I was on the 34 heading for Govan Cross and the bus was on Renfield St. we stop at a bus stop and a young mum, about 30ish gets on with her daughter who would be about 4 or 5. The daughter is wearing a pale blue coat with white fur trim, looking very smart and like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. In her arms she's clutching this HUGE giraffe stuffed toy. So mum gets the tickets sorted and they sit down, mum takes the window seat, little Miss takes the aisle seat, there's no room for the stuffed toy so it's now on it's side in the aisle. The driver checks his mirrors before setting off, sees the giraffe blocking the passage and shouts down the bus " Here hen, ye cannae leave that lyin there", to which Miss Innocence shouts back " Ye f*ckin stupid? It's a f*ckin giraffe, no a f*ckin lion". Took 10 minutes before the driver could stop laughing enough to continue down Renfield Street.

The first time we went to see Billy in Sydney, he went overtime so long that our car got locked into the car park. The next time he kept saying that he had to wind up because people had gotten lock out of their car last time. He of course carried on anyway. I'm from Glasgow and those bus stories are hysterical. When I was getting married, my fiancee and I were taking gifts to our flat. We got on the bus and sat on the side seats, bus is basically empty, past peak hour. I'm sitting next to the pole at the side and I am holding a brass pole off a floor lamp. There is a young policeman sitting opposite me and he is going to the sub station round from our flat. This lady sitting farther up the bus gets up to get off the bus. Evidently bus driver is new, grinding the gears, bus jerking like crazy just as the lady passes me. She grabs hold of the pole from my floor lamp, I was not expecting that, and I let it go. She ends up flat on her back legs up in the air, and she is wondering what the hell happened. I'm hysterical laughing, my husband to be, helps the woman up. She tells him they need to repair the buses, I can't stop laughing. My fiancee drags me off the bus, pole lamp and all and the young policeman gets off as well, 4 bus stops before he should have. Policeman and I end up leaning against the railings of Queens Park laughing hysterically. My fiancee, madder than hell has walked off carrying the shade to the floor lamp. I often wonder how Billy would have told this story. I still laugh when I think about it and that was decades ago.
I've had MANY interesting encounters on the 62 from Clydebank to Glasgow when I was younger, things you wouldn’t experience anywhere in the world other than Glasgow busses😂

Always loved Billy. I remember loads of his material and the way he delivered it. The poor family with coats on the bed. Wandering the streets, beer in hand, listening out for parties to crash. All funny as hell.
His insight into how we all lived in glasgow makes mr howl with laughter. Yes-when it was cold-before central heating was there- and extra coat on the bed kept us warm. And when he mimics his Mum saying to the visiting priest-“have another custard cream father. That’s what they’re there for…..”- It was hilarious- because that really happened!😂😂😂

Greetings out of Africa! Please allow me to be brutally honest - I always thought that the Bus Stop joke by Kevin Bridges is the top joke of ALL jokes, but now I realise that this Dwarf Joke is on the same level. Absolutely love it!!!
Amazing live, laughed so hard for hours and when I left could hardly remember a thing he had said just knew I had literally cried at some points with laughter. Had to buy the video to rewatch. Thank god it was recorded . I still have that video.
This reminds me of a story my Mum told me. She and my older sister was taking the bus. My sister who where about 4 or 5 years then, had the habit of pointing at things she found fascinating or peculiar and then asking mum about it. Now, my mother had told her before the ride that if she found something they could talk about it later at home and not on the bus. My sis agreed and Mum thought she was safe until a dwarf woman went on the bus and my sister pointed at her and with a clear voice said aloud: “We can talk about her later when we get home!” The sh*t kids say!😂 Poor Mum!
One of my ex girlfriends told me she saw a midget driving through town. I started to laugh and told her it was a friend of mines uncle. I met him a few times he was pretty cool. I found out he was a tunnel rat in Vietnam.
I swear I could listen to this guy for hours tell all his stories, he is just fucking hilarious. But then I would likely end up in the hospital in stitches LOL One of the best comedians this world will ever have.

