    Thanks for the thorough overview. It's a gorgeous Swamp Ash SE but the switching choices are disappointing. My old 1990s bolt on PRS EG-2 HSH, had switching with coil taps stock from factory that gave me all "9" tones similar to the current Core PRS 509. There's little reason not to have done that here as overseas switching and soldering are tiny costs. We'll just have to buy this and do a switching mod right off and maybe upgrade the humbuckers too. The SEs are on a 20% off sale right now so that pays for the mods.

    I just bought the blue iris version for my son for Christmas. Received it yesterday and it looks incredible (but have to keep it hidden lol). Seems like it would be an awesome modding platform as well. I almost want to get one of my own.

      I agree. It would be great to be modded for any number of switching and pickup configurations. I was actually just contemplating how to best add some of the standard Strat pickup settings to it myself.

      I bought it with the idea of modding the pickups in mind. A lot of fun options with the HSH config.

    My S2 Satin Vela has the best neck I’ve ever felt. Can’t wait to check this one out.

    • @roofkorean6948
      @roofkorean6948 5 місяців тому

      Yep. You can have an amazing sounding guitar but if it's out of tune it will still sound bad. Every reviewer should make sure they're in tune before they show off the tones. It's annoying when they don't. It feels low effort. You don't need to tune with a tuner if you're not playing in a band setting or playing along to tracks, if you're only showing off the tones then just tune the guitar the old fashioned way 4th and 5th frets or with harmonics so you're in tune with yourself.

      @@roofkorean6948 brand new guitar strings tend to stretch, and I doubt anyone wanted to watch me sit there and tune the guitar by ear, so I made the best of it. I have a small channel and my hope was to get this out before the larger channels and it was drowned out (which I did and this has one of my more successful videos). I worked eight hours the day this guitar arrived, unboxed the guitar, traveled to a different location because of an existing obligation, filmed the sound samples, edited the video and released it all within about 24 hours, so it was actually a lot of effort to get it out on time. Before you call something “low effort,” remember some of us do this for enjoyment and to share things with other guitar players which may be interesting. I have never received a dime for one of my videos or products as of time I am typing this, and trying to get something out quickly for a legitimate reason does not equate to a lack of effort or care.

      I did not unfortunately. When my Sweetwater sales rep calls me to follow up about the guitar it I’m going to mention it. It is one thing when a sale starts and it is just bad luck, but to start it (and I know it probably came from PRS directly) the third day after something is released seems to be a bit cynical since it is basically punishing the people who were excited enough about a new product to order it as soon as it was announced.

      @@jonathancalhoun4853 Sweetwater will take care of that. I would call or text though. I bought the SAS and a CE 24, so they reversed about $340. It appears that PRS dropped prices on pretty much all SE models except the DGT.
      EDIT: Ha, I was commenting while watching. I see at the end that you were already on it. I only caught it because I like to torture myself and see what units popped up after I already ordered one.

      The setup was good. Intonation was spot-on. The action was a little higher than I like, but nothing extreme. The neck had just a touch of relief in it.

      I do not disagree. I was not at my typical location for filming because I wanted to get the video done quickly since it was a brand new guitar. Typically I’d have a Shure SM7b where I usually film.

    I really get tired of hearing about how PRS inspects every SE guitar at the Maryland facility and that Sweetwater has a 55 point inspection process because when I received my PRS SE Tremonti the veneer was soo bad I had to return it to Sweetwater 🤦🏻‍♂️ my guitar should have been failed before it was buffed it should have been failed before it was assembled it should have been failed before it left the factory in Indonesia but it wasn’t it made its way to the US where someone at PRS should have said we can’t sell this guitar to a customer but instead they sent it to Sweetwater and after their 55 point inspection they sold it to me 😠 I was so shocked at how bad the veneer looked I had to return it so no more PRS and no more Sweetwater 😉

    • @roofkorean6948
      @roofkorean6948 5 місяців тому +1

      Just curious. What about the veneer looked bad? And doesn't Sweetwater take detailed pictures of each individual guitar and let you choose based off of appearances and serial numbers? (or did you order when they were backordered so you didn't get the option to choose?)
