In this video, I'm going to talk about what causes fatigue. There are several common reasons you may have chronic fatigue. Let's talk about them.
I like to start by breaking up fatigue into two categories: Fatigue along with regular sleep, and fatigue along with abnormal sleep or insomnia. If you're not sleeping, this is can definitely be the source of fatigue. However, this is yet another symptom of more problems.
If you aren't able to sleep, you may be experiencing one of these things:
Chronic stress - If you are constantly stressed, this is a sign your adrenals are burnt out, or you're regularly exposed to high-stress situations.
Physical pain - If you have pain in your back or other muscles and joints, this can prevent you from getting enough sleep.
Nutritional deficiencies - If you are low in nutrients like potassium, vitamin A, calcium, and vitamin B. This can be caused by a poor diet or a lack of bile.
Environmental - If you have a poor bed and pillow, this can cause some serious sleep issues.
If you're getting plenty of sleep, what causes fatigue then? Chronic fatigue can happen even with a full night's sleep. Here are a few reasons:
Thyroid problems - If you have high estrogen levels, this can cause thyroid issues and prevent quality sleep.
Liver issues - The liver helps convert hormones. If your liver isn't working at 100%, you can experience poor quality of sleep and fatigue.
Viruses - Viruses can go in and out of remission as your stress levels increase and decrease, which can cause poor sleep and chronic fatigue.
Head injury - Certain head injuries can cause a problem where you aren't able to get deep sleep.
Light sleep - If you are generally a light sleeper, this can cause poor sleep and an inability to relax.

"Every time you treat a symptom, you camouflage the symptom and you perpetuate the problem". This is why mainstream healthcare today is failing us... in one simple sentence. God Bless you Dr. Berg! ❤️
Indeed
I made a permanent move from Europe to Asia some years ago. This major life change caused extreme anxiety and led to debilitating dizziness. My doctor didn't ask me anything about what was happening in my life and wasn't interested in the stress/anxiety angle. He diagnosed the dizziness as being caused an inner ear infection and gave me drugs that made me feel even worse. Completely useless.
@@expatlivinginthailand I've never thought to connect extreme stress / anxiety with dizziness but maybe that's what caused a bout of vertigo for me. IDK. I was able to follow the epley maneuver and fix the issue by myself, but I appreciate you mentioning this. Hope all is well for you now. 😊
@@supper7... Fine now, thanks! That was really extreme because I was undergoing a major life change, but even now, when I'm under moderate stress I can feel myself start to get light headed. Stress and anxiety definitely cause physiological changes, which Western medicine never seems to account for. That was certainly the case with my UK doctor, who was an experienced doctor (the senior doctor in the practice). Just like you, I have had to learn how to fix issues myself.
drugssss is the cure u junkies!
I am doing great on keto and OMAD, lost 15 lbs, and feeling great until yesterday. my uncle brought home pernil "Spanish roasted pork" from a local restaurant I ate some thinking it would be ok. Next day super hungry, very tired, very sleepy and a little cranky. I even felt like I was gonna throw up at one point. Definitely that pork, lesson learned. Don't eat dirty food from just any place, keep it clean. Stomach is more sensitive now with omad and she wants good clean nutrient rich food, not junk.
There is no medical care or advice for so many people. Its truly wonderful to see a Dr who isn't trying to capitalize on my health. He straight up cares to explain these things that my Dr wont even bother. These videos are a lifesaver
When I went on KETO, I noticed fatigue. Sleep was okay, but then I realized my B-1 levels were low (ie, no bread, so no B-1). Nutritional yeast and pork helped a lot (both natural sources for B-1), then I changed my vitamin supplement to one with high B complex levels, and viola!, no more fatigue.
Before I even finish my sentence and without ever looking at me, my doctor whips out his pad to write a prescription🥺
Same..
Time for a new doctor
Where ? In the US ?
That is why I went back to my doctor for a full blood test after about 20 years and then again 5 years later. All good and not need for any drugs.
Except if it's something you REALLY NEED...THEN you won't get it! You're 💯 right. 1 RX = 3...then 3 becomes 9... BIG PHARMA gets $$$$, while we get sicker! Top it off with doctors thinking they're GOD..
Yes, I agree completely with the philosophy of digging to find the true cause of the symptoms. The way the modern American healthcare system treats symptoms, not the cause of the symptoms, makes me sick!
This is just superb, I have been researching "reduce tiredness and fatigue" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Qiyia Ziyichael Booster - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my m8 got cool success with it.
Pun intended
Same for my Asian country!
Modern healthcare treat only symptoms. Also other places.

