Former Prince bassist 'heard a lot of conversations' about hip pain

- We are starting to learn more about what happened to Prince. The beloved musician was found dead in his Paisley Park home last Thursday at the age of 57.
Local authorities investigating his death found prescription opioid medication on him and in his home, a law enforcement official told CNN Wednesday. The pills are commonly are used to treat pain and investigators have brought in the DEA to help with the probe.
Dr. Drew talks with Andrew Gouché, former bassest for Prince and New Power Generation.

Foxy, i regret i never saw Prince live in concert, but my sister and friends have seen him and they only rave how awesome his performance and shows were, high energy, they never sat down from time concert started. He was quite the musician and entertainer. what dynamo he was.. love him much.
I saw every concert, tour he did except for his last! I remember saying, Ill see him next time because I had only found out he was in town a few hours before his show. The person I knew that went had 2 tickets, knew I was a huge fan yet took a guy who made fun of Prince, I have never forgiven that person.
It hurts me just knowing that I will never get to see Prince or Michael Jackson live in concert. They were the epitome of what real music represented ❤️💜🎶🎶

Prince was a fine man who took very good care of himself. He ate the proper foods, he worked out a lot and he didn’t drink or smoke 💜

Whatever PRINCE died of is none of our business, that's between him and his Creator. And that is the way it should stay. He was private for a reason. All his professional career people speculated and slandered his name while he was alive. This needs to stop. Nobody is perfect, we all have faults, he was no exception. He would tell you that if he could. I'm just sad he's gone and will not be making great music anymore. Hope to see him in the resurrection. You need to let this go. Please let him really rest in peace.

+Aneesah Yumn Agreed...that was my take away as well. I can't imagine it was easy for anyone to become friends with him - as he was a control freak and a loner. I think a lot of his employees were scared of him - as he was known to fire with the slightest provocation. Sadly, his employees only got involved when his personal situation was desperate - but it was too late. I don't think his 'friends' had any idea of what was happening in his life.

It is interesting that I have read so many comments about him being humble - and yet what you say about him was exactly as I thought...that the man had a huge ego and cared very little for others. I think he did try later in life to change his public persona when the media didn't have much use for him, but I always got the feeling it was not authentic. some folks overreact to pain.I had stomach tumor surgery and never took anything for pain other than two or three pain pills and that's it.his hip pain is being used to cover-up the fact he had another illness that had been making him ill prior to his death.he was either poisoned prior or just had something else bothering him and he wanted no one to know.and his people was protecting his privacy.
He had hip pain ,he used opioids and he was addicted but he managed it . He didn't had other serious illness. He was emotionally unstable or depressed about a private matter in his private life. Same as Chyna ,H.Ledger, Robin Williams, Rob Pilatus, MJ, Falco

He died 2 years and 1 day after he had gained control over his music catalog from Warner brothers, remastered purple rain for rerelease himself, but that didn't come out until after his passing. Yes I believe he was addicted to pain killers, but the day after he died he was scheduled to enter treatment, way too many coincidences

I don't believe there is a way besides actually getting/being able to hear an unedited version of the interview =[ most all interviews that are aired are edited down to a certain time, but that particular edit was suspicious.
*Massive numbers of perfectly good people develop such addictions as a direct result of meds prescribed for medical relief. The powerfully addictive pills were known to be highly problematic years ago but why let moral responsibility get in the way of profits, right?*

Drew is using Prince's death to further his own ADDICTION AGENDA, he constantly contradicts himself with the facts, knows nothing about addiction, much less chronic pain. We'll never know how much Prince suffered continuing with grueling concerts while in pain, he was not an addict, the FACTS bear this out. "Toxic" levels of Fentanyl are TOTALLY subjective depending on the person's tolerance, which has nothing to do with weight. Drew is a idiot who is smearing Prince's name for his own benefit. December Leigh You are in denial. His sister was a child psychologist and his brother Duane mentioned that Prince had an addiction to cocaine and percocet. His brother, used to get percocet for Prince. He has been on those substances since the early 1980's.

