The Mirage Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas strip has been at the center of a lot of attention lately since it has been sold to Hard Rock. The volcano is going to be replaced with a guitar-shaped building that will have 800 to 1,000 rooms. There will be a lot of construction to renovate the rooms, the casino floor and the business and meeting spaces. The BEATLES LOVE Show will remain for the time being. On December 19, 2022 the property will officially transition to being owned by Hard Rock. The property will receive an update in several areas, but time will tell how those developments unfold.

I stayed at the Mirage in the early 90's. I don't remember the prices but being as cheap as I am I doubt if I would spend $100 for it. There was no resort fee. The room was probably $59 a night. The Mirage doesn't look aged at all unlike the 2-story Sands which I also stayed at. That needed to be gutted and was gutted. lol The Guitar Hotel will be freaking expensive. Like I said, the Mirage doesn't look aged or dated at all. I think it's dumb to tear it down.

Another knife into the heart of Steve Wynn.
Wynn created new Vegas when he built the first new age mega resort The Mirage in 1990.
Wynn got into financial trouble and had to sell his Vegas casinos to MGM. MGM destroyed Wynn's pirate show at the TI and now HardRock is destroying the volcano at the Mirage. Both free shows are gone, as Vegas is all about money, money, money today.

My first trip to Vegas was in 2008. We actually booked our stay at The Mirage. But we changed it at the last minute. Once we were there ,we became Ceasers rewards players and never stayed at The Mirage, thru the years and many times we came back. Always regretted that we didn't stay at the mirage. We did come and see the volcano. My life partner Spike passed away 12/31/20 from covid. So I don't know if I will ever be back. (We actually planned on moving there, once we retired. So Thank you Jacob for all of your Awsome Videos. For now I live my Vegas crave thru you , Matthew and Pompsie n Greta. THANK YOU!

I stayed there in the early 90's and also at the Treasure Island. Some posts were complaining about the room and the small bathroom. Does it look aged or dated the last time you were there? I want to go visit.

Stayed there in the late 90s with a friend from Germany who had never been to Vegas. It was so elegant, and we loved seeing the tigers. It will be missed!

I’m from Australia, but have been to Vegas 7 or so times, I didn’t stay at the Mirage but I walked through it and saw the animal sanctuary and the Garden areas with my ex so thanks for bringing back some good memories mate, nice video, bye Mirage, hello Hard Rock

This is heartbreaking, knowing that Mirage will soon close its doors. I remember New Years Eve 1990, being at awe of watching that volcanic eruption show for the first time. I didn’t see the animals, but the Sigfried & Roy with the white tiger statue in the front of the hotel. Flowers In front of the statue when Sigfried got injured by one of the tigers. Too much loss of famous people in 2022, but now losing The Mirage…. 😪🙏🏼

So glad we went last month, didn't stay at Mirage but went to see Love and ate at Otoro. Sad to see such and iconic property go but out of the old the new will arise. I will be excited to see how it turns out once Hard Rock is finished. Great video Jacob 👍👍

I am so sad to see this hotel go. It’s beautiful and tropical which is what Las Vegas needs since it’s in the middle of the desert . It’s my favorite hotel resort in Vegas

Great video Jacob, great tribute 👍 think it has looked tired for years but just something about that place, had some good nights in the Jet nightclub back in the day for the brief period it was open, and just love the “Mirage” livery on the chips, such a cool place for everything it has offered over the years…. Thank You!!

I stayed there in early 90's. The shear size compared to what was there was immense and beautiful. In Vegas, change is now constant and investment has has gone into the millions. Food was inexpensive back then an over the top buffets . Promotions galore. Today....10 times higher, not only hotel rooms, food and airline tickets not to mention the extra fees. I loved it! Thanks for your great videos, I have the itch...lol. Great stories, you have really progressed with higher quality content which has caused the itch. 👍😃

Nice retrospective of an iconic Vegas landmark. My first glimpse of the Mirage was in 1988, my last trip as a bachelor. It was under construction and already dwarfed anything else on the Strip. When completed, it ushered in a new era. Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn and all the other megaresorts followed in Mirage's footsteps. It had an excellent buffet, reasonably priced, and the Snacks eatery that you sampled used to be a Stage Deli -- terrific deli, as opposed to the plastic stuff featured in Snacks. While I never stayed there, my mother-in-law and her friend made pilgrimages a couple of times a year and they loved it. Everything changes - especially Vegas - but the Mirage was truly a bit of history.

this hotel is one of my favorites and I stay there constantly. I am so sad its going. I have so many memories of going there since I was a kid. I was fortunate enough to see sigfried and roy AND the dolphin and lion habitat. Those were great times. Ill never forget walking through the doors where diablos is right now and seeing the tiger exhibit through the glass window in the casino and buying a stuffed tiger in the gift shop across the way. No one will ever understand this casino's legacy unless uve been there since the 80s
