In this video I’m showing some of my favorite features that I find useful on my BMW 5 Series F10 550i. It should be identical on F10 BMW 535i, 528i and most other BMWs of this generation such as F11, F07 etc.

Tried them all on my 1977 bmw. None of it worked. Can someone tell me why? Do i need to put my car in rice overnight?

Good to know the hidden power supply in gloove box and also the 25kmh speed and side mirror reopen....never knew these 2 so thank you again
The idrive is a pad you can write on for destinations, routes, etc, the kick module is always located on the left which gives it a more successful rate. You can add shortcuts to the 12345678 preset button mapping near vents. You can use sport mode with comfort/ air suspension support dampening on the 7 series. Make sure you turn off auto hold while going into car wash on rails. You can manually adjust the headrest and mold it in the shape of your head in the 7 series 2016-. Auto start and auto off could potentially shorten your battery or even cut off the car.

MaDdoXxLiFe -lol, I just got a 2011 535xi and it's everything they say it is and more. Plenty of power, for me anyway, and luxury. With 70,000 miles on it I paid 13.5k and it looks brand new. Someone really took care of it. I'm pretty giddy about it, lol

MaDdoXxLiFe - I put $2300 down at $451 a month for 50 months. I was blown away when they told me I could get it because I assumed my credit or more accurately, my lack of credit would immediately disqualify me. It's quite the driving experience if like me, you've never even sat in one, lol. I only drive it on the weekend. Get my fix in small doses😳😳😳
Chris Williams i got in January a 2013 328i sport line in alpine white with 55k miles 14k I paid and everyday I drive that car I fall more in love with it lol I actually want a m240i or m2 next depending on budget.

Thanks, learned a little. BMW try their best to teach you every thing about the car at delivery, but there are so much great features. People always think just because there isn't a giant screen in the middle it's outdated

I ran the cable all the way to the back of the car for my dashcam.. only then did I find out there was a plug so close!
I found out about it when I was changing my cabin filter. However, it's not working on my car unfortunately.

Auto Hold is particularly useful at a boat ramp when preparing to leave water with boat. Prevents vehicle from rolling back while under load. Not good for transmission to accelerate forward while vehicle is rolling back - even if only slightly.

@@SimpleCarGuy my first ever own BMW, a 2012 535xd touring. Got it last saturday. Already tried the tricks. My trunk doesnt close with the "kick", the rest worked.

Beware of the "secret" plug under dash.it may have power but its limited. Its use is to update the navigation, download music from usb stick. Please READ your owners manual. if your car doesnt have a manual. Go to BMW of America and look fo rmanuals..

The unfolding mirror after 25 mph is something I wish my Mercedes had! And also is that power display standard on every BMW model or is only for the 550I?
It’s usually fitting to the ‘sporty’ versions of the car as far as I’m aware.
I have a 2015 5 series 535xi and my power display is the same
I’ve changed it to 2mph with Carly.

Depends on what you are looking for. M5 is a lot more fun and a better performance car but not nearly as reliable.

When you are the display you want to program, just press and hold the button until it stores it. Should be as simple as that

So I don’t think my 2014 BMW X6 has the option of just sticking your foot under the car to open and close the back. The key fob only opens it but I have to shut it manually.

Two of these worked on my X3 - the unfolding mirrors, and the reverse mirror move down. My first BMW, best vehicle ever.

@@tobiasherrmann5817 2,3,4 & bonus keep in mind at this time that i made this comment I was only a few days into my vehicle, I was going from a 320 to X3. I’m not familiar with most of the new futures. At the BMW dealership I waited 6 1/2 hours to go to through process in which should’ve been 1 hour process. I was annoyed and left without asking to go over some basics. I just took off, told myself I’d do my own research and I found that this video helped with answer and some of my questions.

@@tobiasherrmann5817 It was actually New Year’s Eve there was only one financial manager in a very big dealership, there were about seven people ahead of me and each person took about 40 minutes for paper signing 😒. I’ve never experienced anything like that before. The financial manager was genuinely swamped and my car had already been traded in and taken away earlier, I was kind of stuck there.

in this case the management should take over and help out here - can’t be that the customer wait over 6 h - that is not respecting the customer at all... and they (you) pay there sallary with your trade.

