I feel like every season of Alone should feature Greg just wandering from contestant to contestant, building some contraption or tool for each of them, like some kind of wandering druid nomad guy.
You remind me so much of my grandpa. He was a natural engineer. Because he had polio from when he was a kid, he always had to create so many things to help him in his everyday life. We lost him 7 months ago to cancer. I just needed to tell you that I really appreciated this video and it made me feel close to my dear grandpa. And I’m so glad it ended up working! Good for you, Greg!
I love how Ovens shows you the entirety of the project, unlike other UA-camrs who cut out their trials and only show their final product. Great Work and amazing channel
This guy is awsome.. im doing my first 2 week solo camping trip this week and this man inspired me alot.. I can't afford any of the cameras and stuff at the time.. but one day I'll get there.. I love the invention to.. very creative. I love it
man greg...beautifully done. a true master at work, you are a true visionary. nothing better from Lake to Pan. watching the fish-o-matic evolve was one amazing thing.
Bro, as someone who lost their grandparents all of a sudden then regretted not spending more time with them, I just wanna say, even if it’s a boring activity, do it. Sooner or later you’ll give almost anything for one more day.
Most people lack an appreciation for the time and effort it takes to go from the idea, to the prototype, to the finished product. Well done here. Stay safe.
This build is certainly challenging, and your persistence in continuing to make adjustments until it works is very inspirational. I also enjoy the fact that you included simple errors along the way and don’t let your self get discouraged by them. Great video sir, thank you for your effort! I really enjoyed this one
Love you. Haven’t watched before and I just watched the duel camping/ subscriber teacher/ learner challenge and I love every second of it. Let alone creating and simplifying, and people don’t know what they are made of now adays, even myself. Thank you. Let alone someone catching their first fish. Reeling to the tip because of excitement, gets me all lit up with excitement.
Next version: when the pan gets pressed down by the weight of the fish, the pan's downward movement trigger a spring mechanism to swivel salt and pepper from the left and right side of the pan to season the fish. :) Please make!
- Actually, I was thinking that the oil/butter and seasonings should be already there, but the mechanism that turns off the motor for the reel, also activates a spark trigger to ignite the tinder under the pan, so the fuel doesn't start burning until after the fish is in the pan, and the seasoning and oil/butter will not burn or have to be dispensed. That was what i was thinking would be working better while watching it because otherwise a lot of the fuel could burn away if the fish doesn't catch right away, like say a half hour before it gets a bite, then most of the fuel would be used up and the fire going out.
This was pretty cool to see, especially in the 'trial & error' mode you made this video in. I can't wait to see the greatest version you ever make of this. Great job, Mr Ovens.
Im so freaking pumped to see that trap work. Love that you stayed dedicated to completing it. Glad to see it from beginning to end. Good ol fish-o-matic.

Honestly the best thing about your videos is your editing! You are actually amazing at putting together an incredible smooth and fun to watch video. Great job 👍

The last fish you caught and cooked seemed to be a lot LESS lively than the 2 before it, even though I think you tried to pull a fast one on us i have to admit you sir are a genius
Agreed. Others flopped enough to shake the whole thing around if not just yank off the hook. That one where he yelled, " OHH RIGHT INTO THA PAN" It was still, not flopping at all. If a fish was hungry enough to hunt, it would not be still as a block of ice when caught. Facts. Also still agree he is a low-key genius!