Must've seen this bit 20 times by now... I know how it unfolds, still gets me every time. I also do hope it's true, the big Glasgow woman should get a comedy award for that.
There's a special floating around somewhere on UA-cam where Susan Calman meets Billy for the first time and tells him how he inspired her to go into comedy. He could have responded with a joke, and I doubt anyone would have been surprised, and Susan probably would have been okay with it. But he just smiled and said, "That's brilliant." He then went on to tell her how good it felt to know that he'd inspired someone. When it was time to go, she probably floated home.
There are life lessons in Billy’s humour and I especially love how unfiltered it is. He just tells you what he sees and hears. His brain is a fascinating and beautiful thing ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of his best!! A friend in England sent me this after he left the States. Had me rolling!! People need to lighten up and quit being so sensitive to jokes I realize some are really made fun of, but if you stop and think about it, we ALL have things that can be made fun of. Fat, skinny, young, old beautiful or ugly. Its just life....
Billy makes me start smiling with mirth as soon as he walks on stage and before he has said anything. Probably the funniest comedian and raconteur I have ever heard. Bless you for bringing so much joy to so many people. Such a shame that we don't have anyone that comes close to his humour and humility in this day and age.

@Alanoffer. Unfortunately that time has already arrived, comedians in the UK are running scared thanks to the politically correct mob. Though don't listen to me, I'm old.
It's interesting that one feels like most comedians shy away from telling stories, instead making it sound like everything really happened to them. But Billy often talks about stories, and doesn't seem to make such a strong distinction between life and storytelling, like the latter is simply a natural part of life. Great guy, great storyteller.

Billy Connolly has had me in stitches for over 30 yrs, one of the best comedians ever,, ❤️😂😂😂❤️🇦🇺
indeed m8, i remember 1st watching him with me daa on our 1st tv set and i went to bed laughing abd woke up Saturday morning still laughing......brilliant comedian
His first “Audience With” was and still is one of the funniest hour or two on TV.
Plastic pants down the disco. 😂😂😂
Him and Dave Allan....... just pure gold.
He was good in the X Files movie.
Is everyone on here mad? Totally unfunny. 🙁
If this happened anywhere else but in Glasgow, i'd say "i hope its true", but because it in fact did happen in Glasgow, i'm pretty sure it's a true story lol
Could happen in Yorkshire too.
My thoughts exactly
West Midlands Black Country would have found a way to mention the other six.

Yes it is true
Absolutely genius. From Glasgow myself and no doubt the story will be true. That's what us Glaswegians are like. Billy Connolly at his best.
The brilliant Billy Connelly. Brightening up lives daily.
Especially the lives of the disabled!!
The fact that Billy really enjoys the fun in his stories himself as well, says it really comes out himself, what makes it so great. Billy, you are and always will be Billy and that's lovely for us.
Billy you are and always will be Billy. What does that even mean. He's not going to change into someone else.
Your day can be headed to hell in a fury and a dose of Billy will have you laughing to tears.
I have only just realised how fascinating this man really is. Listened to his autobiography whilst working and was totally enthralled with his stories humour life experience and wisdom. He is a real inspiration for anyone who needs inspiration!
Best stand up comedian ever.
Possibly
You are a living LEGEND Billy ,I've watched your video's for ever I'm 61 and I hope you carry on with tv series it's made laugh and ponder afew things you said in them
Let the man enjoy his retirement.
Probably one of the best observers of life, certainly the best story teller. Thanks Billy.
Billy is one of the funniest guys on the planet. What a legend.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Why had I never heard of Billy Connelly until just this week? This guy deserves an award of some kind.
If you never heard of Bill Connelly until this week then you must be living a very sheltered life. Look at BC and his silver locks, has been around forever, even us Irish folk have been watching his acts for over 20 years.
@@Tombro1856 maybe. I have watched others like Eddie Izzard, Tim Minchin, Jasper Carrott and of course Python for many years. I just don't recall anyone here in the States mentioning BC nor had UA-cam ever recommended him until just recently. I love his style of comedy. He's up there with George Carlin in my book.
He got one in 2017 and became Sir William Connolly CBE
You’ve found him now 🥰
@@tncorgi92 Strange as Billy was poular in the US. George Carlin was scripted within an inch of his life, whereas Billy 's act was improvised.
I've heard this story so many times, but it always has me howling with laughter. All the best, Billy.
So you're not in any way deformed then?
@@marthacunningham2028 I'm very much deformed and it makes me laugh because I have a sense of humour. Maybe you should have my spoon and fork off!

