  • In this video we go over some car maintenance/restoration on the oil aspect of the car. The previous owner missed some oil changes causing alot of oil buildup in the engine, we used a product to re-atomize the oil to clean some of it out; then did an oil change. Plus, the process of finding a coolant leak in the AC System and how we fix said leak. Then the air intake hose breaks and we fix that as well. Thanks to RT Auto, this car should last a long time and the AC is back to working!
I want to thank Roy Toland: Owner and operator of RT Auto for his assistance with this project. To contact Roy for any of your automotive needs in the Pawhuska Area please call

We have the same car, except the svt. Basically no options and a 5 speed manual. We did add AC (only option) owned since new.
    Replaced 1 clutch
    2 timing belts (60K)
    1 AC condenser
    3 fan motors
Front and rear struts and shocks
    Cam sensor
    O2 sensor (front)
    Throttle body
    Intake tube
    Still rolling strong at 165K
Timing belt every 60K is critical

Thanks for the info we are about to get into the shocks and struts and I will check the timing belt asap I think I am starting to see signs of it needing replaced.

@@-10ranch timing belt was easy you will need the 41mm tool for the waterpump, replacing the condenser was super easy and fixed our issue. Maintenance is key on these little cars. The timing belt is critical or you will have a boat anchor. If you are in there to look at it, replace it and ALL tensioners and idlers, you’ll be glad you did. I did the first one (without changing waterpump) in an afternoon.

@@-10ranch thanks man I rebuilt everything on that car lol and it’s still running (needs a turbo) but hey it was a free car. Used all the suspension etc from an 84 GTI I was doing that had some rust issues so I swapped it all out. Even converted to 4wheel discs. Engine diesel pump and injectors all rebuilt in my garage (I did send the block and head out for minor machine work though) lots of fun

What additive did you use in the oil for the sludge?

What is the black box under the right headlight behind the bumper called? I’ve looked it up for like an hour and google keeps telling me it’s an “air box”?

    • @-10ranch
      @-10ranch  10 місяців тому

That is correct it is an airbox and I would have to look but I believe it is connected to the airbox that holds the air-filter and the one you are talking about catches sediment. If you need to I think you could get rid of it especially if you live in a city and don't drive dirt roads much, also if you remove it be careful of going through deep water.
