Back in the day having music go from ear to ear and flipping back and forth was big. Led Zeppelin is the most diverse and innovative band ever. They were the first with everything. Jimmy Page was using a violin bow across the strings of his electric guitar for that part you are talking about, and yeah it's really cool how they pan it from one side to the other like something speeding by. Amidst all the other chaos and oh my God I love John Bonham's drumming so much. But then again jpj is masterful bass player and creates wonderful Ambiance on the keys. They were all so talented.❤
It's good to see young people listen to led zep. Put led Zeppelin on, lie down on your bed close your eyes and let their music take you on a journey. You'll never find a band with the same groove led zeppelin had.
Let it sink in for moment that this track was recorded in 1969. I remember hearing this song at the age of seven years old. I was truly blown away and a baby Led Zeppelin addict anew. Jimmy Page was a legendary producer and guitar player, and John Bonham was, and is still seen as, the greatest rock drummer in the craft.
🇨🇦 1969 was an amazing year for music ! One of the Best experiences that year was Woodstock the festival ! I'll give you three great examples ! "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane, "With a little help from my friends" by Joe Cocker and "Soul Sacrifice" by Santana, all live performances, on video, from the Woodstock concert ! 🇨🇦
Robert Plant. A blond god is still walking amongst us. xxx. Thanks for your reaction; bless you. Welcome to the 60/70s when rock and roll was, well, rockin.
That middle section is for the benefit of those doing hallucinogens. This was released in 1969, so that was a huge audience. Jimmy Page was famous for using a bow to play his guitar, or dragging the pick along one of the wound strings to get various sound effects.
I am so jealous. Very jealous. I live in flyover country an hour and so from Chicago. Try getting tickets to Chicago or Milwaukee in little city Rockford, Ha. But, I am so thankful to You Tube for existing. I get to see these guys when I could not in the 70s. And I watch over and over
Great reaction, Rere! Lots of people say that Led Zeppelin is the greatest Rock band ever. I can't argue that they're wrong! If you go deeper into their catalog you'll find that every song sounds different, but as soon as you hear it, you'll know it's Zeppelin.
Not only is this rock (by category) ...this IS rock (as in, this song encapsulates the pure essence of rock.) Led Zep was, and always will be, the pinnacle of hard rock. I was lucky enought to see them in concert back in the 1970's, as well as a couple of later Page/Plant tours, and all of them pure fire. If this is your first taste of Zeppelin, you have much to discover young one. Singer Robert Plant, bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones, drummer John Bonham and guitar wizard Jimmy Page. When gods walked the earth...
So far you've done a video and a studio recording of Led Zeppelin songs. What's missing is a live performance, and they are amazing live. I would recommend Kashmir Live at Knebworth 1979 official video and Stairway To Heaven Live at MSG 1973. It is different that the studio recording and worth hearing.
That Odd Instrumental in the Middle was to help Jimmy Show how he Could play his Guitar with a Cello Bow. This Particular Lp came out in 1968! Great Reaction.
The Cello Bow was used on Dazed and Confused. The middle section on this song was Jimmy Page using the Theremin. The album was recorded while touring America in 1969.
I saw them playing at their first ever gig outside London at the Bath Blues Festival in 1969. They weren't the main act, and not many people had heard of them (including me), but they brough tthe whole audience to its feet. They were just astonishing. The rest is history.
I've heard that. When they first came around they were not top billing but, by the time the concerts or fests were done they were the ones everyone was talking about. Look up about them playing the Boston Tea Party in 1969 on their first American tour. It was wild.
Led Zeppelin is Rock, but it's more than just amazing music, it's a mood, it's a point of view. These guys are seriously crazy musicians. Perhaps the greatest Rock band ever. These guys set the standard for some of the greatest rock music of the 60's and 70's They are gods. LOL.
At the time, the undisputed greatest hard rock band on earth. Robert Plant on vocals, Jimmy Page Lead Guitar, John Paul Jones on bass guitar and tha late great John Bonham on drums. I was fortunate enough to see them play live on a number of occasions back then (and once, I sat only eight rows from the front, and was deaf for a week afterwards)! Great memories. 🙋♂
That legendary guitar riff was essentially the Top of the Pops theme for much of the 70s, but from a cover version of this track. If you dig out some old TOTP clips from about '72 onwards, you may well hear it. As for Led Zep, aside from Stairway to Heaven, you may want to listen to Kashmir.
