And Tekken 6 Scenario Mode was more Story Driven as opposed to how it used to be just wanted to clear that up

Truer words have never been said. When you look back to some of the fighting games that came out in the 2000s like Tekken 4-5-6, Soul Calibur 2 & 3, Virtua Fighter 3 & 4, and Dead or Alive 2-4, and King of Fighters 2006 (gameplay might've been a bit clunky but that game had a crap ton of single player modes) to name a few, it's crazy how much single player content they put into those games and it's no wonder it kept many of us fans busy and content. But then in the 2010s is when companies started cutting corners and it's a lackluster experience ever since.
Man the 2000s was just peak gaming time in general Tekken, Soul Calibur, Def Jam Games, Virtual Fighter, Marvel Vs Capcm, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc we had so much to do in games back then before videos game expensive to make and now fighting games be costing more now in total by the time the game ends. PS2/PS3/Xbox 360 was def my fav era of gaming if you ask me
@@Jaitiy I think it's because a lot of these gaming companies try so hard to make the games look amazing in graphics that they pour more of the budget into the presentation than they do the content itself and they're hoping that the online play experience will be enough. In the 6th generation of the Playstation (PS2) they were able to find that perfect balance where the graphics did advance form the PS1 and once companies got a handle of the technology, they were able to make games that had a nice look to them but weren't so financially draining (at least compared to now) and I think this is why they were able to put as much content as they did in those older games. Some people like to look back and laugh at how "bad" the graphics were on the PS2 but I'd have to disagree on that because I still really do like the aesthetic of the PS2 graphics, it was a perfect blend of advancement but still looking like a video game and if going back to that would mean that games would have more contentagain, I'd choose that in a heartbeat lol.
Oh most def I say gameplay wise Tekken 8 is in the best state its ever been right now. And thanks I'm just very passionate Tekken fan who wants to see this game strive and I felt everything I talked about can be implemented for veterans and newcomers alike.

T8's gameplay is about as appealing to me as a pool of dog vomit! Chip damage isn't Tekken. Forced 50/50s aren't Tekken. Having to fight in a telephone box at all times isn't Tekken. More to the point, though, the cumulative effect of these things is to offer the antithesis of what I want out of a fighting game. If I wanted to play an uber-aggressive, in-the-pocket fighting game, I'd play bloody Guilty Gear Strive or Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown!
I missed Tekken Tag 2, need to try it because it might become my favorite Tekken. Imo Tekken 7 was the best Tekken despite lack of content and flaws, but again didn't try TT2.
My biggest problems with this game are : Quick Matches & Player Matches not having infinite rematches Ranked point system not making sense at higher ranks(Why am I losing more points than I gain???) Friend system SUCKS Replay feature being useless against DLC characters(Kinda doubt they are going to change it) My characters not being in the game(Anna, Miguel, A.Ogre)
Customizations in T8 is so lackluster, I was even disappointed at T7 for that but at least they would give items for free. T6 and TTT2 were peak for that, T5 was also really nice. I also got triggered due to the connection issues, I was facing a Jin, he wasn't bad but I could beat him but the rollback frames and lags made me drop combos, sometimes I pressed buttons and they don't respond, basically it was unplayable for me. He beats me and proceed to teabag and spam mental alertness almost each round... I still love the game but yeah, it's kind of bitter sweet at times
I hope Harada somehow watches this lol. I've been having the exact same problems. Every day I play T8, and I despise how trash the UX is. Even the basic UX principles were ignored. I'm an intermediate-level developer, and even I know this stuff when developing applications. A few examples that weren't in the video: When you challenge someone in the lounge by sitting at the arcade cabinet, the game takes you through the normal matchmaking process just to play against someone you literally challenged. The other person is the only one in the queue! Why not make it like player sessions where you just start the match?! When searching for player sessions and joining one to play with randoms, sometimes you get kicked out or leave the session, and you end up on the main menu instead of going back to the search page. You have to search again. Feel free to add more in the replies.

