It's funny how some of us get used to the myth that heat tools cause too much damage to our hair, when keeping it wet every day can do even more damage. For 3 years, I was just washing my hair every morning, combing through the wet tangles with conditioner in the shower which was causing a lot of breakage, then putting it up in a bun which would stay damp all day long. My hair was so weak, I now have 'curtain bangs' from where it all kept breaking at the part where it was pulled back into the bun. When I finally got my first silk press in years, last summer, I had to cut off like 4 inches of straggly ends, but since then, I've been maintaining silk presses and my hair is growing and retaining length - no more split ends. Also, I'm impressed by how much money I'm saving on products and water, since most of my daily showers are down to like 5-6 minutes now that I'm not washing and conditioning my hair every day! Thanks for another great video.
While I’m not fully a straight natural I switched to Joico keratin shampoo and conditioner and a bond builder based of your recommendation. It is a life changer! My hair is much softer, smoother, and hydrated longer. It takes me literally 20 mins to blowout my hair now instead of almost an hour. ❤
Your hair looks so beautiful and thick (or dense?) now! I’ve been heat training since March , loving it, and already retaining length. My stylist recently used the Color WOW Dream Coat when I had my last silk press last month and I get zero frizziness.
Keratin treatment has been key for me too. Also coloring my hair with henna every 6 weeks, which strengthens it between keratin treatments, unlike dyes that dry it out. Products you've recommended have also been key, like KeraCare shampoo, Silicon Mix and LPP conditioner.
which KT do you use? & OH this is such a shout, i was thinking to dye my hair jet black because i have some greys (nothing wrong with greys tho they are a sign of wisdom haha) but if Henna does the same im going to definitely try that! what brand do you use? and glad you like those products are holy grail for me!xxxx
@@naturalnadinee I use Answr for Keratin (formerly called Wow I think). For Henna I use Henna Sooq brand. If you only have a small amount of grey I'm not sure it's worth it though. It takes a long time to do. First is the henna for about 2 hours with a heat cap (after mixing it an letting it stand for about 2 hours before that), then rinse, then Indigo for another 2 hrs with heat cap. (Double times without heat cap.) From the time I get up and mix it then am finished washing it all out and styling my hair it's basically breakfast through dinner! I have about 25% grey though, so for me it's worth it every 6 weeks. For less, I was just using a simple coloring powder dusted on my edges each morning. Bought Madison Reed years ago and still using the first one, though I hear they're now giving a lot less product in the container.
Thanks for updating us on your use of ACV/Clove oil/Rice water. I like the idea of lower pH products and I have La’dore LPP items in my Amazon cart now. I’m also planning to buy and test the ANSWR keratin treatment (a British product) very soon. Again, thanks for the good hair advice and for sharing your hair journey on YT. 👍🏽😊🌷
12:05 i’m glad you mentioned the swimming cap tips because I want to add swimming to my regimen and I’m so afraid to do so. I don’t want my hair to get wet!😂 Yes, to the soft life. I’m happy to hear young women sharing this. I am married and self-care is my priority!
Can you do a vid to show us how you touch up your roots. Not sure if you mentioned it in this vid or the last one. I currently wash and press my hair every week as im scared to do touch ups.

How do you manage going 3 weeks between shampoos with working out? I could never go past a week because my scalp would literally be on fire. Now that I'm working out consistently I had to up my washes to twice a week because at the end of a week my scalp hurts. I alternate between a blow dry/flat iron and doing roller sets because I do want to keep my curls but I've been wearing my hair mostly straight for 2.5 years and can still go from curly to straight with no issues. I will never go back to exclusively curly styles because of the hidden damage (ssk's, breakage, etc.).
Twice a week is wow! Your scalp hurts from ? Flaking? Or something else! && tbh dry shampoo is my best friend in between workouts but I don’t think that would help with scalp hurting & glad you’re able to maintain both! Yah the hidden damage of curly styles really got me! :( xx
@@naturalnadinee I suppose it's because my scalp is naturally oily. I don't put any oils on my scalp at all, since they also make my scalp hurt lol. I did watch a video from a cosmetologist who said yeast and bacteria feed on oils on the scalp and I just figured that's why going too long without washing caused the same pain as adding oils. I've always had to wash a lot. I've never had the ability to go over a week 😭
@@MzToya84 ohh damn well in that case I always say your scalp will tell you when it’s time to wash, 3 weeks is my limit before I get itchy and that’s why I stretch 3 weeks if naturally oily then I think you’re doing right by your hair by washing more often!xx
I was suprised about the heat thing, personally the stuff I learned from your videos of how I learned how to prevent heat damage, I can get my 3b hair pretty straight using heat under 350F so the heat damage is pretty minimal as long as I regulate the temperature I use on my hair. There have been girls that have destroyed their curls in 1 go using 450F heat without heat protectant, so I honestly believe the temperature is more important than how frequent heat is used. Hair isn’t severely permenantly damaged until a certain temperature
Awesome video as always❤, I have a Japanese straight perm but your advice is perfect for me. Btw, I always find it interesting the way you say pH, I'm American so I don't hear many say it that way. I know it's due to the accent but it's so interesting!
Oo I'd love to know these Dominican channels that you follow. How long have you been using keratin treatments? I did a texture release at the salon, but it caused some hair loss (I think because she touched my scalp).
Im surprised a professional hairstylist touched your scalp with it cause thats such a big no no! :( and I will go on my instagram and put a few @'s in later on xxx
I use the AVLON texture release one (it’s not technically a keratin treatment it uses amino acids which means it’s not as strong as a normal KT and doesn’t last as long but I love it!) also I did it at home (which is also not recommended) 😩😂
Sup hunny. I love your content, I feel confident to begin my Keratin/Heat Training journey. Phase 1. of my hair involves growing healthy long hair and regular trims. My question to you is, how do maintain straight hair whilst going to the gym ? Would you consider using yaki hair clip ins ? Why do you wash your hair every three weeks ?
nope, they don't. Some do but I would never use one that contains that or any formaldehyde derivative! you can even make your own at home Keratin treatment if you're worried about harmful chemicals there are a few cosmetologists who have made videos on how to at youtube xx
I’ve been washing my hair every 3 weeks, in the winter it was easy. Now in the summer it has been getting difficult since I’m sweating more and my scalp feels like it needs to be washed. Any tips that help to prolong the silk press in the summer time?
So the one I use enables you to keep your natural texture I know curly naturals with keratin treatments but I would never recommend someone who wants to keep their texture to do a KT because depending on how its done you can lose your texture completely xx
Cyn Doll has been educating me!! Same stuff. Keep it simple.

Honestly it could of been the fact it was in a bun and wet bad combination… ponytails can cause breakage
100% I love being a straight natural and my hair is thriving so much more 🤍🤍🤍
@candi1904 defo different strokes for different folks. Can I ask if you get much single strand knots?
