Just purchased my 5 series 2 days ago and this literally helped me out so much. I was sitting in my driveway for like 20 minutes trying to figure out how to turn my headlights off
🤯 ahhh man this guy literally saved me a trip to the service shop. I legit thought my fog light as out until he explained about it illuminates as you turn the wheel. Thxs my guy
First time BMW driver here and this video has explained what BMW support couldn’t. Spent the first 10 days with my car convinced my low-beams were faulty because indicator on the instrument panel was never highlighted. Blows my mind that someone decided that the best indicator for low-beams being active was the icon for the sidelights!?! Also, Could anyone explain why my low-beams are active regardless of the switch being in the OFF, ON or Automatic position?
The zero turns your lights off completely…. They just run when the car is on….all day😢😂😂😂but you can turn them off in settings….the second one is like a marker light… like the cops have when they trying to hide…. And the third one is regular lights😂
I have 2016 135i (f20) does it only have the one button for front and back fog lights? I had a 130i (e81) that had one for front and one for back lights
Great video. thank you for this. I have a question. My BMW e46 n46b20, the light won't turn on when I switched to Auto but it's on when I turned to low beam logo. Do you know the problem? Thanks
So that green light at 2:40 is just a low beam indicator? Thats normal to be turned on when driving i guess? It said parking lights, so i was confused why its on...
Can I run my parking lights during the day while driving without draining the battery? I like those setting because I want my taillights to be on during the day.
@TeamBimmer Have had my car for a year and a half and never realized it should be on auto headlights. I was wondering why my headlights never flashed when I hit the open button 🤦♀️
I think it’s more of a common European market feature that just carried over to the US. If you leave the turn signal stock in the upward/downward position a corresponding set of lights illuminate on the side of the vehicle. Usually used to assist in making the vehicle more easily visible in a narrow, poorly lit city street
I need to no if you can help me on the light control which position do you need to be in for the light on the instrument to come on I no it dissent come on in daytime running lights Thank you
This may help people if troubleshooting lights some day. I needed to see what the Rear View Mirror Light Sensor Was doing with the high beams. If bright daylight out and you want to see high beams when signal stalk is pushed forward High Beams wont click in. Throw a sweat shirt (when parked) over windshield blocking light from back of rear view mirror area fooling it to think it is dark out. High Beams should come on. Remove sweat shirt they will go out thinking it is bright out. I did not test DRL and Low beams but they should work similarly with mirror sensor as well.
i just have replace one headlight from a crash and I dont know why the auto function is not working for that left headlight, do you know how to fix it? it's a bmw 118i 2015
question: I havve a 5 series 2012, and I have low beam and high beam in the outer two headlights, and only "angel eyes" on the inner headlights. On my previous 3 series, and other bmws i've seen, the inner headlights are highbeams. I'm confused, is something wrong with my 5 series?
That is normal operation for that year/model. Small details like these vary within the brand but many have different interpretations of how the 4 headlights/halos design cue is applied
Hi there, can you help? Bmw x5 lights switch from auto to on by itself once the engine is switched off. We leave on auto but come back to Car to find they have changed to on. Any thoughts?
I went to get my car registered at the dmv and they told me my headlights were not on when I had them on automatic though they could see the “angel eyes” clearly on, which are the automatic headlights according to the manufacturer. Is there something I’m missing or is there a possibility he was just screwing with me?
DMV is likely checking that your headlamps are fully operational. The 'angel eyes' are daytime running lights that turn on when the light sensor recognizes that is bright enough outside to not require the headlights on. To override this in the daytime you'll want to manually turn on the headlights, switching them out of automatic
Why when I.put my lights automatically after the car won't start?? I don't know whats the problem I buy new battery and all what she nedd to be changed i did still the car won't start once they lights are in auto? 🙄
That would require service department. There aren't any interior adjustments for that type of setting. There may be certain headlight regulations based on your area
My husband just got upset at me because I set the lights to auto 🤦🏻♀️😆 he said they came on when he turned the car (he was in the garage which is why they came on in auto). He won’t admit I’m right to leave them on auto. Exhausting

I drive a Tesla and when I have to take my husbands x5 I do the same thing lol sitting there trying to relearn 🤦🏻♀️😆

So is the all the way to the left setting for when you just turn your lights off?
Do the instrument panel lights come on at night automatically or at all if the light switch is on 0 daytime running lights?

Can i leave the automatic headlight setting on at all times and if i turn off the car eill my battery be affected?
So there is no auto dim headlights on the 2018 X4?
Excellent demo
I’m not able to fully shut off all of my lights. Even during the day. Any idea why ? Thank you

Do I have to physically turn the fog lights on each time or will they come on automatically
Yes, fog lights are manually enabled except the ‘cornering lights’ feature is automatic

yes, when the high beams are on it shows a blue indicator
Why don't euro cars put the light switches on the steering wheel stalk? Regulatory requirement?
Thank you so much this really helped I was wondering why the lights for the doors wasn’t on but it was bc they where to low💯

BMW f30: night time and dark outside, how do I turn all lights off with the engine on?
Do 2017 bmw 320i have automatic highbeam when in dark mode
Should the Automatic Headlight Control be on at all times and will it drain the battery if left on when car is shut off.....thanks!
That should be fine, the auto headlights setting will not drain the battery
@TeamBimmer Have had my car for a year and a half and never realized it should be on auto headlights. I was wondering why my headlights never flashed when I hit the open button 🤦♀️
dumb question but what are standing lights? is that the daytime running lights?

Is ok when the light on the gearbox stay on after locking the car? Can it damage the battery?
So is there no way of turning of the headlights during the day ?
The 12 o’clock position is the selection for headlights off
