  • 06 Chevy Aveo Repairs - This video Describes how the Valve cover gasket went out on my 06 Chevy Aveo and all the Other problems it created. The other problems were; Oil in the spark plug wells, catalytic converter plugged up then the Erg Tube blew and ERG housing blew a hole in it too. Other small repairs are mentioned in the video are Intake hoses and O2 sensors. Below in the comments Is a list of some of the parts and where I found them for a reasonable price. Most of these repairs are relatively easy. Look in the CHEVY AVEO REPAIR LIST to help you find and fix your Aveo repair problems. Good luck to all!

    Items that go on these cars include valve cover gasket, lower radiator hose, tail light wire harnesses, including the 1157 tail-light bulbs; etc. I recommend you have the lower radiator hose removed completely & inspected. It balloons at its base close to where it connects to the engine. This is not visible unless the hose is totally removed & inspected.

    My Dad has a 2010 with 165,000 miles. Aside from a couple of sensors and a few other minor things it's been a good car. My Dad does Not baby it. As a matter of fact he really drives it pretty hard. Oil changes every 15-20,000 miles with Castrol semi synthetic. It somehow runs, well, beautifully!!.

      I think they are pretty good cars. I love the gas mileage. I baby mine, lol. I put new parts on before they are needed. I don't like break downs lol.

    As you said in 1:35 was problem with my car (greasy water block the tube, so faced the initial throttle lag i.e when I press the throttle at low speed my stalls when I release the pedal it accelerate ☺️)
    Finally fixed by removing the greasy water block by blowing air (note: remove the tube completely and blow the air)
    I watched this video before 4years with out any problem but now it helped.
    I can here to know the name of the sensor which the tube connects 1:35
    Edit wow you have solved my double in another video (map sensor vaccum tube)

      Yes, it's the map sensor that one of the hoses attached to.

    Am I the only one with a 2006 Aveo that has no issues? I bought it new in 2006, when gas was first over $4 a gallon. But its 11yo now. And I only have 38K miles on it. But it looks like new, it runs like new, no rust. I JUST replaced the front brake pads, on my own. I have only needed tires, oil and filter changes, changed out the coolant, other fluids, normal upkeep.
    People call them 'throw away cars', same as the Dodge Neon, and the older Hyundais, and Kias, before they became overstuffed rolling computers and cost $25K! I love my 'simple car'. All those tiny motors/computers that roll down the windows, move the seats, start the car before you get in it, lock the doors, heats the seats, etc....they ALL break. And they are not cheap to fix.
    It isn't a Corolla, but it is paid for, only needs normal maintenance, and the timing belt that is suppose to break in 5 yrs/50K miles has lasted 11yrs!!!. I KNOW I have to replace that belt, and it is a BIG repair. But thats it.
    Guess I got one of the good ones. Or I take care of my cars. IF I HAD to buy a used car now,it would have 150K miles, smell of smoke, be rusted, not know its past repairs, probably have faded/crappy paint. I have a car that looks brand new. Isn't 'fancy', but it also doesn't cost me $450 a month for 6 yrs, or breaks down constantly. All the new cars are junk. Even Toyotas/Hondas. Times have changed.

      There are A Lot of Aveos still on the road. I see sooo many every time I'm out. I notice on the expressways I see a lot of them. People are using them to commute back and forth to work. They are great on gas and easy to work on too! I also notice that a lot of other cars the same age their are very few of them left. I'm still loving my Aveo.

      Those who live in salt/snow belt states, finding a decent older car with little or no rust can be hard to do, so new is just about the only way to go in those states.

