Hey man, I appreciate you actually talking about stuff. It’s not a straight forward video but you make it seem good by not going straight into the problem, and it’s nice to see. Do keep it up please, thank you sir!
Thank you for this video. That was exactly what was causing my camera to not work. I can’t believe ford didn’t realize this could happen with the harness being so tight.
Yes, I'm having the same issue with a 2015 model I bought last week. I actually almost did not buy it because the camera wasn't working when I test drove it. It took it back to service and brought it out and within 5 minutes it was working so they know how to fix it really quickly but it stopped working again a few days ago and came back on 2 days later so mine is working itself into a slow death. It is the fact that that wiring harness is too tight. from what I have read it is the ground wire that disconnects from the camera. I have watched another video where a guy took a jumper cable and hooked the ground up and it came right on. Of course that may have just been his car but I think it's the ground wire when it comes to any of them. I'll update this once I've either fixed it or figured out a fix to it or if I have to have it maintenance at the shop I'll do a recap on what it cost me by the time I got it finished. Great video thanks for the info!
Yep, mine is doing the same thing. Camera is down to working about 5% of the time. Probably the broken wire/short cable problem. I ordered a new camera before I heard about the wiring problem. Haven't fixed it yet. Many people have just spliced extra wire into the harness... five very small wires go to the camera connector.
Also, the bend in the harness needs to be opened up and you need to inspect that specific location. Normally those wires in that bend will not like to be unsecured and left hanging, so when you’re driving over time those wires can fall apart, open it up, and cut one wire where there is a problem and solder it or use a butt connector. 99% of the time it’s right there with the bend. It seems to start happening once every two years.
It is a safety issue: The recalled wiring harness went into production on Feb. 22, 2014, and was taken out on Oct. 2, 2017. Ford began using the affected cameras on May 12, 2014, and pulled them Feb. 28, 2015. NHTSA estimated 100% of the affected model-year vehicles to be affected. If you have this issue, file a complaint with NHTSA at their website. Ford is restricting this recall, denying many who have this problem.
Hey man I had the exact same problem about 6 months ago. in addition to the camera not working, my trunk light wouldn't turn on either. I tried switching the bulb but still had no results. I read online and kept coming across people mentioning it was related to the fuse, however I just took it to the ford dealership and they fixed both issues without a problem for free. Now that you mention the cable not being long enough I'm pretty sure thats what the issue was.
i am actually experiencing both issues right now. Both my back up camera and the trunk light are not working. Would you happen to know which fuse it is?
Quick Drive! Nah man, I honestly don’t think they messed with the fuse, but instead they messed with the cable that you mention in the video. I was looking at it right now and noticed some black electrical tape wrapped around it, I don’t remember that being there before, so I’m assuming that’s what the dealership ended fixing up
miguel loya had same issue. Ford fixed the cable and losen the trunk cables a bit. I noticed the issue when my trunk light went off... I looked under, and behold! The cables cracked and snapped due to bad design. -from Canada. This should be covered under warranty regardless.
The next time it quits working I'll try this first. Where did you disconnect it from? Near the speaker or under the padded area on the inside of the trunk lid?
Dude same happened to mine, try to check your fuse box, same message was displayed on my screen , i only disconnected the right fuse and put it back on and problem was 100% solved
I took my 16" EcoBoost while warranty & they said the fiber optic cord (video cable) in that wire tube got damaged. They fixed it. Now 8mo later, no warranty & issues came back... Ongoing!!!
How difficult was it to take the cover off the inside lid of the trunk and access where the wires are actually soldered at? Instead of just reinforcing or resoldering them I believe I will take an ad an inch of wire and just heat shrink the wires together after I solder them that way it actually lengthens The wire instead of just reinforcing it. Thanks
whats going on bro my name is Solo. I'm from Durham NC and have a v6 too. I'm currently in the army stationed in NY I come home pretty often and I'm looking at getting some shorty headers. I wanted to hear your stang before I pressed the gas on getting them. if your whiling to meet up some time that'll be dope asf. just message me back and we can make something happen.
Although that is true, at the same time if I paid for a backup camera I should get a backup camera... I have a daughter who gets a permit this year and I'd rather that camera be there than not LOL especially having paid for it to be there

Skip to minute 1:50. That’s when he starts talking about why you came to watch the video . You’re welcome
Talk less about everything else and concentrate on the fix.
Skip it if you got a problem
Talk too much

Ford did issue a recall on this
THERE IS A RECALL ON 2016 MODELS!!!
Thank you for this video. That was exactly what was causing my camera to not work. I can’t believe ford didn’t realize this could happen with the harness being so tight.

The Ford dealer can fix that without a charge if you can't. Their is special plan they fix for a customer if you bought the car there.
The same thing happened to me but I unplug the camera and re-plug it back in
Hulk Deception thank you it worked
The next time it quits working I'll try this first. Where did you disconnect it from? Near the speaker or under the padded area on the inside of the trunk lid?

do you remember which fuse it was and where it was located?
Carlos ornelas what fuse was that?
There’s a recall now so you can get it fixed @ future people
My back up camera is doing the same as the fb post how much does it cost to get it fixed without the warranty
If you happen to find out please let me know as well. Mine is a 2015 EcoBoost with the 2.3 l turbo, not the 5.0
I took my 16" EcoBoost while warranty & they said the fiber optic cord (video cable) in that wire tube got damaged. They fixed it. Now 8mo later, no warranty & issues came back... Ongoing!!!
I had no camera issues with my 2017 but did the recall thing and now experiencing camera issues. Ford won't do anything.
I also have that issue. At first I taught maybe the Microsoft software needs an update. Should probably report to the dealer.
30min fix, re-soldered wires that lead to trunk lid.
Same problems here. No camera, no trunk function. Wire gets pinched by wire tie under trunk lid..
There’s a recall on this. I’m having mine fixed now.
I took mine In for recall and the dealer still didnt fix it. They said my camera has a code that isnt covered by the recall
2016 fusion cameras don’t work either. Ford is NO help 🙄
Just unplug and wiggle the connector at the camera in the trunk worked for me
What connector?
have a 2016 mustang. same issue
XD they did a recall 3 years later
