There are many things I like about this channel 'too many to mention', but I will mention a few... Your passion, enthusiasm and knowledge is without question. Your video content is engaging and straight to the point, no filler fluff or faff! No stupid annoying music or crazy dizzy camera angles, no gimmicks just clean great interesting and valuable content well delivered, in timely fashion. It's refreshing, so many you tube creators should do something else, you're not one of them, every success!! Ah yes a Jeep Cherokee from the 90's the square shaped thing with a short wheel base, very nice - Get one if you still can!
"the square shaped thing" you need to narrow it down a bit more. There was the red square shaped thing, the silver one then the black one. All designed on an etch a sketch and modeled out of lego.
Been watching you since you had about a 1000 subscribers and I have to say, I love how authentic it is. No over the top edits, just a man and his cars. Keep it up :)
The noise in the cabin might be your air con compressor. Try driving it as normal then when you hear the noise switch off the air con. If the noise disappears then there is a dry bearing on the pulley on the front of the compressor.
You need to change the rubber in the top part of the bonnet on the X5! That’s why you had the problem. There is a recall for this rubber sealing, as it leaks water down on the injector, so it will fail again quite soon, as the sealing has gotten worn out! 😊 hope you see this
Hi Matt, the wheel bearing type noise could be your part worn you had fitted, try swapping the the wheels around and see if the noise moves or disappears, have had this happen to myself in the past. Keep up the good work Matt. Regards Pete.
Honestly Matt.... All of us are very shocked there weren't significantly more Land Rovers in your collection. 😊 *Temptation ~* Lada Niva 4x4 Soviet made off-roader.
NIvas perform surprisingly well off-raod but still fail at the laast - NO DIFF LOCKS. Same problem as all Land Rovers, spin one wheelon either axle and you're STUCK.
Just what I would do with some disposable income and somewhere to keep them. Forget million pound Ferraris, I would like to go back and collect all the cars I've had or maybe their sportier versions and lots of 4x4s. Maybe a farm I could play with them and create my own private green lanes. Suggest a Nissan Terrano, had 3! Plus an Icelandic style monster truck.....
I had the exact same issue with my land rover discovery with sticking gears. Had it diagnosed thinking I would need a new gearbox, turned out to be a dirty mass airflow sensor, once cleaned gear changes returned to normal. worth a shot.
Love your passion. Since you love 4x4s, can I request some off roading videos please. Would be very entertaining to see a convoy of cheap 4x4s doing a few challenges.
Hey, fellow E70 owner here. Injectors 5 and 6 often go bad because the scuttle panel is designed in a very bad way. It's a 3 piece design and the. Seals of the middle part break letting all the water through dripping down to the back of the engine. I would also get this addressed. Normally you can take off the. Panels and re apply more gasket tape but in my case I had to order new scuttle panels and applied thicker 4mm gasket tape.
It was one of your "Should you buy" videos where I first heard that the Discovery 3 was also available with a petrol 4.4 V8.... I now own one :-) Have hardly driven my 991.2 911 GTS since buying this truck, absolutely love it definitely a keeper.
Great video. Nice change. Had a Colorado (diesel) as a company car. Awesome car. Covered thousands of miles trailering my Caterham about. Started my love of 4x4/SUVs ending (currently) with my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEv via several Land Rovers. Favourite Land Rover was a Disco 3.
