Dude I planted Carolina reapers last year, cut a slice and put in pasta and never recovered. Couldn’t eat another pepper all year. The home grown stuff is so much hotter than anything I’ve tasted before
@@sabrinawilhelm7964 shoot no that's a bad idea. The try channel had the Irish try that hot whiskey and they were miserable. I get habaneros from heb all the time and every once in awhile they'll have ghosts and reapers but not often enough. I needed a better supply.
I copped a bottle of this from the Bay Hotel in Lake Macquarie, and I noticed the blue strip, I found it was very cakey, had some grassy notes , and went really well with a Rocky Patel 1999 cigar.
I bought all 4 Woodfords. The regular Bourbon, the Rye, The Wheat and the Malt. Haven't opened them yet but am looking forward to having all 4 and doing comparisons to see if I can pull out the subtle differences between the grains when every other aspect is the same. I am Sooooo glad they did this! Because with Scotch Malt and Bourbon and Rye's from different distilleries are made different ways and different proofs. This is an excellent way to make a more "scientific" comparison and am so excited to try them 😁
Have fun. I've had all those 4 you named. Their rye is my favorite (of those 4, not of all ryes) then the single malt, which to me is a suddle bridge gapper between scotch folks and bourbon folks. Then their standard bourbon which is just okay. The wheat i won't even rank at all cause it's so different than everything i enjoy in a nice whiskey/bourbon. I found it much too sweet and light and floraly. Banished it from my bar and now only my gf drinks it. I really try to never drain pour
Enjoy mate, I can only get the regular Bourbon in the UK and it is good, has a kick to it. I really want to taste the Rye as I have been getting into these recently
Due to covid, I also missed my 40th birthday last year. Was supposed to spend my birthday month in Ireland. Here’s to all the MB’s out there that missed having a birthday.
Anyone that doesn't like smoky whisky needs to try to find a bottle of the Arrrrrrrdbeg and try it. I love smoky whisky but that one the smoke isn't too strong but after the smoke I swear its the best Ardbeg I've ever had. I get candied pears and banana bread with raisins. That would be the one to turn people to the Islays.
I cant wait to hear.... The nose on this reminds me of my dog. He likes apples and this is like he ate to many green apples and it upset his stomach. He passed gas while walking past a camp fire. Not just any camp fire but a white oak camp fire where the wood was green and the fire was started in the Morning. Not a red sweet apple but a green sour apple and my dog was wet from the morning dew... that is what I am getting on the nose. Not up front, it isnt in your face but very suttle and in the background.
I know the snobs will turn their noses up at this one, but it is not to be missed. Take a sip of Woodford Reserve, let it switch around your mouth, then after swallowing, take a small sip of Yuengling Lager, preferably, on tap. The combination of flavors is nothing short of magical.
In a blind private tasting we had at Woodford, of the 20 of us there, only myself and one other guy chose this as our favorite if that says anything. Lol
Good evening Gentlemen! I agree with Daniel American single malts or malted whiskeys I tried definitely taste somewhat bourbon ish, on a blind taste you definitely would probably not going to pick out as a malt most likely 99.9% people will say it's a bourbon, or American whiskey.
It was almost Canadian sweet for me. However, these made the GREATEST oatmeal cookies I've ever had. If you have any recipes that require vanilla, use this stuff instead.
... currently drinking too much whisky trying to get my first blend/ infinity bottle tasting good... (10 whisky blend trying to get the flavor and pallet to my liking.)
Daniel just curious if the cilantro has the same soap note that you pick up in some whiskey's. From an article I read some time ago about 30% of the world's population has a gene that makes cilantro taste like soap and not sure if you are one of the 30%.
When Daniel says malt I’m pretty sure he’s referring to barley. As a professional Brewer I’m aware that you can malt pretty much any plant seed and especially cereal grains. Why not call wheat, rye, spelt, oat, millet, triticale, sorghum, etc all malt?
seems it would be pretty different having 25% less corn and 41% more barley. on a side note, the best way to drink scotch is empty the bottle and fill it with bourbon haha only tried one scotch and that burnt dirty moss or peat is kinda baffling as to how it became a thing. if you want some good bbq you usually want some hickory oak or some good hard wood to smoke it not the rotten wood you found in a swamp
Lol at rotten swamp wood. I love all the smokey, peaty, musty rotten swamp wood malts, but I’m just now starting to try bourbons. Tried 4 Roses and now Knob Creek 9 year old. Good stuff!
The Double Oak is sign better than the standard entry release but is usually about $50 vs $30ish. I like their wheat whiskey. Lots of fruit, very sweet. About $35. All solid though if you’re a bourbon drinker.
The double oak is their best product but is 20 to 30 bucks more than the standard bourbon. Don’t sleep on standard Woodford bourbon. The double oak has a maple syrup pancake taste which is great for a after dinner bourbon. I still need to try the malt, rye, and wheat.
is it me or did Rex say inquired taste instead of acquired taste TWICE has he been saying it like that his whole life?! how did Daniel not catch that??? 8:50
Almost all bottelings in the US ( and most other countries) is done at 40% ABV (which is your legal minimum), in South Africa it is 43% ABV (which is our legal minimum because we are more alcohol tolerant, vra maar die boere🤣🤣🤣🤣). You guys sometimes do flavour drifts and A/B comparisons, it would be nice to see an A/B comparison for a specific whiskey bottled at 40% and at 43% to see how much diffirence does the extra 3% make to the taste.
Daniel: *gardening, minding his own business*
His neighbours: "Holy shit, that garden gnome is MOVING! Frank, get the camera!"
🤣🤣😂
* sniff * ... having this tonight and found this dynamic duo to guide me through it. Imma miss yall together. Magnificant bastards.
Daniel planting sensible things in his garden. I planted ghost peppers and habaneros
Those are sensible. When you have people over you can do the spicy challenges and laugh at those who think they can conquer the ghost.
Dude I planted Carolina reapers last year, cut a slice and put in pasta and never recovered. Couldn’t eat another pepper all year. The home grown stuff is so much hotter than anything I’ve tasted before

Big thank you Daniel and Rex for doing this for me. He loved the birthday gift.
loved the Isla from my first sip, thanks for your reviews. so witty and entertaining

You can only miss a birthday when you're dead.
I really like it. Just picked up a bottle last week it’s great
I thought this one was pretty good! Honestly a lot better than regular Woodford in my opinion. But Double Oaked will always be my favorite woodford.
Woodford Wheat is freaking great! I just can’t find it in Ohio and had to order it online.
I just dove in to the Peat and just happened to like it,I also like all things with big flavor,From Beer to Cigars and now to Isley Scotch !
Mmmmm...my fav accessible sippin whiskey is a double oaked woodford!

Those covers are fantastic and Rex's bottle looks like marv from home alone
I appreciate Daniel's honesty, especially as the sommelier, that he couldn't pick this out as non-bourbon.
Rex meanwhile...
My favorite malt growing up was the bull!
I just bought this today, im getting freshly cut wet grass from it. Like when you cut the grass the morning after a rain.
Still have the laphroaig on the Lagavulin shelf. When will Daniel notice?
I love this stuff. It's banana nut bread to my pallete.
That’s hilarious! My exact words after trying this was, “Wow, that’s a very interesting bourbon.”
Just watched Mississippi Grind. Really want a Woodford now
You have become Statler and Waldorf!
Everything smells like what Daniel did in the past week. It's amazing.
I think the straight malt is even better than the double oak. It's mellower, sweeter, and lets more of the signature Brown-Foreman cherry shine.
Great episode
Your Statler and Waldorf bottle cover Muppets need an episode voiced by Daniel and Rex.
