What most people don't know is how dedicated to his friends Robin was. He paid ALL Christopher Reeve's medical bills. And his last phone call was to Billy Connolly to say "goodbye". If you believe in heaven, after all the laughter and joy Robin brought to the world, I'm sure Robin is there.

Trouble is we did all love him, he just didn't know............ I honestly don't think he truly realised, despite it being blatantly obvious by audience reaction when he was on stage/doing interviews, he always seemed surprised by the demonstrations of affection towards him. I also believe that he saw a very bleak dependent future for himself, and simply could not bare the idea of not being to do what he does best - make people laugh. I truly believe in his depressed state he could not bare the thought of his wife and family ending up his carers............................
hi Patrick. thanks for the comment. I was there also and was gonna say the same thing. I think he was on for 30 mins or so? When I watched it on tv the next week I realised they'd edited a lot out to make it fit into the show ! I also recall we weren't told who the guests were. ANyone remember who the other 2 were ?

It wasn't a matter of easing his pain. He had Lewy Body Dementia misdiagnosed in the media (not sure about his actual doctors) as Parkinsons. He left on his own terms which was way better than any other result from that illness.
Fantastic. What a great interview. Clive let Robin be Robin and sat back and enjoyed the show that is Robin Williams. What a massive loss but a huge contribution to other peoples happiness. Love RW. X Gone but far from forgotten. Great comedian but an even finer actor.

I actually did have the opportunity of meeting Robin in 1981. We were on a business trip and it was the last night and so we were doing what all over promoted 22-year-olds do we were hitting the clubs and getting loaded. And we were in the comedy club, and he came out Walked right off the stage and into the audience and started going to the table as he chose and making comments and he got to our table and he asked me where I was from and I said Joliet Illinois to which he replied, not quite the end of the world, but you can see it from there. To this day and I am 66 years old. There is not a time when anyone in our family is asked where we’re from that we don’t reply Joliet Illinois not quite the end of the world but you can see it from there. It was one of the best nights of my life. it broke my heart when he died. It was just a year after I lost my dad and at that point I don’t think I ever felt so alone.
*Wasn't he just plain marvelous and delightful to watch ? stream of consciousness at its best. ... always a clown. rest in peace, weary warrior. rest in peace.*

I'm just always hoping that his then wife took that kind of joking in stride and didn't ever become miffed everytime he made jokes to random women in the audience...I mean...after a while it might get to you. Other than THAT...the man was sheer genius...and was loved by ALL.
You know I never had a dirty mind until I started to watch Robin Williams interviews and stand up performances. I imagine him up there pointing at me and saying "Haha I converted a poor kid!"
@ Mark O'Sullivan I first saw this on the above date when I was 13. It was my little friend's 6th birthday that day too. I had been waiting in anticipation for this show on BBC1. This particular episode! And I wasn't disappointed! I had recorded this on my video recorder that time, but due to circumstances beyond my control, the recording (& a lot of my recordings) was given to various charity shops. Boy, was I unhappy about that! But I am soooo happy that at least someone out there decided to put this up. Thank you very much for putting this up, I have been looking for this episode for YEARS on UA-cam, hoping that someone, a fan, would've put it on.And at last, it is here! Thanks for sharing this.Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!! :-D
Just like a massive star in our Universe. He burned through his Comedy fuel at a very fast rate and left us way too soon and wanting so much more. But am grateful for all the body of work that's he's left behind. Much of it on UA-cam and other video mediums for me and others to enjoy his comedy gifts forever. RIP
Wow 😂 only discovering this Robin video now and it’s the best one yet i’am in tears here. And thing is I used to watch Clive show and more than likely watched this when I a kid, Guarantee I never laughed this much. What a genius Robin was.
Their will never be another actor like this guy. He was always so full of life, loved making people laugh and he was incredibly soft spoken. Smile my boy it's sunrise Robin Williams 1951-2014
This, comedically, is Robin in his element. His stand up routines were great in a different way, but Robin as a talk show guest was unequaled. This appearance is among his best.

