Forgot that he made the world and the people in it that way.

You ain't joking. Edward Tarte used to make videos talking about his time in seminary and in one of them he specifically said future parasites are taught to steer their victims away from asking questions and towards vapid platitudes in the bible. I think the exchange went something like "What if someone asks me about this or that contradiction?" and Tarte was basically told to tell the idiots to stop reading that bit, trust god, and just read something that'd make them feel warm and fuzzy instead.
Tell'em what they want to hear and make sure they never think about anything. That's Troy all over. It's theological pablum.

This is actually one of those story detail problems. Roman law was pretty clear on who suffers crucifixion as a punishment. Thieves didn't qualify. The Romans could be brutal, and did have capital punishment. But the form of punishment varied depending on the crime. For the most part, thieves were simply fined or imprisoned or punished in other ways. Crucifixion was generally a form of public terrorism and was most often the result of political charges. So....no. They didn't deserve that form of death for stealing stuff. Wouldn't have happened.

    • @WeirdWonderful

@@WeirdWonderful -- personally, I think not. That sort of slow, painful death seems unwarranted in any case. Even for the reasons it was employed (such as sedition or revolt). But the Romans were a very cruel society. Not an excuse. Just the background of the culture at the time. Pretty much all societies at that time were brutal.
Another form of capital punishent they used was death by animal. Various aninamls were allowed to kill and eat the convicted prisoner. Either by tying the person up and letting the animals go or allowing the person to fight for a bit of public spectacle before finally being eaten.
Also rather excessive and unwarranted, in my view.

"If your heart's in the wrong place... you'd probably just die"
Not necessarily, heterotaxy syndrome has your organs jumbled, but they still function. It can certainly have life threatening complications, but that's not guaranteed. And sinus inversus is where all of your organs are in the mirrored position of where they usually are, but that one is usually harmless.
I guess you could be thinking wrong place for you. Like it was sitting in the left side of your chest, but now somehow it's in your right leg. That would likely be universally fatal.
