Thanks for the comparison. I think you nailed the description. One criticism I have is the Les Paul sounds a bit too wooly. But then again,, my 60's lp standard can sound a bit thin at times. Do you know if the mahogany has a laminate on top of it or is it solid mahogany and if so how many pieces is it?

I absolutely hated the MFD pickups in my ASAT Special Tribute. I swapped the bridge out for a Vintage Tallboy from Rio Grande Pickups. I'll probably change the neck pickup at some point, but I don't use it a lot, so there's no rush. Also considering swapping out the Vintage Tallboy for the Muy Grande (hotter) or their Vintage Tallboy Humbucker. The Vintage Tallboy sounds great. I also swapped out the wiring for a Mojotone wiring kit with treble bleed.

Being that the AC10 is a very bright amp I think the Epiphone suited that amp better. I generally like MFD pickups but they sounded too bright for this amp, or the eq should be adjusted for them. FWIW

I agree they are nice guitars outta the case. Here's what I did to mine to get her sounding and playing better. After a small setup, oiled the fretboard, nut file on Low E and B, new D'Addario 10's wrap-around bridge, set string height to med-low, intonation on B and high E strings. The pickup heights were good. Plugged her in and boy what a surprise. The best playing and sounding Epiphone I've played. Nice growl with the P90s, and the neck pickup does a beautiful woman tone with Sustain for days. The plastic Knobs are cheap and could fit lower onto the shaft so they don't go off tilt. The shafts are a bit hard to roll but might get better with use or I'll spray them with lube. Great guitar and the copper color looks amazing. This is ready to gig. Last please tune your guitar or check the intonation.

I bought this Taylor ad22e a year ago. It sounds awesome. Mine is a keeper 😎I’m adding this I did add an unbleached bone saddle to mine. I believe it sounds better with the bone saddle

Epiphone messed up not putting the open book headstock on this guitar

You can get a proper headstock for $1300.00 on an inspired by, even though every Epiphone is inspired by since the beginning.

I have 5 guitars lefthanded with p90 out of 22 guitars all sound different

I ordered mine tonight off of JB's website and it comes with 2 meet and greet passes for the same $849 bux.

I've just sold my Greeny (got it for the equivalent of 930 bucks, so it was a good deal) as I simply didn't like the middle position at all. The neck pickup was sweet, though. Anyway, I'm going to get this one, but I must say I'd really prefer to have rosewood there. Why? IL can look extremely pale sometimes. Especially on this model, it'd be nice to have a darker fretboard. Does anyone remember the 2015 Bonamassa model? The one with a Bigsby? Those were nice, too.

How is the action with pressing down the strings to play? I'm very new and have a bad back and need a very very light electric guitar that's easy for me to press the strings and play.

The color is fire, im not really a les paul player but the p90s kinda interest me. I'm a singlecoil player.

The dark wood stain will be going straight on that laurel fretboard when I get mine

I don’t necessarily think epiphones need Gibson pickups, epiphone makes good pickups they are just different and being different is not a bad thing

If that sucker does actually have 50s wiring you can get a lot of use out of the volume and tone controls. Try both volumes between 9.5 and 6. The neck especially needs to come down on the volume knob when playing with gain. You'll find some great sounds with those p90s if it is wired 50s style.

Great color! Gibson/Epi should add this as a regular color option. Squier released an Affinity Jag in a similar bronze color. In a color that nice it's a good thing that is a poly finish because it won't wear easily and maintain its handsome visage.

Seems to be back ordered already here at my local store (until July) but worth the wait for me. Totally agree about Joe Bonamassa as well.. I love the guy and he is a huge inspiration for me and I don’t understand the ‘hate’. Joe Bonamassa is a true player and is sharing the history and passion of his collection. If people need to hate, why focus on Joe at all? Why not focus on those rich collectors that (DON’T EVEN PLAY) just collect all these incredible guitars and instruments only to hide them away for bragging rights or later profit…. Anyway, thanks for being one of the first to review this latest edition by Epiphone and Joe Bonamassa! What a beauty of a guitar! All the best to you and yours! ✌️😎✌️

Thank you very much for the in-depth review! I always want a Tele-style guitar in the mix, but I much prefer offset bodies. This is the perfect blend for me. Fender just added a Charcoal Frost metallic model to their website, and I jumped on it as soon as it became available.

The PCB switch on my older Affinity started acting up, but I gave it a good squirt of switch cleaner, and that fixed it. My Classic Vibe thinline Tele has a bad habit of high frets, but fortunately the store I bought it from has a policy that if you bought it there, they will fix it free, for as long as you own the guitar. My personal feeling is that there is no noticeable difference in quality between Squier Affinity and Squier Classic Vibe, but the Classic Vibe series have better pickups and sound better. They also have the faux-vintage components, which I'm not particularly a fan of, but a lot of people love them. It's a really good tip that if you have a sticky tuner, you put some vaseline on toothpick and push it through the little hole in the back.

It was bugging the heck out of me that you didn't seem to know that you pull out the volume knob to get the pickups in series. I'm glad you figured that out. All that 60 cycle hum on the jazzmaster pickup is bugging me too. That being said, I want that guitar - badly. I think I want it in white though. You have to be careful with a white pickguard on a Squier because you might find that when you take off the red label, that the rest of the pick guard will have turned yellow with exposure to light, leaving a very white circle where the label used to be. It's very annoying. I'm also thinking about a Player series Tele, which is on sale right now, at a local store - now that they're discontinued they're off-MAP. We'll see, not that I need another guitar!

Recently got a Player 2 and equally great quality. Didn't love the stock neck pickup, so replaced it with Seymour Duncan Broadcaster pu. Very happy camper, I'd say Fender is doing things right and they currently have 10% off at most online stores.