I did it an it works!!! I also found a voice recorder an programmed it as button 1 so when ever I need to dictate a quick note I hit preset 1👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

That’s the luxury package, I believe. It’s not aftermarket
How can I fold in the rear view mirrors
I got one for you guys, is there a way to put the car from nuetral to drive without pressing the brake to enter drive mode? I know the car can do this if it rolling at about 5mph or over, but anything less and you have to press the brake to shift from N to D.
The reason I ask this is because of those automated car washes, where the machine moves your car through the car wash in neutral.
It's a safety feature so I highly doubt there would be something to override it, unless you actually disable the switch that triggers this.
I just tap the brake as I shift into drive, never had issues with this.

Do you still have this 550i and have you done your valve seals
I sold it after 4+ years of ownership. Never needed to replace the valve seals as it never burnt oil or anything. My friend had to replace his on a 2015 X5 under warranty, though

what is the blue battery indicator in the dash? is this a hybrid car?
This isn't a hybrid car, but to increase efficiency, the car only engages the alternator when you are slowing down to charge the battery. This way you are not taking any of the energy from the engine when it can be driving the wheels etc.

What does that butten mean above the park distance control?
That's hill descent button. It allows you to go down steep road. You don't have to touch brake to go down a mountain and it will maintain the speed.

Yeah quadropholio motor should be in all stelvio but stelvio is a much catcher name for shure more metal parts too less plastic & champagne holder 4 seat option good sound system yuh know fix that turns too😅

I have one more hidden featurein BMW. It's called a "blinker", it's activated by the left stick on the steering wheel and it's used when you're changing direction...

I believe the that LCI (2014+ have them), but I have no way of testing this.
My car already technically has auto hold feature whenever I’m on a flat road stopped at a light bc I drive stick lol 😂

I tried the tank feature but it’s not working
My trunk does not open, even with the key. Tried pulling the cord with a hook and wire through the back speaker to no avail. Malfunction license plate light light is on. Please anyone help.

Mostly every modern car has AutoH. Even manual transmissions have that function.
Alex Alecs - yeah, yeah, yeah, I've never had a car like that. I have one now and until this video, I didn't know what the fuck A/H was. They don't have that in my other vehicle, a 2004 Ram

Tell them how if you make a circle with your finger in front of the radio, it'll make it louder or lower
Hold the open button on the key while locked and all the windows open, as standard☺️😊

This function has caught me coming outside at 7Am to all windows opened. Still trying to figure out what the exact point of having them all open right before entry is?!
Actually, the tilting mirror is on my list of things I don't like. Most cars that have that feature, including my old 2007 Acura, have a three position switch, with center being off. Left tilts the driver (in the US) mirror and the right tilts the passenger. I find them particularly good at helping me part close to a curb without curbing an expensive wheel. I really miss it on the driver side.
I absolutely HATE the tilt of the passenger mirror. I changed that the first day.

The side mirrors closed while I was reaching for something - not sure what I touched. How can I make them open back up? BTW, I was in a parking garage so didn't go over 25 mph.
Press the button next to the D pad where you adjust the mirrors.

How do you get it to show "power" and "torque" in the display?
It’s an option in the iDrive called Sports Displays. I’m not sure if all cars have it. It’s under vehicle info menu
Depends on your model but it has to be coded on certain ones , I have mine coded so that it displays power and torque and then I also coded it so that it shows horsepower 4 power instead of kilowatts and ft lbs for torque instead of Newton metres

Is the mirror unfolding thing only on cars with electric folding mirrors... I dont have power folding mirrors how can it possibly work..
Not all features will be available on all cars, of course. USDM cars have a lot of standard features that turns out are not standard anywhere else.
The same in my F01 German version.

Only via coding
By coding only, if you want I can do it for you
You can hold down the lock button and it closes all the windows (if open) and folds the mirrors
Not on the US modes. European models only (not sure about Australia etc)

I purchased a used bmw 535i 2011, and this model should have the feature of hands free trunk access. I tried that several times, and it never worked with me. Can you advise what could be a reason? or how can I troubleshoot this issue and fix it?
I believe the hands free trunk access is only available on the LCI (2014+) version of the car.

Stands for Life Cycle Impulse, it’s when BMW makes some changes to the car without fully redesigning. On these cars it’s cars from 2014-2016.

Sport Display Dials : On 2020 BMW’s if you have this feature discover it by using the following spoken commands
Say: Hey BMW
Say: Sport Displays
And the dials should appear on the touchscreen
For 2019 or earlier models press voice icon and say ‘Sport Displays’

One scared the crap out of me. Reversing in pitch black, opened the door for better visabity and the car stopped immediately and locked the gearbox.