    • @mrpoohbearlvr
      @mrpoohbearlvr 6 років тому

      Exactly the point I posted in here, I thought. I am 'lucky' to be in south Fla. so no salt on the road eating away cars. But trying to buy a 'new used car' is till VERY hard. You get cars/trucks with 150k miles plus, who knows what repairs it ever had, smells of cig. smoke, ripped interiors, usually dead paint, and a used car now, is still STUFFED with all the electronic toys all the car makers insist on putting in cars. And unless there is some kind of warranty on these parts your screwed.
      Lets not forget the ALL the turbos in just about every 'old car now' with a tiny engine to give it V-6 power, all the Kias/Hyundias. You cant get a non turbo! Imagine the price of replacing or repairing a turbo?!
      They put in a stupid little 1.2 liter engine in a car that needs a V-6 or more.
      Cant buy that car that a 'old lady drove to church on Sunday', for $1,500, in mint cond.! She died LONG ago:)

    I got the O2 sensors and Catalytic converter from Auto Parts Warehouse, (Autopartswarehouse.com). Its the cheapest place I found the O2 sensors and the catalytic converter. They work good and I never had a problem with ordering or receiving the parts. They were shipped right to my door. Just make sure the O2 sensor connectors are the correct ones.

      My valve cover gasket was leaking. It was winter and I took it to garage. They changed the spark plugs and sent me on my way. Hey All. Well I JUST had my 'timing belt kit' replaced yesterday. This is THE repair that breaks the bank on this car. I am sorry I forgot what year your Aveo is. Mine being a 2006 is suppose to have the belt/kit replaced at 5yrs/50K miles, or risk it snapping! Thus destroying the engine. AFTER the 2006 model year, GM made the belt last to 100K miles....but I think it is still 5yrs.
    Anyway, I just wanted to post that it cost me $771 out the door in Ft.laud. I got a 2 yr/24 month warranty on the parts and labor! Not a cheap 'repair/maintenance'. BUT it had to be done. There is no warning before the belt just snaps, and you have a dead car in your garage.
    Have you ever had it done, or done it yourself? Whats your mileage/year of your car? I have the old parts, the belt, at 11 years old, still looks new, no chips/cracks/teeth missing, it does look very shiny or glazed....dont know if that is normal or the sign it it getting ready to snap.
    The belt, is only suppose to last 50K miles, or 5 yrs. So it is like having an 11 yr old 'serpentine belt'. Eventually it is going to break, out of the blue, but if THIS belt breaks the car is dead! While the engine is opened up for the belt, you replace all the other parts, once it is opened up, you might as well do it all. Wish I could post a picture or two of the parts taken out, but I don't see a way to do it.
    The mechanic said the engine LOOKED terrific, it was the age of the belt that was the 'issue' for ME, not the mileage. But it lasted 11 years. Thats pretty long. BUT I also NEVER drive on the highway....ever. So...it might be because I only had city driving on it, that it didnt snap! I only have 39.5K miles on it. And I picked THE best kit to use. By Continental. IT comes with a 2 yr warranty from the factory. Auto parts never have that long of a warranty. But I got the 2 yr parts AND labor warranty from this garage. Thats VERY hard to get, I have never heard of it. Always 1 year at most.
    I just wanted to post this for everyone, and for 'Chevy Auto Repair'. Feel free to ask me anything about this procedure. It has been hanging over my head for the past 6 years, so I have learned a lot about it.
    Now I have a GREAT warranty, bought the most expensive 'kit' to put in with the most parts, 'Continental Kit', and replaced the coolant again, since they had to drain it out anyway, I had them put back in 'Peak LIFETIME Global' coolant in the car. I had to buy it and bring it, or I would have gotten DexCool...or 'DexKill' as some people call it. I got rid of that years ago. It was already turning to red glop in the cooling system, at the 6 year mark.

    • @Olly.sunshine
      @Olly.sunshine  6 років тому

      I'm going to have mine replaced soon, The timing belt and serpentine belt. Mine is a 2006 and it has about 65,000 on it now. So far still running like a brand new car. Great on the warranty with your repair. I dont use the DexCool (pink) antifreeze either. Good Luck with your Aveo!

      By the way how did you know my nickname?

