I am loving the n54 content! Keep up the great work. I love the cheap stuff you guys are trying out and doing some proper real world testing. I am on my 2nd N54 and just started the modding journey on this one. I am leaning towards trying out the stuff you guys are doing on this build. Greetings from South Africa!
I would never tell that this was your first install... Quality. Cant wait for china choo choos
It was super interesting to see when the PI kicked in.
At first it seemed like it was kinda fighting the regular fuel pump for supremacy.
But than later it was a lot more smooth. I'm very curious as to how the PI should behave. The graphs were awesome and very well explained. It's like you're making professional instruction videos. I really have no questions.
Looking forward to the next one of perhaps the most interesting channel for me personally.
Editing, filming, music all of it is excellently put together.
Thanks again!!!! Looking forward to get this pump sorted and wind it up on the BMS flash. I think its gonna be a quite a bit better than it was.
Love the N54 Project, hope u make many more videos. Cheap n54 stuff.
Greedings from germany
Thanks. What car do you drive?
Zero To 60 also a N54 335i, From UK also RHD😅 Spacegrey Coupe E92 2007 with Styling 313 and On KW V3😅💪
You have my dream wheels!!! And on decent coil overs.... Damn son! Have you had yours for long?
Another great video! Will be looking for an update!
Coming soon!
@zeroto60 hey I just want to say great work guys! I’m building my 135i N54 with cheap eBay turbos along side yours, I’m 1-2weeks behind everything you guys do! Keep it going👌🔥
Hell yes!!! What route are you going for additional fuel?
Zero To 60 I copied your China walboro setup but I fabricated my own bucket less hanger! I am now trying to figure out what port injection kit to buy I was thinking of running it with JB4!
Ok, so we need to see what this hanger looks like pleasssseeee!!!
Zero To 60 I’ll have to pull it out and snap some pics for you guys! I’m from Toronto Canada, little behind on the timezone should have some for you sometime next week when I get back to the car!
Can I tap in for port injection fueling at a top of the flex line the one that connect to HPFP hard line? Next to steering fluid tank?
Great video mate, love the hands on DIY approach, 👍
I'd probably blow something up of I tried though, 😅
I’m not sure I won’t blow this up yet......🙃 appreciate all your kind comments along the way.
Don't suppose you have a video showing how to wire in the jb4 port injection controller? I have tried looking but can't find any videos on how to do it. I know it's relatively simple I just don't like messing with wiring 😅
Great explanation well done. Still waiting for the O2 sensors, cars been running OK since I reset the codes 😷😠
Ohhh man. How good are delivery times currently..... this covid mess is, just that a mess.
Great video what will you replace the second fuel pump with?
Ordered a genuine one. It is 6 times the price but the cheap stuff just takes too long to arrive at the moment. I will get the cheap one replaced under warranty, when the replacement arrived I’ll do some testing with it and make sure it’s useable. It won’t get wasted.
As always love your work!! I'm about to install dual pumps and a split second pi kit and I wanted to know if you need to use the relay? My pumps came with the hobs switch but I'm running jb4 so I won't be using it.
You will still need the relay. The bms Pi controller triggers the relay.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thank you once again!!
Awesome build guys but please take the jb4 and throw it in the garbage where it belongs lol. Mhd flash only with an aic6 port injection controller will work alot smoother. When are the turbos going in?
I’m having a little trouble with my PI setup. I have a BMS PI controller as well along with Jb4 on my Single 6466 DOC setup. Everything is hooked up but when I logged i did see fuel enrichment go up in the gauges. However in the jb4 logs meth stays at 0. So I had the old BMS cable hooked up and the yellow wire was still plugged into that instead of my Jb4 bluetooth. So while trying to remove It, i broke the wire so i found a wire from my old BMS cable and sottered it to the yellow one. Can this be the problem? I went ahead and bought a”Delpha GT 150 Male terminal” and plan on stripping the yellow wire and doing it the correct way.
I think you are on the money. However jump on to N54tech.com these guys will know the fastest way to diagnose and get it sorted. Instead of me just having a guess at possible issue. Meth scaling setting is something i know catches a few people out. But you really wanna make sure all your wiring is spot on.
