Here to pay tribute to Dame Edna. Absolute genius. Rest in peace.
So sharp, he made us laugh.
HERE HERE
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🎚🎚🎚🎚🎚Barry Humphries was very very brilliant person to made this incredible creator of our favorite drag Queen we all love u Dame Edna
Here here! A true legend!
Same here. Wonderful talent. RIP.
Credit must go to Michael Parkinson for allowing Dame Edna to completely take over his show, I have lost count how many times I have watched this clip. hilarious and makes me feel so good inside
me too....it always cheers me up
I completely agree. Amazing host.
I also completely agree. Few people are confident enough to remove themselves from it when necessary. He is a total professional.
That’s a chat show host’s dream, a guest who takes over and steals the show. Doubt he’d want another Meg Ryan incident.
Dame Edna always owns the stage no matter what show she is on!
The funniest 16 minutes of talk show history. The master at work!
My gynecologist looked up this morning...... He can hardly stifle his own laughter at that point.
2 absolute legends together.
I don't know how many times I've watched this clip and never fails to have me in stitches.
We will miss you both so much. Rip Barry and Michael, the world will never be the same without you both.
I'm low at the moment and I watch this every day it helps me so much what talent's R.I.P ❤
You will be 'high' tomorrow...keep the faith! 🙏
This is my favourite interview with Dame Edna, simply the best and most hilarious omg Dame Edna you are so missed ❤
What I most love about this is the way Dame Judi & Sharon kick off their shoes, sit as though they're in their own sitting rooms, and just allow themselves to be entertained. Not only does it speak volumes for Dame Edna's abilities as a guest, but it's an extremely generous gesture from them to acknowledge the skill of that performance.
I wud have loved to smell her shoes
Yes, a good observation - speaks volumes
Thank you for that comment. That was a masterclass in professional comedy: beautifully crafted, seemingly effortless, utterly believable, complex and killingly funny. That little bit more sad so soon after his last curtain call.
Oh, so sad.
Spot on.
They were grossly outclassed and wore it. Idiot
Possibly the best Dame Edna ever.
She simply owns the audience.
I've seen practically every video of her on UA-cam. I think this may be her best appearance ever.
@@desiderius82 I too… This is superb television, I won’t ever tire of rewatching it :-))
@@desiderius82 I agree but the 2nd best is the Joan Rivers show with Joan from dynasty as a guest. This one is amazing,
@@desiderius82 Have u seen Edna on Blind Date for comic relief? So funny 😂😂😂
Type in Dame Edna school bully on the US show the View. Hilarious.
I always watch this when I need a laugh. Thank you Barry for all that you have given us. Rest in Peace
Me too !
Yeh! Thank you Barry? You been a gem in a rather f...ked world RIP
Me too. He is a genius and I will never forget him.
Wasn't he absolutely fantastic?
I've watched this at least 50 times over the years...still laugh out loud like the first time! RIP Barry
Standing ovation for Dame Edna. Never will we see the likes of her again.
This is the greatest talk show host moment in tv history. 14 minutes of pure Barry magic. Never get sick of watching this classic!!!!
agree!
To our Lord Jesus Christ , this is sin. Nothing more, nothing less. I bet you hate the bible. I know Barry does.
Nowadays this type of genius would be cancelled before even starting.
@@michaelhiggins1235 Genius? You're just like the rest of the world, you're yet in your sins as Paul says. You and Barry better repent before it's too late. That's a loving thing when you warn people of sin.
@@roncampo5923 oh just F off. Jesus was GAY
RIP Michael Parkinson and Barry Humphries. Absolutely brilliant interview.
Well said.Both sadly missed.
I saw Dame Edna on stage in London whenever she appeared. I remember one show when it was announced at the interval that she wouldn't be able to appear because tragically Norm, her husband, had died. The house lights came on for quite some time, everyone was chatting and laughing. Then it was announced that Dame Edna's car had been spotted and that she couldn't let down her loyal fans. She appeared in a black creation and said she'd been speaking on the phone to her analyst in LA. He had told her that time was a great healer. She said that Norm had been dead for four hours and she felt better already! Legend.
