I seriously think this is the single best golf instruction video I have ever seen, and I have seen dozens if not hundreds.

Been down a bunch of rabbit holes with YT golf instruction, and for my body type, age and athletic ability nothing touches Clay’s instruction (for tennis too)! Also got the smoothest Tennessee accent of all time ( pause).
Keep doing your thing my guy! 🙏

i'm 14 been golfing 3 times in the past week because there is a driving range 5 minutes from my house and now I can't stop watching golf videos. I unfortunately am not very good at the sport yet and have only hit the ball about 150 yrds with a driver but it is so fun. I have been using my friends driver but I need to save up for my own set or something sucks that they're so expensive.

Only 1/3 through video and had to comment! This is amazing. Been fixing my swing to get more consistent (had too inside swing and no proper hip turn, leading to hooks and flip issue) and I overcorrected, creating the stand and flip issue/steap. Can't wait to adjust with the shallowing properly (was fighting the fear of shank and the roll hands will really help me). Thank you! Great content!

Thanks Clay, finally a pro that showed and explained to me the piece I have been missing for 30 years - the turning “in” of the wrist to close the club head. I have been away from golf for 16 years but now at practice I am hitting such nice compressed irons. I have had a good looking swing forever, reach sub 80 rounds when playing my top days, but never consistent, ever so often losing it high and to the right, not understanding, rolling over the wrists to compensate, having some quick hooks, the sense to be forced to rush a little bit. The sense of the ball sliding sideway on the face. Now they don’, full stop
This is world class stuff! Grateful /Andy

Been golfing for 30 years and low to mid single digit handicap. ALWAYS struggled with my irons and never de-loft them. Have always flipped and slid (and probably stand up) but I use my timing to try and compensate. Most days I'm ok, but some days I'm terrible. I overcome it with hitting good drives, chips and putts. The rolling the hands over is something I have never seen. Not like you show. It feels to me like a reverse of the flip that I do. I also am steep. I will be heading to the range this afternoon or tomorrow and trying all of this and have no doubt if I put in the practice, my iron game will improve significantly. I really appreciate the UA-cam video. Thank you.

what a fantastic set of tips. instead of having to watch multiple separate posts, Clay has captured all the key checkpoints in 30mins and unravelled the mystery of why I cannot generate distance. Despite the right motions and actions, I would invariably spear the ball to the right if I accelerated my club. Now I know the trick is in the wrists! Cant wait to hit the range again.

For me once I started bowing that wrist i started sweeping the ball more coming in shallow and really started elevating my longer irons up into the air a solid 10-15 more yards and adding much more distance and spin with the loft. Timing those wrists is big and practicing doing it for sure. Great info and spot on as always Clay.

Tried applying the upward facing wrist hinge on the range earlier today. Couldnt believe what results I was seeing, crushing irons/hybrids an inceedible distance. Unbelievable lesson, improved my tekkers no end. 200 balls hit, 90% of which were crushed 😳. Tremendous lessson and full kudos to you Clay!

Clay where were you 30 years ago, I am 70 years old only had 3 lessons. But what you teach is right on point. Before your lessons I was driving 200 to 220 with what you have shown I now hit 265, irons are 25 yard longer. Now consistently. I need more practice, it will come. The great actress Julie Andrews, said, amateurs practice until they get it right. Profesional practice until they see no wrong. Thanks again

Ok so I know this is an older video but it kind of gave it a chance since I've been having a problem with my irons. A little back ground I started playing when I was 28 I am now about to turn 60 on June 22. Well I stop playing about 2010 and started again beginning of 2019. So I started from the beginning and tried to work on my swing. Well back in the day I used to hit my 8 iron 160. When I began again I now I am older but still I should be hitting it at least 150. Well was having a terrible time getting back to my distances. Well I watched this video and understood exactly what he was teaching. I went today and warmed up. Well I started hitting my irons using this technique and guess what? I was hitting my 8 iron and avg of 172, my 6 iron 200 yrds, my 9 165 yrds, My driver!! 302!!!!! Yup and I am 60!!!!! Man thank you sooooo much!!!

Wow. I am 34 and have been playing since I was 14. After watching this video and hit 100 balls at the range. It was the straightest and longest I’ve ever hit my irons. Life changing! I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time and never knew it. Thank you!

I am a 10 handicap and this tutorial is a great learning tool and hoping to improve to single digit this year. My son is just picking up the game and has a nice natural swing. Your example of tossing a ball down the range is great visual for him to see the importance of rotating the hips!

@@TopSpeedGolf I went to the driving range and worked on it. It was relatively easy to figure it out with irons. I started with my 9 iron that I usually use for distances of 130 yards and I ended up hitting close to 145 yards. 5 iron was close to 200yards. But even better, most hits were straight hits... no fades. It was a little more difficult with my driver. Just need to work more on it. I noticed if I slow down my swing with the driver it helps and I still get quite good distances. I guess with the driver we all try to hard :) Thanks again!!

I stopped playing golf out of pure frustration because I couldn’t hit my irons well. Been to many teaching pros over the course of 30 years of playing and none of them explained it quite like this video, i.e. the slot and the wrist rotation on the downswing. Can’t wait to dust off my old clubs and try this at the range. Thank you Clay!

I watched this video, went outside immediately in the backyard and did exactly what I just saw and I'll be damn!!!! Ball jumps off club and feels so much easier striking the ball. The wrist turn was key. I'm new to golf but this has helped me tremendously. Not to mention I've watch tons of videos and nothing did for me what this one did! #FACTS Thanks!!!!

There is not much instruction on this essential topic. It's as if teachers know this and keep it secret, focusing too much on other areas of the swing, whereas where the rubber hits the road is really where it's at.

I implemented this recently and it works like a charm. The key for me, was @ the 3'47" mark. Gets my club perfectly on plane, and you can feel theres more power packed into that position. I even now focus at the spot in front of the ball and am getting an extra clubs distance on ALL my irons. ...and flying over the green. lmao. THANKS!...SO much for this video!

@@TopSpeedGolf Im curious to know what you think about me "focusing on the spot in front of the ball"? (my thinking being that "the ball is incidental" anyway. Its seems to have me a lot more accurate and / or a higher percentage of the time, hitting the ground AFTER the ball...) (?)

Had to pause the video at 2:40 and let you know this is exactly my challenge. I feel I need to use my right shoulder/arm to create power, but I'm actually going over the top and slicing my irons or worse, topping everying. I'm looking forward to hearing how to correct that........

I've added about 20 yards to each one of my clubs by hitting them "pure". For me the biggest eye opener and best practice was to open up my stance which forced my hands to be ahead of the ball and really compress the ball. The sound is amazing as well.

The slow motion views are what really helps me to ‘see’ the moves you talk about making. Real time is just too fast to learn a move.

Such great instructions, I told a few guys at my club to take a look at you guys videos. After practicing a little the iron drills to deloft the club i was able to feel the slingshot in my swing for the first time and i gained 2 clubs . Unfortunately when i showed up on the course i we t back to my old swing , so i guess I'll go practice some more on the range untill it gets natural so I don't switch it on the course
