CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The Cable Guy (Jim Carrey) leads Steven's (Matthew Broderick) family in a naughty parlor game.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Originally planned as a silly vehicle for Chris Farley, in the hands of director Ben Stiller and star Jim Carrey, The Cable Guy became an opportunity for Carrey to flex some of his darker comedic muscles as stalker Chip Douglas. Matthew Broderick plays Steven, an average Joe who is forlorn over his recent breakup with girlfriend Robin (Leslie Mann). When he moves into a new apartment, Steven comes in contact with Chip, who shows up to hook up the cable. Before he knows it, and whether he likes it or not, Steven has a new best-friend in the obnoxious and clingy Chip. However, Steven soon learns that obnoxious is a walk in the park compared to Chip's behavior when Steven tells him he doesn't want to be his pal anymore. What's worse, no one -- including Robin or his family -- believes Steven when he accuses the seemingly harmless Chip of being a malevolent menace. George Segal and Jack Black also star along with Stiller, who plays twins loosely-based on the Menendez brothers.

I have seen this dozens of times and never once realized Odenkirk was in it lol
Just found out myself lol
A young Bob odenkirk as that
Same!
His hairline has been receding for 30 years now yet nothing else seems to change much. Lol
Same
I love blatantly creepy Carrey's character is but they all love him 😂
Creep n Crawl
The way Steven's family is so enthralled and under the Cable Guy's spell is absolutely hilarious.
it reminds of that scene in Dumb and Dumber where Carey was fantasizing about being with Mary and a bunch of friends and was being a bit vulgar while everyone who was observing him seemed to love it.
@@Marchant2 That is what happens after spending some time with Jim Carrey, the cameras aren't always there to catch it.
Saul Goodman right there!
Nice find. It's no surprise that I don't remember Odenkirk being in this flick since he wasn't on my radar of actors when this came out. Cool to see now, though.
Odenkirk been known.. been in a lot of stuff.. like him in The Office.. hilarious
@Degree7 he had his on show in the 90's.. mr show..
What’s crazy is that this could’ve been Saul and Walter White of AMC got what they wanted.
James Morgan McGill
Broderick is crazy underrated in this. He's not trying to show anyone up and just being a guy who absolutely loathes this nutjob that has invaded his life. His apathy is just as funny as Carrey's shenanigans.
This entire movie is great, and very underrated.
I believe this right here is what makes some people not like it, maybe they focus too much on Jim's acting and don't get the real joke, which is Matthew's frustration throughout the whole (great) movie. For instance, they could say that "Jim's 3recti0n joke was cheesy", you know, sometimes theres layer's in humour... I've watched it like 6 times maybe, still enjoy it and find new stuff in it :)
Na his energy is off, I know it’s supposed to be but jeez man I feel it’s over the top
Too bad he killed those two women in Ireland in a car wreck that was his fault. Did not face a consequence or even apologize
Matthew Broderick is underrated in general, was an American icon in the 80s never got enough credit/respect compared to other actors
I miss the 90s
We all do.
PEEENITH....