@@Jake-nh5th the game can be won with 2 numbers because heat and rage can be set to the bumpers. Someone who manages to hit you with both leaves a single poke left of health. In high level play, this is still an issue bud. Has nothing to do with how good you are, you can still be punished, and punished by someone not as good as you too
Lack of team battle is a crime. Tekken Force would be cool too with co-op, just to give the game some content (maybe a nice chill co-op experience in contrast to the main mode.) I get that T7 didn't have an unlimited budget but these things were staples in the game to give it a bit of variety. Just Tekken 5 arcade mode was so cool- you had mini-rivals, rivals with some dialogue and a lot of these details are just gone leading to a blander, more vanilla experience. Don't get me wrong the actual 1 v 1 is the best it's ever been in my opinion but having one mode isn't enough. At least they brought back Tekken ball. The one mode is polished in itself but it doesn't feel like a complete game and I think there's a reason older Tekkens had team battle, tekken force etc. to give a bit of variety.
It’s really what I enjoyed about Tekken over other fighters when I was younger is that the game has variety now it’s just meh. I miss Team Battle & Tekken Force Co-Op would be sick reminds of Tekken 6 Scenario campaign. And Tekken 5 scenes were cool as hell just making this video it really makes me sad looking what Tekken has become ever since Tekken 7 since Tekken Tag 2 didn’t sell good wise.
Tekken has come a long way since Tekken 3? No. The people who make graphic cards, motherboards, game engines, THEY have come a long way. Tekken has done virtually zero growing, it's still an arcaic arcade experince.
I can see where you are coming from a bit but I dont fully agree though. Now I will say this game def feels like a beta but playing this Tekken game gameplay wise compared to previous ones is a night and day difference and each Tekken add something new
Why would you ever want the online tournament mode? If the host loses they can quit the tournament which happened 99% of the time. I never finished the online tournament because the hosts would always leave. I hosted a tournament two times and people left because they lost. I don't know why you would say this or what your experiences but I'm glad they don't have the tournament mode because it never gets finished, ever...
I played it a lot with my homies and homegirls and played the game a lot in Tekken 7 cuz we were having the time of our lives I never joined a random one so I didnt experience the bad side of it.
The worst thing to me about the DLC is that it's just Tekken 7 DLC all over again so my hype around these characters are at the very bottom considering we just bought them towards the end of the last game. I can't fake hype Lidia or Seaside Resort I'm sorry
It was def more annoying at release since you couldn't sidestep it's a less oppressive than before but for characters like Drag & Nina they still going crazy
They did have that cool Tekken force esque thing in Tekken 6 if I remember it right, it even had random drops that gave you RPG stat buffs on customized clothes which was really fun to replay for
Yeah that was Scenario Campagin main even though they play similiar that was more story focused I feel as opposed to a just beat em up. ANd the online co-op had me DYING playing with friends on there they need to bring something like it back.
Off this one video brobro I gotta SUB. You spoke NOTHING but hard-core facts about T8. I'm a Jun main TKing and when I tell you the customization system is SSA, ranked is SSA, and the social system is absolute SSA. I also would love the option to view my replays at the post menus. Because I love to lab as well and to see what I could've done in certain situations to beat certain moves, or my opponent in general. The amount of times I've had promos denied because of someone rage quitting is mind boggling. Tbh I'd be higher than Tekken King if it wasn't for the rage quitters that's how often it happens.
Love the Itachi pfp fav Naruto character and I just hope things get added sooner rather than later it's the only thing I hope for. And I love the replays as a post menu option that would be a dope idea
@@Jaitiyand the thing is it's not some super complicated thing they'd have to implement. Even if it wasn't built in to wear you could watch the replay immediately at least having an option for "View Replay" and it taking you directly to the replay within the actual replay menu itself. And if you idle too long then you'd have to use the buttons to go back the online modes.
Tekken hub: No one does that There is little fun in there, when you buy Tekken you don’t go to the hub, this is no SF6 where you can make your own very special avatar and fight with that avatar, there is 0 purpose for pointless hubs. Companies should stop developing hubs because it’s a waste of resources. Replay matches: Its very simple to access them, there is little you have to do to see your replays, pretty much 3 clicks You could shorten it to 1 click but then again you don’t save time you just get there 3seconds faster It’s not like creating player lobbies and you want to change something so you have to leave and create a new one, you get into replays without any issues Ghost battles: Probably the best thing since wrestling. It takes a shit ton of time to set up a ghost to be of any value to others but eventually you can create a ghost who will help other people get better. The idea is fresh and good, but for now it’s quite an underwhelming feature because of how hard it is to train a ghost

@@Jaitiy The Ghost should be implemented feature in casual matches, but then it would be a strain on the device and probably hell of strain on the connection (to which tekken 8 has pristine connection, no complains there) But without that i took a Tekken Emperor Asuka Ghost.... and it was spamming the same string over and over again... But its good that the idea is here, this way in the future they can develop a better way of creating a ghost so we can all use it and get actually better. For now lets all be happy the replay tips are here, this thing is so simple but a huge help for those who want to spend time on it
What I hate is how characters from T7 ain’t in 8 like Lei wulong,Julia,Lucky,Anna,Marduk,Miguel,Master raven,armor king,ganryu,fuhkumram,Josie,kararina,Kunimitsu and akuma all those characters are pretty cool and for them to not be added is crazy and what’s sad is the characters that were DLC is gonna be DLC again and Customization is pretty trash it would be nice if they kept updating the game and adding stuff instead of making us pay for every damn thing we had in previous games like if they added anime characters outfits in the game then yeah paying for that is cool and more hairstyles is needed especially long hair.
Okay, I've heard you out. Excellent points and nothing I can really argue against, haha. I have also returned to the game after months of hiatus, except... I LOVE the game! A newfound/ increased love. Why? Well, I have started using a LAN cable, and it just makes the online battles go smoother (and with less bitching). No one can blame things on WiFi anymore just because they can see the icon (even if the WiFi is good) :) If I didn't start using this, Tekken 8 (a game I pre-ordered and got day one) would be catching dust and decaying in a cupboard somewhere lol. Yep, it's that simple. A cable reinvigorated my interest and bother with this game 🤷🏾♂️ I am a Garyu with Bryan - the highest rank I have ever been in Tekken history. But like you, I don't care too much about my rank. So I just meet and bump into many purple ranks on Quick Match and have a whale of a time trying to hold up against them. Since then, my PS inbox has been flowing with plenty of GGs messages, compliments, and also banter at times 🤣 PS: I also love TTT2, and that game is harder than this. But on T8, faster load times, better performance, and Cross-Platform play (+ ethernet, which I didn't use back then)... Yeah, Tekken 8 is the shit for me right now 👌🏾