These things are likely to be killed off by government and emissions regulations but I reckon they make good sense. At some point there will be an amazing kit available to convert to electric if we really need to, there are already quite a few companies doing it and I think the French government even signed off on one company to convert little Renaults, Fiat 500s and things like that. Small simple conversions that won't emit from the tailpipe, possibly even charged from the panels on your roof - sounds like a good idea to me. James May and Jay Leno were chatting about it, keep the nice cars for occasional use, let the electric carry the main load of boring day to day stuff... Anyway, I'd love one of these SUVs as they are but not the current eye-watering tax bill... or the fuel bill for that matter!!! Thanks Matt and the team at High Peak, you guys are going from strength to strength.
We share a similar passion, there is something just so right about old/older 4x4’s. I drive a new one and still find myself looking at old Land Cruisers XJ Jeeps 😂
This is great!! Best video definitely. Same obsession with 4wds and waiting for precious metals to explode so I can buy: -Pajero Junior -Fiat Panda 4x4 Disco 2 on a vintage and galvanised chassis (Ireland tax @ €56pa) Disco 4 2016 HSE Lux L322 Runout Pajero LWB. Not greedy at all 😂😂 Ps really looking forward to: "Here's my French car collection" now.
I loved this video Matt. And I love your collection! I wish cars were that cheap in Australia and we had access to specialists like you do in the UK. I absolutely love my E70 30d, and that M57 should go on and on and on. (With some maintenance!)
Great stuff Matt. The reason the average Joe or Joanne dont want to buy a 15 year old plus gas guzzler like these 4 x 4s is the running cost if used as a runaround vehicle. The only Landcruiser i know still in use is owned by a retired garage owner who can fix problems himself. I would buy one myself as Im retired and do small mileage but I feel a car port or garage would be required to combat the rust threat.
Thinking of your Volkswagen with that mysterious sound...We have a MK 11 Honda CRV, which developed a vague rumble especially going around corners, we discovered that it was the rear axle Diff Oil that broken down and once drained and replaced the sound went away ... Might be if you drive around a car park and do lock on lock and if you get a rumbling sound, then this could confirm or eliminate the possible back Diff issue... Another issue might be an imbalance on the propshaft... But if you can live with the odd humming then just turn up the Sound System...Great Upload.
I love the RR, it is classy and timeless, adding the private plate really disguises the age, which I am a fan, both my cars have. The interior makes the vehicle appear far more roomier than a black interior, and more spacious too. We owned a Cayenne S (2005), I think the same colour as your Tourag, with tan leather (wooden steering wheel, not heated, cold in the winter and fecking hot in the summer) with a huge panoramic sunroof and multiple settings as it was a concertina style, giving so much light, the original owner paid almost 90k for the car, as may accessories were added, we bought it for 12 or 15 as the 3rd owner in 2014. I've been a fan of X5's since first production, I looked at X5 and ML's before choosing the Cayenne S (that's another story). It is crazy how inexpensive quality SUV/4X4's can be, but you know deep pockets are needed too.
A very interesting, and eclectic collection there Matt, I do like them though. My classic 4x4 of choice has to be the Lada Niva, I once had one back in the day, it wasn’t a Cossack version, but I liked its basic no nonsense original ruggedness . I dare not take it off road though for fear of scratching the paint work, which is the downside of having a new or newish off road vehicle . You’ve done it right, having older ones, with pre existing battle scars, makes them less garage queen, and more country lane crusader❤.
My 2004 l322 4.4 v8 has been spot on for 4 years now. Had engine and gearbox serviced when I bought it and been running fine ever since. Need to get a new air con condenser also.
Awesome content Matt! Thanks to you i have bought an L322... I was going to go for the 4.4 V8 but instead went for the M57 3.0 TD6 as them engines are solid reliable lumps. I love it! Wish i bought it sooner. I can't wait to see the landcruiser when it's finished you definitely need to take it on an adventure
You always answer my questions on these vids when I am typing them! But I didn't hear you mention the range rover that the transfermotion boys were working on....great selection. I do like that x5. Cheers
