Many years ago, 8 of us girls went to Bellagio buffet. They sat us at 2 tables not close to each other. They said because we were 8, they would automatically charge a tip on each individual check. We each paid our own check at the register. I argued that we were sitting at two different tables, what does it matter if we're 8 of us. They didn't budge on their decision. We had been in line for almost 2 hrs and starving at this point. If we went elsewhere, there would most certainly be a line too. We ate there but swore never to gamble nor eat at Bellagio ever again!!! And I have stuck to this decision!!!
When I go to an expensive buffet, I always leave feeling miserable. It's not because of the price. It's because you feel like you need to get your money's worth so you overeat! Why do I pay so much to feel this miserable? Now I go to off strip buffets for way less. Some Asian places have AYCE for under $40. If I get some seafood and beef, I got my money's worth, and I walk out full, but not miserably so.😁
When hubby and I went in 2011, they had a “Buffet of Buffets Pass” and for $49.99 plus tax, you can go to as many Caesars buffets as you want to in 24 hrs. That was the best deal ever, we had Bacchanal for dinner, the Paris Le Village buffet for breakfast and I think we went back to Bacchanal for lunch.

I loved the Buffet of Buffets Pass! That ended with Covid. They also got stingy with slot machine payouts. Even if you do get into the bonus round, it barely pays out. It used to pay out big time! I no longer eat at buffets, and I will no longer play slots when I return to Las Vegas.
I lived in LasVegas during the 80s & 90s and on a Sunday afternoon after watching football at the Stardust I would walk across the Street to The Silver Slipper and get a $2.99 buffet. Buffets were an Art of LasVegas. Thumbs Up emoji for Jacob.

Living in Vegas in the early 90's, my Dad would take us to the local buffets because it was cheaper to feed a family of 4 back then. The old Maxim Hotel and Casino had a tremendous sunday brunch buffet that included all you can drink champagne and fresh crab legs. Not to mention the omelet station had real melted cheddar cheese. This was something we looked forward to after church.
My first trip to Vegas was in 1998, stayed at the Sahara for $29 a night and lived on the brunch buffet every day for a week for $7. Hard to believe that was 26 years ago! The thing that kills me now is hearing people say "Well I knew it was going to be expensive because it's Las Vegas..." If they'd only known what it once was! :)
@@Icarusvampire curious as to why you referenced 1975? that was the year of my first trip to vegas and staying in the sands tower. you are correct in your assessment of vegas changing, but it has nothing to do with the times. that was when vegas was run by the mafia mob as opposed to now with the wall street mob. apollo global management to be specific. their shareholders want their dividend checks. that's where resort fees came from. deniro's closing narrative in the motion picture casino describes it perfectly. that was 1995.