Yeah Tekken was my all time favourite franchise from 2007 until Tekken 8 came out. I didn't enjoy it on day one, or whenever I came back to it, and I'm not interested in playing whenever games come after.
I never agreed with the whole “you need to finish the set” thing. Life happens outside of the game. I also paid full price for the game. I don’t owe anybody a rematch. However, I understand having consequences for plugging. But if I’m playing ranked and I have to hop off the game right after the first match, I shouldn’t have to be forced to play another match then lose points if I don’t rematch them. That never made sense to me. I’m just glad that you’re not forced to do that in the game. It just always baffles me how people could say that as if they themselves never had to stop playing ranked for a bit after the first match, because of life. Then were able to hop back on shortly after.

I know life happens sometimes but if something happens in your life all the time consistently or you type to person to always one and done or rage quit consistently you shouldn’t be playing ranked. Thank you for bringing up customization and QoL issues. Too many focus on balance alone and so much of the unique aspects of Tekken have and is being abandoned and barely anyone brings attention to them. Edit. When it comes to customization I’m down to buy it or use tekken coins earned via the battle pass. But the content has to be good and not reused assets from T7 that were free. Also them locking dlc characters in practice mode has me really concerned about online practice mode coming in the fall. The precedent they’ve set makes me think we won’t be able to use it fully without paying for the characters. Which I feel is ethically wrong.
I hop with some updates along the way the game gets better for everyone and Tekken Tag 3 would be cool to me personally but I know people HATED Tekken Tag 2 so we will see

Good video, Tekken has been my favourite fighting game since T3, I own every single instance in the franchise, I´ve just uninstalled the game for good. Toxic and annoying online xperience, with lots of pluggers, crap customizations, microtransactions and NOW, Heihachi is back and you HAVE TO PAY FOR HIM. Ayyy we both have the same fav Tekken love to see it. And I was watching Evo when Heihachi got announced and I'm not surprised he's back in the slighest since even the story for Tekken 7 I said he would come back. I'm just happy the leaks weren't true but having him back is kinda whateva to me honestly the whole DLC for season 1 is YUCK!
Controversial opinion (sorry): I think we need a remastered Tekken 3 that doesn't have Harada behind it.... This series need to start again at the moment when everything started to fall apart. Start again. Better. There is no other rescue.

They would change their Appearance like the Tekken Bloodline anime. Tekken tag Tournament actually was like a Updated and Faithful version of Tekken 3 with Tag and Tekken 2 Characters
The customization complaints are warranted but you gotta look into it. Harada has already addressed this. It costs just as much to make a character as it does to make their customization. The amount of time it takes to put customization on a 3-D model already a lot and then you have to take it into consideration that Tekken rebuilt every character from the ground up

First Tekken I ever play online or against other than just my uncle/cousins/brother. Loving it, even though I get salty when I lose. Perks of picking Steve as a beginner.
You forgot : unfair and dumb point system. You lose against stronger players ? -> more points lost. You lose more points losing that earning points winning. It's just not engaging at all to play this game ranked and makes the game more of a gigantic grind than every other fgs. If I beat someone 3 times my level, then I should gain more points and lose less points If I dare challenging someone better than me. That would be pure logic.

Only thing I will give Fornite is at least the game is free to play and battle pass there is actually worth it at times fighting game battle passes have never been good from my experience.

Man T8 really improved the customization with the accessory slots... Unfortunately there's only 2 and you really can't move the items around much. Also can't make them very big. Would love more slots, items, more like SC6 basically. Also would be great if they'd bring back the wack shit like the chinese armor and just more variety than T-shirts in general And another thing, WHY DO THEY NOT HAVE THAT ONE SONG FROM THE FINAL BOSS FIGHT IN THE JUKEBOX? You know i like the video because it's NOT: - A rant from someone who plays other title/genre and makes a rant video to annoy that title players or to stroke their ego because they want attention - Saw those too - A rant from someone who believes the game ended with 1/2/3/TAG/4/5/whatever and the series should either finish with that or just make a carbon copy of one and with the remaining titles we need to wipe people memories and destroy every copy of the later games xD - a rant from someone who lost on online so many times and wants characters to be deleted becuase they can't learn how to beat them You just want the game to improve on those fields.
Yeah cuz to be real complaining doesn't really do anything honestly sure we all get frustrated playing online at times but if I'm struggling against a character I will just lab it out in practice mode or the replays. And as someone who been playing the series forever I want to see this game do HELLA WELL especially considering I didn't like Tekken 7 at all.