Great channel!! Why did you set the FOL to zero?
That came from N54 tech. I assumed it was to stop the JB4 adding fuel to the stock system, or possibly because my stock turbos won’t use as much fuel as the hybrid turbo flash that’s on the car. Dave from BMS/Fuel was aware I was doing it. But let me know your thoughts.
Hi guys. Have you installed the 17t turbos already? Thanks
Hi There, If you watch the turbo series from the start, i do say we need to get all the supporting mods working first. There's no point bolting the hybrids on if the rest of the car isn't ready for the power. That said the fuel system (port injection) is the last piece of the puzzle.
are you running a hobbs switch to activate secodary fuel pump or is jb4 pi controller ?
This car is jb4 pi controlling secondary pump.
Just looking at your logs, the lpfp looks good. It dropping down below 60psi for one sample cycle is totally normal. It's only a problem if it stays down there
I guess there's a lesson to be said about watching the whole video till the end before Posting a comment...
hahaha ohhh we have all been guilty of that dont worry.
Currently looking into a BMP port injection kit with a Split Second AIC6 controller, any idea how that setup compares to the JB4 route?
Guillermo Lopez I’m pretty sure Adam Lz from youtube has that setup on his motiv 700 335i!
The JB4 is easier to self tune and has a few more safeties built in to it, you can argue those safeties are only needed because of the JB4. The JB4 port injection controller is doing more in its fuel calculations, but again it’s not really needed.
I think the best advice is speak to who ever you plan to use for the final tune and run with what that tuner recommends.
When you talk about turning on the port injection, how is it that you turn on or off the port injection? With jb4? I'm ordering the parts to run PI & I also have jb4. & can you run the second lpfp off a hobb switch when running jb4 or is running it off the jb4 that much better? I've watched all these 335i videos about 10 times each because I'm doing the exact same setup, same turbos and everything.
Hey There, When i say turn it on, i really mean connect the JB4 port injection controller. I had all the hardware installed for a week or so before turning the controller on. Regarding the hob switch. Basically that will just turn the fuel pump on when boost hits x psi. With the JB4 pi controller controlling the fuel pump it is supposed to have a bit more behind when it turns the pump on. As the JB4 is monitoring LPFP it may use that as one of the indicators as to when to turn the second pump on. I have had it running for a couple of weeks now and it appears to turn the pump on if LPFP reaches 60psi. My logs will often see a LPFP dip to 60 then bam back up to 70+psi. From the time i have had the JB4 port injection running, i think the way you can adjust it through the JB4 app is amazing and it really is quite clever with how it determines what fuel is needed. Let us know if you have any other questions.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thank you so much for the response! I'm liking the videos, you're doing a great job & I'm following this build. I will also be using the jb4 PI controller. Like I said, exact same setup. These videos have been helpful. I was really just curious about you "turning on" the PI because I had hoped there was a way to turn off the PI. Mainly because my concern now with this setup is running e85 all the time, I may go on a trip or something & need to run pump gas. I'm sure there are ways to do this & my research is never ending. Thanks again.
I’m hoping to have a full flex setup running through the JB4 in the end. And I guess, the flex map will be able to wind the direct injection back. So even if I’m full pump and the pi is firing, it should all work out fine. In theory.... hehe
Curious how much power are you making that you need port injection? Are you planning ahead or do you actually need it? Necessary for full e85? PS Really love the series I have a 2009 e90 running MHD, Hopefully stage 2+ very soon
Original plan with port injection was to go full e85 and max out the stock turbos. People have gone full e85 with out port injection but you can max the turbos. Then everything was taking so long I bought the 17ts in the mean time. Power goals are 600whp (dynojet/US hp)
@@ZeroTo60Tube Cool man, thanks for the explanation. I'll take that into account.
Sorry for a little off-top, are the taillights the OEM LCI ones or aftermarket?
