      As I installed this kit, I looked back at everything wedged in the engine bay and thought I need a manifold with the port injection built in.
      The doc race ones look sexy, but you do have to pay for that sex appeal. I haven’t spent much time looking in to manifolds, but I think once the budget part of this build is finished and I pay my credit cards off 🤣, I’ll be switching the China fuel pumps first then installing a new intake manifold. They are the only 2 parts I don’t like on this car at the moment.
      MMP 1k’s are also amazing from what I have read. Maybe one day when these cheap china ones die.
      Regarding your trans, ive seen guys kissing 650whp on stock trans. They don’t last forever but they get 20k miles out of them and second hand they are fairly cheap.
      Hopefully today I’ll get the latest xHP maps loaded with the higher line pressure it will reduce the chance of the clutches slipping on high power shifts and in turn extend the life of these transmissions on high power cars. Should be good!

    I need upgraded fueling but I don't have a jb4. I'm wondering if you would recommend port injection or overdriven hpfp

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 роки тому

      Its definitely a personal preference thing. The overdriven HPFP option does work the stock fuel pump and injectors more. The long term affects of that on a frequently used vehicle is probably unknown right now. The advantage is you have less failure points. The port injection, removes a lot of stress from the stock fuel system, but you now how another 6 injectors and a control module that could fail. I prefer port inject right now, because its been around for nearly 6 years on the N54s, its relatively well tested. The double barrel overdrive kits have been around for a while, yes, but i still see people switching to port injection from a double barrel setup. The helix kits are very new, the first wave of installs had issues with the bracket holding the bump and cracking the vacuum housing, the new billet brackets are now on cars, so it will be another 6-12 months before we see reliability of the Helix system properly tested. If the helix system works and doesn't hurt the HPFP which is now being spun 3-4 times faster than it was designed for and also the extra flow doesnt where your stock injectors any more i'd probably go for that. But make sure you have a new HPFP already and also index 12 injectors.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 роки тому +1

      The port injection is the secondary fuel system. So for all the normal driving, the car still runs through the ultra efficient factory direct injection which stays on all the time even under high load. The port injection will kick in at a predetermined level, it will use a few factors to calculate how much fuel to pump through the port injection, but it really comes down to load on the engine and how close the stock system is getting to its limits. From memory the BMS controller turns the second low pressure fuel pump on at about 7-8psi so the port injection wont be working under that at all and it will feed in as much as needed to maintain required AFRs. This should be more than enough fuel for my power goals, so i dont think port injection will ever be working flat out.

      I did yes, i switched to the BMS PI Hybrid turbo map. Now the map is for upgraded turbos, so that wouldn't work perfectly with the stock turbos ( i think this is just in relation to vanos and timing tip in tbh). But the main thing is the PI hybrid flash has a different fuel scaler which reduces how much effort the stock DI fuel pumps in. If you don't switch maps you will possibly run too rich and throw a fault code.

    • @bennyang8049
      @bennyang8049 3 роки тому

      Zero To 60 , thank you. I was thinking that somewhere out there, there is a OTS map for stock turbos because i was planning on using PI to supplement extra fuel because i only want to run pump gas (no e85) on my car. This answered all the questions in my head.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  3 роки тому +1

      @@bennyang8049 You shouldn't really need PI unless you are running an ethanol blend. You will need some sort of octane booster like meth tho. So if you are running more than say 22psi but no e85, meth will be worth looking in to. Over 22psi on pump fuel you'll probably run in to knock issues regardless of how much pump fuel you can pump in. Most people will only use port injection for e85, or advanced meth injection. Not normally needed for pump fuel. E85 is the cheapest way to make power with the N54s. But next in line in meth injection. It all comes down to how well the N54 picks up knock and how it will pull timing.

    Can I just get port injection on the stock motor.?
    I'm asking.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 роки тому +1

      I thought the same thing. As soon as you have port injection you are going to have fuel running through the intake ports and that will help clean everything. I was concerned that it might dislodge a large chunk of carbon build up and in turn drop in to the engine, get caught in a valve etc, which is why i wanted to clean my valves before installing the port injection. However, now i have actually seen the carbon build up, it was really soft compared to what i was expecting, so it might be fine to put port injection on and hope for the best. In reality for the time it takes to walnut blast, or even what it costs to pay a shop to do it, you really should just clean everything then you know it will stay clean with the port injection.

