For me the thing about Billy is his genuine enthusiasm for all things funny. He is a genius comedian for sure but his delivery oozes excitement. It's like he is always so excited to hear the joke or funny observation again himself. Such a wonderful man. Always loved him, always will
This man, I will be absolutely heartbroken when this wonderful human being is no longer with us. He has left such a legacy. On a down day just pop on a Billy video and you will belly laugh x love you Big Yin
I was pregnant with my second mutant when I sat and watched this interview. My other half was at work and my little girl was in bed. I was absolutely crying my eyes out with laughter at this interview and I rang my dad who is a massive Billy fan and he thought something really bad had happened. When I finally got my words out I managed to tell him it was because of Billy. I remember the night so well. Haha
Brilliant writing my lady! You've got a we bit of comedian in yourself. I find his comedy in this interview re: growing old a wonderful way to laugh at our senior years & to find humor in our absurd body as it changes in these later years.
I brought my late Mum to see Billy at the local youth centre and he hurt us both so much from being bent over laughing trying to catch our breath. We both needed a laugh badly then and I still thank Billy to this day for one of mine and Mums best evenings. He told a joke about how demanding Women were in bed now, instructing " harder" "faster" etc. Ending with the pricelessly descriptive comment " My Arse was a blur" !!
He is the funniest man in the world. The Parkinson's disease that has forced his retirement from performing is a huge loss to us all. It must be so hard for him to have to retire. When you see him talking the spark is still there. We still love you Billy.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Billy on two occasions. First at a gig at the Apollo, Hammersmith. He said "God, I bet you get some stick, lookin' like that!" The next time I met this legend I took along my banjo. Not only did Billy play it for the crowd but he actually autographed it for me! He then was gracious enough as to ask how my tribute act was going. He then told me one of the secrets of his stage show........never to be divulged. 🙊
+Taylor P. Viagra????HAHAHAHA......as if! They have developed a form of Viagra that you put in your tea - it doesn't make your tea taste different but it keeps your biscuit from going soft when you dunk it!
Taylor P. The old story about Viagra was...when it was released this guy said "Can you get it over the counter?" His mate replies "Yeah, if ye take two!"
Love Billy Connolly 💙. We all are the richer for him being with us here and when he no longer can be, we will keep the richness going by the stories and joyousness he showed us.
Billy will forever be Billy Bones on Muppet Treasure Island for me. It's the first thing I ever saw him in, & his voice is so distinct, it's like a core memory. I hear his voice, & I'm instantly transported back in time to watching MTI as a child. ❤
Seen Billy 7 times over his long career, and had jaw-ache every single time from laughing. My favourite moment was when I stood and snapped his pic in the Reid Hall in Forfar (1980s) and he totally ripped me a new one. I deserved it too. Just young and foolish, it was about this time Billy was being hassled by the media but he's such a good sport and my favourite ever Scotsman. Long live King Billy!
He is a brilliant comedian - audiences love him - from the moment he appears on tv or on stage he has the audience in the palms of his hands - love him
Billy holds the record for the number of times he appeared on the Parkinson show. Parky said that every time Billy appeared on his show it increased the viewing figures by a million.
The best most original and funny comedian to walk the planet. The comic who every other comic aspires to be, and be as funny as. Billy is a complete force of nature and brings uncontrollable tears of laughter to millions
What a wonderful and warm person. He’s up there with David Attenborough, Parkinson, David Frost, Joanna Lumley, Robin Day, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie as offering a wonderful commentator on the fantastic but absurd meaning of life. Thank you. Xxx
Yeah Parky seemed better than most. I've just got off a rabbit hole of Letterman and J Ross and they were horrible tabloid cretins asking inane disgusting questions that would make most people fall apart on live TV.
Billy you're a legend and so is your beautiful New Zealand/Australian wife (loved her book on her Stevenson forefathers). I've followed you for years, stage, tv, dvds etc., and you have filled me with love & laughter - a reminder of my own Scottish relatives - from a New Zealand/Australian wife!
Billy is so relatable. He spent his whole life observing the absurd we all experience and most importantly either remembering it or recording it. I assume Billy had a remarkable memory and story telling brain. We all know a Billy in our lives.