Just the crab legs alone made the Paris buffet a huge value. Planet Hollywood had both crab legs and Middle Eastern food like chicken and lamb skewers. When you left those buffets it was like stealing money. You got $75 worth of food for $35.
Really like your channel Jacob. Before Covid, Red Rock (and I think other Station Casinos) had really high value buffets. Red Rock in particular had an awesome breakfast buffet for around $8 if you were a member. The line could get long with locals because it was such a good deal. I really miss those days.
I will always remember the Around the World International buffet at the RIO talk about a huge buffet. Food Courts are the flavor of the month now it seems. However I will go out of my way to a buffet if I’m hungry enough. Thanks for your hard work Jacob
Here are all the buffets currently open in Las Vegas: Currently, there are 18 open buffets in Las Vegas, 8 on the Las Vegas Strip, and 10 off strip. Here is the list: Buffets on the Las Vegas Strip: 1. Bacchanal Buffet 2. Wynn Buffet 3. Bellagio Buffet 4. Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan 5. MGM Grand Buffet 6. Circus Circus Buffet 7. Buffet at Luxor 8. Excalibur Buffet Off Strip & Downtown Vegas Buffets: 1. AYCE Buffet at Palms 2. Garden Buffet at South Point 3. M Resorts Buffet 4. Fresh Buffet at Westgate 5. Garden Court Buffet at Main Street Station 6. Market Place Buffet at Rampart Casino 7. Makino 8. Imperial buffet 9. Krazy buffet 10. Buffet@Asia
The Palms AYCE (All You Can Eat) is awesome and an excellent value. You can eat there free on Valentines Day if you are a local and get the coupon in the mail.
M resorts does not have a buffet Anthony's steak house in the M has a Sunday brunch for 2 hrs for about $100 need reservation Highly rated gourmet foods and good proteins
If you go to the cheaper buffets off the strip, the price is more reasonable. But on strip, unless it's a buffet your really looking to try or go back to, it's not worth it. It also depends on who you are going with too, if you and the people in your party can eat 3 or 4 plates, sure. If not, your better off going off strip to one of the cheaper buffets or other restaurants.
Although the off-strip restaurants and buffets can be substantially cheaper, if you're staying at or near the strip there's the problem of getting to them. Few are within easy walking distance (i.e.: 20 min. or less); the cost of transportation (not only in money, but time) would more than negate any savings.
I think ALL deserts on almost all buffets (except for Caesars Bachanaal) is sourced by the same company. The deserts at almost all buffets look exactly the same. Sams Town, The Palm’s AYCE, the M, and others definitely use the same place for their desserts.
I really liked the Aria buffet prepandemic. I was hoping for it to comeback but now it's a fancy food court. Thanks for showing this and keep up the good videos!
Everything about the Strip now is terrible. Unbelievably high prices on food, drink, hotel rooms, shows etc. Ridiculous pricing for buffets that most people could only eat a plate or two and then that's it. Almost $100 to eat at the Bachannal is highway robbery. The worst part about it is nothing will ever change for the better on the Strip because people will continue to go there and spend ridiculous amounts of money thinking they're having fun.
Yep same thing with Disney. "They'll price people out and suffer the consequences!" no they won't. People will go once every 3 years instead of 1 or 5 instead of 3, but if that's their bag, they'll find a way to pay for it. And those who said "nope" will make it easier for them to get there. They won't learn anything and laugh all the way to the bank
I ate at Caesars Bacchanal back in 2019 about a month before I left. It was about $59. It was really good, but not as good as Aria’s, which was about $54 or so. I am really disappointed they got rid of Aria’s buffet. I also like the Palm’s buffet. If you are a Las Vegas resident, you can eat there for free on Valentines day if you get their coupon in the mail.
I completely agree. If you're willing to stay at an off strip resort, you get prices that resemble old Vegas and definitely save money. Then just Uber to the strip if there's anything you want to do there.
Thank you Jacob for validating my experience. I have visited 3 times annually for 20 plus years and found the prices high, and the food quality has deteriorated steadily. The only exception in my opinion is MGM for breakfast/ brunch. Although 25.00 ,not bad for the strip.
You are so right. The Buffet as we used to know it has changed forever. Sad to see. I usually visit Las Vegas about twice a year. I usually end up paying about 33 dollars for a bunch / breakfast. Oddly enough I put the blame on myself and others for paying these high prices. The owners aren’t worried about getting us in the building anymore . They know we’ll gladly pay it no matter what the cost
