    I signed up about a year ago and it has definitely helped my game even though it’s hard to break bad habits. Everything that Clay has showed that is wrong I’ve done it. These videos are the best at explaining how to work towards a better swing.

    Clay I saw this video a few days ago and understood it to the tee! I am an older golfer about to turn 60 in few days. When I was younger I could hit my irons a long way i.e. 150 - 160 PW. Of course now as I become older and I had stopped playing for 10 years and pick it back up beginning of 2019. Well when I began hitting again I had to start all over again and I've been watching many videos but this one really hit home. I took all you taught on this and wow. I was hitting my 8 iron max 160 before, well yesterday I was hitting 172 to 176! My 7 I was hitting 170 to 175 now 185 to 192!! Oh and it felt soooo good hitting them flush and it felt effortless. By the way I also used it with my Driver..... I hit one 302 and average 291 to 296 before avg 270 to 280. THANK YOU!!!

    Fascinating. Gregg McHatton studied the "release" and found that even pro golfers release the club 1-2" BEFORE the ball. At 25:46, your shaft is actually showing a release (based on the bend in the shaft)! Still, your instruction is amazing as I continue to struggle with "casting". I have never taken a divot (on purpose) and continue to do my best to STOP CASTING. Thank you for your work.

    I went through the TSG system this summer and was struggling with covering the ball. That was until one of your recent videos where you stated that it’s impossible for your hands to provide forward shaft lean without opening your hips at impact. I’ve always guarded my lower back from pain due to early extension and that held back my hips but keeping my posture at impact and rotating my hips (versus bumping them out) doesn’t hurt at all. Now I’m getting more distance, control, and consistency out of my irons!

    still working on this. It's been over a few months of practicing in the living room at home and at the range to get just a slight amount of forward shaft lean. The more I try to push my hands forward I shank it pushing the club away from my body. The only thing that has allowed any forward shaft lean has been body rotation focusing strongly on my left hip and shoulder pulling back towards a wall behind me feel. But even then I'm only slightly in front and my hands are just getting past not the 10 degrees that most club pros and actually professionals do. How could I work on my hands releasing a little later in the swing without topping the ball from not releasing? I am releasing just a tad bit too early compared to when I screenshot your impact position.
    Also in regards to your voice caddy, would you still recommend it as the best for distance and club head speed or is there a different device now that you would recommend. I've seen several people recommending the Flightscope Mevo as being very accurate with club head speed, ball speed, and spin. Have you tested any others or had any other experience with other devices to know which is the best.

    I just started playing golf a couple months ago and feel comfortable with left handed clubs but I’m naturally right handed. I’ve been hitting the ball terribly but I just feel comfortable swinging left handed. I just bought right handed clubs to see if that would make a difference with the power and accuracy but since I just started I hope it can be a smooth transition. I’ve hit a few with my right handed and feel I have more power but it just doesn’t feel right.Do you think it is a good idea to switch or should I just keep practicing with my left?

    • @lov4lax1
      @lov4lax1 3 роки тому

      Just my two cents but if you have the option I would learn to play right handed. A lot of clubs aren’t released in left handed versions, and I’m not aware of any inherent benefit of playing lefty, so I would maybe practice both just to be athletic, but prioritize your right handed clubs to take advantage of the fact that most golfers are right handed, most swing analysis’s will be right handed, and most gear will be for right handed players. Cheers

    This is a great set of videos. I never took the lessons learned right to the range. Shallowing the club almost forces hip rotation. I’ve struggled with body rotation forever and instantly my form was more fluid and club speed was faster. Still feels strange, but with work I think this is really going to help my irons game which is by far what I struggle with the most.

    I'm going to try the right wrist back at the range next time. I always try and think "pull through with the left side" which really helps me to take that right hand from dominating the swing and I hit a nice little draw. I try and imagine the back of my left hand hitting the ball so to speak.

    Clay how long would it take for someone as a beginner to hit a 300 yard drive?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  3 роки тому

      It really depends on how much speed you currently have. You need to swing over 110 mph and hit it solid to get a 300 yard drive every now and then. If you swing 115 mph then you would do it regularly. Play well!

    Are your hands on the downswing the same as when you're using the driver, keeping the palm facing up on the right hand and rolling the knuckles on the left causing the left-hand flat, and squaring it up on impact?

      yes

      @@TopSpeedGolf Great video's now just need to practice getting back that distance and solid contact. I have a tendency to go too fast on the down on downswing, seems that I just want to go all out and rip it. At my age now 70 I just need to control the speed coming down. When getting right tempo I can hit my 8 iron 155 - 160 yards, a big improvement from before. Any videos on Tempo control? Thanks

    How important is lifting the right foot fully after impact?

    The term "feel your weight shift" or "make your weight shift" almost ruined golf for me. I used to push so hard with my right leg trying to get my weight shifted to the left that by the end of the round my right leg was aching and my scorecard was too. I was sliding and swaying instead of turning. It wasn't until I finally found an instructor that taught me the proper way to turn which caused a perfect almost imperceivable weight shift. Now I never even think about the weight shift. It just happens. Thanks Clay for what you do.

    I actually did break my 6 iron just like that. Was a sign from GG for a shaft change.

    Does this applies to driver as well?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, but the ball position will be more forward so it won't be the same sensation.

  • @TheEclectic

    The problem I get when I really try to 'cover' the ball in a calculated way is that I leave the clubface wide open and I'll end up hooking or even duck hooking. I always worry that the shallower my plane the more 'timing' is involved in squaring the face to the ball at impact versus letting the natural arc of my arms/shoulders swing down on-plane. Is there a fix for this?

      I'd try to square the face earlier and this is what is discussed in our "The Move" course on the site available to All Access Members. What iron are you hitting? Is it 7-iron?

  • @TheRealByronBlanco

    Clay....honest question. I realize we want power and speed from our driver. But is it really necessary to kill a pitching wedge 150+ yards? At what point does it make sense to develop feel with your irons? Is it necessary to hit your wedge with the same gusto as your driver?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Byron, you want to have a happy medium of control and distance with your irons. It's important to hit them on a number whereas hitting the driver too far is usually not an issue.

    Clay, is it accurate to say your left hand comes UP through impact, but your right hand goes THROUGH toward the target? At least that is the "feel"?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  3 роки тому

      I'd say the feeling is both hands are driving towards the target through impact, especially if you get forward shaft lean and the hands/wrists in the position of the thumbnail of this video. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor

    Would love to see this same drill hitting from tight and then spongy Kikuyu grass. I think you would need to make some serious adjustments to get anywhere near these results. Not a criticism, you rock Clay, it is just golf.
