    Thank you for making this video. I was trying to figure out how to make the wipers slower to adjust to the rain. Now I totally get it. I didn't even notice the "auto" side button.

    Ah thanks! Still the same controls on a 2021 X3. The wiper system on the MINIs are so much better than BMW.

    Excellent video. I just moved from a 2001 325i to a 2013 328xi, and while it still looks like the old car and many of the functions are the same, the wiper stalk is different - as is the vastly improved rain sensing feature - so this was helpful.
    But, you didn't mention how to manually pull the wipers up and out from the windshield when the car is parked, as we here in wintry climes often like to do in snow or ice so they don't get frozen to the windshield. On the newer 3-Series you can't do this outside of the car from the normal resting position of the wipers, as the hood prevents them from being physically pulled away from the windshield.
    My BMW genius told me that when the car and accessories are off, then pushing straight up on the stalk for 3 seconds will activate the wipers and stop them in a vertical position the middle of the windshield, from which point it is possible physically to angle them out and away from the windshield from outside the car. This was good news, as I had thought they were stuck down in the now deeper space between the windshield and the hood.
    Anyway, thank you for another lovely video - I have appreciated learning quite a few things from you about my excellent new/old certified pre-owned BMW.

    Owning a F25, auto intermit wiper is reactive to rain, so it is always slow to react to changing weather, therefore auto is not quick as me changing up or down manually in intermit mode-- similar to auto-trans, ithere is always time it never goes in to the right gear, really miss the older E46.

    So, didn't know if you knew it but on the back of the control arm, there's a dial. I just noticed it today. You can roll your finger up and down to adjust it. But I don't know what it is for yet. Any ideas? It has 3 clicks. Actually I'm trying it now and I believe this is the timing adjustment, on the very back. And you can vaguely see it at the end of your video when you put your camera up top to show the Wiper fluid pull directions

      That’s the back of the toggle on the front of the stalk. It’s one piece but situated in the stall like a barrel. Does that make sense?

    The auto function should be ON automatically, every time the vehicle starts. I do not understand why it is default to OFF. Other car manufacturers default this feature to ON.

    There's only 1 thing I don't like in BMW. And that's the wiper controls. I don't like the automatic rain sensor. I want to be able to select an interval, regardless the intensity of the rain. I had that in all my previous cars (2 nissans and 2 saabs) since 1991. In my previous car - an E60 and my current car - a G30 there is no interval selector and I really hate it. In automatic mode, the wipers start going too fast to my liking after a while. Why not just let the driver choose the interval..? Really don't understand why BMW doesn't implement such a useful feature.

      Rusty Nuckles the Fast/Slow thumbwheel is the “timing control” for the Auto wipers but there is only the Low and High settings for the manual wipers

    how about 1series

    • @TeamBimmer
      @TeamBimmer  6 років тому

      We don't have the 1 series in the states anymore (as of MY14). I would think it would be a similar setup though, unlikely they would have a unique wiper stock for one model. Is there something specific that is challenging for you.

      the back wiper controls mostly sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. Wiper water sometimes goes on but the wipers dont