I think T8 is good but the thing I don't like anout is it's story. Harada doesn't commit enough to his concepts so they end up falling flat. There's a lot of characters who were supposed to be important but get dramatically underutilized, best example being Steve, Paul, and Asuka and worst case being Lidia, Jun, and Reina. Speaking OF, Reina now serves now purpose to ge in the story since Heihachi is just alive anyway which makes T7 meaningless.
I know hella people who didn't like the story even though I vibed with myself personally speaking. But hella characters were kinda like..... why were you there Asuka, Shaheen, Steve, & Jun still on the mysterious streak. And the Reina one hurts a lot cuz I even told people after Tekken 7 Heihachi is coming back so now its like sighhhh.
- after the update that brought in Lidia, replays before that update are no longer available. i had a bunch of replays since the day i bought it, and i wanted to do something where i wanted to compare how i played when i started and now, but those replays are useless, unless i was able to go back an update. - i agree with the in game money being used to buy stuff in the shop instead of it either being just whatever they shove out that's for free, or demand that you pay for. like there's some nostalgic costumes for Tekken fans available, but they have to purchase a coin bundle. even with the update of them adding in a new bundle that is less, and even with this new pass putting in coins for people to spend, it's still predatory due to the player needing to either buy the bundles twice, or once and spending more than they should feel like they need to. and as for the pass, free players only get 100, so for everyone who doesn't wanna buy into this, hope you enjoy waiting for months on end till you save enough for 1 costume. -i do like the idea of just being able to ask to fight people wherever and it going through instead of simply relying on in-game arcade systems or going out of your way to create a room for people to join. the game already lets you jump into fighting through just searching for whoever in quick match or ranked, this really wouldn't be too much of an issue. -the customization does just fucking sucks in this. it's at a point now where i have to look on sites to find what else people have made to put in the game, and so much of what fans have done looks so much better than what we have. hell, DLC wise, they could of done what SoulCalibur V did and throw in costumes that are thematic, or even have a tie to other fighting games like Street Fighter. but no, instead Bandai wants to double down with this, and even come at people who are modding the game and not explain why they did. really well done vid, as someone who's enjoyed playing this series since Tag 1 and seeing it evolve, this hits alot of the right places, and even brought to light stuff i wasn't even aware of. keep it up.
The game modes are easy too explain. Not nearly enough people liked those modes enough than we think. Harada explains all the time why he does and doesnt implent certain things. And alot boils down too not enough people care enough too waste time putting work in too develop it. Kinda like characters go ino comment sections youd think certain characters are popular but harada knowing the back end knows those characters arent picked enough too warrant putting them in the game off rip. Same logic has too apply too modes. Even though those modes have fans they arent enough too warrant putting them in the game when you can use that time and energy into characters people play/new characters and modes people actually play
I know Harada be tweeting a lot of Twitter but if you can send me the exact link for that would be cool since ion really be on Twitter like I used too. The Character kinda doesnt make sense though considering The Bears, Shaheen, came in the game and they were rarely played in 7. And the bears always had a lower playbase so I def gotta see his answer to that.

Harada lies. Tekken 7 loading times was probably the real reason Team battle was missing in that game. I’m hopeful it will return in 8. More characters people use the more costumes Namco can sell
The only thing I disagree with is being forced to run a set vs someone you have no interest in playing whether it be their character or play style or maybe you simply have to go use the bathroom. You shouldn’t be locked into a set. But death battles should return
Im so glad you brought up the point of saying that its scummy that you are forced to buy a character you dont really care about just to practice with them, cause i was thinking that exact same thing. And admittedly its the reason i stopped playing T7. The obvious fair route would be you can lab against the character and use them practice, but if you wanna play online and other offline modes with them, thats when you'll have to buy them. But will they do that? Hell no lol. That's like going to buy car, but they dont let you test drive it until after you bought it 😂

@@Jaitiy in a more detailed explanation, the game now also tries to pair you up with people who have very similar prowess to you which usually increases the wait time between matches. If you're playing a sub character (for example, a mighty ruler when your main is Fujin), the game will usually exclusively pair you with Fujins and above. It also tends to ruin player matches completely, had a couple GoDs there when trying to learn a new character in Destroyer.

I love tekken 8 even with its flaws. But the ONE THING that grinds my gears more than the battle pass is the DLC CHARACTER THAT WE ALREADY HAD IN TEKKEN 7 AND 6 Stop making us pay for characters we already had in previous games.

It does so much right but everything you mentioned makes the game so much worse than it needs to be. I also wish it would save the modes you play the most. I only ever play ranked, quick, or character customization but I have to navigate over to like 3 screens every time. I feel liked ranked is probably the most popular mode, so make it the first thing on the screen.
The aggression in this game is just too much. Heat by itself is fine but I can’t stand the constant rage art threat every round. Then on top of that chip damage, heat smash, blah blah
Something about the customization in Tekken 8 I hate is the women's clothing. Compared to the men, the women's options are kinda ass. Most of them are schoolgirl attire or vintage blouses. Even though there are some good options, Tekken 7 was much better with its customization especially for the female characters.
3:50 what are you on about? It's in restart settings. And you can just use the savestate feature to reproduce anything anyway so it's not like you need it.