There is always a point at which people say: it's just not worth it anymore. And then they'll stop paying, likely won't be coming back. And the deal with that is, once the price comes back down, as it inevitably will, people will remember that last time and go 'nah, I'm good. I'll do something else with my money." People remember how you made them feel and that idea persists for a very long time.
I have not made a trip to Vegas recently but from what I have seen Vegas channels I will be skipping buffets on my next trip. I would rather pay $25 for Ramsay's fish & chips than $75+ plus for the mediocre buffet food.
The Palms AYCE buffet is worth it. And, if you build up 500 base level play points, they give you 2 brunch buffets, which shows up on your machines' info screen.
When I was out there recently, I used poker comps I had earned at South Point for their dinner buffet on a Saturday night, after comps used ($10 worth), it was between $20 to $25 from what I remember. Golden Coral's in the Valley were, after having to purchase a drink because how can you eat a buffet without something to drink, was about $20. But yeah, MGM, and especially Bellagio & the Wynn, all expensive. Comps were used instead for Doughnuts, Iced Coffees, Slices of Pizza, or in the case of Wynn, not at all.
I can remember back in the 90s when I was a teenager my family and I would frequently go to the buffet whenever we were in town. I had such good memories of the Rio and Luxor buffet. I think it was 30 dollars a plate. But it's sad how that era of Vegas is now gone. Now if you want good value for your dollar you either have to do downtown or 1 of the suburban properties where locals go. Avoid the strip unless you want to burn a hole in your pocket.
When we're in Las Vegas we rarely go to a buffet anymore. Price is too high compared that you can go to a regular restaurant, sit down and be served for less per person, depending on what you order. Anyway, great video. Thanks
I went to Vegas in October 2021 to catch a ZZ Top show at the Bellagio. The food was authentic Italian, delicious, and made me feel good at the restaurant but it was expensive. Before leaving, I grabbed 3 pizza rolls type items for the road. I thought it would be about $20 and they were over $50. They will have to A/C D/C or Van Halen play before I go back to Vegas. Maybe I will take some MREs with me and eat in the room.
I remember the 10-dollar buffet in Vegas, but Jacob is absolutely right buffets lost money for the casinos but gained the cash back in casino gambling. That's what Costco does with their rotisserie chicken. It gets you in the door selling the chicken at a loss and makes it up by having you load up your cart with other items.
More than $50-$60? Hell, we used to pay less than $30 at Green Valley Ranch and sometimes got it comped on certain days! Then, Stations closed all the buffets saying it is due to the pandemic! THEY LIE. GREED is the real cause.
@@vegasmike4610I agree 100%. The food on Vegas buffets is not even that good. I ate at Wicked Spoon about a year ago. It sucked and definitely wasn't worth it.
As a local in 2018 I remember getting a 2 for 1 coupon in the mail for the Cannery in North LV. I loved that place, the prime rib and ribs were great and since I only paid under $8 each for the two of use, what a deal! Went there many a time. Loved now gone Sam's Town and most of the Station locations buffets. We never went to the strip except a few times to see Fat Elvis for free at a lounge act.
Yeah, we are local and I've stopped going to ANY Stations Casinos since they razed the Fiesta in Henderson and ditched all their buffets! They used to be a great locals casino, but now all they care about is building their new crown jewel casino on the strip! Screw the locals is the new slogan! They replaced the Green Valley Buffet with EXPENSIVE RESTAURANTS! Boo!
We went to Wynn buffet the other day with my girlfriends $150 tier match dining credit for her bday. Thanks for making that video Jacob, we owe you one! For 3 of us it came out to about $35 total for brunch. We got there at 1230 and didn't have to wait because of her status. We got to try the dinner items which started coming out around 1. It was pretty good, but for $80 a person I would have felt like I was ripped off, I'm not a big seafood guy though. We definitely won't return at full price, only on a crazy promo again.
I’m a local and recently went to Casablanca resort in Mesquite and it cost my wife and I less than 50 bucks for both of us to eat at their Buffett, and it was surprisingly very good.

