it was bought new in 1977 by a young pig farmer near Parma, and that this man kept it for more than 40 years. Pretty incredible.
@@ericcrama2221 Ok, because I read a new about an Alfa Romo Alfetta that was owned by a Calabrian Mobster and sold for like 11k. The car was bulletproofed.

if it was armored it was easier than being destined for a magistrate, the criminals used light and snappy cars, plus the armored cars were easily recognizable.

Ciao Luigi. Spero che Google traduca correttamente la mia risposta. Non c'è molta differenza in termini di coppia e accelerazione assoluta tra le due vetture, ma l'Alfetta ha chiaramente più potenza ai bassi regimi. Accelera in modo molto uniforme. La BMW accelera meno forte ai bassi regimi e "improvvisamente" diventa più potente esattamente a 4000 giri/min. Per quanto riguarda tenuta di strada e frenata: guido le mie auto abbastanza rilassato, come le classiche, quindi non posso dirtelo in dettaglio. Ma la BMW sembra un'auto più moderna, quindi la frenata e la tenuta di strada danno al guidatore maggiore sicurezza. Spero che aiuti! Ciao, Eric.

@@LUIGIANSIDEI La cosa principale che ricordo è che anche in frenata la BMW sembrava più un'auto moderna (e lo era, ovviamente) rispetto all'Alfetta. Un po' più facile da dosare forse. Ma non credo che l'Alfa avesse bisogno di più distanza per fermarsi. Entrambi hanno frenato molto bene.
Mi ricordo l accendi sigarette....

Interesting to hear that first hand. It doesn´t really surprise me; you can still tell that some aspects of the car, like the electrical systems, are not the most thoroughly designed. Of the classic cars I own and have owned the Alfetta is definitely not among the most reliable. It does more than make up for that with its abundance of character, in my humble opinion, but I can imagine that is not really an argument when you buy the car brand new, like your father did...