my favourite channel for sure ,you could make one good one from all these .The red tourag is the best the Squeeky noise is your sat on your wallet all the Notes are rubbing together .And you would like a BMW E38 ,I know .
I had that same problem on a 2004 Grand Cherokee. I could fix it by putting the car manually into 2nd on the gear selector and booting it and then going back to drive. There is a small chance it could fix it for you too.
My dad had a 90s Shogun when I was a kid, I'm not an SUV fan but I'll always like Shoguns just for the nostalgia. Would be cool to own one, even if only briefly, but I couldnt really justify that financially 😅
Been looking forward to this video Matt. Settling in to be entertained, love your collection 👌oh no, you’ve now got me thinking about growing my own personal collection 🤔
Mk1 Shoguns (aka Pajero - check pajero in a Spanish English dictionary!) had a four banger petrol engine, at least in Oman where I had one for a couple of years at the turn of the century.
This would've been better on a Spanish channel like Easy4x4, as in Spain people actually use them off road here., but I'm gobsmacked, 😮 you actually OWN all of them. 😮😮 I'm between Impressed and depressed. Is the channel going really well or have you won the lottery 🤔💛? However, they are all half the price of similar ones in Spain ... 🇪🇸 😢 but one bad issue related tobthe 4x4 system can leave you thousands out of pocket
Love the channel, and out of personal experience the noise you hear on the Touareg could be coming from the front diff. Replaced mine on the Cayenne...Cheers
Bravada….I’ll message you if I see a good one for sale locally (Texas, so it’ll be rust free). I don’t get the appeal, but I appreciate that you’re open about some of your unusual car obsessions as we all have our own.
I'd always assumed a fairly important part of running a car sales business was actually selling cars rather than collecting them. It seems like a business area I would be suited for 😁
Hey Matt, ensure you replace the front lower ball joints on that Land Cruiser Colorado. They are known to fail and may cause fatalities, if you're unlucky.
Greet video. You might need some counselling though, Matt. T might prove cheaper than the 4X4 addiction though lol. My favourite is the X5 which still looks cool.
Great video Matt, I get it. It's a good feeling buying cheap, keeping it running and even improving on what you started with. The land cruiser is well cool, worth so much in good condition because they run forever? I have a 90s Toyota Previa, it's so well engineered and hasn't let me down in 6 years.
I've got a cheap old 3.2 Touareg. Bought it in 2020, had a fair bit of stuff fixed under the dealer supplied 3rd party warranty, and now it does seem to work well. I wish I had bought a V8 as the 3.2 feels a bit underpowered, but in my local market you can get one for the same price (if not less) as much older Japanese 4x4s e.g. Isuzu Bighorn or Toyota Hilux Surf, which are admittedly less likely to go wrong but so much less refined. When this one finally dies I'll probably look to pick up a facelifted version e.g. 3.6 V6. It's great for skiing, accessing difficult terrain, moving stuff, and has even towed a couple of broken down cars.
I have the same 4.4 V8 in my 2003 BMW 745Li and after having the gearbox serviced by an ‘expert’, it too occasionally decides it likes 3rd gear on motorways. I’ve been told it’s the mechatronics unit - £2,500 to replace.
Great video as always Matt. One of the things that puts me off big SUVs is the high road tax especially on older ones. Any update on the Berlingo road trip?
Very early 90's Nissan Armada,,,agricultural straight off the farm or battlefield...for American hunt try Alabama just above Florida panhandle,,,they keep their 4x4s and they don't rot out...
Nice collection 😊 From experience (LR and Jimny), spares can be REALLY hard to get of, of the tailgate (rusting bolts) if it's the original, never used spare. Just in case you need it out in the wild, and forgot your blowtorch or anglegrinder.....
Cam belt on the V6 Colorado isn't a five minute job, make sure they change the tensioner which involves removing the air con compressor and cradle, ask me how I know!!