    • @mrpoohbearlvr
      @mrpoohbearlvr 6 років тому +1

      I dont know it. did I say it someplace? I just put in 'ChevyAveoRepair', to let you know i wanted you to see my post. So we have the same car,except mine is a hatchback and less miles. Well at 65K start getting estimates FAST. OR if your that technical, do it yourself. But since I NEVER go on the highway, i do all city driving, my 39K miles and 11 years, I was praying for 5 years that it wouldn't break due to age, of the rubber.
      BUT my old OEM belt looks new to me. BUT as i have been told for YEARS, a rubber belt can look brand new, and break in a flash. So i was worried about it, because of the age, and in south Fla, the heat is unreal,so the engine heat and the general heat here put a lot of 'abuse' on the rubber belt. It isnt the miles, it was the age. IF you are still running the OEM belt to, I have heard people running it for 90K, and others have it snap at 45K!! Of course the 2007 model got the 100K mile belt on it! but still 5 years. Guess some of it depends on how you use the car, if you do highway driving, or like me, drive like a 'little old lady' in the city, and take it easy on the engine. NOW I can actually drive it again, like a regular car, and not worry about a belt I cant see snapping and destroying my engine.
      Glad you got rid of that DEXKILL. Dont know if you had the brown/red gunk built up in your system or not. I had it just starting, but now with its second full replacement of the coolant, since it had to be replaced when they replaced the water pump, it is fully flushed out and all Peak Global LifeTime. Never looking back on that:)

      I JUST found your post, I have a 2006 Aveo with 44K miles on it now. I had to have BOTH of my front bearings replaced 3 yrs ago. I must have had ONLY 24-27K miles on it!! And it was a $500 repair. The rear bearings were bad to,but ony like $50 a piece to replace. Still at VERY low milage. But those front ones I was outraged. I bought my Aveo new off the showroom floor and those go bad that fast?! i contacted Chevy and bitched to high heaven,they couldnt have cared less. my 3yr/26K mile warranty had just ended like 2 months earlier,but they didnt care.
      How much did it cost you to get it replaced? Did you do both? Just wondered. I am in Ft.Laud. Car repairs here are high. Where are you located? I had the bad one done,and was told, 'well that means the other will go soon,so you should do both'. I did it,but ti was $500. How much for you?

      $500 I was in Destin FL. I got it fixed at Meyer's automotive. I recommend them if you're ever in that area. They know what they are doing!🙂😎

    Here is one for you all!!! I have a 2005 Aveo runs like top but after about 10 miles down the road starts to feel like it’s missing hold and check engine light comes on and start blinking and transmissions goes down a gear rpm goes high and you are not getting far.... dose it very time... so I pull over turn off car wait a few minutes and start right up till you push throttle a little hard and back to missing!!!!! Anyone have a clue????! Mechanic can’t find what is wrong cuz at the shop it runs fine???

      The O2 sensor before the catyltic converter. will cause this It controls fuel to air ratio. That is exactly the way mine would act. If not the O2 sensor check EGR Tube for leaks and intake manifold hoses. Good luck with your fix.

      Check your EGR Tube for pin holes or a crack.

      Also check on intake manifold hose for cracks on the connector rubber ends. It goes to the map sensor.

      @@Olly.sunshine Thank you. It seems to look different even on cars of the same year! I dont know why...but I found it weeks ago...still haven't replaced it, just wanna do it, it is cheap to replace, like $10,and it is 14yo now,o it can be replaced and maybe prevent problems...whatever it prevents:)

      I do the same thing with cheaper hoses they get old and get cracks. It definitely helps stop breakdowns on the road.

      So funny I just said that to someone the other day as a joke. It's nothing to 😂😂 about though. My father had a stroke in his elderly years. It took him awhile to recover and he never fully recovered. Hard work and prevention is key 😀

    All those repairs are unrelated to a valve cover gasket

    • @Olly.sunshine
      @Olly.sunshine  4 роки тому

      Yes they are if you catch it right away. If not it will ruin all those parts. It was below zero and I took it to a garage because I don't have one. They told me it was something else and litteraly ripped me off. Got the valve cover repaired and yes all the other stuff too