Waiting to lab a character that ppl got early because they dropped 40 or 80 bucks is nuts cuz the ones that didn’t are at a disadvantage…unless you have friends that have said DLC/Deluxe to help learn the matchup or you blocked every move of said character and check which move are minus or not in the replay. With Eddy the deluxe owners had free points on ranked for 3 days straight until global release. Some didn’t even need to know their frame punishes even.
This is just my personal opinion on the online aspects of tekken 8. If the tekken project is saving us, pay 70+ dollars on a game, they should make online free. Especially for those of us who can't afford playstation plus. The sole purpose for battle passes to exist is for free games like brawlhalla to make money. This game?? Definitely doesn't need the money for online to be free
The problem I have with Tekken is the move list is bloated. For the most part you can hold forward and mash, any character that has a unique macro probably won't even use it because it's punishable and does no damage
Harada said himself that he regrets having cosmetics in Tekken. Sounds like he wants to phase them out if we get more Tekken games. He talked about how there were battle passes because fighting games are so expensive to make now. Maybe that's why previously existing outfits now cost $$$. But things cost money to make =/ and Bamco has lots of it. Companies are just greedy. I also didn't like how PC optimization was handled in Tekken 8. Harada again with his amazing takes said on twitter, if you care about specs, play Tekken 8 on console. Because PC players who have HIGHER specs then a ps5 have to LOWER their specs quite a bit, especially for online.
I def see the game costing more money to make statement since seeing how much Read Dead Redemption & Marvel's Spider-Man 2 cost was INSANE! But at the same time its weird having so many things backwards about this game considering this Tekken had the most budget put into it. And if that PC optimization statement is true I dont know how to feel about it like wouldn't you want to make more consumers happy?
Not necessarily a fan of tekken, but I can tell you for sure that us street fighter fans have a lot of the same issues. It's so annoying when someone does a 1 and done because they know they're a 1 trick pony.
Oh I def remember playign Street Fighter 6 as well and going through that as well. But at least in that game for Casual matches you were able to keep rematching & the netcode is WAY BETTER so it didnt really bother me that much compared to Tekken 8 honestly.

Update 2: Because I seen a lot of comments about it yes I know about the Scenario Campaign From Tekken 6 the reason I didnt use that as a example is because In Tekken 3 & 4 it was a completely separate mode that you can actually choose. And Tekken 6 Scenario Mode was more Story Driven as opposed to how it used to be just wanted to clear that up

When you look back to some of the fighting games that came out in the 2000s like Tekken 4-5-6, Soul Calibur 2 & 3, Virtua Fighter 3 & 4, and Dead or Alive 2-4, and King of Fighters 2006 (gameplay might've been a bit clunky but that game had a crap ton of single player modes) to name a few, it's crazy how much single player content they put into those games and it's no wonder it kept many of us fans busy and content. But then in the 2010s is when companies started cutting corners and it's a lackluster experience ever since.

@@Jaitiy I think it's because a lot of these gaming companies try so hard to make the games look amazing in graphics that they pour more of the budget into the presentation than they do the content itself and they're hoping that the online play experience will be enough. In the 6th generation of the Playstation (PS2) they were able to find that perfect balance where the graphics did advance form the PS1 and once companies got a handle of the technology, they were able to make games that had a nice look to them but weren't so financially draining (at least compared to now) and I think this is why they were able to put as much content as they did in those older games.
Some people like to look back and laugh at how "bad" the graphics were on the PS2 but I'd have to disagree on that because I still really do like the aesthetic of the PS2 graphics, it was a perfect blend of advancement but still looking like a video game and if going back to that would mean that games would have more contentagain, I'd choose that in a heartbeat lol.

T8's gameplay is about as appealing to me as a pool of dog vomit! Chip damage isn't Tekken. Forced 50/50s aren't Tekken. Having to fight in a telephone box at all times isn't Tekken. More to the point, though, the cumulative effect of these things is to offer the antithesis of what I want out of a fighting game. If I wanted to play an uber-aggressive, in-the-pocket fighting game, I'd play bloody Guilty Gear Strive or Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown!

Customizations in T8 is so lackluster, I was even disappointed at T7 for that but at least they would give items for free. T6 and TTT2 were peak for that, T5 was also really nice.
I also got triggered due to the connection issues, I was facing a Jin, he wasn't bad but I could beat him but the rollback frames and lags made me drop combos, sometimes I pressed buttons and they don't respond, basically it was unplayable for me. He beats me and proceed to teabag and spam mental alertness almost each round... I still love the game but yeah, it's kind of bitter sweet at times

I hope Harada somehow watches this lol. I've been having the exact same problems. Every day I play T8, and I despise how trash the UX is. Even the basic UX principles were ignored. I'm an intermediate-level developer, and even I know this stuff when developing applications.
A few examples that weren't in the video:
When you challenge someone in the lounge by sitting at the arcade cabinet, the game takes you through the normal matchmaking process just to play against someone you literally challenged. The other person is the only one in the queue! Why not make it like player sessions where you just start the match?!
When searching for player sessions and joining one to play with randoms, sometimes you get kicked out or leave the session, and you end up on the main menu instead of going back to the search page. You have to search again.