RIP Barry Humphries (February 17, 1934 - April 22, 2023), aged 89
And
RIP Sir Michael Parkinson (March 28, 1935 - August 16, 2023), aged 88
You both will be remembered as legends.
I've watched this interview at least 15 times and I'm still laughing my head off. Thanks Dame Edna!
Me, too.
I agree with that….. Dame Edna was outside to make people laugh and Barry Humphries who inside to made Dame Edna become real iconic Real Queen drag Queen I understand pretty good where or who came from also he raised 2 kids I’m very happy that he can handle the kids while he stay on focus his greatest character to make people laugh after he’s passed away then Tyler Perry becomes black drag Queen take his turn as Madea . After that u never know who come next Drag Queen
My words are very heavy kind
Rest In Peace ✌️my friend
you should seek medical attention if you have watched this that many times
it's better for your health than attention seeking is
If you haven't watched it at least 15 times, what are you doing here? I've been a Bazza fan for over 45 years; the man was a comedic genius.
I've seen it at least half a dozen times. Still cracks me up!
Pure comedic genius. Dame Edna commands the audience & owns the platform. Parky & guests provide the sounding board against which Humphries rails in uncompromised, humorous delight. Quite sublime.
Dame Edna truly holds court in this hilarious interview. Judi and Sharon are hysterical and Michael lets it all happen naturally. One of the best episdes.
The wonderful style of comedy we just don't see, anymore. Pure class.
Utter genius. The timing is perfect. I have watched this so many times I almost know it off by heart. And there has been no greater chat show host than Michael Parkinson. He let his guests shine.
I agree, watched multiple times, great mood lifter.
Simply the best.
The skill of tearing into someone without being course and rude is a skill very few modern comedians have.
Just came across this while on a break in my truck😂almost pissed myself laughing.
Barry Humphries pure genius.
Thank you for decades of laughter Mr. Humphries! Rest in peace.
Never have I seen a comedian completely own an audience like Dame Edna. She has no peer and no equal. And no other male comedian worldwide has dared create their own Edna. You just can't replicate perfect.
hear hear..well said
Madea is another form.
Tannie Evita from South Africa is just as good if not better
Rubbish. Uys is well past his sell-by date.
who the fuck is that ...
This is more than just old school drag at its finest, which it IS. Humphries has perfect timing, delivery and the charisma to not only keep the audience wrapped around his finger, but the other guests and the host! And he never breaks character! A legend in every sense of word
I love the way he looks at Sharon and Dame Judi as if to playfully dare them to laugh.
He was hilarious and genius 😂r.i.p...barry
What a tour de force of personality and charisma.. incredible talent.
A masterclass in Australian drag comedy
His wit was marvellous, so fast. The pauses, just genius. Rest in Peace, you wonderful person.
This is by far the best Dame Edna interview ever!
She was in full flight!!! 😂😂😂
The perfect antidote to Covid. As a practicing Homeopath, I just want to say how blessed we are possums, to have Dame Edna as our cultural attaché to the world. There will never be another as brilliant as the Dame. Love from a devoted fan.

Clovid?? Covid.
@@johnfranklin5277 COVID really......;-)
Yes, says another practicing homeopath.
That was my favourite joke in the whole very funny interview.
Love this. Michael barely asks a question, it’s one long monologue - complete comedy masterclass
That's what I loved about Parky. He let people speak. Other chat show hosts are too narcissistic these days.
All of Michael's "questions" are pre-planned set ups for her material. He's playing the role of straight man very well.
Rest In Peace Dame Edna, you brightened all our lives with your hilarities, God bless you Barry Humphries, you will forever be in our hearts and memories.
The delivery of the punch lines are absolutely amazing. The level of intelligence is out of this world..
Without doubt Barry Humphries is the funniest comedian for me EVER. He's quick, clever and never uses foul language. He's in total control.