Has to be on a trade plate or trade deal of some description 😅
Trade insurance 👍
Still needs to be taxed doesn't it?
@@johnedwards3198tax man doesn't do trade deals

That plate will be worth at least 40 times the car !
How many times have you been asked if you are a Vet😂😂😂
Matt...Patrol GR 4.2 LWB...not the Spanish built ones...late 90's....its a Beast
The old Nissan Patrol was an impressive beast.
Just bought a 07 E70 X5 3.0si. Fully loaded. Absolutely love the car. Im surprised how much good tech a 17 year old car has.
Hi Matt, the wheel bearing type noise could be your part worn you had fitted, try swapping the the wheels around and see if the noise moves or disappears, have had this happen to myself in the past.

My favorite as always is the petrol Range Rover. İt is more comfortable than the other three and more fun to drive . Thanks for a nice video.
A great video. I do like a nice 4 x4 myself. I'd choose the Landcruiser. Love the colour of your one, and you got 4 bargains
This is the perfect example of “old but gold” especially that Range Rover it looks incredible!
I had a 2004 3.0i x5 was my dads last car loved it would love another one one day just for nostalgic reason

Track rod ends for the Toyota .👍
I used to have a SWB soft top Mitsubishi shogun in the mid 80's , loved that machine . Enjoyed your vid .
You need to find an early Nissan Patrol Safari! Or a GR from Dubai /GCC spec
That plate would go for £10k Plus easily
That noise could be the drive shaft,I had it go on mine, bit tricky to diagnose ,but dare say your lads will do it ok
Hi Matt, how about a Nissan Patrol? Huge, 8 seats, 5.6 litre V8? Get a brand new one in Australia and import it to the UK!
Have to be an oil sheikh to run one of those in the UK mate😂
You always answer my questions on these vids when I am typing them! But I didn't hear you mention the range rover that the transfermotion boys were working on....great selection. I do like that x5. Cheers

brilliant! Btw, u are a true duke, in a very good sense.
I'd love you to get either an old Mark 1 Nissan Patrol. Isuzu Trooper, Vauxhall Frontera Sport or finally a mark 1 Toyota Land cruiser
Love the channel, and out of personal experience the noise you hear on the Touareg could be coming from the front diff. Replaced mine on the Cayenne...Cheers
Really good video Matt! Loved it (and most of the vehicles 😂) 👍🏻
Brilliant Matt great entertaining vid looking forward to you expanding your collection of 4x4 s
Bravada….I’ll message you if I see a good one for sale locally (Texas, so it’ll be rust free). I don’t get the appeal, but I appreciate that you’re open about some of your unusual car obsessions as we all have our own.
Just checked Marketplace. There’s a few Bravadas for sale in CA and a couple across the border in AZ 😁
I'd always assumed a fairly important part of running a car sales business was actually selling cars rather than collecting them. It seems like a business area I would be suited for 😁
Ahh just the video for me today, cheers 🍻
VET 9 , will go for some serious £
buy them for less than 2000 and sell them to the scrapper the same day for 100...... splendid !
Matt - where do you park all these 4x4? The Trafford Centre car park?
Hey Matt, ensure you replace the front lower ball joints on that Land Cruiser Colorado. They are known to fail and may cause fatalities, if you're unlucky.
thanks Matt for sharing your collection - brilliant video as always.
Appreciate sharing your moment with us nice collection of motors guess the road tax will be high on range rover
Loved this one! I would love to one day have a collection like this. For now I’m stuck with my F25 X3 35i
I had a '97 manual 3.0D Prado for 300k kms. Not a single issue. Already done 150k when I bought it. Unmatched reliability.
Great video as always Matt. One of the things that puts me off big SUVs is the high road tax especially on older ones.
Any update on the Berlingo road trip?
Matt - just had a funny noise in my car that seemed gearbox related… turned out it was an idler pulley for the auxiliary drive belt.
Nice collection of 4x4's mate but I was more interested in the silver Lexus in the yard.Looked a very clean motor.
Another great video - I think you need one of those glass garages to display your collection in so you can view them from your sitting room
Another clear informative video! thanks for the content much appreciated
Excellent viewing as always.
That noise could be the front differential bearing , it's a common issue on the Touareg 7L
This is quite a dream collection. You still need a proper Pajero (shogun) and … I’m sorry but a Freelander 2 as well.
He has one but it didn’t get mentioned
Knowing Mat probably forgot 😂😂😂
How about a Lada Niva! Still the best!
My geography teacher had one, and I'm 58!
I would love to have that kind of car collection 😎😍
Very early 90's Nissan Armada,,,agricultural straight off the farm or battlefield...for American hunt try Alabama just above Florida panhandle,,,they keep their 4x4s and they don't rot out...

I have some "different" 4x4 suggestions: Hyundai Galloper, Hyundai Terracan, Ssangyong/Daewoo Musso (1st generation) and Cadillac Escalade.
Looking forward to the road trip video with the L322
One 4x4 that everyone ignores but is really pretty darn good is the:
"UMM Cournil"
You've got individual taste, I'll give you that. Not my type of car, but it's an interesting little collection.
Great video Matt, enjoyed 😊

Matt, you are a proper car nut pal