Most definitely rock, Ms. Rere. I love how curious and open-minded you are as you sample all this great music from yesteryear. Keep up the good work! 😊❤️
Rere, you are doing a great job on the channel. You are starting to taste the older decades where the real music came from. Anything 60's to the 80's , and any genre you will love. Enjoy

Everything this band plays is magnificent. They play Rock Blues Funk Folk Reggae & other genres, they however are NOT a heavy metal band, hard rock at times but not heavy metal. A great live performance to checkout is, live at Madison Square Gardens (1973), Since I’ve Been Loving You. A beautiful Blues Rock song. You could pick anything really, & it’s amazing, this band is 4 geniuses together in the greatest band EVER. Thank you for your reaction, hope you checkout much more Led Zeppelin.
Yeah, it’s rock. From 1969! The slower psychedelic section is an acoustic representation of an orgasm, hence the rapid breathing. I received the album in December as a Christmas present, just a couple of months before I turned 16. It was great growing up with this music!😁😁😁
A really cool element of Zeps’ repertoire is the medevil touches in a lot of their stuff. Stairway to Heaven, Immigrant Song and even Kashmir use this. Immigrant Song is actually about the Vikings pretty much conquering England !
My very first car, I paid $1295 for the car and installed a $900 stereo. And this was late 70's, so it was something special (the stereo, the car not so much). The part you're talking about used to go from one front speaker to the other and then to the back and across and around again. So it circled around the car in a anti-clockwise direction. It was wild.
This is progressive rock - you can tell partly by the changes in the song - Led Zep, Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Rush, Jethro Tull are all prog rock bands
Back then, the start of the 1979s, stereo was slowly starting to be used. Then, everything was mono - records, radio TV there was no stereo - for the first time with headphones you could here the location of each instrument in your head. See how new technologies were used and investigated was the sound engineers and the band members. In 1975, I actually built my own stereo amplifier because then, to buy a commercial amp was way beyond my pocket.
This song is actually 1969 but in general Led Zeppelin was mostly a 1970s band but their first two albums were in the late 60s. Led Zeppelin is rock, but they are diverse and sometimes their music is hard rock and sometimes blues rock and sometimes folk rock. Funk and even Reggae are not out of the question for them.
No better rock band than Led Zeppelin, this is one of their most powerful and most popular songs. It shot up the charts immediately on release, this song changed the way many listened to and played music. Simply the best, with a catalog full of bangers and every song is different. Next, do the live video of Since I've Been Loving you from their live concert movie, the Song Remains the Same. It will blow your mind! This rabbit hole goes to the center of the universe, enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥 P.S. To get your rock journey going at the highest level, these bands deserve your time to augment your musical education: The Beatles (best band ever, everything starts with them) The Rolling Stones (the headed the British invasion along with the Beatles) Jimi Hendrix (best and most influential guitar player ever, all the greats point to him as #1). Led Zeppelin (best band for many, apex of hard rock). Pink Floyd (best prog/psychedelic/space band ever, best album ever by anyone in Dark Side of the Moon). The WHO (Also great hard rock and amazing concept albums). Black Sabbath (1st and still best Heavy Metal Band ever, where Ozzy Osbourne came from, Tony Iommi is the God of riffs). Deep Purple (Great lead vocals, guitar and organ, ikonic albums). Queen (Unique Rock style with Freddy Mercury on amazing vocals and Brian May on unique, self made, killer guitar). Rush (Canadian 3 piece that sounds huge, a mix of prog and hard rock, great songwriting and unique vocals). There are many more but for me, the above are the cream of the crop. You as a musician will by awed by all their greatness, the bands of that era just were more talented, many modern reactors are shocked by how goid this stuff was and wonder e pop what the hell happened to music in this century. Enjoy!!!
The “car” sound is produced by dragging a guitar pick down the strings. Then the recording engineer moves from one side to the other using the recoding console.
Buy you a coffee ??? I'd rather buy you dinner 🤣😂🤣🤗👍. Seriously, I'm really liking your reactions. You have an awesome smile and the way you get into the music (swaying, head bobbing) is so cool 😎.
