I use to have a different radio station set for each preset button, which was handy for quickly getting to my favorite stations. However, I must have accidentally changed something, because now when I hit the preset button (e.g. Preset button 1), it goes to the FM Station List rather than the radio station I thought I saved by pressing the button for two seconds. I want the actual radio station, not the FM station list. At first, only one station was corrupted, and the others worked fine. I read you could reset all the stations by simultaneously pressing Presets 1 and 8 for several seconds. I did this, thinking it might solve the issue (when in doubt, reboot), but now any radio station I save defaults to the FM Station List, such that I have to dial with the wheel, press the station, and left press the dial to get to the station details (call sign, song, etc.), which is much more distracting than just going to the station I want. UPDATE: I figured out how I could get the Preset buttons 1-8 to work on a 2016 BMW by using the iDrive wheel to go to Radio / Presets / Select desired station / Click floppy disc icon in upper left of screen / Scroll to desired station on the Presets list and click wheel to select the station / Hold Preset button 1-8 for at least two seconds to set the station (station number or call sign should appear at top of screen).
Good explanation. To bad I have to use You Tubes to learn how to operate everything electrical though. It would be SO great if BMW had enough common sense to actually teach this to their customers.
They do, that's the function of the BMW Genius. But these cars have so much technology that it's overwhelming going over every single function that this car is capable of, especially if you're not exactly tech savvy in the first place, much of it can go right over your head, or get forgotten about, and or missed the first time around with the genius. I've had my 535 for 3 months and I'm still learning about it's features, many things I won't even get to try or use until it rains or gets cold.
alan liniado the buttons will execute one specific function. You can have the numbers be whatever you want but it will only execute the ONE function programmed regardless of the menu you're in. If you try to program multiple functions on one button you will overwrite what was programmed on there originally. Hopefully that addresses your question, if not let me know
This won’t work on every chassis type, but try holding 1 and 8 buttons down for a few seconds. You can also try to reset the driver profile (if applicable). Otherwise, you can just overwrite it with a new preset
why the fuck isnt there a WIPE ALL MEMORY BUTTON FUNCTIONS option, ive just called the previous owners girlfriend by mistake because i didnt hold the button down long enough to set it to my mums number lol and then she called back like whos this and im like im so sorry i accidentally called u because ur numbers saved in a car i bought and i was trying to change the buttons

How do you delete from a memory button?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. Did you find out how?
so can I store some radio stations and navigation destinations combined in different numbers? or either 1-8 contacts or -1-8 destinations?