I am binge watching your videos and finding the root causes of all the different symptoms I've had over the years. I cannot stop watching and taking notes. It amazes me that after 10 years of reading and researching alternative methods (to medicine) for healing, there is always more to learn and improve on. Thank you SO much for all that you do. We need more people like you on these platforms spreading wisdom but importantly actually caring.
Hi Dr. Berg, I am not much writing my comments through UA-cam. However, I also have to admit that I have been following your videos with passion. The way that you explain and your methodology is reaching us very understandable. I have learned a lot from your videos, and most of all, I have learned to communicate with myself. Appreciated for your efforts and sharing your valuable knowledge with us. I am from Istanbul, Turkey and great to see that your videos are reaching all around the world.
It never hurts to go re-visit the older vids....it’s great to remind, review, and reinforce principles.
Agree. Find the core problems. I had an overnight sleep study. I was shocked to find out that I lack Stage 4 sleep. Some Restless Leg Syndrome but overall it was the lack of restorative sleep that is behind memory and cognitive problems. Fibromyalgia has developed over time. My fight/flight system is ruined. Sleep quality is the number problem. The rest follows. It is also a tough one to solve. It is a diagnosis and the rest are symptoms of a lifetime of overwhelming stress and lack of sleep.
I've been to lots of different Endocrinologist over the years. I have no thyroid. I have been tired ever since & those doctors just said thats being hypo & changed the subject. Thank you Dr. Berg for listening to your patients & evaluating each one.
2:38 omg, this Dr is the only one that explained what I have suspected for over a decade. I was born to get nervous easily and my neck was so tense since I was 15 yo. I knew it affected my breathing but no doctors would take my opinion seriously. Finally I found one Dr who really looks into the deeper cause, rather than just go by standard procedure. I'm so glad.
Check out Dr. JOHN Bergman on youtube.
I have the same problem in my neck and it is paralyzing me from living a normal life for 18 years , i became an introvert because of that can you please please tell me how did you solve your problem 😔
@@memati7199 oh I don't know this would help you too but the solution was so simple that it was deceiving. I adjusted my everyday posture so my head won't be in turtleneck position. I made sure, whether I'm sitting or standing, I have a correct posture.
This in turn helped me breathe normally after almost 20 years. Having proper 'oxygen transfer' changed me forever. I've changed from one of the laziest person I know to one of the most diligent.
To correct one's posture would be different for everyone. I suggest you take a video of yourself and found what's wrong. I was so surprised that I had such a noticeable turtleneck posture but none of the chiropractors, physical therapists, and orthopedists I visited mentioned about it even once! I felt like they only care about you coming back to them to pay $$. For me the miracle cure was fixing my round shoulder and turtle neck.
good luck in your solution search. Don't give up. It really changed my life in every aspects including personality, career, relationship, mindset!
@@jooheekim4067 please can i contact on any app that you desire 🥺
Would have been nice to hear you expand a little bit on the head injury.
That is how to treat it to help with chronic fatigue.

