Brother, you are spot on with the correct accessories. Helmet: I was hit from behind while riding on a public road. I was catapulted into the air head first and hit a cement barrier. I walked away with just some road rash and bruises. What a different story I would of had if I hadnt been wearing a helmet!!!

Alot of cars slowed down to gawk at me but, the 1st person walking by that actually stopped and asked if I needed help was from Phoenix( he was visiting friends in the area). 15:00 Regarding headphones, I would HIGHLY recommend Aftershokz bone conduction headset. I've been using them for years now, on my third pair. They wrap around the back of your neck and sit just over your ears. This allows you to hear everything on the street AND your music, best of both worlds... assuming you don't crank the tunes up too high 😁

Definitely would love a tool and repair kit video going all over the things you've got in em. I try my best not to run over anything on my cyrusher but there have been times where I hit smthn that scares the hell out of me because it feels like a flat. It hasn't happened yet luckily but I'm not sure what I'd do without a proper kit. Love your vids man!

  • @tconnolly9820

I don't own an e-bike yet, I'm riding an ordinary hybrid as a commuter and make shift cargo bike. I'm almost entirely commuting and practical utilitarian focused rather than recreational.
Mirrors are absolutely essential. I have a full sized motorcycle mirror on each handlebar because they're essential for safety and keeping you aware of what's behind you always.
I always wear a bicycle helmet. Because I'm riding a bicycle. Additional lights. You can never have too many lights front or back, a constant bright front flashing light is essential for day and night. And then a separate good headlight for night time.
A rear rack because it's just so practical. I always carry a backpack to carry all of the items I don't want to leave on my bike because eventually they will get stolen like lights, tools, a fold up pannier for carrying extra cargo you may not have intended. And a two litre tupperware type tub with a little soap and disposable/reusable towel for having a quick and discrete wipe down in a suitable public toilets. Wipes work too but I prefer the the reusable and less wasteful option and using actual water is so much better. When I'm riding the backpack stays on the carrier rack.
A cheap permanent handlebar bag for all the various bits and pieces you might similarly put in a car glove box. I have two, one front and back of my handlebars. The one on the back facing me also has a clear top space for my phone so I can also see the screen. And because it's not solid and a soft bag it cushions and protects my phone from vibrations and bangs. In a solid fixed phone holder the phone is getting constantly vibrated for potentially thousands of miles if you ride a lot. That can't be good for it in the long run.
My bike came with a nice little ding ding bell. I added a louder bulb horn which sounds like hello hello! But after a few near misses with cars I also added an electronic horn that speaks a much more angry and aggressive language for those very special and thankfully relatively rare occasions that is just not repeatable in polite society like this comment.
And a handlebars extension for all the additional bits and pieces that won't fit onto your main handlebars.
I am waiting on my own first e-bike because I'm tall and need the largest possible frame size. That's how I'll be setting up my bike when it comes plus a whole lot more racks, bags, baskets and more as an all round workhorse. Definitely adding good indicators and attachments for pulling my existing large trailers.
Probably not the radar because it's a bit gimmicky and the mirrors already take care of most of that safety aspect.

The accessory for the Garmin is called Garmin Edge, After about 6 months having the Garmin Varia RCT715 I bought the Garmin Edge 1040 bundle. solar. I bought it for a few reasons. One the solar has twice the storage then the other Edge. Second the alarm system which notifies your phone if it gets bumped or moving. Third the chip so you can track it if they got away. Forth the healthy monitoring system, It show the calories you are burning & your heart rate, Five it comes with maps. While riding it will tell you the speed you are going time of day your ascent & is a compass. I know phones do many of this but this works off satellite. So if your phone is not working you can receive & send texts

Next up was bike light and/or strap-on headlamp(Brighter=Better!)... Settled on ArmyTek Wizard C2 ProMax (4000 lum-max) & NoxGear Tracer 2 LED light vest

I practiced changing the tires at home, that way it’s no big deal when it happens on the trail. Having a tube makes the fix even quicker. I wear goggles for keeping crap out of my eyes and it will also help to keep bear spray out of your eyes in less than perfect wind conditions. We can carry pepper (dog) spray in the city but not bear spray. Outside of the city I carry my bear spray, as they say don’t leave home without it.

Tyre pressure monitoring system: recommend these if commuting, saves checking tyre pressure all the time. Also, means if you have a slow puncture, you can pump up the tyre to get to and from your destination, without having to fix a "snake bite" during your trip due to a snake bite puncture due to low tyre pressure. This is almost a must if you ride an escooter for commuting, as it doesn't take much to get a snake bite due to the little air volume/how quickly you can lose pressure.

The mirror is essential and works with the radar. Radar helps the rider know when to check the mirror, otherwise, you're looking at it when you don't need to, or not looking at it when you need to.

@@maximumchargeEV Yeah and I actually enjoy the alternate longer routes as I see neighborhoods I never even knew were there. For instance I've lived in this area for 45 yrs, I've seen developments I've just driven past before. Some areas with million dollar homes blew my mind. I've even found a hidden 2.5 mile bike/walking trail where the trail beginning was hidden in a ritzy neighborhood. I ride it at least once a week, and this fall it's beautiful. Plus it ends in a small town where there's a grocery. Had I taken the straight busy main road route I'd have used a third of my battery life. Thanks for the reply enjoyed your video thumbs up.

The bear spray is an excellent choice but some states, like California for example: "No person shall purchase, possess, or use any pepper spray that contains more than 2.5 ounces (70.875 grams) net weight of aerosol spray". The crooks in this state have more rights than the victims!!!

@@geedub7912 I'm going to question a person's judgement and situational awareness, amongst other points, if they need more than one can of pepper spray, fogger or gel to escape from a situation. Pending the type of dispersion, you have anywhere from 7-12 shots (single second bursts).

      @geedub7912 Рік тому +3

@@leosarmiento4823 : I don't blame you for questioning my judgement or anything else for that matter. That's a good practice to have. As an ex-soldier I do my best to maintain situational awareness at all times, even in the so-called safety of my own home. Many times, however, when a situation presents itself it happens in the blink of an eye and you suddenly find yourself in a do or die moment. That's what happened to me when two dogs came out of nowhere and jerked me off my bike. After a lot of kicking, scrambling and missed shots the small canister I had on my belt (I think 1.5 oz) got the job done. But no sooner than I got to my feet a worse threat bore down on me. I had to deal with the charging, pissed off, screaming, twice my size lunatic who owned the dogs and my little spray canister was empty. It was clearly obvious that this thug had zero concerns about consequences and to be perfectly honest; I was scared sh*tless and I had nothing to protect myself with. I served six years in the Army and was never that scared. Lucky for me the other neighbor jumped in and stopped him before he reached me. I suppose I should've been carrying two canisters but I really didn't think I'd ever even use it at all. Nowadays I carry multiple weapons, including the small gel spray. I might also add that everything I carry is California legal as I don't care to spend my golden years in jail for trying to protect myself. For the most part however, I do agree with you that in most incidents one small canister should be enough to allow your escape but it's still nice to have a little more than you need. After all; who likes to run out of ammo? LOL!!! Have a nice day and happy trails!!!