50 years ago, no Autotune, no computer tracking.... real instruments with a human beings vocal not bad for a bunch of guys in their early 20s..... is it fair to say..... follow that Gen Z? 😂😂😂
Written by Willie Dixon and released in 1962 by Muddy Waters. Covered by The small faces in 1963/4 ( This is where Led Zeppelin got the sound from) Also covered by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac in 1967/68 Covered by Savoy Brown too. Then Finally Led Zeppelin got hold of it in 69 and passed it off as their own creation. I urge anybody to listen to all versions, particularly The Small faces, its uncanny
Bedazzled are we!!?? 😮 You should really check out (hope your peaps agree) DAZED AND CONFUSED from the Madison Square Gardens 1973 performance. That concert is also on the movie THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME put out in 1976 in theaters where I watched it!! Actually for Music Historical reasons you should watch the movie!! Great Job Rere! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
"You Need Love" is a song with lyrics written by American blues musician Willie Dixon. The instrumentation was recorded first by slide guitarist Earl Hooker and backing musicians, then Chicago blues artist Muddy Waters overdubbed vocals, and Chess Records released it as a single in 1962. Jimmy Page took this and basically had the band to amp up the sound with psychedelia additions and studio tape effects for the trippy mid section...
I think this was done in 1972. And the sound I think you are talking about was Jimmy Page using a bow on his guitar. They are all true musicians. They have a lot of songs with different genres to choose from. I hope you continue your journey with them. Great reaction. Enjoy Jimmy Page- guitar John Paul Jones- bass guitar, keyboards John Bonham- drums Robert Plant- vocals
Jimmy Page, the guitarist, took the side of the pick and slides it over the lower strings from the upper to the lower register to get the sound you mentioned. Certainly rock! 69.
Watched about 40 reactions of women to this track - and all but one, a Venezuelan on her phone, was transported, for want of a better word, tribal Indian women, mother’s and daughter’s, wives with husbands, 18-80. Lads, like me talk about the four, the band, the instruments, but it’s not the same 😎 If you could bottle it. Great reaction ❤️👍🏽👍☘️
Check out led zeplin, kashmir live at celebration day , they're much older but still awesome , Jason bonham on drums the son of the original drummer Jon bonham who passed away in the early 80s I think
The passing sound was from Jimmy running the pick up the string you can see it in the video and you can also see during the slower part of the song Jimmy using the violin bow to make some strange sounds on the guitar.
Um, I'm pretty sure it's a guitar slide. Overdubbed distorted guitar with Jimmy's slide running down the strings at the right moments. What they show in the video is Jimmy doing something else, just like most of the clips in this video were meant to look like it kinda matches up. Now it's possible to produce a slide sound by dragging the pick, but it's a very rough sound - you end up hearing the grooves on the string wraps. A slide is smoother and I think the distortion we're hearing is a distortion pedal or fuzz pedal. Sorry to be such a guitar geek.
@@LarryLewis-nz1oy It's a real clip of him sliding the pick down the neck, but it's not the right clip for this song. It's another song playing something different. They put together a bunch of short clips of different songs, and made it look sort of like they were playing this song. This video technique is used a lot these days. You can easily tell if you pay close attention. But the sound is Page using a guitar slide (a metal or glass bar), sliding down the strings. They didn't have that on video, so the picked something that sort of fits.
Rere, I think you understand the words to this tuneful melody. I’m not sure you wanted to admit that you understood the lyrics! Maybe another listen would help? Jeff
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video and grew up on this song and band 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on UA-cam. 😀
Definitely the 70's. And, likely during the time when bands and fans were most likely high on something be it weed, LSD or mushrooms? So, yeah, the psychedelic experience on this one for sure. Then, I went to the theater to watch 2001 A Space Odyssey. 😎 ~ California.

P.S. To get your rock journey going at the highest level, these bands deserve your time to augment your musical education:
The Beatles (best band ever, everything starts with them)
The Rolling Stones (the headed the British invasion along with the Beatles)
Jimi Hendrix (best and most influential guitar player ever, all the greats point to him as #1).
Enjoy!!!
You forgot Cream..Blind Faith and Traffic..
The “car” sound is produced by dragging a guitar pick down the strings. Then the recording engineer moves from one side to the other using the recoding console.