This guy is old old now in 2016/17, but even at this time way back when he started to be really old.. he still had the old magic.. I know it's almost gone now, but he was THE BEST COMEDIAN EVER - God bless Billy :)
Billy you're a legend and so is your beautiful New Zealand/Australian wife. I've followed you for years, stage, tv, dvds etc., and you have filled me with love & laughter - a reminder of my own Scottish relatives - from a New Zealand/Australian wife!
Billy Connolly is a true legend he made it under his own steam. There is no.need to mention Panela Stephenson he was famous before he met her. She was a bit of a weirdo not always nice to Billy.
@@rhodarobertson9835 You do talk some rubbish. If it wasn't for Pamela, he would have stayed on the drink and would probably be dead by now. We wouldn't be having this conversation.
The thing about Billy is that he doesn't have to try to be funny like a lot of modern comedians. He is just naturally funny and you laugh at the things he says because you want to and not because you feel you have to. A total entertainer of the very first class.
No one else has ever made me laugh like Billy....he renders me unable to speak through laughing....I adore him....it'll be a sad day when he gives up the stage...funniest man on the planet in my opinion
The first time I was introduced to Billy Connolly as an actor was in Muppet Treasure Island (1996). At the time I had no idea he was such a great standup comedian, then again I was seven so go figure.
saw billy in brighton last week billy u r one of my heroes u r a absolute legend mate I and millions luv ya mate happy xmas to billy, family and every one .we need more like billy.thank god for laughter
stevestheboy1 I met him in Glasgow with my luck he walked into the shop I was in and I got a photo with him and spoke to him for a good while, it was the best day of my life
these two were hardened drinking buddies together. and used to go on binges in australia, where they'd be found in pub brawls, and walking gassed along motorways in sydney! very good close friends to this day.
Or grunting when putting your socks & shoes on, because your stomach is in the way & you hardly breathe. Started not long after my 30th birthday. And it only gets worse. 😂😂
Billy was such a visual comedian that was brilliant at drawing the audience into his stories with his own laughter at what he knew was coming. His songs were great like Supergran and the Orient Express as they told their own stories. Such a talent and it will be a sad day when he passes but he'll leave a wonderful legacy of fun and laughter.
One of the genuinely great things about Billy C that rarely ever gets mentioned is his humility. He has never been reticent about giving credit for his jokes & patter. I'm sure there's been loads of times he's given the credit to someone else for his joke but in reality he's actually created the funnyness in it. I went to see him live in two consecutive nights in Glasgow in the early 90's. Both nights had the same 'themes' but you just couldn't tell. He gave credit to others but each time the joke or story is a bit different and always funny.
He weaves his story bit by bit cleverly bringing hilariously funny asides. He is a natural the funniest man on earth. Sending love to him from Australia best of luck with his health. Keep on Billy. I laugh belly laughs till I cry. B
ive met billy Connolly and trust me he is funny on and off the stage. he had me in stitches in glasgow high st . he told me. after i said "billy hows you" he said " well im completely insane now with old age" so thats a good thing pal" lol
Two old friends having a chat. All the greats that I grew up listening to and watching have either left us or are at and age where time is catching them. The future is going to be sad and bad when the last pass .
Does anyone find it ironic that Billy spent years wishing to be on Parkinson's and then ended up with Parkinsons? Like some horrendous administrative error by god. Keep strong Billy. xx
What really gets me are these people who watch comedians then complain that they are too vulgar, sexist, racist, misogynistic, or just too near the bone. Why the hell do they watch them then.
For me the thing about Billy is his genuine enthusiasm for all things funny. He is a genius comedian for sure but his delivery oozes excitement. It's like he is always so excited to hear the joke or funny observation again himself. Such a wonderful man. Always loved him, always will
the best thing about billy, is the interviewer hardly says a word! he can literally fill a full show just why waffleing on, i love him
This man, I will be absolutely heartbroken when this wonderful human being is no longer with us. He has left such a legacy. On a down day just pop on a Billy video and you will belly laugh x love you Big Yin