I live in Reno, Nevada and the same trend is occurring. When I first moved here, the Thanksgiving buffet at The Atlantis was about $20 (seven years ago). It is now nearly $75. There are really, really great food choices in Reno, but not on Virginia Street! You are much better off by walking a couple of blocks off of the strip. (Plus, if you are into gambling, then the off the strip casinos will treat you better.)
And they knew how to take care of people and make them want to come back. The corporations taking over Vegas have ruined it. There's a couple of things I'd like to do there, but not enough to justify a trip.
@@joannewilson9209 I heard that Howard Hughes is who basically got the mob out of Vegas---and ruined it. (You never hear of multi-million dollar payouts anymore, either. The mob took 2%, the corporations take 30%).
Best food I ever had in Los Vegas was a Brazilian place, about one street off the strip. The special was an all you can eat grilled meat bar-b que. You sat at a table and they brought it to you and carved it off a spit. There were 5 appetizers followed by 9 meat servings plus vegies. After I finished the first round I was so full, I could barely move. Then the Maître came over and asked if I would like to do it again. Sorry but I couldn't. About $20 but that was more than 20 years ago.
The buffets Jason mentions are on The Strip or in high-priced resorts. There are PHENOMENAL buffets (with lobster) in the Chinatown district of Vegas (for between $25 and $50). Some are more expensive. They are mostly Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai. They have many different varieties of food there, though. Who wants to eat warmed-over American slop when you can have all-you-can-eat sushi (chosen off a menu and made to order) or a belly full of Chinese lobster, etc?
Our last trip was in the fall of 2019. At the Gold Coast. We used to go every year and usually got the room comped. We thought that the seafood buffet at the Rio was expensive, but we loved it. Now we just get offers for “free” rooms at the Rio, but the fine print says that you still have to pay the resort fee! That’s how bad it is now. They don’t even know what Free means! My question is, why are people still going to Lost Wages? 😂
Tried Wynn lunch buffet last week. Paid $150 for my wife and myself. I had to try it at least once. Being 55 years old, I can’t eat as much as I used to when I was younger. It was a great experience but I won’t do it again. I couldn’t partake in most of the offerings, but I did load up on the crab legs and shrimp since it’s something I normally don’t eat in a regular bases.
I spent five days going to ABC stores and CVS eating ham sandwiches and 9 dollar cups of cut up fruit. Average breakfast cost for a small croissant sandwich and an iced coffee is almost 30 USD. It's a joke.
The Wynn buffet is solid. $40 between 8am-9am during the week and $47 from 9am-1pm. Weekends are $46 during the early window and $51 during the later window
I moved out of Vegas to Mesquite NV last year. Virgin River Sierras buffet is great, reminds me of the old AZ Charlies buffet. B is 9.99 L 13.99 and D 16.99-21.99. They don't rush you out and never a line.
A few years ago we started to save over $200 a day by not eating at buffets in Vegas. Breakfast options: on the strip for under $ 10 include Denny's, or a place in Magnificent Miles shop (Ocean 7, I think). Late night breakfast could also by at South Point casino starting at midnight-3am. Cheap lunches at Pizza by slice, various taco shops, off strip sub shops. Dinner options Ellis Island or take the Duece bus south of the airport to the mall. There you'll find restaurants galore under $ 20 and no wait times or reservations needed.
I can no longer eat more than two plates of food, and with the prices around 70 bucks, it's just not value. You'll get more and better food just going to a restaurant.
The fremont casino hotel rooms were 20 dollars monday-thursday and got two free meal and drinks if you had out state dl or id. The rooms were large 2 beds.
If you enjoy all-you-can-eat options, they can be a good value. However, I don't consume large American-style portions so prefer dining at a regular restaurant.
Glad I got to experience Vegas in the 90's. It was an inexpensive vacation if you stayed out of the casinos. lol The airline tickets were subsidized, food was cheap, rooms were cheap and the entertainment was reasonably priced and good. BTW, the first time I ate at the Caesars Dinner Buffet, ( called the Palatium back then) I paid $12.95. All the Prime Rib and seafood you could eat! Boy, have times changed. I enjoy your channel.
I live in Las Vegas but for me the best and biggest buffet in the world I had it at Gastronomy, in the ultra luxurious hotel and resorts called Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, breakfast is around $100, but dinner is $103 the difference is $3, not like in Las Vegas where the difference in price between breakfast and dinner is abysmal, the food both at breakfast and dinner are of high quality, at dinner there is any quantity of seafood including lobsters prepared in any style and you will never see a mass of rude people trying to grab as much lobster as you can like in Las Vegas, our table was next to the seafood station and we rarely saw anyone coming looking for seafood, the cultural difference is very big.
In West Sahara, not far from the strip there is a buffet called Krazy Buffet, it is in West Sahara, lunch costs $13.99 and dinner costs $18.99, for lunch there is salmon, shrimp, steamed fish fillets, octopus in vinaigrette, mussels and other seafood, there is also sushi, for dinner there is much more seafood, for the price you pay it is a gift and the food is very good.
Enjoyed your video. I’ve been visiting LV for a long, long time and remember the days of cheap buffets, free drinks, free parking, $1 blackjack, and NO extort/resort fees. Miss those days, but still coming back every year, because there is still no place like Las Vegas.
There’s a buffet in “Vegas” the slogan is best $1.49 buffet in town sometimes the extra runny on some days and the chicken is yellow and the beef is blue.
Recently ate as a group of four at Bacchanal at Caesar’s and none of us was happy with the experience. Even if the food was great (it wasn’t… it was merely acceptable), our experience was majorly hampered by the staff who cleared our receipt off the table right after we sat down. Rather than them sorting out their own error themselves, a front desk person kept coming back repeatedly asking us questions and trying to sort out what happened instead of letting us enjoy our meal. It was very invasive and a mood-killer. Also the problem with buffets is it’s hard to enjoy the company of those you’re dining with. Someone’s usually missing out on the conversation because they’re off getting a new plate, so you’ve gotta REALLY be all about the food.