Please listen to the full version of this song as this is the shortened cut. You’ll enjoy it for sure.
Buy you a coffee ??? I'd rather buy you dinner 🤣😂🤣🤗👍. Seriously, I'm really liking your reactions. You have an awesome smile and the way you get into the music (swaying, head bobbing) is so cool 😎.
Love your reaction to this
that intrumental part in the middle was the 'shroom break. which in this edit is shortened, look for the video that is uncut.
50 years ago, no Autotune, no computer tracking....
real instruments with a human beings vocal
not bad for a bunch of guys in their early 20s.....
is it fair to say..... follow that Gen Z? 😂😂😂
Written by Willie Dixon and released in 1962 by Muddy Waters.
Covered by The small faces in 1963/4 ( This is where Led Zeppelin got the sound from)
Also covered by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac in 1967/68
Covered by Savoy Brown too.
Then Finally Led Zeppelin got hold of it in 69 and passed it off as their own creation.
I urge anybody to listen to all versions, particularly The Small faces, its uncanny
Backdoor man refers to the lover who leaves by the Backdoor as your spouse comes in front door
Robert didn't see that one coming.......Peace!
Double meaning.
It's called MOR - Middle Of the Road, easy listening.
Looking forward to this reaction ❤️
Yes, ROCK!
when you slide the guitar pick sideways over the strings gives you that car effect.
If the strings are steel-wound.
Also, the guitar was being bowed in this song, as with a cello bow.
This is ROCK.
The GOAT!
I'm American and my favorite band is British.
Please do OVER THE HILLS FAR AWAY by Led Zepplin
Gutz personified and those drums
zepp and floyd the best bands ever both are different but highly skilled
I think this was done in 1972. And the sound I think you are talking about was Jimmy Page using a bow on his guitar. They are all true musicians. They have a lot of songs with different genres to choose from. I hope you continue your journey with them. Great reaction. Enjoy
Jimmy Page- guitar
John Paul Jones- bass guitar, keyboards
John Bonham- drums
Robert Plant- vocals
Jimmy Page, the guitarist, took the side of the pick and slides it over the lower strings from the upper to the lower register to get the sound you mentioned. Certainly rock! 69.
100% ROCK
Watched about 40 reactions of women to this track - and all but one, a Venezuelan on her phone, was transported, for want of a better word, tribal Indian women, mother’s and daughter’s, wives with husbands, 18-80.
Lads, like me talk about the four, the band, the instruments, but it’s not the same 😎
If you could bottle it.
Great reaction ❤️👍🏽👍☘️
This is rock....although at that time no one cared about genre. There was no electronic catalogue of songs on iTunes to sort....it was a vinyl record.
That is how it's done!
@@glass2467 Obviously I am not a guitar player so you are saying the video of him running up the string is fake?
@@LarryLewis-nz1oy It's a real clip of him sliding the pick down the neck, but it's not the right clip for this song. It's another song playing something different. They put together a bunch of short clips of different songs, and made it look sort of like they were playing this song. This video technique is used a lot these days. You can easily tell if you pay close attention. But the sound is Page using a guitar slide (a metal or glass bar), sliding down the strings. They didn't have that on video, so the picked something that sort of fits.
Jimmy did not use the bow on Whole Lotta Love.
Play they suggested song right there. The Ocean. Live 1973 Madison Square Garden!!
That sound that was panning from side to side was a violin bow being used on Jimmy Paige's guitar 🎸
No, it isn't. Jimmy didn't use the bow on Whole Lotta Love.
@@tektoniks_architects And when he did use a bow it was a cello bow, not a violin bow.
You might try TOTO, Africa. Kansas, Every Step the Way. Moody Blues, Ride My Seesaw. There's so many great classic Rock music 🎶
You should listen to Kashmir, another Led Zeppelin song
The sound you got was stereo music moving left to right though your head used a lot back then.
I call it Rock !!! Check Dazed and Confused live at MSG To see how that psychedelic is made !
ZZtop Blue jean Blues
Definitely the 70's. And, likely during the time when bands and fans were most likely high on something be it weed, LSD or mushrooms? So, yeah, the psychedelic experience on this one for sure. Then, I went to the theater to watch 2001 A Space Odyssey. 😎 ~ California.
This song was released in '69.
