@annehenry861 i think one still has to consume the right foods and get proper sleep because while the body might feel good because the happy chemicals rushing into the brain will cause someone to ignore discomforts.
While love feels really good, and the end of the day it's like a drug that we have to manage responsibly.

@@eeg122 hi, I have answered some of your question in another comment. I have been everything from full vegan to full carnivore and everything in between. Now I do low carb, carnivore and greens, lots of eggs, lots of liver and kidney, some sardines and mackerel.
The single biggest improvement in my health that I have ever made (apart from cutting out all processed foods and refined carbs and processed vegetable oils) is switching to using lard to cook with. I have had sporadic acne for 35 years, which cleared up in days once I switched to lard. (About 2 months ago) I had some sun damaged skin on my face that I was worried would turn into a melanoma. This has also nearly completely gone. I had serious lung damage from breathing in the dust mentioned in the other comment. I thought I would never get my lung health back, but since using lard I have noticed a big improvement in my lung health. My gran used lard her whole life and lived to 105. I cook everything in lard now, and make flapjacks with it for running fuel.

Add the coconut meat from the coconut you busted open to the blender. At this point it went too thick so I added about a half cup of Poland Spring® water . Add 1 tsp cinnamon …

I'd love to see a video on how nutrient requirements are influenced by medications (and their additives) i.e. SSRIs depleting B6 (cofactor for serotonin production) and corticosteroids depleting zinc and vitamin D (which could exacerbate the asthma they are supposed to be treating). I know it is a politically charged topic, but it is really in the interest of public health to spread information on such things. These medications have their place, but should be used in conjunction with nutrition and other lifestyle adjustments. If the healthcare system suggests that they can't afford this, maybe it would be more cost effective in the long run to treat the route cause rather than prescribing several medications for the rest of someone's life, medications that mask or cause issues that could be problematic further down the line. Maybe we could tax the food industry for the negative externalities of junk food, the way we tax alcohol, tobacco and fuel.
Thank you Dr Berg for being courageous enough to speak out about nutrition, such as your suggestions that the RDAs for Zinc and Vitamin D should be much higher for certain individuals. On Pubmed it suggests that adverse effects from zinc are only possible from above 100mg zinc citrate daily over an extended period (I agree with Dr Berg that doses above this can be appropriate in niche circumstances such as fighting a virus or if someone has malabsorption, but people taking above this should keep an eye out for signs of low copper), and that out of 4700 people taking 5000-50000IU D3/day, ZERO people experienced vitamin D related side effects (the people on the higher doses of D3 were those with specific health issues such as eczema, psoriasis, arthritis and asthma, which is in line with Dr Berg's suggestions).

Hi being on keto? For just over a year . Was approaching 13 stone ( past point of no return).
Pandemic happened seen your big belly no fat on arms back in April 2021. It made sense ( liver is filter to everything, carbs nutrients deficient and keto won’t happen in three months , this could be a get out clause) but anyway started following keto ( slowly didn’t throw carbs in the bin just reduced it till not stocked in cupboard).
    Workmates mentioning loss in weight.
September bought a weighing scale measured 73 kg then stuck on 73kg for a couple of months but remembered in training days that you a plateau . Think November see a drop in weight 72kg
Before Xmas was hovering 69.9 to 71 kg.
Xmas and winter arrived so harder to follow any diet . Afraid to look at scales but April still hovering below 71 kg .
    Have now touched 68. 9 kg .
For my story keto seems to work.
Thank you for all the advice

I’ve never felt healthier since following your videos and intermittent fasting. I’ve been doing it for 2 months now and it’s made a huge difference. This morning I suddenly woke up with an excruciating pain in my upper chest. I could hardly move and I thought I’d fractured a bone. But then I realized that for the last month or so I’ve woken up early in the mornings with reflux. I just brushed it off and now it appears to have done some sort of damage. I went to my GP this morning and she’s a fan of intermittent fasting. She has prescribed medication that diminishes the production of acid in my stomach, as she believes the period of time there’s no food in my stomach causes the acid reflux. However, on watching a UA-cam video on intermittent fasting and heartburn, the poster indicated that the heart burn is caused from not enough acid in the stomach when eating a meal - and that taking apple cider vinegar before meals would assist.
I’m conflicted!! Could you perhaps shed some light on this? I fast from 8pm to 10am. My reflux occurs at about 2/3 am each morning. Hope you can help 👍

Calcium citrate is most convenient and more readily absorbed. With typical carbonate versions, it needs to be taken with a meal, and vitamins D3, K2, and magnesium glycinate or threonate are needed to absorb it properly. That said, those other supplements are useful on their own for different, various purposes.

I actually read that it is just as hard for meat eaters to absorb enough B12 as it is for vegans. So this might be a fallacy that eating meat will entirely meet your B12 needs.

    Hi
You make very good and informative videos. Many a times you mention animal based foods, I would like to suggest that wherever possible you should also suggest alternatives for vegetarians and vegans.
    Thanks

I know that white rice and legumes are thought to be bad if following keto diet, but I recently started having Dal (red lentils) with rice in the morning and I find that I am able to focus better and feel more emotionally balanced.

Dr. Berg, during my intermittent fasting. I accidentally had one sip of sweet tea because I was given the wrong drink. Is that one small sip of sweet tea enough to break an intermittent fasting cycle? I’m on the 20/4. Your response would be greatly appreciated.

For what it's worth... I've done that in the past and it didn't throw me off my keto or I.F. That can happen accidently with a food or drink. Alot of people think, "oh I screwed it up, might as well just plow in and eat or drink some more." Haha. I didn't. I just kept going with my I.F. and keto ... I, myself was fine. I know I'm not the doctor's answer but I thought I might help ease some of the worry. 💁 Might want to look up if he has a video on that topic too.

      Get rid of the carbs.
      Gluten, too.
      Do intermittent fasting.
You will be amazed at how much better you feel.
Also, a check up with your doctor wouldn't hurt.. thyroid issues could be the culprit.
      Best wishes.

I have a young friend who feels the same, he's only 23. He's been drinking soda and loads of refined carbs for years and it's catching up to him. I went through it too. I began using Dr. Berg's advice and within just a few weeks I felt better than I have since I was young. It changed my whole life, now I have as much energy as my best friends young children. Cheers!

Dr Berg, while it's true that you need vitamin B12 for the blood, the neurological symptoms and the fatigue well precedes the hematological changes in most people. Vitamin B12 is also involved in energy metabolism. The fatigue may also be a neurological symptom, in fact it is listed as such in the guidelines for physicians in my country. Vitamin B12 and folate are also dependent on one another, so if you are deficient in one of them, you will have a functional deficiency in the other.

If you have elusive auto-immune type symptoms like me, including chronic fatigue, thyroid symptoms with normal thyroid results, plus poor mental health, it may be worth looking into MTHFR via a genetic test. MTHFR can really wreak havoc, especially if you are homozygous.
Per doctor, I just started supplementing 15 mg/d of l-methylfolate to see if it helps. It could be the key to decades of suffering. 👍🤞
Would be great to see an updated MTHFR video from Dr. Berg.