Binions Horseshoe casino had a Steak and Eggs special for $1.99 after 10 pm. The steak was very good and they gave you a lot of food. The good Ole days are definitely gone.
Kinda like Mr. Binion
yes, it was a fantastic bargain at 1.99 :)
Didn't they use to have a restaurant that only served an all-day steak meal for about 2.25.
channel showed a 14 buffet not onthe strip w crab legs
And there were .99 pizzas across the street 👍
Many years ago, 8 of us girls went to Bellagio buffet. They sat us at 2 tables not close to each other. They said because we were 8, they would automatically charge a tip on each individual check. We each paid our own check at the register.
I argued that we were sitting at two different tables, what does it matter if we're 8 of us. They didn't budge on their decision. We had been in line for almost 2 hrs and starving at this point. If we went elsewhere, there would most certainly be a line too.
We ate there but swore never to gamble nor eat at Bellagio ever again!!! And I have stuck to this decision!!!
Good decision 👏👏👏
Pretty standard, most restaurants add tip for larger parties.

The food coming from the mess hall where I was stationed at was better than the Circus Circus buffet.
LOL 😂, In the 70’s and 80’s it was $7.00 ALL YOU CAN EAT 24hrs….AND that included; Steak, Prime Rib and Shrimp!!!
Exactly! Thank the mob for cheap food and shows.

I lived in LasVegas during the 80s & 90s and on a Sunday afternoon after watching football at the Stardust I would walk across the Street to The Silver Slipper and get a $2.99 buffet. Buffets were an Art of LasVegas. Thumbs Up emoji for Jacob.
You basically get a single chicken tender for $2.99 now. Hard to contain the excitement!?
Silver City. Not slipper.
@@iambiglucas No, this was the Silver Slipper Casino that was on LV Blvd that had a Neon Slipper that was purchased by Howard Hughes because the Slipper would keep him awake at night so he shut it off. Slipper is now in the LasVegas Neon Meuseum

Driving long haul in the 80's, Reno was a must stop on the way to San Fran. $.50 bus ticket from TS to downtown and $2, $3 and $5 buffets at Fitzgerald's and other casinos.
I remember back in the day when you could get a cup of shrimp cocktail for 50 cents at the Showboat.
I’m sad to hear the Paris buffet is gone. It was one of my favorites in LV along with the Rio. Add that to the high table minimums and fees for everything, I’m in no big hurry to go back anytime soon,

Been to the Le Village Buffet at the Paris and it was awesome! Too bad they didn't bring that one back!
Main Street stations was very good for 7-8 dollars. Now it's around 25.
I agree, the price of buffets is ridiculous. I remember when Bellagio buffet was $26 for lunch. I still appreciate the South Point buffet.
I will always remember the Around the World International buffet at the RIO talk about a huge buffet. Food Courts are the flavor of the month now it seems. However I will go out of my way to a buffet if I’m hungry enough. Thanks for your hard work Jacob

Benn going every year from 2001. We no longer do buffets. Better to go local and order exacting what you want to eat. Keep up the great videos, Jacob!
Love honesty from a Vegas resident
bellagio buffet manager told me about most of the food, is coming from ghost kitchens now, especially deserts.
I think ALL deserts on almost all buffets (except for Caesars Bachanaal) is sourced by the same company.
The deserts at almost all buffets look exactly the same.
Sams Town, The Palm’s AYCE, the M, and others definitely use the same place for their desserts.