My lisp is gone! *gets punched again*
@@timfields176 You thupid shon of a bith
Cable guy harrasing you? Better call saul!
just noticed this now. that's Bob odenkirk!
“Come on Steven don’t be a stick in the mud” as he’s being harassed beyond measure 😂😂😂😂
Personally speaking, I think these people deserve to be punched almost as much as Chip does.
"the passsssword iiiiissssssssss......................... vdjaina"
It's kinda sad that people view Odenkirk's appearance in this as one of those "back when he was a nobody" type deals when in fact he was hot shit long before Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He was right there when Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler and many other well-known comedic talents were starting their careers. In fact they'd probably credit him enormously for their success early on.
Preach it, brotha! Mr. Show with Bob and David actually started (1995) a year before this movie released in theaters. He did a LOT of writing for Sandler and a BUNCH others.
I’m sure you know but he’s also the writer of the one of the greatest SNL sketches of all time and that’s not exaggerating. He wrote the “Matt Foley Motivational Speaker” sketch. Where your gonna be “LIVIN IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER”!!
Funny you say that about Odenkirk, his most recent movie was called Nobody
Now he's Nobody 😎
At the time, he was more of a writer than an actor for those in the know. Mr Show was on television, yes, but solely on HBO.
RIP George Segal. He seemed like such a cool dude.
@Chris Williams Steven's father @0:46.
no but thanks for noticing
No its a cardigan but thanks for noticing
@Frost get the hell out of here
Sonic: Is that all you got?
Dr Robotnik: No but thanks for asking.
"I would've said SCHLONG!"
Chip does an impression of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the Medieval Times scene. Stephen's mom played the Senator whose daughter gets kidnapped by Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs. Oh, and one of the cops that is a preferred customer of Chip played one of the cops that gets murdered by Lecter in Silence of the Lambs.
Wow
And let's not forgot that Lecter asks the Senator if she'll feel her nipples tickle when her daughter is killed ;)
@@makotomikami irrelevant to add but my grandma dated hopkins
Yeah..same for movies in the 70s..after the two Godfathers...you would see alot of secondary characters even tertiary characters in alot of films from that decade..
*TAKE THIS THING BACK TO BALTIMORE!*
This scene had me crying with laughter.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jim Carrey is comedy gold.
I can’t believe how quick the family were to taking the side of a guy they had only just met, over their own son, brother, and in-law. But I see how it just makes this movie more hilarious.
Either Steven was always this unhappy around his family, so they never took him seriously, or his family are very easily led, gullible people.
He seemed to have a toxic relationship with his parents all his life. That's probably why they belittle him and favour the CG over him every chance they get.
@@javierburgos7 yeah, he did mention earlier that he hated visiting his parents. Maybe that was a hint that there was going to be an easy manipulation done by the cable guy.
i really don't wanna play this game ........LMAO
I would never play this game with my family
It doesn't even disgust them.
1:07 Jim laughing at himself has me dying 😂😂
lmao that part is great. The fact he finds it beyond hilarious when it's not that funny LOL
RIP George segal
This kinda reminds me of the scene in dumb and dumber when Jim is thinking of how he would entertain Mary Swanson's family and ends up lighting his fart! Oh yeah and then also flings the bowl of nuts all over his face classic!
As a kid, I laughed at Lloyd lighting his fart. But now, I find it funnier that Lloyd thinks Mary's high-society friends would find such low-brow humour hilarious.
In the credits they’re referred to as “sweater friends”.
😂
I would've said SCHLOOOONG
Jim is a God's gift for us
not anymOree
One of the greatest films in existence
0:09 Guy from family at the left is actually Bob Odenkirk (Jimmy from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul).
Always loved how they took that stupid game so seriously🤣🤣🤣 You'd think they won a game show contest grand prize
The way he enunciates ‘nipple’ 😂
Posters here are missing a very crucial element here. Robin invited Chip over and told the family how good Chip was and Steven's family trust and love Robin, which is why they took Chip's side. Robin was inadvertently the reason why Steven's family turned against him.
You used to post on IMDB didn't you? That may be part of it, but it's mainly that Chip is knowingly frustrating Steven and clearly seeking to isolate him from his family and peers. Chip is deceitfully acting fun and lovable in covertly provocative way while knowing full well that Steven is tired of him and angry. He knows Steven is on edge here, and manipulating him to be angry and aggressive. If your family member was seemingly grumpy for no reason, while a new friend was over and then assaulted him, most reasonable people would see that as grossly out of line, no matter who told you he was a good guy.
@@Absurdword I'm sorry, Rudy, but if my family was more ready to believe a total stranger than my own word, I'd ditch them - after I was finished spitting in their faces.
“the password is nipple"
Jim Carrey could have been really good at ASMR
let me open this can of coke... thhhhhhh
Top 10 funniest movies ever made, i swear to god
Very smart, very underrated.
Steven's mom was the senator in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
I love to see what Saul Goodman's life was like, before he became a crooked criminal lawyer.
Wow didnt realize Odenkirk was in this movie as Stevens brother lol
"I would have said SHLONG" 😂
0:45 One of the best lines I've heard in awhile.
1:42 on left, Saul Goldman ?
That's me
Now were tharting to get thith!
The close up word whispering is f ing hysterical
Odenkirk came up with Ben Stiller and Andy Dick and Janeane Garafolo.......All who are cast in here. Just go watch some The Ben Stiller show episodes.
ryan49er1 showing our age.
whoa..1:42..Better Call Saul!
@EbberDeeMills his slippin Jimmy days
Saul Goodman is amongst them lol
📮
00:47 hahaha I love that face hahahahaha
I wonder what the word was that Chip tells Steven... he says “you know that little thing” and “it’s just skin” I’m thinking it was clitoris
LOL, yeah, I was thinking that as well.
Steven needs to sever ties from his family
You would think Steven's family would see how UNCOMFORTABLE Steven clearly is around Chip and realize Chip was bad news.....
is this movie the dream from dumb and dumberer
*Senator: did you, nurse, Catherine yourself* ...?
“I woulda said shhhhlong!!!!”
RIP George Seagal
I would have said "Schalong"
Schlong
I find this and his alter ego in Me Myself and Irene or two of his darker characters.
Lol you can see it in matthew broderick's face it was bursting to laugh
I love the shot between Jim, Leslie, and Matthew.
You can tell mathew wants to break lol
0:58 so this is where the announcer on Jimmy Fallon's Password originated lol
God damn...YES people , Bob odenkirk had a career before breaking bad
This is a game you play with your close friends, not your mom
Learned that the hard way...
Just kiddin'
Is that Bob Odenkirk?
Yep
Greatest legal mind I ever knew.
Just picked a guy up driving Uber and he said this scene was filmed in his living room. So I had to UA-cam it 😄
lol how did the conversation go to have him end up mentioning a random fact like that?
@@nathanwailes I asked where he lived, then when he said Los Angeles, I was like cool- do you meet a lot of celebrities out there? And he told me some stories, this was one of them.
@@Kingx90 that's awesome, thank you for sharing the story!

Ferris Bueller and Ace Ventura play Porno Password (1996 colorized)
the most underrated part is center, like how do you go from center to nipple its a seriously complex joke
Wow that's Saul from Breaking Bad lol.
I didn't know Saul Goodman had an extended family he visits with regularly 😂
dark comedy
They should do a remake of this and have chip played by Mike Tyson
I just noticed that guy on the left on the couch is Better Call Saul from Breaking Bad
RIP George Segal
0:08 look to the left, it's Saul from Breaking Bad
0:09 is that Bob Odinkirk on the left?
It is indeed.
I didn't know Kevin Costner was in this movie
Saul Goodman
1:07 you can see jim carrey trying not to laugh

Nah he is in character
Comedy gold 😅👍
1:43 Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill

Best part of the sequence😂😂
Saul Goodman was in The Cable Guy? Damn.
Steve seemed to have a toxic relationship with his parents all his life. That's probably why they belittle him and favour the CG over him every chance they get.
This movie was made back when Bob Odenkirk was a nobody but now cut to post 2021, Bob is now Nobody. 😎😎
He looks like a perveted Mr. Rodgers haha!