Dr Kale Berg. Great analysis.
So fucking comprehensive, he literally discusses every detail. Subscribed.
Fatigue can also be caused by constant exposure to a toxic source in the environment. I have been very chemically sensitive for 20 years and have to be really careful what I am exposed to. I've done detoxing and "purification programs" and it has helped a bit. Recently though I discovered that my constant stuffy nose and near constant chemical taste in my mouth has been connected to a growing sensitivity to.......my cellphone. Specifically the lithium-ion battery in the cellphone. Since I got the largest phone available 4 years ago, I soon noticed something wrong. Something was bothering me that I couldn't pinpoint. By process of elimination, I zeroed in on the phone. Since last year, I have stopped treating the cellphone like a 24 hour a day appendage and I noticed an almost immediate cessation of symptoms. I also stopped keeping the phone next to my bed at night and I no longer wake up blowing my nose for a half hour. I began sleeping less agitated as well. Research the toxicity of lithium-ion batteries sometime, folks. The manufactures know and admit they emit vapors and dozens of chemicals. I'm a bit of a canary in a coal mine. I smell things LONG before anyone else does. But I hope this helps anyone looking for answers to something bothering them who, like me, was stymied for years.
😮😮😮
Enjoying listening to your videos!

Fatigue I feel fatigued a lot of the time everyday and have tried everything but viewing your vidio on UA-cam has made me see the differences between weather I am fatigued through problems or being fatigued through a symptom of illness . Thank you for helping me differentiate the difference.
Great show
Thanks much!
Great information thank you🥰
Glad you like the content!
Good advice. I am fatigue with sleep. Doc ran a stress test on my heart; my heart doc claimed its my cancer med he claims I'm on a chemo drug. My Hubby has fatigue from iron deficiencies and had polyps removed. Hubby is fatigue but can not sleep, he sleeps with our big dog and stays on the computer and/or plays chess with his buds late at night. He has no gall bladder and often eats large meals as he been thin most of his life and now his tummy is getting bigger. He has severe allergies to weeds and grass and trees which he gets shots. He also has a type A personality. I sleep easily and Hubby not so much.
I must have had the perfect storm then, head injury, gallstones trouble, sinus, not sleeping due to all these and crushing fatigue now....
Would love to heal my adrenals but do not want to take Cortef (hydrocortisone). Also progesterone, testosterone, anastrozole, estraidol, iodine made me feel and look worse.
I practice a ketogenic diet, take my 2 grains of Nature Throid (for hypothyroidism) and pray to be well enough to leave my home someday. It's crazy the run around, the out of pocket costs because no doctor accepts insurance for any of this. I have to rely on nutrition, rest, lots of tlc and the miracle of sleep. Menopause (hormones) began this journey into hell and I've been clawing my way out for 7 years. It's been exasperating!
I used to be Unstoppable! Now I can't get Started.

Adrenals need Vit C and lots of it. If it’s your pituitary that’s a different matter again. I suffer from hypopituitarism, which affects my adrenals and thyroid, I get IV C and B’s every so often and it helps me a lot hope this helps you
Fire*Minx how much is this out of pocket?
I had a brain operation doctor. It was a huge shock on my whole system because suddenly I was weak and totally exhausted because suddenly I only had 500 units of cortisone my body produced, and my body couldn't handle all the stress. I contracted Coxsackie viruses and epstein barr. So, this is vicious cycle.
Yes, agree physicians dont seem to dig into what is the true cause of a problem.
Very helpful Thank You
You're most welcome!
Great video
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
i had mono two years ago, feels like never bounced back fully. What do I do? ?
10 years old video... Berg changed a lot
Funny that I chanced upon this older video that is very relevant for me. So tired, breathless on any exertion and so weak, needing to sit down after each effort to garden a bit. So thankful to watch this and now I have the confidence to go to a medical centre and request an investigation into possibilities until one or more root causes are identified. Began IF and OMAD 2 months ago. The weight loss has been good but with so much more to go it may also be a trigger. So thank you for the information that means I will no longer ignore it hoping it will correct itself in a few more months time. At 73 how many more months do I have 😂😂😂.
I have to sit down every 5 minutes
Dr. I have fatigue and I have no gallbladder can you make a video what to do without gallbladder
Thank you Dr.
Welcome!
sir, God bless you. may your hands help more people like me. Namaskaram
Has anyone else noticed how doctors rarely do a physical exam of your issue these days especially since covid? They just listen to you describe your symptoms and run tests. The days of looking at your body and touching you are quickly dying. In my opinion this leads to delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. Your costs go up too because the doctors just order expensive tests which you wait weeks or months to get.
I'm beginning to get that " itchy skin " condition you've talked about. How do I know what causes it and what can I do about it?
Living in 110degrees everyday outside causes fatigue. 🌞🔥
I agree!! Live in Palm Springs…. 110 plus everyday makes you tired
Love your videos
I really appreciate you saying so :)