We’re not thinking we’re having fun, we are having fun. 😂
@@blazinbad4204 you can stay center strip for just as reasonable prices if not cheaper than some off strip properties. Especially on weekdays.
You can get an unforgettable meal (app, main, dessert) at a top-quality place like Morimoto or Jaleo for $65/person - better value for $ IMO.
Bellagio Buffett is not only expensive it sucks.
If that's supposed to be a premium buffet, it's very disappointing.
… it was great 20 yrs ago. 😅
Price goes up but quality goes down. Gone are the days of king crab, sea bass and beef Wellington
Buffets are not the same as they were 10 years ago. Nothing is like ten years ago in Las Vegas/Henderson.
You got that right and by this scenario and as Linda Belcher would say, "It's Awful!" as in an episode of Bob's Burgers.
I have not made a trip to Vegas recently but from what I have seen Vegas channels I will be skipping buffets on my next trip. I would rather pay $25 for Ramsay's fish & chips than $75+ plus for the mediocre buffet food.
Ramsays fish and chips is mediocre and a rip off! You need to come to the UK to get the real deal.
My late Dad used to love those buffets.
Personally I do not care for buffets; mediocre food that sits out for hours , I’ll pass

And the foodcourt cheap pizza and hot dogs.
I am pretty much finished with buffets in Vegas unless I am getting comped. I refuse to pay more than $50-$60 for a buffet.

I’m a local and recently went to Casablanca resort in Mesquite and it cost my wife and I less than 50 bucks for both of us to eat at their Buffett, and it was surprisingly very good.
I really enjoyed the Aria Buffet, I gave up on buffets in Vegas - we usually hit the Luxor for comp buffet and the dining room theme.
I can remember arriving early to a 4 day stay in Vegas in 2000, got a $25 room at 4 Queens for one night till my reservation was ready at Excalibur, it wasnt anything to brag about but for $25 bucks
Main Street Station & Excalibur have decently priced buffets. I recommend both.
In 2008-2012, lunch buffet was only $5.99 at Fiesta Rancho and Fiesta Henderson resorts.
Say what you want about the MOB but when they ran the strip food and shows were cheap!
Because Italians want you to eat. You're right. Even if you lost your shirt, you at least ate well.
And they knew how to take care of people and make them want to come back. The corporations taking over Vegas have ruined it. There's a couple of things I'd like to do there, but not enough to justify a trip.

Agreed, same number of rasberries in every muffin back then
@@joannewilson9209 I heard that Howard Hughes is who basically got the mob out of Vegas---and ruined it.
I don't think Palms or South Point are really considered high priced resorts, but I'll have to check with Jason😆
THANKS JACOB, GOOD HONEST REVIEW 👍👍
One other thing to note, I believe all of the MGM property buffets close at 3pm daily.

The Wynn buffet is solid. $40 between 8am-9am during the week and $47 from 9am-1pm. Weekends are $46 during the early window and $51 during the later window
There are so many good places to eat. There is absolutely no reason to inflict a buffet on yourself.
I moved out of Vegas to Mesquite NV last year. Virgin River Sierras buffet is great, reminds me of the old AZ Charlies buffet. B is 9.99 L 13.99 and D 16.99-21.99. They don't rush you out and never a line.
I went to the Wynn Buffet for my Birthday in 2023. Made a reservation and got in instantly.
Used to eat at the M Resort and Mandalay Bay buffets, good value, food selection and reasonably priced. Sad to see them gone.
Last buffet i ate at was the Luxor breakfast buffet in 2020, it was $19.99.
When I was in Vegas in 1988 the buffets were cheap. Like $4 per person because they figured you would lose your money while gambling.
I like your reviews. They're fun and informative. I'll still come to Las Vegas especially with your tips. Thanks.

Compared to the food in San Francisco, the buffets in Las Vegas are quite reasonably priced.
maybe don't go to Gary Danko 🤣
If you enjoy all-you-can-eat options, they can be a good value. However, I don't consume large American-style portions so prefer dining at a regular restaurant.
At the Wynn buffet I just pay to skip the line
Aladdin always had the best deal for dinner buffet. Rio seafood and carnival world both fun.
Bellagio and Wynn were pricey but good.
Enjoyed your video. I’ve been visiting LV for a long, long time and remember the days of cheap buffets, free drinks, free parking, $1 blackjack, and NO extort/resort fees. Miss those days, but still coming back every year, because there is still no place like Las Vegas.
😎
AYCE brunch buffet at brunch was 🔥 and $107 for 3 ppl was a steal. The wait was abt 1 hour on a Sat around noon.