The best comedian with the best interviewer. what a fitting way for Parky to go out.
He is the funniest man in the world.
The Parkinson's disease that has forced his retirement from performing is a huge loss to us all. It must be so hard for him to have to retire. When you see him talking the spark is still there. We still love you Billy.

Love Billy Connolly 💙. We all are the richer for him being with us here and when he no longer can be, we will keep the richness going by the stories and joyousness he showed us.
His bum and bike joke will outlive him by centuries. What a comedian. Thank you Billy.
One of the all time greats. So underrated.
Billy will forever be Billy Bones on Muppet Treasure Island for me. It's the first thing I ever saw him in, & his voice is so distinct, it's like a core memory. I hear his voice, & I'm instantly transported back in time to watching MTI as a child. ❤

The most honest and funniest guy that invaded our lives! Love you Billy for who you are!
He is a brilliant comedian - audiences love him - from the moment he appears on tv or on stage he has the audience in the palms of his hands - love him
I lived there and can't believe I missed it.
Billy holds the record for the number of times he appeared on the Parkinson show. Parky said that every time Billy appeared on his show it increased the viewing figures by a million.
I went and saw Billy at the Vector Arena in 2014 and he was wonderful. Seeing him perform on stage was awesome. I collect his DVD's. Wonderful Man.
He’s my all time favourite stand up comedian, always makes me laugh, no matter how many times you see him 😂😂👏👏❤️

Best interview ever mr Parkinson’s with Billy Connolly😜🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

I'm watching this in Melbourne, Australia, where it's officially Billy's 80th BIRTHDAY 24/11/2022
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sir Billy Connolly 😘
Billy is so relatable. He spent his whole life observing the absurd we all experience and most importantly either remembering it or recording it. I assume Billy had a remarkable memory and story telling brain. We all know a Billy in our lives.

I am so glad to see this again. I watched it on TV and felt sad afterwards.

Funniest man on the planet, brilliant musician and a wise and compassionate human being.
Tracy Lee )
Really? Funniest man on the planet? Wow.
This is the kind of guest I love where the interviewer ask about four questions in 15 minutes because the guest is so great !
Two legends together.
I absolutely love the relationship these two had. Love you, Parky and Billy ❤❤❤
I've loved Billy for decades - and he's still a great laugh. :)
There is NO better talk show host than Parky and not many comedians on par with Billy Connolly!
Billy, Robin Williams and Dame Edna....that'd surely be the dream for any talk show....
Holy shit almost 10 years ago now (well almost 9 but 9 is almost 10 ). Feck I'm feeling old.
The first time I was introduced to Billy Connolly as an actor was in Muppet Treasure Island (1996). At the time I had no idea he was such a great standup comedian, then again I was seven so go figure.

Billy you are a legend I grew up laughing my ass off listening to the 'Big Yin'. Thanks for the giggles.
My favorite bit was off Pale Blue Scottish Man. The tale of trying to remember a thought, which is on a merry-go-round. Funny stuff!
When he talks about always needing to make people laugh and going through the airport, I can really relate to that.
I love billy
1990 watched Billy At Albert that helped me get thru the first 24 hours of my mothers death. Billy is amazing
The lentil soup. "Did you make this yourself?"
Etc.
"I am one in him and he is one in me"

this line was a classic Billy moment - loved it !!!

Keep strong Billy. xx
He doesn't exist
Nope
He ended up with 'it' not Parkinson's. He refuses to honour the vile disease with a name.
i love the tale of gavin, which starts at 8.15.
Blessed
every clip i watch he always makes me laugh 😂
Scotlands finest...... Legend.
What really gets me are these people who watch comedians then complain that they are too vulgar, sexist, racist, misogynistic, or just too near the bone.
Why the hell do they watch them then.
Alba Productions i agree a comedian's stock and trade is to be funny and all the ists are funny, people need to climb down and have a laugh!
Yea that's IT! Couldn't remember exactly. Thanks!
great, wonderfull guys both of them !!
greatest comedian of all time!
i love him.
