Lost Ice Fisherman Solo Survival Challenge (NO Food, NO Water, NO Shelter!) | Line, Hooks, Blanket

  • I test my survival skills in the Canadian forest to survive with just the things I carry in my small backpack. I'll survive with just a knife, axe, line, hooks, and wool blanket. The wool blanket and survival tarp are from: arcturusgear.com/
    Pautzke Fishing Bait: pautzke.com/
My Gear (Shop and Support): www.thewoodedb...
I will show you how to cut through the ice using an axe so you don't get totally wet when you chop through to go icefishing. Then we will use just a little bit of fishing tackle, some fishing line, small fishing hooks, and some split shot as well as a branch I find on the shore of the lake to make a very simple icefishing rig that costs almost nothing. Adding some bells to a do it yourself ice fishing tip up makes for a nice fish indicator.
Next we will make a fire to cook the fresh fish over and I will show you how to light it with some special tinder that I brought in with me for survival emergencies. The goal of these challenges is to not only survive, but thrive. We are acting as if these are long term scenarios.
I wanted to test out some new gear, so I'll sleep overnight in a wool blanket and survival tarp that reflects body heat.
Primitive challenge with a few simple basic tools. I will show you how to start a fire using primitive techniques and cook a wild grouse over an open fire. Survival is all about making the best of a bad situation. Staying warm and dry is the key to staying alive. After survival is taken care of, it's all about making your situation even better. Finding food, water, and making a shelter is a must to create ultimate survival comfort. I use a saw and basic tools to make a bushcrafter shelter in the Canadian forest using materials around us like tree branches and dried grass.

A little trick I learned about 25yrs ago, to make the boiled water taste better, is to pour it back and forth from cup to cup (if you have two containers); this aerates the water and makes a huge difference. 👍👍👍 Great video

My grandfather always kept an eyelet you know the perfect circular thing with the little screw at the bottom. He had to fix that eyelet so that it was perfect circle. Twisted into a stick. Take his line. He had this plastic cylinder he carried in his fishing kit. He would put the line through with the lure, thread the line through the eyelet on the stick and just like fly fishing he would go fishing. Quite amazing. I miss him so much. Thanks Pap. For teaching me so many things.

I like how little stuff you actually use. Lots of these youtuber bushcraft ppl bust out their patented "waxed canvas burlap sac with two hundred feet of twine flint steel and char cloth, sandpaper olive oil wrapped in leather nitted with twine from the sewing kit which has three spools of varying thickness". I mean, you make it entertaining while keeping it simple. Like, throw some dry stuff in a pile, light it on fire. Chop hole in lake, throw hook in. Catch chubs, release chubs. Profit.
Wonder how you would catch fish without line though, like if you were caught pants down.

YT recommended a certain man surviving out there, who shall remain nameless, and I figured, go on, never watched them on TV so I'll give his channel a shot. Had to watch a couple of episodes to be sure it was all the same but way too much deep fake. Like at one point looking haggard and exhausted, seemed genuine too, before finding 2 snails to eat. He tried pond plants and vomited them back, making his situation even more dire if it was even remotely for real, as claimed. Cut to a day or two later and he claimed still no food, not even the snails that he saved and showed to camera, yet he was now as chipper as a squirrel running away from some dude with a beard and a bottle of Woodobo spice.
Almost as good as his "off-grid" new home designed to "save" the environment that took in just one delivery, several trucks, a few attempted car trips and ultimately 12 helicopter flights to make so hey, not only affordable but given it was made probably a couple of decades back, it's probably about half paid for itself in carbon emissions by now too LOL.
Long story short, too late, I've now decided one of the many, many reasons I watch WB is because he's not that.

Your toughness and skills are always amazing. Maybe the ravens were alarming on t he coyote? Loved watching you catching fish....that looked like a hoot, Try throwing you some Gamakatsu 02402 Octopus hooks in your kit. They are great for non-hook set catching. When fishing with a rod or hand lining all you have to do is start pulling in without setting the hook. They have a tough time getting rid of it. You don't look like you need any advice though. Love your channel man.
Great advice on making things better now....and look at it like it is permanent. Quick story.....I prepared early on for Covid....as soon as I heard about it. I had to buck heads with the wife but told her...this is the way it is going to be. I am preparing full on. Then...hurricane Laura hits. I ended up with 16 people (family) staying at our house for 10 days. I was able to feed everyone well. I had set back 80 gal. of fresh water and 40 gals. of gasoline for the generator and 5 gal. of kerosene for the lanterns. i canned 4 cases of corn, 4 cases of green beans and vacuum sealed over 20 pounds of various dried beans and had 30 pounds of bread flour. We were set. My daughter-in-law cried on my shoulder and said, "Thank God you are so well prepared."

Man I'd love to go survival, although i'd prob die from starvation or get eaten by squirrels and whatnot here in belgium.
It is something i'll do, learn and try to master later in life.
Now i'm 30 by the time i'm 50? all i can envision myself doing is going somewhere where it's good to hunt and maintain while living alone in the wild.
Far off dreams i hope to achieve them.. watching you and people alike really helps to sketch how it could be

Thats a lie, they may let you in some institusions only after this"vaxxine" but, its actually a medical experiment, and they may even make you do a vaxxine passport, by for instance, vaxxinating oncw every 6 months, and that may be, even after some time very dangerous, even neurologically, cause of very high amount of s1 antigens creating in your body, and those later getting through your brain/blood barrier, that may unironically lead to neurodegradation diseases, so stay careful wirh this rna bs.

A good tip is to put some Vaseline on the edge of your firebait container that way it’ll last longer, after about a year or 2 it will dry out and get “stale”

21:42- i keep the same thing in my suv, along with some basic camping and fishing gear, cuz i do a lot of bonfires with friends, i like to randomly go camping at the last minute, and you never know when you're gonna get stuck on the side of a back country road or off road in an area where people don't usually go.
i keep mine in an old bait jar, like the one you have with the dough bait. i used2 use an altoids tin, but i live in the desert, and i didn't like having to clean up the vaseline that would melt and spill out all the time.
i solidly believe that if you can't start a fire with cotton and vaseline, you need to rethink your life

Use a bigger hook, and use a chub for bait. In Minnesota we use a minnow called a chub for bait.
