    In all the interviews I've ever heard with Bootsy, he's never had a bad word to say about anyone. It's all positive, all the time. No drama, no hurt feelings, no venom. So unlike the young people these days, with all the opposite. Respect!

      @karen kelly Since when was Bootsy any of those things? He's always been about the love and peace. He still called himself a flower child. He fully embraces the ethos that love will make the world a better place. I don't care about the old days or the new days or any other days, with a bit of Bootsy's positivity and generosity the world would definitely be a better place.

    The image of Bootsy's bodyguard chucking an ardent young Prince into the audience at the Funk Fest is one for the ages. But underneath it all, Bootsy's deep appreciation for Prince's achievements in both the business and music sides is so on target: "He made it his."

    Bootsy looks great he's a real down to earth guy . He knows the music business but if you watch the interview closely you can tell he is very deliberate in his framing of words. He probably knows way more about the industry from the way he's been treated than he can share in camera. Much respect for him he has paid some heavy dues.

  • @catboyzee
    @catboyzee 8 років тому +15

    Bootsy cut straight to the truth about us as musicians. A lot of cats really don't like dealing with business 'cause they're so busy either trying to be great musicians and/or Rock stars. Helps to explain why so many have been(and continue to be) taken advantage of by shady crooks that are good with both jive and numbers. Moral: While you're getting your music education, GET AN EDUCATION!

    Prince was the first musician to try to sell his records through the internet.
    He was the most ferocious musician in music, and it took everything he had to get away from Warners, and get the right to own his own music and his name and image.
    It fuckin disgusts me to think that his family gave his music back to the industry.
    Rest in peace, most incredible artist.

    • @robertbeckerbecker1354
      @robertbeckerbecker1354 Рік тому +2

      He was gonna give it back to the industry one way or another. Ixm sure hexs glad his music is so easily accessible as where none of his songs or music videos could be found online up until about four or five years ago. Hexs not making money beyond the grave. His estate is. His art should be available to everyone.

      Prince would have cut better licencing deals with the industry having watched what David Bowie did b4 his death. He would not have sold ownership, licencing is a way of charging rent on intellectual property. His"family" are selling pieces of silver to vulture capitalists who make money from owning the back catalog of Dead artists, so it's handy that Prince was murdered hours b4 he got to Rehab for pain management, because the counterfeit tablets planted in his belongings since he got his publishing back in 2014, hadnt killed him.

    • @uwinsome

    Michael Jackson and Prince Rogers Nelson picked up where Sam Cooke left off. Sam Cooke originally had plans to educate his fellow Black artists, to own 100% rights to their songs & music publishing etc. All three tragically died under mysterious circumstances. The Creator LORD "GOD" will reveal all in time. And will avenge any injustices done against the innocent ones. The passing of Prince woke me up to the very eerie history of the music industry. I'll never be the same after hearing much of his insights, experiences and revelations in reference to the music industry. Despite his oddness still he was a Man, as well as Michael Jackson.

      Some of these dumbasses lost their catalog to keep their junkie ass out of jail. Lawyers ain't cheap and are gonna get paid. Ask the late Rick James. When you have nothing of value other than your catalog cause you didn't pay your taxes (Ron Isley), you've already filed for bankruptcy (George Clinton)…guess what? We'll take your intellectual/artistic property. You dig the hole, it's the only way to get out! It ain't the devil...Like George once said, R&B...Rhythm and Business! Peace.

    Funny Bootsy brings up the Funk Festival. They use to have it here at the Cotton Bowl. There would be 10 groups on the bill and the concert went all day. A week later they would have the Texas Jam which was for rockers. They would also have 10 groups those concerts would start at noon and end at 1am. Man those were some great times. RIP Prince.

    Parliament Funkadelic my first concert ever I was only like 12 my sister had to take me because my dad wouldn't find out the mother ship connection.
    But Prince man we will never get another one true genius musicianship groundbreaker singer-songwriter could dances ass off LOVE ballets that would make you melt did everything Rock funk R&B jazz couldn't he didn't really have a category not to mention the vault is a ball with all the unreleased music I mean really has any other position ever done that and our lifetime or before he was definitely special and he sure wasn't bad to look at either even though he was sure if he was told he could even been a model Michael he was good but very differnt I like Prince father and it printed. From pain medications which I don't think you really did I believe it was because he went against the industry getting those master copies back but if he did die from the meds he did it for us his performances were so breathtaking if you ever seen him live in concert jump on pianos do the splits jump off risers side on the floor I mean he was a true performer and he did that for some years and there was no doubt that he did have some pain because of that he's only human and he sure didn't know how to put on a show that's true Entertainer !! No no we will never ever get another Prince Rogers Nelson

      None Ya When I was younger my parents had me lock and so I missed all the fabulous concerts of the 80's that which included Prince and the Revolution - that was the phase of his musical career to which I was introduced, although he'd been in the scene much longer. But I'd come to love his songs and the layers if spiritual that was intertwined and sometimes confused w/ sexuality. I loved the fact that he could not musically stereotyped (black artists are confirmed to r&b, blues, jazz and gospel), Prince is said to one of the best electric guitar players, vocally he was incredible - what a range he had and although he music creations were timeless he continued to evolve. So yeah he was a fave and then fast forward to the summer of 2004, my very first major concert I saw him. The everlasting Prince, by way of his Musicology album and he dazzeled us all by performing decades of creative genius. I hate crowds and have social anxiety but I had NEVER felt as carefree and liberated in dancing and singing unabashedly in my glory as I did that evening. He was amazing. RIP.

      NOT are WERE, he got his masters back when he returned to WB. Prince Tweeted this link in 2014 www.billboard.com/articles/news/6062423/prince-deal-with-warner-bros-new-album-coming
      In 2015 Prince told us that Purple Rain re-masters was done and delivered to WB which was the deal (they have not released it as it was just after the 35 year anniversary). It will be interesting to see how WB fight to make this contract void but you know their gonna try.