He is a genius. Love him.
and reminds me just a bit of Carol Burent, in that he is soooo funny, there are times you can see he is struggling to not burst out laughing himself. Comic timing for sure.
@@jimquantic Yeah Burnett never said anything that wasnt scripted to the nth degree. She was no comedian. I wached Burnett for years, I even saw her in Pete and Tillie. She was rubbish. And butt ugly. Funny as haemmorroids
@@zapkvr I always tell people to try to stick to the objective, while of course we all have a right to a subjective opinion too. But in the objective--that which is a fact, Burnet was often NOT scripted in many cases--and SHE wrote the script. To the subjective, she was one of the funniest (to me and millions of others) though of course I can't "prove" that through objective means. She proved her worth to me and many others. Honestly--again, to me and many others, it is your opinion that is rubbish.
I rarely laugh at most comedians these days. But I was really laughing through this entire thing 😂. Dame Edna is the best! Thank you for posting this. ❤
This interview is an absolute work of art by Dame Edna. You will forever live on in our ❤️’s.
It is amazing how Barry easily takes control of the stage and has the entire assembly hanging with baited breath on his every word - masterfully spinning out a story with double entendres, with his perfectly timed charm and sharp mind. There will never be another entertainer like him. RIP - and thank you for all the joy your gave us!! 👍

" ... and my special guest Michael Parkinson ..."
She just OWNS every stage she goes on!
Possibly my favourite bit. She is in total control from the moment she appears.
This is 15 minutes of turbo charged comedy genius! Even the other distinguished guests are reduced to admiring spectators by this man’s performance. A true entertainer.
This made me laugh so many times when I’ve felt down. Thank you Barry Humphries for making me laugh. So frightening to see so many greats leaving us. God Bless You.
This performance is so utterly brilliant I cannot imagine anything more perfect.
What I adore most about this interview is that Sharon and Judi are so in sync. They mirror each other's posture, both kick off their shoes and pull their legs up on the chair in the identical manner. It's just a lovely relaxed moment between them all. And Michael has enough common sense to just let Edna go and have run. Sheer brilliance.
My thoughts exactly! I love this interview clip, they all seem to be so wonderfully in the moment.
It’s Dame Edna at her Zenith!!
judi dench actually looks really uncomfortable, thats a front
@@jamiew1664 Don't be ridiculous. Look at her body language, the relaxed posture, the informal way she draws her feet up and kicks off her shoes... if she was uncomfortable, she'd be sitting upright, shoes on and a frozen smile on her face.
@@pepshaven6520 she’s mirroring Sharon because she’s nervous, and Sharon is more confident.
Do you know how good this is?
I laughed from beginning to end.
Parkinson as always a great host.
They don't make like this anymore. More is the pity. We were so lucky.
It is just TV gold, so much to love, what a beautiful bunch of souls!
This is possibly the very best of the best Dame Edna interviews - it's hilarious from start to finish.
Dame Edna at her Zenith
Agree, I can watch it over and over again and it's still funny 💯
Parky and Edna/Les/Barry were friends for decades and they knew how to have fun. Their interactions were legendary.
This 15ms would have to be one of the greatest live comic acts of all time. Just hilarious.
This is pure magic from a comedy genius.
I watch this so often. It’s a masterpiece of performance by Dame Edna, and ably facilitated by all three others there 🌟
Barry Humphries is the greatest comedic genius of our day. His timing is absolutely flawless!
You can see Humphries needing to compose himself before the 'toyed with the priesthood' line so he doesn't crack up whilst delivering it. Such a brilliant, brilliant man.
He brilliantly waits for the audience to quiet down, so the punchline isn’t missed.
@@rodnorth1 YES, its all about the nerve of taking that pause, andk now when to release that tension, she is brilliant, and hilariously funny, its a true art :)

Dame Edna was always hilarious. She insults the hell out of people in such a comical way.