That goes for everyone who tried to 'interview' Robin
No.
I'm glad that we had that guy as long as we did. But still miss him terribly. Tears
Robin, you were SO wonderful! I miss you...
Not "I"...we all miss him. We need him in our current situation.
Pussy! I love you!
😥 yes. Will miss him too.
Every time I see Robin Williams he makes me smile. I miss him. He is so talented and thinks so fast. Way ahead of his time and highly intelligent. God Bless him.
Improvisation was his first language.😂
My forever favorite.🥰🙋♀️✨
Miss you, Robin.
No one in the world like you.
As most comments have said. What a guy! An absolute genius. Made me cry with laughter. Thank you for the upload.
Thank you for this. R.I.P Robin, you will never be forgotten
This is one of the funniest guest show appearances ever!!!
yes I watch this one over and over
*Wasn't he just plain marvelous and delightful to watch ? stream of consciousness at its best. ... always a clown. rest in peace, weary warrior. rest in peace.*
Len Hummel , such lovely words about Robin
@@eilsmile8732 I know seriously THAT made me cry.
Well spoken. Robin was one of a kind.
He is still the funniest man on the planet. Everytime I go online I do a search for him. Think I've seen the most of Mr. Williams but once in a while I get to see something new. RIP Dear Captain...
My absolute favorite world wide, Robin Williams...😜 Love you Robin...
Love finding old clips I haven't seen. Beyond awesome
if ever we are all like him...perhaps, the world would cracked up with an enormous laughter forever
Huge celebrity...so down to earth, incredibly funny and quick witted!
RIP ROBIN, I hope that you have found the peace you were searching for...❤
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,...
I love how Clive just couldn't keep up with Robin throughout the entire interview, but then right at the end, throws out the perfect one liner. Robin truly brought it out of people. I wish we could get more.
One of the best in my humble opinion ...
Greetings from the Netherlands.
his brain is just working at an unreal rate the way he's able to think of a joke that quick with whatever topic gets brought up
He was The Best ! He'd Make You Cry Laughing ! I'll Miss Him, As Will You !
WHAT A FN FUNNY GUY, HE CAN CHANGE MY FAIR MOOD IN A MINUTE & MAKE ME HAPPY AGAIN ! I WILL MISS HIM FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART ! R.I.P. ROBIN, YOU MADE US ALL VERY, VERY FANS , HAPPY !!!!!!!
"As a doctor you know I can help you, I can numb those. nom nom nom nom"
Couldn't stop laughing
why did she not ask her question, though? was she flustered?
@@brainsareus She said she forgot what she wanted to ask.
I'm just always hoping that his then wife took that kind of joking in stride and didn't ever become miffed everytime he made jokes to random women in the audience...I mean...after a while it might get to you. Other than THAT...the man was sheer genius...and was loved by ALL.
...she was so embarrassed she forgot her question oh I love it
@@brainsareus yup
You know I never had a dirty mind until I started to watch Robin Williams interviews and stand up performances. I imagine him up there pointing at me and saying "Haha I converted a poor kid!"
This was one of my favorite talk show appearances by Robin Williams! Some of his best comedy!
GENIUS. LEGEND. ONE OF THE NICEST HUMAN BIENGS TO WALK THIS PLANET ❤️ RIP MY FRIEND AND THANK YOU. YOU ARE SORELY MISSED.
God. Robin Williams was such a brilliant man. What a gift! RIP.
He was and always be a legend of the highest order
His quickness of mind was something to behold.
Robin Williams ft.Clive Anderson
Just sit back and enjoy Robins creative mind. R.I.P.🌹🌹
As a host all they have to do is say hello Robin and shut up.
You mean "Hello Wobbin"?
OneAnd OnlyPoop “Wobbin, Wobbin, Wobbin!
"Omg, is Elmer Fudd here?" 😂👏🏻
We have lost a true genius. :/
God forbid the host would try to contain him.
Their will never be another actor like this guy. He was always so full of life, loved making people laugh and he was incredibly soft spoken.
Smile my boy it's sunrise
Robin Williams
1951-2014
This, comedically, is Robin in his element. His stand up routines were great in a different way, but Robin as a talk show guest was unequaled. This appearance is among his best.
