That Sax part is sick...Jimmy knew what a song needed even when the song itself didnt know what it needed. Love you jimmy, I hope you at least had a small idea how much you meant to us.
That would be priceless. Supposedly there’s a demo out there of PBTDL where it’s Stienman on the piano, meatloaf and mis Foli. Just the three of them. Meatloaf said he has the demo and was going to release it but then he died a year later. Who knows where it is now.
Absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing this beautiful music by Jim from back in the day. Thank you to the Most High for always have sent beautiful music angels 😇 , such as Jim. Much love to everyone everywhere 🤗🎶💜🎇👍
Definitely LEFT IN THE DARK is the 2nd half. And some 2 out of 3 lyrics in the first half - heard the new MEAT version of this - VERY COOL and sound like classic Meat/Jim.
But...Meat already recorded "Left in the Dark" on "...Neighborhood," so I'm guessing you mean the full "Souvenirs" song. There was also a song from the '74 "More Than You Deserve" show that had a song w/ the main verse just like LITD and the chorus somewhat similar to this, so I wonder what the impetus was to change the chorus for LITD on "Bad for Good."
S0Good. .. I Love it and just as I heard some rap tune accidentally on the radio. .this just sooven it 4me ...+ it was soothing on my ear ..souvenir thank you Jim steinman! I wonder if the Octopus really did that to mother Earth when you left his souvenir bless you help 2 deal with the earthquakes and quavers in music his musical score opera life. Love this song
There's something there. Maybe half or two thirds of a great song. He is famous for 'recycling' song parts into new compositions. I can see why it was too negative to make it onto the big albums. Wouod love to see this combined with another 'offshoot' into a new classic.
The music is a bit soft for the guy who did the ultimate 60's counterculture theater piece "The Dream Engine" just 4 years earlier, but Jim's vocals are INTENSE. "When you're tired of playing with yourself, you can always take my toy". :-D
The labels passed on him several times over especially when with Meatloaf...insane. This sounds like an early attempt at the lyrics for 2 out of 3 ain't band...
incredible. THe world is a lesser place without Jim
JIM STEINMAN FOREVER!!! Music, lyrics, vocals, this guy fucking rocks like he'll never know!
Jim Steinman .....Simply the best.. Thank you so much for every one of those Rock 'n Roll dreams. They've all come true.
I like that he uses the same lyrics in different songs
That Sax part is sick...Jimmy knew what a song needed even when the song itself didnt know what it needed. Love you jimmy, I hope you at least had a small idea how much you meant to us.
What a great song. Would love to buy an album of Steinman's outtakes.
Definitely. Maybe with his passing...
That would be priceless.

Steinman was a cutie back in the day.
He sure was!💞💞💞💞💞
Absolutely!!

WHEN IM DEAD OR BURIED ALIVE YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE MY GRAVE
NEVER HEARD THIS TIL TODAY WOW I LOVE THIS
So different from what the masses know - yet so good! :-) I love Jim´s voice and his singing.
No, no comparison today, just feeling good.
deadringer4love
Love it! I am thinking/dreaming all great musicians, Meat singing, Awesome producer (Jim ;)) Love it. RIP Jim/Meat.
Such an amazing talented writer / musician... Thank You SO much Jim Steinman...
Thank you, Jim!
Yes, There's some "Left In The Dark" in there. Awesome!
Yep! 2:58 - "Take my heart..."
was looking for a billy joel souvenir AND DISCOVERED THIS CLASSIC!! briilliant !!
That's because they're both the same geezer yin yang of New York music Legends
got some 2 out of 3 aint bad in there and some left in the dark wow
Never heard before awesome yes amazing musical genius
Steinman's demos have background singers, keyboard and drumparts and a sax-solo. And they're also 6 to 8 minutes in lenght ;p

Does Meat also cover "Yogi" on "Braver than We Are?" 'Cause that'd be a perfect song for 'im! :-)
by the way the lyrics "but you've been cold to me so long, I'm crying icicles instead of tears" is also in "For Crying out Loud"
because Meatloaf profited off Jim always! _ Jim a better musician, imo
This sounds like a mix of "Left in the Dark" and "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad."
even some of the lyrics
RIP Jim!!!!
Meatloaf just gives me chills singing this, one of his best vocally! Credit to Jim Steinman for the writing! Great collaboration!
@@andyburns8551 it’s Jim singing
Wow, never heard this before. Really really good
This isn't the only time Jim took a turn of phrase he liked in one song and used it again in another song.
I'm crying icicles instead of tears
I would love to hear Rob Fowler (BOOH The Musical) singing this.
S0Good. .. I Love it and just as I heard some rap tune accidentally on the radio. .this just sooven it 4me ...+ it was soothing on my ear ..souvenir thank you Jim steinman!

Great song, the most Kermit the Frog I've heard Steinman from these sessions.

❤
Better than the Meatloaf version.
@TheOneAndOnly KC. You Know I'm Right, So F-ck Off. Glad to see you have not changed. :) Meat is the best!
No, sorry awesome songwriter; but Meat gave Jim's music a voice, his
Meat would have owned this back in 76-86. But now...sadly....he wrecked it.
Just for the record, that should've been a small case "t" on the "There's."
The labels passed on him several times over especially when with Meatloaf...insane. This sounds like an early attempt at the lyrics for 2 out of 3 ain't band...
@MrDamian12345 So fucking true man!
@secondeagle No, still can't hear it.
do you know who owns the rights to his unreleased music like this one and go go guerrillas?
anyone else think that Jack White (of The White Stripes) could do an excellent version of this?
One of my fave song and meat does a even better job
"Let it be" in certain parts...
Great writer, awful singer