@@Roger__Wilco .....Please note, I wrote my comment two years ago. And to add: I was in the second row with a mate of my own at the first show of Edna's in a London theatre fifty years ago (yes, seriously). I dreaded, like anyone else, that she would pick me from the audience. My stomach ached from laughter at this performance of Humphries as a comic genius. Nothing has changed since then. I mourn his death. Robert, UK.
We will NEVER see the likes of this ever again! Dame Edna, was and is, the very pinnacle of improvisation and comedic timing. There is literally no-one else comparable. One of the greatest losses to showbiz and never to be replaced. Very sadly missed. RIP Barry and thank you for the wonderful entertainment, laughter and hilarity you brought to so many. We miss you. ❤
"Ditto" totally agree!!!
I like how Dame Edna thanked "HER" guests at the end of the show. Just proved how in controlled she was, and how at ease Parky was also.
Barry Humphries. What a force of nature he was. Absolutely razor sharp, always in full control and works the audience like a charm. I hope you find your peace, dear Barry. You were an absolute dream. X
Of all the hilarious clips of Dame Edna, this is the Parkinson interview I keep coming back to. I don't know...she's firing on all cylinders here, with the good-natured Parkinson, Dame Judi and (especially) Sharon Osborne as her willing foils. I think Edna's genius--on full display here--is her ability to seamlessly blend the cheerful Dotty Dowager with the knowing, razor-sharp social satirist. Brilliant!
Proof you can be hilarious without profanity. Thanks so much Barry.

I used to think nothing was funny without a fucking cunt or two. What an idiot I was. Thank you.
You can be filthier than the Edinburgh Fringe without profanity as this "interview" proves!
You can also be hilarious with profanity, as Peter Cook & Dudley Moore proved. ua-cam.com/video/jTifRi3qDk/v-deo.html
in fact she hates profanity but sadly when dame edna spoke out about that, she was slammed for it...

I've only watched this about 5 or 6 times. Not nearly often enough, as this is the funniest darned "interview" show I've ever seen in my life. What a great crew!!!
100% TRUE!!!!!
What a journey and Ph.D on how to host television courtesy of Dame Edna. Pure class and pure comedy. Nobody had a chance.
Even after all these years, phenomenal, absolutely fantastic and entertaining! Can’t believe the almost 500 thumbs down, they have no sense of humor at all!
I watch this several times a week, and I laugh more and more each time. What a genius Barry Humphries is.
The best interviewer with the best guest. Superb.
I was living in London when Barry married his second wife and one of the papers reported that Dane Edna would not be attending the nuptials. Imagine my delight to be on a bus and overhear a conversation between two ladies speculating as to the reason the Dame was not attending, Barry would have loved it!

So true - comedy genius!!!
I'll second that Nicholas...thank you Barry!
This is when it was just innuendo and unthreatening. One of the funniest characters EVER! R.I.P Mr. Humphries 🙏❤
A Master, the likes we’ll never see again
Very few performers can come on and just hit the ground running like this, with a stream of brilliant dialogue. Robin Williams could do it. Billy Connolly could do it. As other people have said in the comments, Barry Humphries (her manager and mentor) is a genius who turned Dame Edna into what she became here. And let's pay tribute and give credit to Parky. Very few interviewers have the skill to feed the few minimal and essential questions to the guest, then stand back to let them do what they do so well. (And I've just realised that Barry Humphries was 70 at the time of this appearance.)
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,,,
Her comedic timing is superb. I can listen to her all day long!
Hello how're you doing?
'I'm a homeopath, mom and so is my roommate' 🤣🤣😅😅😅😂😂😂😂 Simply brilliant! R.I.P., Dame!! 😍😍😍
🤣🤣🤣🤣 just brilliant
I can't imagine how we can be expected to go on without Dame Edna. A legend.
I love how Dame Judy and Sharon, take off their shoes halfway through, and get so relaxed
Dame Judy was living for it. She was genuinely enjoying herself and I think they all were. This is one of Dame Edna’s best.
