    For me, my favorite hair clays that I am using currently are Cavalier clay by Blumaan, Lockhart’s fire and brimstone version of the hair clay (which only sells during the fall), firsthand supply clay pomade, and Daimon Barber texture clay. These products all behave what a clay behaves like and they all give me great texture.

    Hi Robin,
    Even I have fine hair type but a bit wavy when it grows out.
    I've been using Arcadian Clay Pomade & it works great. Adds a matte finish & Kaolin swells my hair to some extent. Hold is also a medium or say firm.
    Haven't used a product with Bentonite in it so planning to buy the Moroccanoil Clay. Hope it has more swelling effect & easy to apply like the Arcadian.

    Great stuff, Robin. I noticed that some clays you've rated highly in previous videos contain petrolatum/petroleum jelly, but none of the clays you recommend here do do (as far as I could tell in a quick check, I could be wrong) I have read that petrolatum isn't great for the hair and was just wondering if this factored into your decision-making at all. Many thanks.

I usually use stickmore styling cream, but it is out of stock and I haven’t found anything similar in terms of hold/matte finish to control my thick, wavy hair. For me its Baxter of California Clay pomade and the Morocconoil texture clay. I find that the Baxter clay gives me perfect combination of slickness, texture and natural shine which I really like and amazing hold. And then when I want to have more "loose hair" with more texture and movement, I use Morocconoil. The only slight drawback from the Morocconoil is that I find it feels slightly dry in the hair especially after e few hours, where the Baxter seem to hold better on the touch and in shape. But for me its the perfect combo. I also like Kevin Murphy, I find that its probably one of the best second day hair products. Like if I have oily hair, nothing can beat Kevin Murphy in dealing with that imo

    • @jordanebacher

      Baxter was the best till about a year ago. I reckon they have changed the formula, as it now has next to ZERO hold. I've used it for 5 years but the last 2 tubs I've got have been a noticible downgrade which is a real shame, hence why I'm looking at videos like this!

    Hey! Greetings
    I have been watch your videos since the beginning and I really love them. Could you please help me with choosing the best hair clay for my hair condition? I have soft thin hairs. The volume is less. I do gaming a lot, so after using headphones for so long, my hairs got some intense wave at few surfaces of my hair. I can't fix it no matter what which looks really irritating. I want either to add good volume to my hair, and give them a straight shape,(hold) without those waves. Or I want to backbrash them perfectly (throughout the day).
    N B : whenever i try to backbrush my hair, my hairs get wavy and goes different direction when they dry up.
    And I prefer non oily clay! Thank you so much.

    Hi. I used to use Revlon "Creator Matt Clay" a lot. However Revlon has discontinued it and its replacement is called "Matt Clay" (its a pink jar now). But the formula is completely different and now it feels weak and as generic as any other hair clay. What I really liked about it was that it left my hair with a "dry and sandy like" texture and sensation with good hold from the moment I applied it to my hair, even if it was damp. Its been years now and I cant find a similar replacement. I have tried products like Calymation and Baxter Clay Pomade, but all of them feel smooth and more wet. Does anyone have any similar product suggestions?

    i rarely used clay and my shear revival product has been there for about 2 years, it dries and feels different from the first time i use it. how you preserve hair product and is it safe for use after along time? you have alot of hair product, have you? 🤔

  • @alejandroberrios4756
    @alejandroberrios4756 2 роки тому +9

    For my hair, my favorite at the moment is American Hardens (Shear Revival). I’ve not used the first three clays listed in this video, I’ve struggled to find certain Alexa products here in the states and the Kevin Murphy and M3 aren’t necessarily out of my price range but they are more than I’m willing to spend on a clay when I get fantastic results with both Shear Revival and Morroccanoil. But in my experience, the American gardens makes my hair look the thickest (I have very fine hair) and the morrocanoil has just a bit more shine (still a matte product though) than the American Gardens does, so while I’d recommend both, for me, American Gardens could trick someone into thinking my hair is actually thick, it’s definitely more dense and textured to the touch than the morroccanoil, which is more similar in texture to Shear Revival’s Northern Lights paste

    • @Rat0713
      @Rat0713 2 роки тому

      What about the hold? I also have thin hair and am thinking about buying the American Gardens, but the only thing i'm afraid is the hold, since i've seen people saying it has a really strong hold but also have seen people saying it doesn't hold well.

    • @alejandroberrios4756
      @alejandroberrios4756 2 роки тому +3

      @@Rat0713 I’d say it’s a nice medium hold, so just for some context, I usually have to do a lot of bending over for my job, so if I just use American Gardens in my hair, by the end of a work day my hair is coming forward, and I might have some strands falling off the sides because of all the bending forward. I will also say that it feels very light in the hair even though it is quite a dry clay (but not the driest out there). If you want to maximize its hold so the hair isn’t moving at all, I’d pair it with a hairspray.
      I also have some quite u duly cowlicks though, so I have to spend some extra time blow drying them so that the hair doesn’t fall back in their pattern later in the day, I even have one in the front of my head, if you don’t have too many unruly cowlicks to tame, American Gardens should do the trick, and because it is surprisingly light in the hair, don’t be afraid to add more product if you want more hold.
      In conclusion, I’d say for best hold for American gardens, use a good pre-styler (whatever would work best for the style you’re going for), blow dry your hair as best you can into the exact style you want, apply American Gardens, and If you want to guarantee that style won’t move or change, finish with hair spray, hope this helps!

    Hi Robin, love your videos. I have really thick straight blonde hair, I tried Hanz de Fuko and find it can look a little greasy, or just doesn’t hold enough if I use less to make it look more matte.

    • @Filip_111
      @Filip_111 2 роки тому +1

      I think you should use even less of claymation.. Because that's one thing I recently found out with claymation, you only need so little of it to achieve really good hold. I don't even scoop, I just rub my finger on the surface and layering it maybe 3 times. With other products like Moroccanoil and pastes like Night Rider or Northern Lights I have to use big scoops to achieve anything, and the more I touches my hair through out the day the more those products disappears in my hair. With claymation it's the opposite, the more I touch my hair the better the hold gets through out the day.

Struggling to find a product that will hold it back without it popping up and creating a large pompadour sort of look after a few hours. Preferably want a product i can rework through the day so it doesn't set solid (but will accept this if this is the only thing that will do it). Anyone got recommendations of products that may work? Hello. I'm 23 and I have fine hair. I can see my scalp easily when I run my fingers through my hair. I was searching for a solution and I found your channel. I wanted to ask a question about Nioxin system 1 and 2. It says progressed thinning on system 2 but I don't think my hair density is too bad but I have hair loss. When I take a shower and use shampoo and conditioner I've got so much hair on my hands and long ones too so I don't know what to do about that. Also I moved to Japan 2 years ago and after I moved little pimples started to appear on my skull. It itches and they do not go away they don't heal I don't understand why. So I wasn't sure which one to buy. This kills my self confidence because my hair doesn't look alive it looks dead. I'm sorry I wrote too much. Plss help me...

      They key is to add some grit to the hair.
      My best recommendation is to start with some sort of texture or sea salt spray. Blow dry your hair how you want it and then finish with either a matte paste or a clay. This video is great for clay suggestions.

    Im wondering whats the best oil based hair clay without bentonite. I have pin straight coarse asian hair. Water based mess up the foundation of my style, anything other then clay is too shiny to my taste, pomade or gel makes my hair way too spiky and unpliable, super strong hold products and wax based tend to somewhat cure which takes away the malleability and bentonite would make my hair too voluminous.