In high level play, this is still an issue bud. Has nothing to do with how good you are, you can still be punished, and punished by someone not as good as you too
Lack of team battle is a crime. Tekken Force would be cool too with co-op, just to give the game some content (maybe a nice chill co-op experience in contrast to the main mode.) I get that T7 didn't have an unlimited budget but these things were staples in the game to give it a bit of variety. Just Tekken 5 arcade mode was so cool- you had mini-rivals, rivals with some dialogue and a lot of these details are just gone leading to a blander, more vanilla experience. Don't get me wrong the actual 1 v 1 is the best it's ever been in my opinion but having one mode isn't enough. At least they brought back Tekken ball. The one mode is polished in itself but it doesn't feel like a complete game and I think there's a reason older Tekkens had team battle, tekken force etc. to give a bit of variety.
It’s really what I enjoyed about Tekken over other fighters when I was younger is that the game has variety now it’s just meh. I miss Team Battle & Tekken Force Co-Op would be sick reminds of Tekken 6 Scenario campaign. And Tekken 5 scenes were cool as hell just making this video it really makes me sad looking what Tekken has become ever since Tekken 7 since Tekken Tag 2 didn’t sell good wise.
Tekken has come a long way since Tekken 3? No. The people who make graphic cards, motherboards, game engines, THEY have come a long way. Tekken has done virtually zero growing, it's still an arcaic arcade experince.

Why would you ever want the online tournament mode? If the host loses they can quit the tournament which happened 99% of the time. I never finished the online tournament because the hosts would always leave. I hosted a tournament two times and people left because they lost. I don't know why you would say this or what your experiences but I'm glad they don't have the tournament mode because it never gets finished, ever...
I played it a lot with my homies and homegirls and played the game a lot in Tekken 7 cuz we were having the time of our lives I never joined a random one so I didnt experience the bad side of it.
The worst thing to me about the DLC is that it's just Tekken 7 DLC all over again so my hype around these characters are at the very bottom considering we just bought them towards the end of the last game. I can't fake hype Lidia or Seaside Resort I'm sorry

The amount of times I've had promos denied because of someone rage quitting is mind boggling. Tbh I'd be higher than Tekken King if it wasn't for the rage quitters that's how often it happens.
Love the Itachi pfp fav Naruto character and I just hope things get added sooner rather than later it's the only thing I hope for. And I love the replays as a post menu option that would be a dope idea
@@Jaitiyand the thing is it's not some super complicated thing they'd have to implement. Even if it wasn't built in to wear you could watch the replay immediately at least having an option for "View Replay" and it taking you directly to the replay within the actual replay menu itself. And if you idle too long then you'd have to use the buttons to go back the online modes.

No one does that
There is little fun in there, when you buy Tekken you don’t go to the hub, this is no SF6 where you can make your own very special avatar and fight with that avatar, there is 0 purpose for pointless hubs.
Companies should stop developing hubs because it’s a waste of resources.
Replay matches:
Its very simple to access them, there is little you have to do to see your replays, pretty much 3 clicks
You could shorten it to 1 click but then again you don’t save time you just get there 3seconds faster
It’s not like creating player lobbies and you want to change something so you have to leave and create a new one, you get into replays without any issues
Ghost battles:
Probably the best thing since wrestling.
It takes a shit ton of time to set up a ghost to be of any value to others but eventually you can create a ghost who will help other people get better.
The idea is fresh and good, but for now it’s quite an underwhelming feature because of how hard it is to train a ghost

@@Jaitiy The Ghost should be implemented feature in casual matches, but then it would be a strain on the device and probably hell of strain on the connection (to which tekken 8 has pristine connection, no complains there)
But without that i took a Tekken Emperor Asuka Ghost.... and it was spamming the same string over and over again...
But its good that the idea is here, this way in the future they can develop a better way of creating a ghost so we can all use it and get actually better. For now lets all be happy the replay tips are here, this thing is so simple but a huge help for those who want to spend time on it
What I hate is how characters from T7 ain’t in 8 like Lei wulong,Julia,Lucky,Anna,Marduk,Miguel,Master raven,armor king,ganryu,fuhkumram,Josie,kararina,Kunimitsu and akuma all those characters are pretty cool and for them to not be added is crazy and what’s sad is the characters that were DLC is gonna be DLC again and Customization is pretty trash it would be nice if they kept updating the game and adding stuff instead of making us pay for every damn thing we had in previous games like if they added anime characters outfits in the game then yeah paying for that is cool and more hairstyles is needed especially long hair.

I have also returned to the game after months of hiatus, except... I LOVE the game! A newfound/ increased love.
Why? Well, I have started using a LAN cable, and it just makes the online battles go smoother (and with less bitching). No one can blame things on WiFi anymore just because they can see the icon (even if the WiFi is good) :)
If I didn't start using this, Tekken 8 (a game I pre-ordered and got day one) would be catching dust and decaying in a cupboard somewhere lol.

I am a Garyu with Bryan - the highest rank I have ever been in Tekken history. But like you, I don't care too much about my rank. So I just meet and bump into many purple ranks on Quick Match and have a whale of a time trying to hold up against them.
Since then, my PS inbox has been flowing with plenty of GGs messages, compliments, and also banter at times 🤣
PS: I also love TTT2, and that game is harder than this. But on T8, faster load times, better performance, and Cross-Platform play (+ ethernet, which I didn't use back then)... Yeah, Tekken 8 is the shit for me right now 👌🏾

Yeah Tekken was my all time favourite franchise from 2007 until Tekken 8 came out. I didn't enjoy it on day one, or whenever I came back to it, and I'm not interested in playing whenever games come after.
I never agreed with the whole “you need to finish the set” thing. Life happens outside of the game. I also paid full price for the game. I don’t owe anybody a rematch. However, I understand having consequences for plugging. But if I’m playing ranked and I have to hop off the game right after the first match, I shouldn’t have to be forced to play another match then lose points if I don’t rematch them. That never made sense to me. I’m just glad that you’re not forced to do that in the game. It just always baffles me how people could say that as if they themselves never had to stop playing ranked for a bit after the first match, because of life. Then were able to hop back on shortly after.

