In this video Mike teaches you the importance of compressing your irons through rotation of the lead hip going back and the chest down. In the downswing it is important to understand that when the lead hip goes down and back, the chest will move down toward the ground allowing you to have a longer divot past the golf ball.

Just when I think I can’t get anymore great tips from you guys. I find this ! Lead hip down and back with irons. Lead hip up and back for driver. Can’t wait to give them a try.
Thank you!!!
Finally someone teaching the bobby jones lead soft arm, he describes it as straight but relaxed. In this position you have control and ease over your swing.
Great video. Simple steps to great contact!
Love your videos! You have massively improved my game!
Thank you!

Great stuff, Mike.
Awesome video.
I struggle with exactly this and you unpack it beautifully
Thank you for watching Michael! So happy it helped!
Absolutely fantastic video, great content.
Your team is the best golf instruction on UA-cam. One issue I’m stuck on is my hips don’t sway in the backswing but they sway too far toward the target in the downswing and my head goes back behind the ball. I don’t know how to get my pressure on front foot but also not sway in the downswing.
Thank you so much for the kind words Jason we truly truly appretiate it!
1. Make sure you have reverse k setup
2. Make a centered turn… keep trail knee flexed
3. From the top you can push DOWN into your left foot and the feel your lead hip rotate away from the target back into your trail buttcheek 🍑
4. While this is happening move your trail shoulder down to your lead foot
Low finish practice swings are a good one, also got some shots on just your lead leg.
Oh wow you replied! Thank you! Wish I could get a lesson from you guys but I’m in seattle!
We love a long divot 😍
Yes, we do! And you do too now Nick!!! Let’s go!! 🐎🐎🐎
This is gold !
Thank you!!!
I have no idea who this kid is but he's good

I just subscribed after getting lots of help from another video of yours. Thank you for what you do

Great tips for irons and driver!
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Absolutely fantastic… Should any compensations be made for the longer irons as the angle of attack is not as steep…
This is really an excellent video . I turned on the cc and made notes in my journal. Brilliant lesson and post
That’s exactly what you should be doing! Thank you so much for watching out for your kind words! Taking notes from the videos and watching them multiple times he will begin to get better and have those epiphanies that turn into great golf!

Great video! Heading to the range now
Awesome us know how it goes! Remember, the video we were least prior to this one of the most important things, as this is having a connected centered backsiwbg and having your hands move fast as your left pocket moves back!

Great Swing!
Jacob is pure! If he puts a little time into his game and gets this move down, he could compete for a USGA Mid-am!
Great tips
Thank you!
So there's no "bump" forward and then rotation?
100th like! Another belter of a video. Thanks!
We appreciate it!
Is it the same feel of hip back and low for a fairway wood and long irons? The last two videos (including this one) have been brilliant for what I'm working on. Thank you very much!
Absolutely! When the hip slides forward the low point shots behind the golf ball and the path goes out, this is a dead recipe for top fairway woods, chunks, low on the face, right or overdraws anything but good contact!.. as you do this with the fairway wood and release the club the low point will move forward and you will get a pinch of turf in front of the golf ball, which is what you need to hit a high straight long fairway wood!
Thanks for watching !
When I fire the left hip behind me I pull/hook the ball but the strike is excellent
You may be opening the shoulders along with the left hip, leading to an out-to-in path. Shoulders stay square to slightly open at impact, ribcage a little more open, and hips the most open.
Surprised this guy struggles with irons. He has a really nice swing.
for short irons i pure it but have problems once i got to a 3,4,5 iron. Do I need to swing those more like a driver?
"I never had that feeling before"
Mike * "Right cause you have never been a good iron player." haha🤣 shots fire!
Glad you caught that! 🤣🥲
😂😂😂 We have so much fun with our great students and with what we do! We really enjoy sharing it with you guys! Thank you for watching!

Key point trial shoulder over front foot
In my case left over right foot after watching video 4 times
Hahaha we are still learning everyday too! You have discovered a key right there though! Left hip back right shoulder down to front foot!
Great drill for that here!