Am so fatigue all the time. My problem is sleep. Since am at a very young age. Am almost 56 now. Compound with other stresses in my life now. Now the fatigue is getting worst. Am struggling true the day. My thyroid is ok had it check out.
3rd shift, adrenals, sugar, estrogen, alcoholism & I believe a huge toxic load. I feel better then I have in years from doing an ionic foot bath the last two weeks, cutting back on sugar, alcohol and stress
Trace our habits or what we are doing, cause and effect, logical.
I couldn't see a time in my life that someone make sense every single time when he speaks until I met Dr. Berg.

Gallbladder removed, thyroid and adrenals problems.
The complexities of the human body!
Another great video...do you think calcification of the pineal gland is a common problem that could contribute to sleep disorder. I have heard K2 is very good for removing calcification of any gland? I think more and more people are getting viruses that lay dormant and then re-emerge with stress....could you please do a video on how you think best to improve immune function (in the long term) as so many immune system herbs etc are only for short term use. Many thanks :)
😯
Could be heartbeat pounding so loud it keeps you awake. Could be Tachycardia that you can’t get rid of even if you are doing what Dr. Berg says.
Could you address treating the sleep issue connected to quitting smoking please? It’s been eight years. 😴
Too much cortisol yup I love your videos your information is so helpful for me and I can see it helpful for so many people thank you doctor Berg God bless you🥰💕🙏
What if I have ALL symptoms except smoking & alcohol? 8/4/19 @ 2:42P.
Frankly speaking Dr the medical language you are using makes people like myself completely confused. I believe there could be a more simplistic way of presenting these valuable lectures. Thank you and all the best.
Agree. We need to find root causes and they can be more than 1 level deep
Thankyou
You are welcome!
Hi Dr Berg. Could you recommend any Dr's in San Diego or anywhere In Southern California in that do what you do? I have a ton of health problems and I'm not getting any real help from MDs.
Hi, Dr. Berg. I appreciate your videos. My doctor does not ask questions to get to the root of the problem, so I do my own research. I battle fatigue, work a sedentary job, and I know exercise gives me more energy, but I get stuck mentally like walking in mud and I don't exercise. Could this be a deficient nutrient?
I am too tired to watch this video but my brain is telling me this is the reason to watch it. Thank you, brain.
😎❤
I found drinking enough water keeps fatigue away.
What about sleep that is always interrupted? No gallbladder also. Hard to fall and stay asleep -
What about anemia? That can cause fatigue as well, right? Having low hemoglobin? Thanks, Dr. Berg. I love your videos!
For anemia you have direct causation, which is bleeding or lack of creation of red blood cells, in both cases you would find out the cause real fast, in case of bleeding, stop the bleeding (unless it's from heavy menstrual bleeding then change your diet to help your body bleed lesser) take vitamin C + chelated iron to help the body recover, in case of lack of creation of red blood cells, it's worse, then you are looking at cancer most likely...
anhemia you mean?

Remarkable information. I need you here with me so you can put me back together. You obviously are at the top o your game.
