  • E92 335i N54 REAL Flex Fuel With the JB4 & Port Injection: Part 2
    I've wanted to get real Flex Fuel working for ever, but the pursuit of power got the better of me. However i am going to try and get it all working. This is my first attempt using the ethanol analyser that is currently in the car. Let me know if you have any idea on what might be causing my issues.

    Hey so how about a video on how the custom tune works VS off the shelf. Maybe what you look for in a tune, cost, updates and so on? Just a thought. Great vid

      So it can not be identified in a single frame where the vehicle is being driven. The videos are heavily edited officer, not actually filmed on the road, or even driven by the actors in the films........

    the graphs are interesting for when your boost comes on, mines heavily into boost by 1500rpm on 17ts

      Keep in kind I’m rolling the throttle on at 2500rpm ish. So it won’t even try to make boost before then.

      I've noticed this behavior as well. I have all Bosch sensors and am running US "premium" fuel (93 AKI (97-98 RON) which has 10% ethanol content).

    Shouldn't the AFR fluctuate little bit as you're driving on closed loop/lambda target = 1? That's how the fuel is kept under control.
    Dunno what kind of logging speed JB4 has for O2 readings, if it's rather fast like 50-100hz then you will definitely see the O2 reading fluctuating.

      It should definitely, yes. But i was seeing a large change at constant low load. It could be normal. This is all caused by me using cheap china sensors and just being worried about hurting the engine. I could be worried over nothing.

    My afr does the same everytime I run e60 btw rear 02 fix my cylinder 6 misfire! And btw u should of gotten active autowerks blow off u would of loved it I have it

    I'm confused.... Did I miss an episode where you installed the fuel it analyser and the motive flex fuel module???

      The cars had a fuel-it analyser since last year. I’m using the fuel-it instead of motiv. I tried to explain all that in part 1, but may have glossed over it. Did you see part 1?

    Great to see Flex Fuel setup working properly. Does this mean you don't have to calculate E content, or touch the map, the DME will automatically adjust everything based on pump fuel octane and Ethanol content?

      The DME will adjust timing and fuel. Because i am JB4, i will have to make sure i am in map that is running sub 20psi, if i am pump fuel. For now anyway. I might do some testing on higher boost on pump fuel as we progress. But i know if wanna go fast, i need some e85 in the tank. Full pump fuel will just be for long trips or when i am just plodding around in the car.

    There must be something wrong with your lpfp. I get min. 70 max. 90 psi on a single Walbro 450 setup with the venturi. Or it's related to the ethanol, maybe the hpfp sucks in more fuel which leads to the low numbers, idk.

      DERxTECHNIKER reset your fuel adaptions as 90psi is to high, should be running around 75psi max, the lpfp is controlled via the dme which sends different voltage/current to keep it at 70-75psi, mine done the same as yours till I reset it

      Yeah, i am running a xHP v3 Stage 3. With the JSR tune, it works pretty dame well.

      I was going to wait till the diff is in, but its hooking up so much better with shocks sorted. Might incorporate the 0-100 test in the diff video to see a before and after.

    Great content again!
    I'm running the Motiv flex fuel kit myself and I wonder if you have the same scaling problem as soon as you mix 85%. My sensor showed max 70% (fuel and timing interpolation of ~90%) and when I took a sample from the tank and tested it, it showed 85% of ethanol.
    A good friend of my experiences the same problem as soon as the ethanol content rises above 70%

      @@ZeroTo60Tube in the beginning we did yes, but now with hybrids I went custom (Ken Atkinson).

      @@Jern54 In that case it may be something to check with Ken, i have now learnt who ever writes the maps, does the ethanol scaling. So Ken may have written something for safeties sake. or there could be an anomaly occuring.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube yeah I am busy making some changes to the scaling with Ken. ATM I have to take fuel samples from the tank, test them and add a log for comparison and adjustment. Takes a lot of time unfortunately.

      No, never had any fault codes. I changed the rears to aftermarket a few months ago. It made the car drive better, but ever since i put the cheap ones in, its been playing on my mind. That they are not right. They were a different style of sensor to the Bosch. So i am just gonna get the 4 new genuine Bosch ones fitted i think.

      I think its around 10-11 litres per 100klms. But i honestly trying not to look at my fuel consumption too much. Its drinks the fuel when doing power runs.
