Cavalier Clay wins on the spot because it holds my hair in place even with the weather conditions. The hours that this clay holds my thick straight hair is about 9 to twelve hours . On the other hand Claymation holds my hair for only two to three hours. With Transcend it only works best with my short to medium length hair.
Cool I might have to try Cav. many reviews regard Transcend as more of a wax then a clay. so I am surprised that Kai reviewed it as a heavy clay. for me the heavy wax feeling in my hair was uncomfortable
I wholeheartedly disagree. I guess it depends on the hair. Cavalier Clay has sucked for me. My hair immediately starts coming down from a pompadour form as soon as I leave the house. Plus, I feel like it’s been weighing my hair down as well since it can’t stay up in its high-volume form…
Hi Kai, I know they are different product types but how would you compare Lockhart's Fire & Brimstone Clay to Arcadian Matte Paste? Which do you prefer? Thanks for the great reviews!
My first and only hair product is Cavalier Clay. It works as intended and is fine, looks good too. But the application process is too much effort for me, it's so grippy on dry hair. I see that you use it on damp hair to get around that, which does work. I think I want a more creamy less grippy clay-pomade next.. easy application and more wet, to apply to dry hair. Then I can try get a more flat slick combed to the side style.. but without being wet and shiny.. I want it rather matte. I see a number of potential options for this.. but I am no where near figuring out which one is ideal for me. Tricky stuff. Your future video on light clays, seems like it could be rather useful here.
Siberius, try morrocanoil texture clay. Its a kind of creamy clay but gives a medium to firm hold that will last in thick hair for about 6 to 8 hours before loosening a bit. An extra scoop really brings up the hold.
I would use something that has kaolin towards the top of the ingredients as it tends to swell and plump up your hair giving it more body to work with. Hope this helps if you see the comment, I know it's been a while since you commented lol.
@joey munoz which clay you recommended for now? Hanz de fuko is another failure.. After 5-6 hours hold dies... I still didnt use cavalier clay.. I can suggest Got2b phenomenonal texturing clay. It is far better 6X equivalent product than expensive products. Crazy hold matt finish easy to work, easy to wash out.
@joey munoz yes mate there are some good cheap but very specific products available on market. You gotta check reviews. Reviews are money saver not just google from youtube too. If you are serious about clays I will suggest you use Got2b phenomenonal texturing clay & if your budget is good go for Bluemann cavalier clay. Both are basically same High hold, matt finish good volume Extreme texture. Got2b phenomenonal released a hqir spray too. So no worries. Under 8 pounds you got the got2b. Dont need to expense too much. You just need a product that works for you. We are not hair professionals. But we have a choice.
@joey munoz the Petroleum based & gel based products are worst. They dont hold hair, melts on hot weather. Some dry out hair like sticks, These are just night groom products. Dont use.
Slightly worse for me. I really looked into it cause I did like it some while back when I used it regularly. But I found it has just too much shine for me right now. So it didn't make the list, but it was a close call
Yes thx for the input. I was under the impression that Ocean was one of your favs from that review. Yea for me it was to oily. . I also heard from Many that Cavalier clay can get very greasy quickly. all subjective.
You guys with nice hair can rub dish soap on your hair and it would look good. Someone with short thin hair needs to do these comparisons. That way we know it’s the product not the hair
Can’t wait for the light clay video! Top 5 waxes?? Thanks I’ve ordered cavalier clay, fire and brimestone matte clay, m paste, Arcadian matte paste, apothecary 87. Already own- monarch matte paste, 5th sample pomade, wax zero 😊
Csal43 what’s your favorite products?
@kaigroomed do you have an updated (2023) version of your top heavy clays?
Nice job Kai. Congrats on your thesis.

Aprolifix Blue have you tried Transcend yourself.
Yeah I tried it that's why I made the statement :)

Nice video Kai!keep up the good work

This is such a killer video! I love it! I’m a professional hairstylist and have my own UA-cam channel and love your videos 👍🏻
Nice video :) Would any of these clays work with a looser, messy hairstyle?

Siberius Wolf or you could try a matte pomade
maybe you should try arcadian clay pomade.. those one has some characteristic with your description, Kai had review it too
Use v05 matt clay

Good video, agree with you on the list but i would put the salon guy xl clay as the best
Doesn’t work at all for me. :D
What do you recommend for thin hair?

I think I might get cavalier clay . Have you tried apothecary 87?
Yes I have. It's more of a light clay
which one is the most matte out of this?
What you reckon is your most strongest, high hold product in your collection?
The blumann clay always when super grease on the back half of the day for me.
What about Baxter of California clay ;
Not good no hold

Is Ocean Clay at least as good as Claymation?
Slightly worse for me. I really looked into it cause I did like it some while back when I used it regularly. But I found it has just too much shine for me right now. So it didn't make the list, but it was a close call

Oh man, no Arcadian Clay? I really enjoy that product, so if these are better I might try them.
To me, arcadian is not a heavy clay. It would definitely be in my top 5 light clays video though
MoroccanOil Texture Clay?
'' carter hair clay and Hunz de fuko ...the best ''
Thanks for the video.
You talk exactly like Jeremy Fragrance haha.
Snelle Psycho it’s almost as if they’re both German
No he doesn't...
@hij 😂😂😂
I love your videos and I think you are a handsome guy. I love your hair and beard. 👍🤩
Thanks, Tracey 🤘

Nah, man. My hair becomes dry so fast, it’s really not an easy going hair type!
Now how about the 5 worst clays...? ;)
Hanz De Fuko is not as good as what it's made out to be.
Dont buy these expensive clays, go for Got2b phenomenonal texturing clay. You want hold texture and matt finish, easy to wash out right? Go for it.
@badass:yea if you like a lot of synthetic chemicals in your hair that yea go for it
@hij taking a wooden stake and putting thru your heart is also organic but you don't do that.. genius
@hij are you five years old? .lol.bye