    • @flinchy952
      @flinchy952 3 роки тому +1

      it would in theory help a little
      but remember you're not spraying anything out of the port injectors unless you're @ or near full throttle, and carbon buildup mostly occurs at cruise. if you've plugged the ports in the head and externalized the PCV, i'd say that in that case, yes, it probably entirely eliminates the need for walnut blasting then.

  • @EdmBassHead

    I'm a noob so by running the port injection does it rely on the port injectors only and not the gdi's? And do you gain power by running these plus why did you do this thanks!

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  3 роки тому +2

      The port injection simply supplements the DI under high load situations. So the DI is still doing the fuel most of the time. The port scales in based on boost and rpm. The easiest way to think about it is, the dme is trying to target a specific air fuel ratio. So the amount of fuel the DI pumps is not fixed, it's always checking the AFR and adjusting fuel flow through the DME. As the port injection adds fuel the DME simply winds its fuel back to meet the desired AFR. Which in turn reduces stress on the HPFP and di injectors. I went with the port injection as its by far most tried and tested method. Nearly all fast DI cars on any platform use supplementary port injection. This type of setup with both PI and DI is stock on the V10 lambos. Also N54s now have the ability to turn off the spark plug on a cylinder if there are any issues with the DI, so if the DME wants to shut a cylinder down, the port injection may keep firing for a split second, that cylinder wont go lean as the spark is shut off. With that feature its pretty much impossible to blow an N54 up with port injection. Port injection has the ability to make more power than any other option and it does it while reducing the stress on the direct injection. Lastly if you use a controller like the JB4 and BMS pi controller, the JB4 will limit boost if it senses any issues with the port injection. (It monitors current draw, if an injector isn't drawing normal amounts of current your car wont boost).

      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 роки тому

      Not a silly question at all. I wondered the same thing. The reality it doesn't help with pump gas. The octane on pump gas ends up being the limitation. The stock fuel system will flow enough pump gas to roll low to mid 500whp with big turbos. If you want to break the 600whp number you really need to be looking at e85 or meth. You can use this systems for meth injection. So if you dont have e85 available you run the same spacer and rail but feed it water meth and that when you will pull some decent numbers.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube

      Not to the engine or stock fuel system. It actually reduces the stress on the stock fuel pump and injections. The only downside is adding a few more points of failure. You now have another 6 injectors and another module. My take is, these cars already have about 100 points of failure from the factory so whats another 7....hehe. So really i don't see them as negative effects. Port injection has been going on N54s for well over 5 years now. If installed properly it should be relatively problem free.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube The top o-rings on my used Motiv PI rail are shot. Figured it was best to just change out the injectors, also. They are about 4 yrs old. Same as yours, I think. 500 or 550 psi.

    Can you add methanol into this type of setup or just run it on meth to get 600 whp and low intake temps. How would you compare meth port injection to gasoline port injection advantages and disadvantages.

      You can run meth and if you dont have access to e85 meth is a must. However i think if you can get e85 at the pump it is the way to go.

      Zero To 60 yeah I would go with Ken from Wedge Performance 100% hes tuned these 17ts before and made 600+ wheel or @pure_evil_tuning on insta for a kill map. Twisted Tuning is also a great company theres many though.

      Currently working with @pure_evil_tuning for a tune for my 335is. Jason has been responsive and quick with getting the tune out to me. Would recommend.

    Have you fitted the turbos yet? If so where is the video?😂

      Not yet, it’s coming though. We have to get the car ready for the turbos. Did you watch the video explaining all the supported mods that are needed for the hybrids?

      Zero To 60 I think so bud, only reason I’m saying this is because I have the 16T turbos about 3ft away from me and wanna see how much of a struggle it’s going to be haha.

      To be honest I don’t thinks it’s going to be too bad. I will be removing the subframe which only takes about hour so, should have good access. My biggest concern is battling with misfires when I wind them up. Which is why I’m fitting things one at a time, driving it for a day or so, making sure it’s all sweet then moving on to the next part.
      The port injection was the last piece of the puzzle before the the turbos. Hopefully have that working tomorrow or Monday at the latest. I’ve already paid for a “kill tune” for the stock turbos so I might run that for a week and see what times I can get with the stockies on full e85. Well see this virus is causing some problems with work tho. I’m hoping I don’t loose my workshop space.