@Christopher Wallbank I haven't seen Billy live but Kevin almost made me die laughing in Bournemouth. I thought I would choke to death for a while for lack of oxygen!
The first time we went to see Billy in Sydney, he went overtime so long that our car got locked into the car park. The next time he kept saying that he had to wind up because people had gotten lock out of their car last time. He of course carried on anyway. Luckily we had planned ahead and parked in an all night station this time. He is the funniest man alive! We love you Billy.

I must have watched this video 20 times and still laugh my arse off at it. It is my 'go-to clip when I need a proper giggle. Bless Sir Big Yin - long may he reign!!
I just love when Billy starts laughing at what he's hearing himself saying. :D
That really really made me laugh, i tried to read it back to my wife but I completely lost it, my sides were aching so much, tears streaming down my face I couldn't even see the page, I could visualise the whole thing, So so funny....Thank you

God I love you Billy, the way you tell stories has always been a highlight of your shows
For me the humour has always been the highlight of his shows.
The most funniest and most recognizable comedian. An adsolute legend. It was a tradition in our house back in the day of VHS at Christmas we'd all gather around and watch and cry with laughter the latest offering from Billy. The memories.🤣👍🏻😂👍🏻😁👍🏻
The big slipper
We were the same, always watched it at Christmas, can still remember my gran being upset at the swearing 😅
As he said, please be true. He still has (in my opinion) the funniest ever stand up routine with "An Audience With Billy Connolly" from about 1983/4. The one with The Archers as a new National Anthem for the Olympic team. Pure genius, I have the dvd and cry with laughter every time I watch it.
Me too!
With his big slipper 🤣
The incontinence pants.... One of the funniest things I've ever seen 😂😂😂😂
Currently reading his autobiography. It reads as if he's actually talking. This man is a legend. He's a genius and definitely windswept and interesting
I am reading that book now. And it does read as if he is actually talking. I don't know how many times I have laughed out loud whilst reading. One time I had to put the book down as I was worried I was going to drop it and lose my place from laughing so hard.

Except when his sister died. He stopped being funny then.
I cannot believe the sheer number of people in these comments, complaining about Billy being offensive.
What is the problem here exactly? The world has gone soft.
Billy wasn't offensive. Some people on here certainly were.
Biggest regret in my life when I look back, is never seeing him live! I've watched him since a kid, grown up on him, watched everything he has done! He is my absolute favorite person in the world! X
Billy is an hysterically funny man. I really love when he and Craig Ferguson get going together and tell stories.
Ahhhh...a fellow hobo of the chicken nuggets order. Balls to you sire.
I'm so old I remember when Craig Ferguson was Bing Hitler!

Always loved Billy. I remember loads of his material and the way he delivered it. The poor family with coats on the bed.

My sis agreed and Mum thought she was safe until a dwarf woman went on the bus and my sister pointed at her and with a clear voice said aloud: “We can talk about her later when we get home!”
The sh*t kids say!😂 Poor Mum!
Lol!!! So funny, I can imagine that

Oh thank you Billy, I needed that. You're still my favourite comedian of all time. Bless ya mate.
I had a wee laugh out loud to this for three minutes. Billy's humour and wit dwarfs many of the so-called funny men that plague us today.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
He nearly lost it at the end and who can blame him! Utterly brilliant 👏🏻
@Alanoffer. Unfortunately that time has already arrived, comedians in the UK are running scared thanks to the politically correct mob. Though don't listen to me, I'm old.
I have watched this probably five times in the last 18 hours, and enjoyed it each time.
It's interesting that one feels like most comedians shy away from telling stories, instead making it sound like everything really happened to them. But Billy often talks about stories, and doesn't seem to make such a strong distinction between life and storytelling, like the latter is simply a natural part of life. Great guy, great storyteller.