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. They are aftermarket. This timecode should take you to exactly when we fitted them. They looks like genuine once fitted, but as they are made for the Pre LCI models, you don't need to code them. ua-cam.com/video/RFpSOcL8SMM/v-deo.html One of the best appearance upgrades i have done.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thanks a lot, what is brand of them? I thought about LCI conversion but I dont think buying 10 years old used LCI taillights is good solution since aftermarket ones cost almost the same as non-OEM brand new lights here
They are depo, this is a link to the exact ones i ordered. ebay.to/34KQc3L
Awesome stuff copy on the cheap walbro first time u have some anything like this 😬🤣 is this the same setup as the one at tunnell running back in the day, the one that decimated the volvo haha 🤘
Ahhhh no, that silver one would be tame compared to this car. He wasn't even running e85.
Yer right far out that thing from Wat i can remember it flew he had a go with that 997 that night but that thing was quick holy 🤯
Well to put in to perspective, my black one is now over half a second faster 0-100 than Ryzies AWD GTR. With a very gentle start for me, due to wheel spin problems. These 335i's are effing quick and soooo cheap at the moment.
Awesome bloody he'll thats fast, I'm heading down to air and lift gear today if i get a spare 5 ill drop in 👍
What kind of relay you used brother?
Just a normal automotive 20/30amp one
That’s a lot of crazyness not everyone has ur setup with a box and all that. This is crazy to follow
If you have the time the full playlist for this car tells the story on all the mods. Just putting the hybrid turbos on as we speak. Shes getting a bit serious now.
Is there a reason why are u setting the open loop to 0? The n54 thread only says setting meth and fuel bias
It was suggested on a thread I was following on N54 tech. I ended up back at 60.
@@ZeroTo60Tube good to know since I have the same setup (bms port inj with stage 3 fuel it 525s) plus an helix overdrive x3. I never touched mine (which is at 70). I have a single docrace 6870 and did 710 whp 655 torque at the dyno, but pulls at the street isn't always consistent ...."last safety" ===> fuel trims maxing out, and fuel trims variances. And the different from u logs is that my fuel trim are maxing out
Why did you set fuel open loop to 0???
Read it on N54tech, confirmed with dave at fuel it before running as well.
How are your turbos
The stock turbos have wastegate rattle, aside from that they are actually fine. No oil leaks and no low boost codes.
Are your stock injectors index 12? I told the guy installing my upraged turbos about my future power plans and he seemed it important that I had index 12 injectors, I don't hear anyone else mentioning needing to upgrade them to index 12 before installing PI & upgraded lpfp.
Yes, mine are index 12. I think the main reason people stress about the 12s is they are the most reliable. If you car has anything older than a 12 it’s just much more probable to have an injector issue
THE greatest thing about adding fuel via port injection is CLEAN VALVES AND PORTS!!
That was one of the reasons i went this way instead of the overdriven HPFP. I am genuine surprised how smooth it is to drive.
BOKEN AF
i havent been drinking the e85 i swear.... but legit missed that one haha
Like the videos, but two ads every 4 minutes is a bit much.
It’s UA-cam default settings. I think they must have changed it recently, cos that’s worse than tv. If you watch a bit of UA-cam get the red subscription. No ads ever. It’s amazing.
I also have a 2008 335i, so I need to save ever penny I can or otherwise I would! Lol
Please stop buying crappy chinese fuel pumps. One day it will lean out and cost you a motor! Genuine E85 compatible Walbro 460 are around $170. Got mine from Longboost performance parts. Very cheap insurance.
Couldn't agree more. If you have been following the build on this car, it was all about seeing how fast you can go on the cheap. Not how reliable haha. Once the budget build is done, i will switch a few of components out for better quality options for sure.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Yes i have been watching from the start. I'm definately all for doing certain builds on the cheap but what i have found is going midrange rather than the best or chinese copies can work out ok and save you some $$. Certain parts you don't want to skimp on as the consequinces are more costly than the initial saving.
I can't believe how quick that pump failed. Even if it lasted 1 year i would be pissed. You should get a good life out of a simple fuel pump.
I am more surprised the first one has lasted so long... haha. Obviously a manufacturing fault, for it to die so quickly. Looking forward to feeling more comfortable with something a little more reliable in there. Which will happen in a few months.