Even if his sister WAS a professional, they rarely make the distinction between addiction & dependence...like Dr Drew, he has never ONCE made that distinction & says absurd things like "NO ONE should be on these medications". He might have used cocaine in the 80's, but he didn't drink or smoke, the chances he was "addicted" are less than 2%. To say I'm in denial would imply that I'm emotionally invested in this particular case in some way......wrong again. I get angry because people are so ignorant they refuse to make the simple distinction between addiction & dependence. He's in pain, how do you know he was abusing?

As he "lived" for being Prince & doing what he did, as stated by himself through lyrics & verbally, & by other people, if he could no longer do what he did, he was losing his self definition & had absolutely no reason to go on in pain & suffering & unable to live the life he felt was chosen for him. "Suicide" has such a bad connotation in this culture, but choosing not to go on when there is nothing to live for is the right of every individual, & that is clearly where Prince was in his life. He said "I don't celebrate my birthday....celebrate my death" to Mel B, there is every reason to believe he simply chose to not to push "up" on the elevator So don't think because he OD'ed (a useless term anyway, you would have to know a person's tolerance in order to know if they Od'ed or not, & there is NO way to determine that) that he was an addict who made a mistake with his dosage.

The typical: DENIAL! Prince most likely had premature hip arthritis; often (as in my case) hereditary, but worsened by wearing high heels for years, ruthless rehearsal with physically extreme and gyrating movements, splits and jumps (all in high heels) ....yup....and while I admire vegans, it could also be he was missing some essential "joint lubrication" oils and (animal) fats. Either way, his legacy is unparalleled but it would be sad to learn he withheld life improving and life saving surgery for religious reasons.......

Music was healing place for prince and the way he could contribute his gifts...and he also gave to diff charities behind the scenes,you will also read be always encouraged other artists to learn about ownership of their masters...he was so special, but at the end of the day, he was human too... he experienced pain just like us and it’s unfortunate at the time right before he was to get the help he needed , it was too late... he was a loner and I think that people sometimes do that to protect themselves ...if I recall a interview he said he would stay in Minneapolis for his life as it “keeps the bad people out” sometimes when walls are built up , if they stay too long , it will be hard to brea down... Prince was murdered, you can't go from being a health nut for 30 years to an instant drug addict. Prince may have been in pain but I don't believe he was addicted to pain killers. He often talked about watching what he put into his body. There's no proof of Prince being high on stage, interviews or recollections from his peers of odd, drunk, drugged up behavior... the man just got his master recordings back, writing a tell all memoir and was fighting for the injustices against black and brown folks; plus had plans to do a lot more. It was definitely murder!!!!!

Nah, his BEST period was 1981 to 1990. After that it went downhill with a decent song here & there. But during that decade EVERYTHING he recorded was a masterpiece, even the songs he didn't release & kept in the vault. Can't stay perfect forever.

Prince was not the kind of person to “complain” publicly about something as personal as any pain he was feeling. We witnessed him walking with a cane many times and we also knew that he had at least one joint surgery while he was with us. He made the grave mistake of trying to treat his pain (maybe in another joint) himself and keep it private from the public. He realized it was too dangerous (the mishap on the private plane) to do on his own but he realized it a little too late. He was just about to get professional help and it’s just so unfortunate that things happened the way they did. There were no other diseases involved (that we know of) just poor timing (possibly mislabeled pills of some kind) and possibly poor decisions. So very sad.

Other band members especially Barbarella went vegan supposedly… Everybody lost weight a lot of it. Could that have affected princes muscle skeletal. I’ve been saying that for what eight years is old as this video. I noticed Prince stopped doing the splits around the time the midnight and seem more frail towards the late 90s and definitely more so in the early zero zeros. But he was a meat eater that’s why he looked more healthier when he was younger.. if you’re close and you have hip problems, what is that? You either know you don’t.