One of the true improvisational genius's of comedy. I doubt there's been 1/2 dozen stand-ups in the last 100 years that could sit for 15 minutes and do what
Humphries just did. Amazing. I'm glad t's been preserved
Very little of that was improvised; in fact, you can hear many of the same jokes on other chat shows she was on. Parkinson was setting her up for her pre-planned material (some of which Sharon annoyingly stepped on). Doesn't make her any less brilliant.
@@premanadi really? I've never heard Humphries repeat any jokes before. But even if it was a prepared gag he was in a league of his own in
the world of humor
@@spactick I agree that he was brilliant, and he did improvise when he is interacting with audiences. But the bulk of what he does is very carefully prepared. Sharon even stepped on a couple of his punchlines, leaving him struggling a little to pick things up again.
I watched a slew of his chat show interviews in a row and there was quite a bit of repeat material. It's more of a performance than an interview or conversation as such.
@@premanadi really, it seems so spontaneous. I saw him here 'live' in San Francisco several years ago and he interacted with the audience
with people who were definitely not part of his show and it was hysterical. It did not look planned or practiced in any way. But who knows.
Thanks for the input
@@spactickYep, that's part of his brilliance, making it all seem off the cuff. I'm sure that when he interacted with a live audience, that part was spontaneous.

Barry and Michael had such a long-term friendship that translated on air; you can see how Michael is so content to let Barry dominate his stage for the whole time cause he knows it's in safe hands. You can see Barry almost break once right before the "toy with the priesthood" comment; that lower lip almost breaks rank. I've watched this at least 50 times and can't stop! So damn good!!!
I've never seen anyone kill an interview like that!! Inspirational!! Wish Michael Parkinson was still doing his shows and Dame Edna Everage was on it everyweek
Jonathon Adlingon here in Oz they’re replaying the Parkinson show on Sunday nights. It’s such a treat.
What an icon we have lost with Barry Humphries and this is him/her at their finest. When Im having a down day or a touch of the blues I watch this Parkinson show with Dame Edna and it makes me laugh out loud everytime.
This is a combination of the greatest chat show host ever and the greatest chat show guest ever.
Parky always did his homework meticulously but never had a script. He has interviewed all the greats of cinema, sport and entertainment for all his adult life and his technique is always 'the life and times of' his guests not the promotion of the latest film/book/tour etc.. Something which Woody Allen didn't take too kindly to. His lawyers tried but failed to prevent the broadcast of their interview ("The public perception is that you married your own daughter").
As has been said, Barry Humphries as Dame Edna was a comic genius - always outrageous but in a believable way, incredibly quick-witted, with an absolutely huge backstory and with exceptional comic timing and pace. There are two moments in this masterclass where Dame Edna almost corpses and has to pause, and they are before delivering the "He toyed with the priesthood" line because the audience were already in hysterics before he got there and after her gynaecologist, "Looked up this morning and he said to me" for the same reason. She starts her appearance by kissing Laurie Holloway (who's band also played on Dame Edna's shows) and saying that this was 'her' studio (from the Dame Edna Show/Experience - where top guests lined up week after week to be insulted) and ends by thanking "My special guest - Michael Parkinson!" - a full comic circle.
Dame Judy and Sharon Osbourne represent us, the viewers in this, in being in frequent fits of uncontrollable laughter. Sharon puts up a fight at times but is then put down each time even more. "Two dames and a commoner. And there is no one commoner than you Sharon".
We have lost a genius. Thank heavens for UA-cam.
I think Barry Humphries is one of the greatest comedic improvs of all time.
Very little improv involved here. It's all carefully planned, including the set ups from Parky. You can see her doing many of the same jokes on other chat shows.
I watch this “interview”, in which Edna hosts her mate Parky’s show, every few weeks-it never fails to deliver smiles, laughs and being bowled over by the wit, timing & professionalism of adorable Dame Edna!
Only got to look at dame Edna and I'm in stitches 😄😄😄❤