Thank you for bringing up customization and QoL issues. Too many focus on balance alone and so much of the unique aspects of Tekken have and is being abandoned and barely anyone brings attention to them. Edit. When it comes to customization I’m down to buy it or use tekken coins earned via the battle pass. But the content has to be good and not reused assets from T7 that were free. Also them locking dlc characters in practice mode has me really concerned about online practice mode coming in the fall. The precedent they’ve set makes me think we won’t be able to use it fully without paying for the characters. Which I feel is ethically wrong.

my problem with the game was the fight pass, there is not that many item moves, and some stages in the story not playable in the game

Harada has already addressed this. It costs just as much to make a character as it does to make their customization.
The amount of time it takes to put customization on a 3-D model already a lot and then you have to take it into consideration that Tekken rebuilt every character from the ground up
The online is so weird when it comes to what servers you play on because I'm in Europe but I've fought people in the middle east and Africa servers.

lol 'Africa 3' player here! We've always had a playerbase but not nearly as large as EU or NA, occasionally at very quiet times it'll find somebody from EU because that is our next closest server, if connection is set to 3 minimum!

You forgot : unfair and dumb point system. You lose against stronger players ? -> more points lost. You lose more points losing that earning points winning. It's just not engaging at all to play this game ranked and makes the game more of a gigantic grind than every other fgs. If I beat someone 3 times my level, then I should gain more points and lose less points If I dare challenging someone better than me. That would be pure logic.

Only thing I will give Fornite is at least the game is free to play and battle pass there is actually worth it at times fighting game battle passes have never been good from my experience.

Man T8 really improved the customization with the accessory slots... Unfortunately there's only 2 and you really can't move the items around much. Also can't make them very big. Would love more slots, items, more like SC6 basically. Also would be great if they'd bring back the wack shit like the chinese armor and just more variety than T-shirts in general
And another thing, WHY DO THEY NOT HAVE THAT ONE SONG FROM THE FINAL BOSS FIGHT IN THE JUKEBOX? They got Storm Rising pt 1/2, that one lighthearted singing part, but not the hype ass Heat Haze pt 2 soundin ass music!? Like come on man

Yeah cuz to be real complaining doesn't really do anything honestly sure we all get frustrated playing online at times but if I'm struggling against a character I will just lab it out in practice mode or the replays. And as someone who been playing the series forever I want to see this game do HELLA WELL especially considering I didn't like Tekken 7 at all.

I think T8 is good but the thing I don't like anout is it's story. Harada doesn't commit enough to his concepts so they end up falling flat. There's a lot of characters who were supposed to be important but get dramatically underutilized, best example being Steve, Paul, and Asuka and worst case being Lidia, Jun, and Reina. Speaking OF, Reina now serves now purpose to ge in the story since Heihachi is just alive anyway which makes T7 meaningless.
I know hella people who didn't like the story even though I vibed with myself personally speaking. But hella characters were kinda like..... why were you there Asuka, Shaheen, Steve, & Jun still on the mysterious streak. And the Reina one hurts a lot cuz I even told people after Tekken 7 Heihachi is coming back so now its like sighhhh.

- after the update that brought in Lidia, replays before that update are no longer available. i had a bunch of replays since the day i bought it, and i wanted to do something where i wanted to compare how i played when i started and now, but those replays are useless, unless i was able to go back an update.
- i agree with the in game money being used to buy stuff in the shop instead of it either being just whatever they shove out that's for free, or demand that you pay for. like there's some nostalgic costumes for Tekken fans available, but they have to purchase a coin bundle. even with the update of them adding in a new bundle that is less, and even with this new pass putting in coins for people to spend, it's still predatory due to the player needing to either buy the bundles twice, or once and spending more than they should feel like they need to. and as for the pass, free players only get 100, so for everyone who doesn't wanna buy into this, hope you enjoy waiting for months on end till you save enough for 1 costume.
-i do like the idea of just being able to ask to fight people wherever and it going through instead of simply relying on in-game arcade systems or going out of your way to create a room for people to join. the game already lets you jump into fighting through just searching for whoever in quick match or ranked, this really wouldn't be too much of an issue.
-the customization does just fucking sucks in this. it's at a point now where i have to look on sites to find what else people have made to put in the game, and so much of what fans have done looks so much better than what we have. hell, DLC wise, they could of done what SoulCalibur V did and throw in costumes that are thematic, or even have a tie to other fighting games like Street Fighter. but no, instead Bandai wants to double down with this, and even come at people who are modding the game and not explain why they did.
really well done vid, as someone who's enjoyed playing this series since Tag 1 and seeing it evolve, this hits alot of the right places, and even brought to light stuff i wasn't even aware of. keep it up.
My only real issue is the character custom stuff is very lacking

