I saw him in London two days after this. He was eye wateringly good. One of the best gigs of my life, and I'm old. He is a gent and a true professional. It was a phone free gig. Your phone went into a mystical pouch you couldn't open. Everyone was fully engaged which added pure magic and intensity to the night. I wish all gigs were phone free.
I was in London on Wednesday 29th July and saw this dude with blue hair walking around the Chelsea area. Then I realised it was Jack White. I wanted to approach and tell him that I loved his music, but chickened out. Kind of wished I did approach him now lol. When and where abouts did he play in London?
He played the 27th and the 28th at the Apollo. How amazing that you saw him walking around Chelsea. You should have declared your love for him, I've heard he's kind to fans.
I have to say that Jack White and Prince are two of my favorite guitar players. Both of them have such unique sounds that you immediately know who they are when they start playing.
Jack and the drummer are taking this song to the next level. You can see the drummer pulling a bit more out of jacks playing. These 2 compliment each other perfect.
Yeah they have such a “call and answer” element to their playing. D-Jones is a phenomenal drummer and coupled with the dissonant notes/chords jack throws into his playing they create such a raw and sometimes jarring and exciting sound over what are great but simple melodies. I hope they keep putting music out together they rock

I did sound and helped set up drums for Daru at NAMM, one of the nicest musicians I've ever met. Such a unique setup and love hearing/watching him play. One of my highlights during my first trip to America

My era is prior to this. I was blooded on bands like Sabbath and Zeppelin and being born in 1965 I do have recollections of the Beatles and all those glorious 60s bands. A lot of people are slagging of jack's playing in this video but I think they're missing the point. I don't think he's trying to give the impression that he's a virtuoso player, I feel he's trying to tap into the spirit and raw emotion of blues rock and I think he's doing a good job. You'll struggle to find a live recording of Hendrix playing in tune and Jimmy Page was sloppy at times but that's what gave the music life and excitement. The music became fire. It was unpredictable and couldn't be completely controlled. I don't think Jack White is pretending to be Hendrix or Page, I think he's just tapping into their wavelength. If that's not what you're looking for there are hundreds of sterile, over-saturated, auto-tuned, choreographed to death manufactured bands out there to listen to instead.
Love this guy...basically tells the guitar establishment..and music teachers. Ah just play however you want. I have been playing for 40 years and to me he's just so unique, tunes the way he wants just plays whatever comes to mind in any key he fancies

This man is a verifiable genius. There’s no one else like him. From the modern era Reignwolf is the only person/band that comes close to JW’s kind of raucous energy. Seems like a decent guy too. Always find it cool that, even though I’m English born and raised, my Dad grew up in Detroit during the 60s.
As you well know Detroit has a great reputation for raw, hard rocking bands that gos way back. Mitch Ryder, The Stooges, MC5, Ted Nugent, Eminem, Kid Rock, Etc. A cool tradition with the latest addition being the White Stripes and Jack White! Maybe it’s the Car Industry or something in the water? I don’t know but I’m grateful for it! And I didn’t even mention Motown the hit factory! Detroit music! 🎶 😊

I saw jack in Nashville in April and I couldn't believe how much attention I was paying to daru Jones on drums. Jack is my guitar god, and seeing him live was a lifelong dream come true. And I spent 60% of the show staring at the drummer.
This is music, the only language in the world that gives you freedom in choosing the words you want to use, and you're still able to communicate with others. In other words: it doesn't matter what notes you play only one thing that matters is how you sound.