Hello just another question :
Divots are poiting left of the target ?
Thank you.
A professional divot will be in front of the golf ball, straight or slightly left. This is because the body is turning abd opening up through the ball and the arms are attached to the shoulders so they will eventually go left to! If the arms were behind your body, the divot would be behind the golf ball and to the right, indicating a chunk, Ethan, a left, or a right miss. If the arms get moving first and get in front of the bodies rotation the divot would be in front of the golf ball and slightly left. Indicating a solid straighter shot!
Thank you for watching !
I found this channel a fair while ago when they had low single-figure subscribers, I said it then and I'll keep saying it, these guys are the best instructors you will find on YT. Broadcast this channel to your friends.

@@PorzakGolf Subscribed and looking forward to twice as much instruction.
What would cause pulled shots with lead hip low and left feel.
A steep downswing(disconnected backswing), a strong grip with closed Clubface
Great lesson, I wish you show more side view of the swing rather camera in the back
Thank you
Would a split screen be helpful? 🤔
I think I found my secret - LATE RELEASE!! Drill on saving the speed until right before impact please.

I don’t understand the sentence: Left hip low and left. What means low? To me it stays level.
This is a feel for somebody’s hip, who shoots forward and up!
Thank you. Makes totally sense to me.
Should see Mike teach more often, so simple, is the way he does it...

Any idea why Tiger doesn't take a divot when he's flushing it? It seems like we should try not to make a divot now 😅
“It just is what it is” 🐐
Because he was yanking his chain. We've all seen massive divot from Tiger.
Haha! No doubt! TW is the best and just loves messing with people 🤣🤣🤣
I think its because he is trying to take spin off with almost 0 attack angle most people want spin with irons
“Because you’ve never been a good iron player!”
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 we love our players and have so much fun with what we do!
Do you like presetting the hips open at address?
Not at all. That negates the bodies regular turn.
What if these feels make me shank it?
it’s most likely because one of two things. Number one as your hands move into the golf ball your right palm is facing the golf ball in your club face is wide open. You can do some slow motion practice isn’t posit impact. You can feel your left knuckles move more towards the ground or the local on your glove move more towards the target impact you’ll see the face square up.
The other thing that could cause a lot of shanks for players win the right leg moves forward towards the golf ball instead of staying underneath the body as it rotates!
Pretend like the inside edge of the golf ball closest to you is the middle of the ball and try to hit that. Essentially you’d be hitting it more on the toe. If you did that successfully, which is what you need to get rid of the Shanks.
@@PorzakGolf right palm should be facing the ground
This really isn’t true. Just look at any tour player and they all move their hips towards target while rotating.
And he also did it in this video when he was doing it ‘properly’.
Hi David. You are correct! Technically and kinematically, the hips move .02 seconds before the hands begin to move in the downswing this has been measured. A human can’t feel this small difference so to a human it happens at the same time. Although you see Rory McIlroys hips open up first it is not something he feels. The other piece of interesting information is a tour player hands will accelerate 24 to 28 mph in the downswing.
The hand speed will well outpace the rotational speed of the hips. So the player will feel the hands much more!
You can check out some of our videos on the horse race analogy and understand how this is an essential aspect to get the arms back in front of the body on the downswing that very few players do especially if they’re thinking about opening their hips.
We feel one big issue with golf instruction today that her to the public’s chances is people teaching technically what happens when it’s not actually what a human being would need to feel to get the same results. Opening up your hips first and not paying attention to your hand speed would be a sure fire way to get stuck.
The final piece of information is the tour players like Rory can disassociate their lower body and upper body, they can open their hips without opening their shoulders. 99% of golfers cannot do this, so when they do hear on TV and and in books to open their hips, their shoulders open too and this causes a large number of issues on the downswing most well-known being the dreaded over the top!
Hope this helps!
Thank you for watching!
Superb
Finally someone explains this. I slide my hip forward and take a big chunk with no distance. I'm going to practice. No one explains this ever and this is where i suffer. My right shoulder goes down and i chunk with no distance. I think you just saved me from quitting golf
Hahahaha! That’s exactly what we’re here for, is theHelp as many people as possible enjoy this game, play better and not quit, because it’s hard!