The game modes are easy too explain. Not nearly enough people liked those modes enough than we think. Harada explains all the time why he does and doesnt implent certain things. And alot boils down too not enough people care enough too waste time putting work in too develop it. Kinda like characters go ino comment sections youd think certain characters are popular but harada knowing the back end knows those characters arent picked enough too warrant putting them in the game off rip. Same logic has too apply too modes. Even though those modes have fans they arent enough too warrant putting them in the game when you can use that time and energy into characters people play/new characters and modes people actually play
I know Harada be tweeting a lot of Twitter but if you can send me the exact link for that would be cool since ion really be on Twitter like I used too. The Character kinda doesnt make sense though considering The Bears, Shaheen, came in the game and they were rarely played in 7. And the bears always had a lower playbase so I def gotta see his answer to that.

Harada lies. Tekken 7 loading times was probably the real reason Team battle was missing in that game. I’m hopeful it will return in 8. More characters people use the more costumes Namco can sell

The only thing I disagree with is being forced to run a set vs someone you have no interest in playing whether it be their character or play style or maybe you simply have to go use the bathroom. You shouldn’t be locked into a set. But death battles should return
Im so glad you brought up the point of saying that its scummy that you are forced to buy a character you dont really care about just to practice with them, cause i was thinking that exact same thing. And admittedly its the reason i stopped playing T7. The obvious fair route would be you can lab against the character and use them practice, but if you wanna play online and other offline modes with them, thats when you'll have to buy them. But will they do that? Hell no lol. That's like going to buy car, but they dont let you test drive it until after you bought it 😂

Loads of great points here. One thing you did miss is the new Tekken prowess based matchmaking which basically makes your account screwed if you play sub characters if your main is Fujin+

@@Jaitiy in a more detailed explanation, the game now also tries to pair you up with people who have very similar prowess to you which usually increases the wait time between matches.
If you're playing a sub character (for example, a mighty ruler when your main is Fujin), the game will usually exclusively pair you with Fujins and above. It also tends to ruin player matches completely, had a couple GoDs there when trying to learn a new character in Destroyer.
Bro compared to tekken 7 its takes years just to see the outfits and hairstyles on a character in tekken 8 character customization on the ps5 bro we in new gen why is it so slow😅😢

I love tekken 8 even with its flaws. But the ONE THING that grinds my gears more than the battle pass is the DLC CHARACTER THAT WE ALREADY HAD IN TEKKEN 7 AND 6 Stop making us pay for characters we already had in previous games.

It does so much right but everything you mentioned makes the game so much worse than it needs to be. I also wish it would save the modes you play the most. I only ever play ranked, quick, or character customization but I have to navigate over to like 3 screens every time. I feel liked ranked is probably the most popular mode, so make it the first thing on the screen.
The best part about SF6 is give you character ticket for free in their battle pass that you can try a character even go to rank for 24h

Something about the customization in Tekken 8 I hate is the women's clothing. Compared to the men, the women's options are kinda ass. Most of them are schoolgirl attire or vintage blouses. Even though there are some good options, Tekken 7 was much better with its customization especially for the female characters.

Waiting to lab a character that ppl got early because they dropped 40 or 80 bucks is nuts cuz the ones that didn’t are at a disadvantage…unless you have friends that have said DLC/Deluxe to help learn the matchup or you blocked every move of said character and check which move are minus or not in the replay.
With Eddy the deluxe owners had free points on ranked for 3 days straight until global release. Some didn’t even need to know their frame punishes even.

This is just my personal opinion on the online aspects of tekken 8. If the tekken project is saving us, pay 70+ dollars on a game, they should make online free. Especially for those of us who can't afford playstation plus. The sole purpose for battle passes to exist is for free games like brawlhalla to make money. This game?? Definitely doesn't need the money for online to be free
The problem I have with Tekken is the move list is bloated. For the most part you can hold forward and mash, any character that has a unique macro probably won't even use it because it's punishable and does no damage

Harada said himself that he regrets having cosmetics in Tekken. Sounds like he wants to phase them out if we get more Tekken games. He talked about how there were battle passes because fighting games are so expensive to make now. Maybe that's why previously existing outfits now cost $$$. But things cost money to make =/ and Bamco has lots of it. Companies are just greedy. I also didn't like how PC optimization was handled in Tekken 8. Harada again with his amazing takes said on twitter, if you care about specs, play Tekken 8 on console. Because PC players who have HIGHER specs then a ps5 have to LOWER their specs quite a bit, especially for online.
I def see the game costing more money to make statement since seeing how much Read Dead Redemption & Marvel's Spider-Man 2 cost was INSANE! But at the same time its weird having so many things backwards about this game considering this Tekken had the most budget put into it. And if that PC optimization statement is true I dont know how to feel about it like wouldn't you want to make more consumers happy?

Not necessarily a fan of tekken, but I can tell you for sure that us street fighter fans have a lot of the same issues. It's so annoying when someone does a 1 and done because they know they're a 1 trick pony.
Oh I def remember playign Street Fighter 6 as well and going through that as well. But at least in that game for Casual matches you were able to keep rematching & the netcode is WAY BETTER so it didnt really bother me that much compared to Tekken 8 honestly.
